Tilly's is middle ground between expensive tween/teen stores and places like Sears and Target. You do get the brand names you want but you won't get the best styles. While Macy's and other more expensive stores get the best stuff, Tilly's gets the leftovers that the big guys' purchasers pass on. Still, to kids, a brand name is still a brand name so it's all good. I went in today with my sister and I was serviced by a sales associate Celia (from Massachusetts with Jordan 4s). She gave the most stellar service and she made sure we were taken care of when we were trying stuff on. She asked us right away if we needed anything and got us a fitting room and made sure we were doing okay. She even got different sizes for us if some of the clothes didn't fit, and in case they didn't have the size we needed in the store, she brought us the size that would fit us in a different style so we could order it. We ended up ordering different sizes of Levis and denim shorts based on the sizes she brought us and the styles she recommended. The clothes we brought home fit like a glove and we loved them! She gave excellent suggestions and provided great service overall. Honestly, I was impressed with the department store service provided in a retail store like Tillys, she was really on top of it and friendly. I would recommend HER service 100%. read more

I'm in San Francisco now and the Tillys in the Bay Area are bathroom small and pretty much non-existent. I was down in Esco for Thanksgiving and The Boyfriend needed a hoody. Upon arrival, his eyes almost pop out of his head and he stands in awe in the middle of the store. It later turns to horror. "You guys wear this....stuff???" Yes, in SoCal it is socially acceptable to under dress. We like it. We also don't care for getting "Hyphy" or saying "Hella." This store is HUGE compared to the one we venture to (at least 5 times in size) so The Boyfriend takes some time to go through some of the inventory, all the while muttering "Why do you people need so many skate stuff-things..." I was in this store mid July 2021, trying to do a exchange but they didn't have my size so a return was done. The manager offered no support to her associate the entire time, my return took way too long, the register didn't have large bills and the young girl at the register asked her repeatedly if she could get help. She also asked another employee standing next to the manager if someone could get on a register and her response was " I'm not on the clock". I take my son to Tillys to shop all the time. However, this time made me realize I will not be shopping here anymore. First, I was buying shirts 2 for $30 and had the 20% off coupon. I asked if that coupon could be used and rather than say no sorry she gave some whole long story as to why not which still made no sense so I said "so that's a no?". What really pissed me off is I went to pay and tapped my card. Started talking to my son and forgot to put in my pin so when I looked at key pad it said "declined". I said can you ring it up and again and she said only if you have another card you can't use the same one again. I said what do you mean I can't. She said it's store policy. WTH! I've been going to this Store since I was small and today was the worst experience I've had there for the first time. The cashier did not want to refund my money back to my debit card or in cash even though my return was within the 30 days and the tags were still attached and the item was in perfect condition the same way I purchased it. She told me due to covid and the coin shortage she would have to give me store credit which is not fair if everything was perfect and within the 30 days. So I told her how would customers know that when they shop with their debit card they will be receiving a store credit. I felt like she didn't l want to help me because I even told her there is a coin shortage not a cash shortage! She said if this will be an issue I will give you the cash. When she could've just done that in the first place. Because of this situation I will not be coming back to any Tilly's store at all since they are giving out store credits if you paid with cash or debt. Not right! I'm really surprised how snarky the girl that handled my transaction was. I had a few items I was buying. Of the items, one was a shirt I grabbed from the clearance rack. The sign on the clearance rack said 25% off of the lowest marked price. Well this shirt had a tag that that listed the price at $20, which with 25% off would've brought the shirt back down to $15. Pretty good deal. Anyhow, as I go to checkout, the girl at the register was incredibly rude for no particular reason. She starts with "uh, this shirt is actually $51, not $20. And it's not 25% off." So my wife looks at me and just smiles, as we were both dumbfounded as to why this girl has such a bad attitude. The price of the shirt being wrong wasn't that big of a deal, but the girls attitude made me just want to walk away and leave the other items at the counter. They said that they had 1 left and they would put it on hold for me to pick up the next day. (This was going to be a gift for someone and I needed it that next day) I went to the store around 4 pm the next day asking for the hat and the girl said there was not one on hold that she could find. She asked the other person working if they had any left and he said 'no, we sold our last one today.' What?! They sold the hat that was on HOLD. To me, that is unacceptable! So after reading the bad reviews tonight and visiting the store myself I'm truly confused. I guess some people are upset at the world. My honest opinion is I love the people that work at a store. I have anxiety and really dont like rude people who does? So after reading all of the negative reviews I was hesitant to go back there. When I walked in I was almost immediately greeted by a friendly lady which I believe is the manager (I know I will destroy her name if I try to spell it starts with a K ) and she helped me with what I was looking for. We even had a short friendly conversation and offered to start a dressing room for me. The girl by the dressing room put more clothes in there for me and help me get another size in a shirt I ended up buying. Had she had not been there to help I wouldn't have gotten another size and bought it. So thanks to her. Sorry I'm so bad at names and forgot hers too. I went to buy the clothes and over heard the manger on the phone being helpful to someone asking about an item. Then she again asked me if I found some stuff I liked which I did. Emily checked me out and was also very sweet and professional and check me out and signed me up for the rewards program in a timely manner. Honestly one of the most easiest shopping experience ever. I have shopped at this location 4 times and each time it gets worse. They never have enough staff manning the tills and the can queus can go right to the back of the shop whilst 2 people try to deal. This morning I went it to return 2 shirts and buy several items - a back-pack ($50.00) plus various jeans, tshirts and sweaters for my 3 boys and some board shorts. At least $300.00 worth. There were 2 people manning the tills and the one (after telling me she will be with me shortly) suddenly darts off into the depths of the store, never to be seen again until i walk out, after dumping my goods in disgust. I see her standing chatting to 2 guys in the other end of the shop, playing and laughing with them. Really, really? She is the so-called Manageress - scary. Called yesterday like 30 minutes before close to have them put a wAtch on hold. Told them it might be a few days before I pick it up, and the girl who helped me said to just keep calling back to make sure they put it on hold since they can only put things on hold for 24 hours. Called today 2 hours before I called yesterday, and when I told the girl on the phone I had put something on hold she asked my name and put me on hold 5-10 minutes later someone else picked up as if I was calling in for the first time. So Either the girl who had originally answered forgot about me or the girl who picked up the second time didn't realize I was on hold. She then asked me what the item number for what I was looking for was so that she could make sure they had some in store. I asked her if it wouldn't be in there holds? She said they only did them for 24 hours and I told her I called before it was 24 hours she then said she was going to look for my item, didn't take my name or anything. Left me on hold for 15-20 minutes and I just hung up. NEVER GOING TO THIS TILLY's AGAIN! I would rather drive all the way to Oceanside or Carlsbad! read more
