Despite being pulled in four directions at once and witnessing me miss out on every choice i made due a very common size requirement , she took her time, dug through the inventory in the back and found EXACTLY what I was looking for. When I left this store, I commented to my fiancée that I'd forgotten what great customer service was like. There were two young men that worked there on July 30, around 4pm. According to my receipt, one of them might be named Edris. One of them was clearly training the other, but both of them were so informational, friendly, and helpful that I just had to come here and shoutout the unexpectedly great service I received at this location. In a retail world now filled with faceless online purchases, annoying/repetitive sales reps with fake smiles, or rude service, the two men that helped us were none of those and were a breath of fresh air. I was greeted as soon as I came in, then asked if I needed help. I said that I did as I was looking for work boots. They made sure of what shoe features my work would require and then pointed me to a wall display to choose. They gave me enough time to decide and try on shoes on my own, while coming back at the appropriate times to give me shoe sizes from the back, or offer up different brands of shoes based on my size and needs, or suggest that they look up my size at a different store, or offer up advice when I was struggling on deciding on a pair. It was great , genuine service, and I wish more retail stores had it. read more

Everything was going fine .until one of the female employees started saying rude things out loud in the back room (I can hear you) honestly just making unnecessary comments and when one her co workers asked her to bring different boots to try on for me the employee acted like she didn't want to do it ( how does she even work there). Came in with my wife to exchange the shoes I got from work. The sales lady who helped me was very rude. Looks like she hated her job. She didn't even bring the shoes to me. She wanted me to walk across the room and try it on where she can see me. It was weird and rude when she said to sit over on the other side of the room where she was standing. It Looks like she was tired of working and wanted a real job or she thinks I'm going to steal the shoes when it was already been paid from by my company. I've had a couple experiences here. Before I temporarily moved to Alaska I consulted a worker and bought a pair of boots here along with the sham product they sold me to protect the boots from the snow... two months into it, the snow is seeping into the boots and I'm sloshing around with icicle feet. Fast forward to present day, I walk in looking for a new pair of work boots. I tell them I'm a size 6 in men's because they don't have the boots in any brands I want for women's. The lady proceeds to tell me that the smallest they have is a 7 in men's and asks me if that'll work.... I understand if you don't carry my size. I really do. But you work in a boot store and you're asking me if wearing the wrong size boot that I'm about to drop a couple hundred dollars on is going to be okay.... are you serious? In her defense, she looked up where I could possibly find it in other stores before continuing to offer me the wrong size and in a different brand and style than I inquired about. Me and my husband went to go buy some work boots for himself. We were waiting for the lady to come so we can ask for the boots but she took forever. When we got the boots and paid, on our way home we noticed the boots weren't even the same size or even the same boot. It was very disappointing to have to go all the way back because we do not live in San Marcos. Then when we got there they had charged us the wrong price so we had to pay $30 more. Which that wasn't the price they had told us the shoes cost. Disappointed. read more

I got the impression that boot world had good customer service. I went in for a pair of work boots, and the staff was more intent on their own conversation than helping me. They replied to my questions, but never answered any. Finally they convinced me to get the orthopedic insoles because "my feet have a high arch." I ended up putting my original insoles into my boot because the othopedic ones hurt so much. They most positive thing I can say is that they handled my return professionally. read more

I'll never really understand the negative reviews about this place, some people just love taking advantage of the "customer is always right" phrase, But anyhow every single work boot I have gotten here has been exceptional the employee there Javier was very attentive to me made sure that the boot I was getting was the right one for me not just trying to BS me and have me buy any old boot any time I have a question pertaining to a product he would respond to be in a professional manner, I hope his managers do see the good work ethic he puts into his job. I went to this Boot World in San Marcos looking for a pair of work boots, and as I walked in I saw that they had a variety of options. The employees working there were on top of their game. One of their wonderful experts named Vicky helped me out by thoroughly showing me the difference between each boot, and letting me try on different sizes until I found the ones I liked the most. I went in wanting to buy some Timberland Pros and came out with some more comfortable Wolverine work boots and saved some money!! I read the reviews about the Carlsbad (El Camino) location and decided to drive an extra 20-minutes to this shop. Wow, it was so worth it. Colin (or Cory, I can't remember) helped me and was awesome. I mean, old school shoe store help. He sat on the ground felt around the boot, recommended other options, etc. All with super courtesy that was not fake. He sealed the deal, but I will add that overall this shop has a great selection of every kind of boot. Like I said, worth the trip.
