We were craving some ice cream while in the area and we were very glad to have gone to this place. I have had their ice cream in a different location before but I didn't remember it to be memorable. This time, however, the ice cream really delivered. I'm a big fan of nuts with ice cream and the trick was to get my favorite flavor "maple walnut" with mixed nuts as a topping. The medium ice cream was 2 big scoops and the entire body was covered in delicious nuts. The service was quick and the ambiance casual. Wish I could give this place a five star review, but alas I cannot. Ive only been here twice. Was the ice cream good? Of course its ice cream. My problem was with the staff. The first time we were there we tried to move a table over so we could all sit together (there was 6 of us). We were immediately reprimanded. This last time the staff got our order right, but no smile, no thank you, no have a great night. Just faces of people who wished they were somewhere else. Is customer service dead? It's a must to come here during the holidays for the eggnog custard--follow on social media so you know when it's "on tap." The flavor and texture are perfection. It's also fun to wander around eyeing all the candies and chocolates... excellent gift ideas. On this visit, my daughter and I split a large Arctic swirl with brownies pieces and swapped the vanilla custard for eggnog. Best decision I've made all season, no regrets! The only tiny downside: the signs. So. Many. Signs. Rules everywhere--no ice cream in the chocolate area, carry a basket so nothing melts or breaks, no glass outside, clean your trays, etc. I get it (I, too, am a bit of a control freak), but it does start to feel like ice cream comes with a user manual. We went out to celebrate my daughter. It was quiet and clean. Our ordering experience was pleasant and quick. I got a hot fudge sundae, it was big. There wasn't much hot fudge on it, but they did not hold back on ice cream or whipped cream. I am sure if I had asked for more, they would have added some. Well, I came here last night and got a baby banana soft serve with chocolate sprinkles, an Easter greeting card, and two six packs of ice cream sandwiches. (One was M&M's and one was Reese's Pieces.) As somebody with social anxiety is fear going to new places, I saw a post online they had a specific flavor so I walk in as ask. The young lady with the glasses at the counter gave me an extremely nasty look turned around and pointed at it. I understand it may be irritating getting asked, possibly the same questions throughout the day, but there is no reason to be rude. After I handed her my money to pay the way she took it out of my hand was as if I had a disease and she didn't want to touch me. I also understand cash is dirty but her demor towards me was embarrassing and rude. I'm a customer I should not feel as if I'm repulsive or a nuisance. On Mondays, there are BOGO cones but we realized this a bit too late (oh well, there is always next time). I got a Caramel Cashew Crunch (say that 5 times fast) in a sugar cone. Does anything really beat ice cream with loved ones during the summer. I think not. Nick Charlap's is a retro ice cream shop with pink neon signs and homemade chocolates and ice cream. They serve their ice cream in metal and glass dishes and man that just makes their ice cream taste so much better. I got their turtle sundae to split with a friend and it was lovely. I wish there was a little less caramel and a bit more hot fudge. The caramel on the bottom got cold and became very chewy by the end. My grandma got their hot fudge sundae and was a little short of the normal amount that should be given. We went on a Sunday night around 7pm so they were a bit busy so this could be why. The one complaint I have is that our ice cream was served in styrofoam containers and it takes away from the experience. You aren't able to see the layers and since it's all stacked on top of each other the hot fudge makes everything melted instead of the traditional sundae where it's spread out horizontally. I also wish there was more parking here. My grandma has some mobility issues and there wasn't any parking available so I had to drop her off and then find parking in the surrounding areas. read more

I loved this place! I feel like every ice cream place I've been to lately only had soft serve/ custard. All I wanted for such a long time was just a large selection of hard, creamy, ice cream to get my hands on. They had around 30-40 flavors here (I think? It was a long list). It is guaranteed that they have a flavor for everyone. You should make sure to sample a flavor if you're venturing out of the classics. I thought I wanted strawberry cheesecake, but realized it was much too sweet for me after trying it. Peanut butter fudge also ended up being a chocolate ice cream with peanut butter cup. I've been to the Charlap's in Boston quite a few times. Their homemade hard ice cream is second to none. I went to the West Seneca location last night for a sundae. I had mine with whipped cream, hot fudge and chocolate ice cream. I got it to go and the people checking out next to me commented on how good it looked. Which is funny considering it was sitting in a styroform cup. It was the greatest thing I've ever eaten. The chocolate ice cream was rich and delicious. The bottom of the cup was coated in hot fudge then dumped over the top of the ice cream. And I could've eaten an entire bowl of that homemade whipped cream. It was very light and airy. A must stop when you get a serious ice cream hankering mid winter. read more

The problem here is that it has "Char" and "Lap" in the title, but has neither char-grilled food, nor any kind of lap dancing. So they're not giving me much to work with. I thought this was a food place so I went there to try something and it was dessert only. I tried their ice cream and it was average. The parking lot is also a little difficult to get in and out of. Plus the only reason I was in the area was because I had to go to West Seneca Court to pay a large ticket. They're mated to a chocolate shop, and share the same door but have separate registers, so this is a review for just the ice cream side. I live quite literally down the street from this place. My daughter and I quite frequent Nick Charlap's. We will take walks or bike ride there in the summer months and they are open year round. So it's nice in the winter to have that ice cream option The menu is on the wall or you can ask for one. It's an extensive menu of any type of ice cream concoction that you would want. We always know what we want, soft serve, I love their soft serve ice cream. It's so creamy and doesn't taste at all watered down, like at some other places. But any hoo I usually will get the twist. They do give you big portions of anything you order which is great. The staff is also always courteous and friendly when we arrive and are in there no matter how busy they are. It's nice to have that ice cream shop in the neighborhood. A place where I can go with my kids and enjoy some ice cream. read more

What a great and complex cherry flavor. Unlike Antoinettes they also make ice cream sodas. I had a chocolate soda with coconut ice cream which was super amazing. They have packaged ice creams from their regular flavors in a cooler in the front as well as ice cream sandwiches. They also package their hot fudge so you can take home some ice cream and make your own sundae. The hot fudge is amazing. There is outside seating for warmer weather and plenty of indoor seating as well. Staffed by teens so the service is a little iffy and the lines can be long. They seem to have a very large selection of chocolates much like Antoinette's but I wasn't able to get anyone to pay attention to me the one time I thought about trying some. read more
