New to Chicago and needed to find a local dentist for annual cleanings and oral health. Tilden was suggested through my insurance portal so I called to make an appointment (2 weeks was earliest availability). Prior to the appointment I received e-documents to complete (normal paperwork), multiple appointment reminder texts, and confirmed insurance coverage. Upon arrival, I was greeted very friendly by the receptionist and was escorted back ~5 minutes later. I emailed previous oral history, x-rays so only needed to take a few x-rays and then Dr. Tilden came in to complete the cleaning. He said everything looked good, I'm just use to more scraping and cleaning (maybe they are just more OCD) and I wasn't offered a fluoride rinse. None of that is a deterrent for me to be a return client. Best part was I received a new toothbrush, toothpaste, and floss as a parting gift! All that was missing was a piece of candy but I get it (lol)! read more

During covid I neglected to visit a dentist for any routine cleanings and x-rays because funds were so tight for me. Unfortunately because I put my health on hold to save money I actually developed a phobia of scheduling a cleaning for fear of what might be going on with my teeth! Fortunately I came across The Tilden Group while doing errands locally and scheduled a cleaning and x-rays because they were running a new patient special that made the visit extremely affordable especially because I currently don't have dental or medical insurance. Taylor was extremely sweet and she prepared me for my x-rays then explained everything she saw on her screen. I was relieved to find out I didn't have any cavities or major issues and Dr. Zachary spent a lot of time giving my teeth a thorough deep cleaning without charging me extra. He used a solution from a streaming jet that cleaned my gums and targeted two years of plaque build-up. He then recommended I purchase a Burst electric toothbrush and showed me how to use it and proper flossing techniques. I felt extremely comfortable during the entire dental exam and I rescheduled a follow up cleaning in three months just to make sure I don't ignore my teeth and gums again. i started going to this dentist office because 1) it close to my work and 2) a friend had recommended the office because of Dr. Courtman (now known at Dr. Emery who I go to at Sugar Fix Dental - see my review for further info). but after Dr. Emery left, my experiences at this office went downhill... enter Dr. "Eddie" Rahgian - first of all, after Dr. Emery left, there was only 1 doctor at their office in my network, so Dr. Eddie was the only doc i could go to - so right there, i had an issue - it was hard to get an appointment with him, being the only doc that i could see. i had to come in on a saturday, which i don't enjoy, but that was the only time i could get in there for my regular check-up. the office has always been really nice and so was Dr. Eddie, but after looking at my teeth (that most dentists say are perfect, i have had 2 cavities in my entire life) - he said that something was up with my front tooth...that it was possibly infected, from what he saw on the X-ray. the story about my tooth goes a lil' something like this - in 7th grade i was on a fast-pitch travel softball team. i was playing 2nd base, a grounder came toward, i got in position to get the grounder and pop, it hit a rock and jumped up and hit my 2 front teeth - pushing them back to the roof of my mouth. i had emergency dental surgery that night and they healed after 6 months. Dr. Eddie referred me to a specialist - and said that i had to get it looked at and the next step might be to get veneers from him, which would be sooooo expensive. i saw the specialist and it only took him a few minutes to see that my teeth were fine, the reason Dr. Eddie thought I had bacteria was because my root does not connect to my tooth, HUGE oversight. the specialist co-pay for $50 (thanks Dr. Eddie). money i did not need to spend. my friend who goes to him too, was told by him that she had 3 cavities, when in fact, she didn't have any, and her mother who is a dental assistant was able to figure that out. after that experience i left Dr. Tilden & Associates and now go to Dr. Emery at Sugar Fix Dental, where they don't try and rip me off! read more

I had my first visit with this group on 3/13. It started off well, I was able to get an appointment rather quickly. When i arrived, was seen promptly as this visit was before work. My dental hygenist was very professional, and nice. I couldn't have asked for more..We discussed by last visit with the dentist being 5 years ago, due to life circumstances, moving, stress, separation, etc. well as the visit continues... IN WALKS "HIM". The introduction was swift, it was Tilden....He looks in my mouth, says absolutely nothing... no a word, no a grunt, nothing, and proceeds toward the door. My hygenist asks, are there questions for the dentist. I asked who? because, some man just came into the room, probed by mouth and gums and walked away without explanation. Now he was not to be my dentist, it was Dr. Rahgian, who was not present that day. He replied you have decay on a tooth, do you suck on candy all day.. at that point, it took everything in me not to comment., nor does such an ignorant statement justify a response. Total violation of patient trust!!! Absolutely avoid! If it wasnt for Dr. Raghian I probably would have given a half a star if I could. Dr. Raghian is great. I have never had any complaints with him and I dont think I ever would. He is superbly funny and kind and really cares about his patients. I have never worked with Dr. Tilden except for one cleaning appointment and he was very friendly and caring. My issue is with the staff and the level of unprofessionalism displayed by the office staff and the remarkable tolerance there is for this sort of unprofessionalism. After a recent appointment, I was sent a survey by the office to know how they are doing and what my comments and concerns are regarding the office and the services. I believe its my duty to be honest when a business shows that much concern that they want to know what their customers think and thats exactly what I did. I was honest with my reviews and my OPINIONS. The day I answered the survey I had an unpleasant encounter with their office manager, Kristin. And just based on that day I wrote my feelings and opinions which I was asked for by the office. Two days later, after getting a response to the survery apologizing and that the issue will be addressed, I get a call from Kristin and at my follow up appointment I get confronted by her in person, in the office about what I wrote in the survey! She was unapologetic and very confrontational. I couldnt believe what I was facing. Never have I experienced this sort of confrontation for my opinion and my perspective, that was asked OF ME! Operative word being MY view point. Of all the types of business that opinions and reviews are written about, the last place you expect to be confronted about what you write is a health care provider! Total breach of trust! If the office or its staff dont like the opinions expressed about them then they shouldnt ask for them or ignore them. But to confront your patients and harass them is absolutely a breach of patient trust! Not only that, but the other office manager or whatever the title maybe was also there, and being Dr. Tildens wife you would expect that she would step in and prevent her staff from putting their patient in this sort of position. I would have willingly continued my care with Dr. Raghian if he has any other offices, but I wouldnt go back to this office as long as this sort of behavior is tolerated. read more

I am struggled with teeth after treatment. I don't feel they are decent, modest dentists. Also their office doesn't look professional with family personal pictures and painting a lot. They don't explain well before procedure. Even ask something,I couldn't get enough information. I think it's arrogant style. Just recommended next treatment. Their treatment is rough, I saw many bribes after treatment in my mouth. They are worst dentists in my life. (I have connected with dentists since a little and I have a few dentist friends .) I was about loose tooth unless I didn't insist keep my teeth. They are very aggressive to fix cavities even a cavity is tiny. I don't like to shave tooth too much. Everyday I suffer to feel sensitivity on a tooth which it got simple filling. I feel just, didn't fit them,unfortunately. They could work on others, hopefully. read more

My experience with Tilden Dental Group in a letter previously sent to the practice. It is in response to the outstanding charge of $100 mentioned in the opening. Dear _____: You should receive a check for $100 by next Monday. Over three visits spanning two weeks, your practice neglected to diagnose a damaged nerve following fillings by your own dentists. For two weeks, I dealt with an immense amount of pain and inconvenience before finally having a $1300 root canal. Dr. Tilden was in the process of sending me home on this third visit when I explained that I was no longer able to sleep because of the pain. I agreed to have the initial cavities filled under the incorrect and misleading guidance that the procedure or at least some of its costs "might be covered." You knew for a fact that I was still within the 6-month coverage limit on major procedures and failed to say, "this procedure is not covered by Humana and the costs incurred will be solely out-of-pocket." After these misdiagnoses and manipulations, $400 paid upfront, and $1300 spent on a root canal, I received a bill for the additional charges of $200 (including charges for uncomfortable and slow x-rays which you yourself, _____, said would be comped). I remain genuinely puzzled by these additional charges when, it is I, following an experience wrought with neglect and mistreatment, who should pursue further action towards compensation of the initial treatments and perhaps beyond. The failure to offer this compensation and furthermore pursue additional charges is a gross misstep in patient and customer care and is testament to the practice's great disregard for the individual client. The fillings done by the practice continue to cause me discomfort and I genuinely regret having proceeded beyond a cleaning with Tilden Dental Group. I learned a valuable lesson about trust when dealing with a new medical provider and, though I was quite naïve, will never again leave my insurance verification in the hands of my provider. I had been a patient for 4 years at Dr. Tilden's office. I say "had" because of my experience this morning. Before this morning, I had had similar experiences to the other two reviewers -- never had a cavity in my life until I saw them at the age of 24 and suddenly had 3 cavities over the next year. I never had a second opinion, and am starting to think I should have. But I convinced myself they were just being thorough and kept going.... Until this morning. I had an appointment that took forever to obtain because (1) they never responded to my email (which according to their website is one way of setting up appointments and (2) once I finally did talk to someone, finding an opening was challenging. Then this morning, I was running 10 minutes late due to a delay on the redline. I called the office 5 minutes before my appointment time to let them know, and was then put on hold for over 5 minutues. I hung up once it became clear they had forgotten about me. And besides, by then I was only about 5-10 minutes from the office. I arrived and was informed that my appointment was given away. I had an 8:00AM appointment and was told at 8:10 that the hygenist, Evita, had already taken her next patient and could see me in 40 minutes. What office doesn't give a 10 minute grace period?? (By the way -- since Evita had already taken her patient, that means that she actually gave me even less than a 10 minute grace period!) This is not the first time I've run into problems with this office. The great irony is that don't think I've ever waited less than 20 minutes for my appointment, even when I've arrived early. This office is incredibly poorly run and I do not have confidence in the quality of either the doctors or hygenists. Worst of all, when I told them that I was disappointed in how they were handling this and that they were risking losing a patient after 4 years, they could not have cared less. I will not be back. I recently moved downtown and needed to switch dentists so I decided to try out Tilden Dental. This was a mistake. The dental exam felt rushed. I arrived 5 minutes early for my appointment (the first of the day), but the hygienist called me 10 minutes past the specified time. She was also was very talkative and did not spend a thorough job on my mouth as compared to other dental offices. Dr. Tilden came in the last 5 minutes of the visit and said very little to me except I need to get my wisdom teeth out and to come back in a few weeks to get 3 small cavities filled (both issues my old dentist had known but didn't think it was necessary to work on). They also are too expensive. My insurance covers 100% for routine procedures up to a certain limit. All of the charges on my bill were above the insurance limit so I needed to cover the difference. In the future I will be going back to my old dentist in the suburbs. read more

I had to have all of my teeth capped due to a genetic disorder that degraded my enamel, and he did a fantastic job: 15 years later I still get compliments on my teeth and smile. DO NOT GO TO THIS DENTAL OFFICE. I am a "seasoned" patient - and have many old fillings from the early 90s when I was a child. At times those old silver amalgam fillings can crack and depending on the state of the tooth a dentist will offer a course of action. I should also note that I see a dentist regularly - minimum two times a year, depending if I need work done. So when I moved to Chicago this winter I made an appt. with Dr. Eddie - thinking I only needed a cleaning. He told me I had 6 old silver fillings that needed to be replaced. I questioned him initially saying I knew they were deep and in the past I've had porcelain onlays. He assured me that it was necessary and would be fine. Being the patient, I went with it against my better judgement. He replaced four deep molar fillings and put composite in there. This was absolutely the wrong decision and it is my belief that it was not done in my best interest, but rather his. A week later I went to see Dr. Tilden to ask if this was normal and he brushed me off and said no big deal. After three weeks of sheer pain, I went to another Dentist and the new x-rays showed four fillings down to my nerves. I have had two root canaled in a week's period - at my expense - and will likely have to have the other two done. So four root canals and four crowns needed because why? That's what I'm trying to answer. I intend to file a complaint with the state dental board as well as the Better Business Bureau. If you were intending to visit this dentist, I urge you to re-evaluate your options. read more

The receptionist, an attractive lady with dark hair and silver highlights, is the absolute worst! :( The first time I came in to make the appointment she was in the back room for a looong time before coming to assist the line of 3 people waiting at the desk. Then on the day of my appointment I find out she scheduled me for a cleaning and xrays, not the nightguard appointment with the Dr. I thought I was making. She flippently offered to "fit me in" later, but I work full time and am a single mom, my time is extremely important. I was told I would have to come back in and have them filled. I found out that my roommate also had this happen to her and paid over $200 out of pocket. I've been a regular patient of Dr. Tilden's for about 3 years now. They have always been outstanding with my patient care, always top of the line service, super duper friendly staff... I honestly can't say enough about this office. But the reason why I'm finally writing a review is because I had my regularly scheduled hygiene appointment yesterday followed up with a whitening procedure by Evita.... 1. The cleaning was amazing as always (Evita is so gentle yet so thorough in every visit) 2. The whitening procedure that I had done right after was INCREDIBLE.... it lasted a total of 10 minutes... it's called ProQuick... and I'm not afraid to say that I am completely obsessed with whitening... so i've been through all kinds of whitening procedures.... this by far was #1. Evita painted a gel on my teeth, then covered it with a coating that hardens immediately and you are then LITERALLY able to leave with it on your teeth and go about your day. It has to stay on your teeth for an hour then you can brush it right off... and voila.... super white teeth... dare I say even better than BriteSmile or Zoom. I loved everything about it and most of all how my dental office is always current on technology and new products that are coming out in the dental field. I now have told several of my friends about this new whitening procedure in particular because hey... who wouldn't want to get whiter teeth in literally 10 minutes with no mess... no sitting forever... no sensitivity (and I was EXTREMELY sensitive in the past to whitening products). After my 2nd visit with practice, I am thinking to find another dentist. My spouse comes here and raves about technicians/receptionists. So I came to the practice with high hopes. My disposition is not with technicians/receptionists but with doctor/wife(Practice Manager). After my current visit I decided to read more about the practice and to only find I am not the ONLY one who has come across issues. On my recent visit to practice I entered with no greeting from front desk, the red head woman was sitting in lobby area with another gentleman going through photos on cell phone and speaking in a flirtatious manner. I sat down and waited. The technician came out and was surprised I was here, she took me back and proceeded to clean my teeth. Moments later I get a cell phone call and realize that it was the dental office I was at calling me and asking me where I was!?!? I stated that I was here and in the chair!!!! I thought to myself if you weren't flirting with gentleman in front lobby you would have seen I was here for my appointment. I have other colleagues whom are patients at the practice and told me about issues they have had here. I now see this practice is NOT professional. Further more I see from other reviews they place blame on patients and don't take responsibility for their actions. I originally went here because I lived in the building. What a mistake! I went in to get some fillings done with the younger Dr. Tilden. A month later, I went to California for 2 weeks on business. 2 days into my business trip, I experienced some of the worst pain I've ever experienced in a few of my fillings. I went to a dentist in California, who said that the fillings were not done well, and that my teeth were not lining up. The California dentist checked my bite, drilled down a few spots, and sent me on my way. I was ok for a few weeks, but the pain returned. I went back to the office and saw the older Dr. Tilden. He checked my bite, did a little more drilling, and sent me on my way. My teeth actually hurt WORSE now. Oh my god! I am on my way to finding a new dentist because this a new dentist because this is NOT the place for me. I am new to Chicago and was looking for a dentist. I am from Colorado and unfortunately had to leave my dentist of about 10 years. I was on my way home and I came upon Dr.Jordan Tilden's office ( in the building I live in). I thought that it was so convenient because they were so close. I cannot express how wrong I was. My first appointment was strange. I approached the front desk to sign in, and was surprised that the secretary was not only ignoring me, but she was on her cell phone!!!! I waited a good 5 minutes until she took time out to check me in. I had a few questions about my insurance....this is what she told me.." Ummm the person that deals with that isn't here right now, but I can leave a note for her". That is when I should have turned around and walked out.If they can't hire a person that knows what they are doing, what kind of place is this? I then sat in the waiting room for an hour past my appointment time. The hygienist was really nice...I think her name was Nor. ( she was the only good part) The doctor came in to check me, and he said that everything was fine except for 3 cavities. He wasn't friendly or welcoming. He spent a whole 3 minutes in my room. 2 of the minutes were spent telling me how bad these cavities were and that I needed to get them done immediately!! I was really shocked because I had just seen my dentist in Colorado 3 months prior, and didn't have any cavities then. Dr. Tilden scared me into scheduling another appointment , but I was still leery. When I was leaving, I just laughed because the secretary was now on Facebook with her back to me ignoring me. I just left because there wasn't even anything to say, and I knew that I wouldn't be back. My second experience with them was when I called to have my records and xrays transferred. I spoke with someone name Brandel, who claimed to be the office manager. She harassed me with questions on why I wanted my records. I was honest with her....she didn't like that too much.I told her that her staff with exception to the hygienist was immature, rude and unprofessional. All she kept doing was listing the accomplishments of Dr.Tilden and that I was making a mistake. After fighting this "office manager" for 10 minutes I gave up. I ended up finding a wonderful dentist that doesn't try to suck me dry of money. I will NEVER return to Dr.Tilden's office. read more

The dentist and general office environment are extremely unprofessional. It's more like a manicure place trying to up sell you a massage than a "doctor's" office. Like some of the other reviewers I had the experience of being told I had a cavity (have never had one before in my life), then when I told them I was a doctor (M.D.) and would like to see the imaging myself they quickly backpedaled and said it was a "pre-cavity" and I should get it filled as a precaution. Yeah right. I went to an academic dentist at Northwestern who said there was no cavity, also the hygenist was more thorough. And finally, my insurance is supposed to cover the whole visit, but I got a bill for $60 in the mail. I called to check on it and they told me it was for a cancer screening that wasn't covered by insurance. Well, their so called "cancer screening" is to have you swish with acetic acid (common household vinegar) then see if there are any white spots in your mouth. This is semi-legitimate - it's how gynecologists look for dysplasia on colposcopy (similar to pap smears), but it costs about 10 cents and I have no risk factors for oral cancer - young, non-smoker. So basically this place is an exercise in sleazy money grubbing. And if you do go there, please get a second opinion before having your teeth drilled. read more
