Came in today and the level of professionalism behind the counter is staggering. The girls and I say girls not women pulling out items and discussing customers is so unacceptable I was genuinely disgusted. Further, I guess they think the majority of women are a size small. Check out the sections, 60-70% of the product is in size small and anything else is very poorly represented. Training is needed for staff. Use of cuss words and loud shouting and frankly ignoring buying customers is truly truly bewildering. I share this having purchased a dress where the attendant ripped the tag off so in case I wanted to return or exchange that wouldn't be an option. This wasn't on clearance or anything special. Just one of the very few size large dresses available. I wish they would get their act together because prices are fair and I love the concept. So much easier than thrifting, but at the expense of listening to teenagers act unprofessional and lack of proper size options..... no thanks. read more

The employees are not kind, and very inconsiderate. I've been a frequent seller and this last visit has made me not want to come back. I had expensive clothes for them (free people, anthro, nordstrom) and they didn't take any. They texted me my clothes were ready 5 mins after I had already left the parking lot to do another errand so I was not surprised when I called to see if that was accurate they hung up on me. My bags were not touched and the manager wouldn't look at me when I walked in to pick up. Very strange and will not be selling my clothes there any more! They took my stuff put it in a box and said in 30 minutes they would let me know if they would take my clothes. So I hung around, 40 minutes later I get a text that they were ready for me only to tell me they dont accept any career wear. Ok, so I read reviews before I came here, lots of mean reviews, gave it the benefit of the doubt and came anyways, and I'm so glad I did. The staff that work here are some really nice people. Wide selection of all different name brands. Great selection. Smelled nice. Decently priced. Their buying process is quick and easy. Some other reviews discuss being offended when selling, but these ladies were nice, professional and bought lots of my items. *Experience is solely from selling* I have no idea why the ratings for this place are so low lol like it's just Plato's closet. I think people may have too high of expectations for it. I like to think of getting some money for some clothes I would've other wise donated and got no money for! But if you are someone who has a clear picture for the value of their items, then this place is not for you. I would recommend Facebook marketplace, eBay, or any other place you can choose your own prices :) This was the first time I've been to a Plato's closet where they went through my things within 5 min (typically at least 30 min)! The idea of a place like plato's would be nice if their offers weren't offensively low as well as their picky process of what they will and won't buy from you. My personal experience- I brought in a giant black bag filled with mostly new with tags items. We are in January so i made sure they were all things that are for this time of year, including Valentine's Day stuff which is what they said they wanted when I called before coming in. Out of the entire bag of over 40 Items, they purchased 7!! For those 7 clothing items, they gave me $20. I wasn't looking to make money but average of 2.50 per item is offensive. Sooo yea, let's say that was a one and done for me. Never again. Don't waste your time!! You're better off selling on Poshmark or a flea market. And for $20 I'd rather just donate. read more

Went here the other day, they didn't have shi in my size or that looked like good quality. The shoe section was absolute trash as well, I saw a lotttt of dirty used shoes, that didn't even look like they were worth the price. The heels were even worse. Y'all are supposed to have name brands (free people, lulu, polo, etc) not fuckin shein. And why are you selling shein stuff that it's over the price it would be on their website??? (On sheins website) Like the El Cajon location is a lot better imo. I bought my bf one shirt, and it was $21. That's crazy, I couldn't gotten that exact same shirt on Poshmark or eBay for cheaper. Other than that, customer service was okay. They hardly talked to us or seemed happy to even be there. I wouldn't even bother with this place again tbh, not worth it. read more

One of the worst places to go to sell. I used to come here often to sell clothes and shoes that I just don't want anymore. It seems like they only take trash because that's what they sell at high prices. I had name brands and they bought nothing because my stuff wasn't in "style" anymore. They have little girls working their registers and buying clothes that have no idea what they're doing. They look like they hired them off the streets. Disgusting. They don't have a lick of customer service here. My goods will be donated instead. Never coming back. Hella disappointed. You're better off buying new items at this point. read more

Sell to another Plato's location or sell elsewhere. These "buyers" have no idea what they're doing at this location - they tell me they won't accept SHEIN when none of my items were! and then offer $2 for a brand new dress with tags still on it. This location is also always cluttered, not organized and they are somehow always "overstocked" with items when the display shoes are dirty and things on the rack look SO worn. I know because the way I fold things and they where perfectly intact in the bag they also called me within less than 10 minutes to say they went through it .... No way! I've never sold clothes before so I didn't know the process, but I felt weird energy from the moment I walked in, the girl told me the process. I left and awaited a text. I had a bag full of super cute blouses. And pants, tights and jeans. They told me when I came back, they are overstocked and didn't have space for my inventory. Then why waste my time in the first place if you didn't have room for it, I mean this is what you do is buy clothes. I personally felt it was maybe cuz I had plus size clothes or because the girl seemed a bit annoyed because I didn't understand the process. Im not sure but I can't say I'd go back. They made me feel very uncomfortable. When the girl checked in my ticket, she asked another girl about my ticket, I guess she didn'tunderstandwhat was happening, that girl looked at me told her they weren't going to take any of my stuff. I read other reviews and they seem good, but I had to be honest about my experience. Very uncomfortable walking out with the same full bags I walked in with, knowing I had great clothes in those bags, blouses medium and large. Pants XL. But heyyy, I won't be returning. Horrible customer service employee assumed my family and I were stealing while shopping and when we confirmed the item she assumed we stole was ours she walked off without saying a word. She also went ahead and let us know the fitting rooms were closed as well but then proceeded to let another man inside the fitting room's. She then proceeded to rush us to check out while my family was getting situated up front near the register. Overall horrible experience I would like a follow up from the manager. read more

This is a pretty convenient location in Escondido in a strip mall. Most of the times that I have come here were to sell old clothes, and of course shop a little. I'm a big fan or recycling clothes and most of the items here are in good condition, if not new. However I mostly come here to shop for jeans, they used to have a good selection of designer jeans for decent prices (but on this trip, not so much). Most of the other clothes are geared towards younger gen z. That being said, most of the items I bring in to sell are rejected and only a few items were selected to be purchased. The amount of money you get is not much at all (about 1/3 of the price they would sell it for) so that is one thing to know before going in. It appears they like to buy designer bags in particular. While the ladies working there are nice, it seems that many are still in high school and possibly their first jobs. Overall it's worth a stop and you could find a couple of gems here. read more

Love the idea of being able to bring your gently used items and sell them. They need new buyers, however. I called before hand to see whether or not the store needed boy/men's clothing. They, in fact, shared that they did. Made the trek to the store with a lot of almost new clothing. I brought 2 bags of Prana, Reef, Calvin Klein, etc....nice men's clothes in almost new condition. Waited the 40 minutes, then got a text that my offer was ready. At the counter, I was given both bags back with the note that the clothes were too worn for purchase. What a waste of time?! No worries. I should have just done what I was going to do in the first place. Lesson learned. Going to donate to Straight From the Heart. I won't get $$, but I'll get the satisfaction of knowing my almost new clothes will go to a foster kiddo who needs it. FYI, I did do a bit of shopping while I waited. Many items had brand new prices for USED items?! Many items were, in my opinion, too worn for sale. I don't get it. Maybe what the buyer meant to say is that my bag of things didn't look worn enough for them to buy it. Who gets duped into buying this stuff? To sell ? Absolutely not ! Went to try and sell my Coach, MK bags and a pair of nike air max shoes. There were a total of 2 MK bags, 1 MK wallet and 1 coach wallet all in brand new condition. They offered me $59 for ALL OF IT. I was shocked! I was looking at other MK purses that were definitely not as in good condition as mine and they were reselling them at $55. That's so sad they are trying to lowball you. The store is pretty big and has a lot to choose from. Prices were decent. read more

Don't shop here. Service is terrible. I just came to shop for a dress for Mother's Day and they wouldn't let me try anything on because they were closing in 15 minutes. I could have tried them on and been outta there before closing because I'm fast. They didn't do any announcements to warn shoppers of the dressing rooms closing and I'm not going to buy anything without trying them on. I have been in here a few times over the years. I gave it two stars because a year ago I found two items I liked. It looks like an overpriced thrift store. A lot of the clothes have snags on them. I buy really nice clothes at various stores. I decided to bring in three bags of clothes to try to sell them. Most of the clothes I never wore or I wore once . They are still in style. Constantly coming here to shop! I've really found some gems here over the years! Only thing to complain about recently is their selling budget. I've come in right at opening and upon coming back to see how much I was getting for my clothes, I got told that they hit the budget for the day and to bring my clothes back (?) I think it's a better option to just tell me they aren't accepting buys anymore as a whole. No way am I coming back with my clothes to potentially get told they hit their budget for the day again. Very mediocre service since walking in. I tried trading with them, and honestly I knew they weren't going to take any clothes when I walked in because they never do. I just wanted to shop and see if I can donate them at least. (Which they don't anymore,so you gotta carry everything you brought in with you.) While I was shopping I noticed the girl who looks through the clothes to see if they'll buy literally just throwing them out of one bag into another without really considering anything. I had to look because I could literally hear her throwing them into the bin across the floor. When I got to the counter to make a purchase and pick my stuff up, the girl Amy in the most "robotic" voice I've ever heard, read off the receipt or policy they had on there, that they were "so sorry they couldn't take any of my clothes" but like in a sarcastic reading off a receipt tone. It really pissed me off to the point here I am writing a review, and not made me want to buy anything there again. Not that I need an apology they couldn't take anything, it was the fact it as so scripted she had to read a receipt to tell me just that without making any eye contact. I overheard a couple girls talking about the same level of service as I was shopping, so it we not just me who noticed how the counter girls were. DO NOT SELL YOUR CLOTHES HERE. This place used to be great store to sell gently used clothing, but instead of any of my lululemon polos (only had the tags cut off because they're too long and annoying but otherwise BRAND NEW), Travis Matthew clothing, brxton, and other popular brands (which most of isn't even a year old) they just continue to buy Amazon basics, Costco, or the ugliest graphic clothing. The "buyers" seem like they are high schoolers and go based on opinion without doing any actual research on the item. They haven't offered to buy any of my stuff for the last ~5 trips except a 5+ year OLD Nike golf shirt for about $2.50!! I only put it in there as a test since it's obviously outside of their advertised buying timeline but that's what they wanted instead of anything that actually makes sense. The clothes is priced well and the people who work there are pretty nice. But after 3 days in a row of them saying they're under staffed and won't take clothes due to it. Then finally getting my clothes in, with a 3 hour wait (no big deal I understand), they didn't want anything. Some of my clothes had tags on them as well (and I felt) was in style of what they had for sale. They said it was due to high inventory but it's hard to say they're a good business after everything. Had a bad experience yesterday this shirt didn't have a Plato's price tag, I went up to Alice a worker she seemed bothered and rolled her eyes, i basically I interrupted her I felt like. She gave me an overpriced tag, clearly you see the tj max price. I went back asked her she said rudely "yep that's our price" after I asked if it's still $20 after being $16.99. I've gone to this location multiple times to sell clothes not only they give you like $2 to $5 max per item but this store is so overpriced they don't sell much last time I checked they weren't taking anymore clothes clearly because they have so much they don't sell.
