When it comes to customer service, Vicky is her name! So helpful without being overboard. Just for her alone I'll be back. For years I've struggled to find 3xl that fits correctly. This place not only has that size like most stores, but it's actually cut properly in legs, arms, etc to be a true fit. They call it big and tall, but I'm short and fat 5'9" 320lbs and they had lots for me. Pros: Vicky:), selections, sizes, all styles including suits. The cuts are larger in certain areas unlike reg dept stores. Lots of locations. Cons: some styles are only online but they'll ship to store for free, but I'm an instant gratification guy. Okay, I have no issue with the clothing in the store, as a fat guy I don't have too many options. My complaint is the salesperson who waited on us. I will not reveal any description because I don't want the person fired. When entering the store there is a prominent sign that says masks are mandatory. As someone with health issues I appreciate that. There were several salespeople and all were masked--but the person helping us has nose uncovered. At first we thought mask would be pulled while helping us. But then at register there was no change. When we asked for the mask to be lifted we were treated with attitude, which was very annoying. If anyone reading this thinks it's no big deal, well, that's the attitude that is keeping us in this situation. I have two kids and a wife and we are very cautious. I have more than 20 friends who have tested positive to Covid-19 (thankfully none have died, but many friends of mine have not been so fortunate). As I said I do not want the person fired, but I would like to see this rule enforced. read more

I had very unpleasant experience here. I have been to this location several times and I have returned different articles of clothing because they did not fit well. I have spent a large amout of money here and today the "assistant" manager refused to accept a suit that was clearly not worn. She stated because I tried it on, that they could no longer accept the return. I let her know that I had tried it on in-store less than 2 weeks ago but she still refused to give me a refund. She stated that it is in their policy that no articles of clothing can be returned if they have been tried on but I have returned items before. I had my receipt and the tags in hand. All tags were on clothing except the pants which I tore off but I had them. It does not state on the receipt that the clothes can not be returned nor does it state that clothes once tried on cannot be returned. I will be contacting the corporate office because this is not how businesses should be ran. I come to this store and spend my hard earned money because I feel comfortable coming to here. I will never return to this store as a result of this experience. read more

Recently, I was in need of a suit for a funeral. Due to my work schedule, I was short on time and was only able to get to DXL shortly before closing. Phyllis Palazzolo was on duty and jumped into action. She got some quick measurements and then pointed me directly to a suit that was on sale and just happened to be in my size. She selected a great shirt and a couple of ties that completed the total look. She asked about other accessories but wasn't pushy. I got the suit I needed, never felt pressured, and felt like my family and I made a new friend. If Phyllis is working when you are there you can't go wrong. While Phyllis was helping me my family was checking out the rest of the store and they were impressed with the prices and selection. Being a bit on the bigger side makes shopping in most stores a disappointment, but here it's great to see a large (pun intended) selection of comfortable and stylish clothing at reasonable prices. read more

More often than not, I shop online and have it shipped to the store, when I pick it up I try things on and they take back anything I'm not happy with. My husband is 6'6" and a pretty big guy so there aren't a lot of options for him, clothing-wise. The Sports Arena location is far superior to this one in terms of selection and stock, but I wanted to buy my husband a new shirt a few days after Christmas and I knew the other location would be picked clean. I managed to find a nice Tommy Bahama shirt in their clearance rack which was a great score. Customer service was pretty good: The guy working there had to get the shirt off the rack for me since it was so high up. Of course I was the only customer in the store at the time so I would expect good service. My only complaint other than the small selection is that they ask for the charity donations before calculating the grad total. So I said "round it up" and I still got a decimal number in the end. I'll be more specific about getting the full total first from now on. Bottom line: The Sports Arena location is better, but this one has some decent things too. Worth a visit if in the area. It's like going to 7-11 and buying a loaf of bread because you don't want to deal with the lines at the supermarket. Side note: the signature line they carry, "Harbor Bay", is really not durable. My husband has had several shirts fall apart on him and the zippers break on his jeans. Bite the bullet and go for the expensive brands. My husband has been wearing the same Nautica polo for six years and it looks a lot better than his six-month old HB polo. read more

As a big dude I love coming here because I feel normal lol. The selection of clothes is pretty big! And the service is very good. Wish there dress shoes where better quality though. Those things will last you 6 months if you're lucky. Only because they are all made with plastic soles. For comfort I guess. When coming here be prepared to drop some serious cash. This is the only location for MILES! We have no choice but to drive 40 minutes to this one because my husband is 6'8". Their choices are hit and miss, they usually don't have many 1xlt or 42" waists. It seems like the company is changing to cater to older gentlemen. We wish they would carry longer shorts and less plaid shorts. They don't match all the shirts, and solid colors are harder to find. The plus is that their clearance rack has some good stuff usually. We will be back but that's because we have no other choice to shop for him. read more

Why do I always get the feeling that since the renovation and name change to Destination XL, the workers here seem to forget where they are working, it's a store for big and tall guys folks. With that being said, we have a hard enough time from people at the "normal" people stores giving us looks when we ask for sizes they don't have, ok, fine, but it doesn't hurt to ask, but to be looked at weird from the minute I walk in to a big and tall store like destination xl because of what? Because I'm big ? My brother is big ? Maybe the way I'm dressed? (comfortably)yeah, we are both big and tall, so why give us the third degree burn? Or you notice us and instead of acknowledging us , you instead look away or go into the back room. The funny thing is, we walked into this location twice to pick up online orders shipped to the store well worth over $600, and they were suit coats, so, you can imagine the look on these guys faces when they pulled our items from the little closer they have by the registers, you know that look? When you think of something one way then to be completely proved differently,they had that look. We drive over an hour to shop at DXL Escondido. We go when we know Vicky is available to help us select pants and other for our son who is disabled and in a wheelchair. Each visit, my son is matched with exactly what he needs. Love the quality of the clothing. Very pleased with personal, pleasant attention to his needs. Also very pleased with special needs tailoring. Vicky measured for shortening pants plus tapering legs. She also measured to shorten sleeves on Ralph Lauren shirt, taper the arms and shorten the shirttail to make big sizes fit shorter man appropriately. Excellent customer service, good quality clothing in a range of prices in a pleasant environment that makes our shopping experiences enjoyable. Highly recommend! read more

Pleasantly surprised with this store. Good quality, name brands, clean, organized and great personalized service. There was a ton of selection and mid-high prices; however nothing outside of pricing you would expect from a major department store. It was nice to walk into a store that catered to my very tall hubby with huge feet. Lots of shoe selections, socks for size 13+ (fun socks too!) and those hard to find under shirts that are long enough. With coupons, I thought what we spent was more than reasonable. We will be back! The only reason for 4 instead of 5 stars is because I thought for the prices, the alterations could have been either free or deeply discounted since you are buying them in the store and they aren't cheap. read more
