As someone who has struggled to find a dentist for years, I'm so relieved to have found Dr. Yousef and his hygienists, who go above and beyond to make you feel comfortable throughout your visit. Nurse was very rough this was the finish result very sore bloody gums and I don't have any gum disease or cavaties . I asked to speak with a doctor to check my gums after and was told by the front desk brunette that the doctor had left for the day and had no other options for me as a patient. I would *NOT* recommend this office for complex smile makeovers. Would you keep an appointment when the front desk keeps mixing up your chart? There is a language barrier because some of the receptionists are not native English speakers. They never followed up on procedures my insurance said they might pay for. There's a lot of miscommunication that is not common at most dentist offices. Just to schedule an appointment, they force you to pay a 20% deposit (the total of all my procedures would be about $15K) . Let alone pay 20% ahead of time? I've already paid them $2.5K for other work in my smile makeover plan. I currently have two implants done by their office that aren't crowned nor did they give me temporary crowns. Instead implants were placed through my permanent bridges by drilling into them per suggestion of the doctor. I'm probably experiencing bone loss and will require bone grafting ($1-2K). If you have any combination of missing teeth, prior work such as bridges, and/or crooked teeth it will be very difficult to get clear and concise steps from their office. While getting a 2nd opinion from another dentistry there were multiple procedures they found that were partially covered by my insurance. SOM's office told me to ignore the amount insurance would pay on the quote sheet because everything i was getting done was purely cosmetic. I decided to inquire with my insurance company directly but to give me a potential answer they needed to see all the work i was considering to get done on all teeth. When I asked their office for a full quote sheet that gives breakdown of costs, they told me it was already provided to me. Let's be clear, I had an old quote sheet from 2018 that was no longer accurate. They told me to combine the 2018 quote sheet and use this weird makeshift word document without a letterhead that had spelling errors and no billing codes. Insurance found it very sketchy and assumed I created it and made up the prices myself, fun times. I ended up having to cancel my appointment day before because I had to make sure that my flex spending account would cover some of the changes to my smile makeover plan. They then told me if i want to schedule an appointment I need to pay 20% deposit. They don't force people with insurance coverage to pay to schedule. Insurance companies pay lower prices , don't pay same day, and may even reject a claim. I'm paying out of pocket, immediately with cash day of appointment but yet i'm the one they need 20% upfront to just schedule? Complete BS. Board certified plastic surgeons don't even do that. I'm someone who was not blessed with the best teeth genetically (to be fair, some dental damage was my own fault) and I've had to pay a lot of money for my teeth over the years and I'm not even 30. This would have been my 4th major dental procedure and I don't have many front upper teeth to work with anymore. My concern was getting something I knew would be worth it, functional and last for maybe the next decade. I think the plan created by the doctor was good but ultimately, there was too much miscommunication with the front desk. They didn't understand any of the smile makeover plans created by the doctor. I continuously had to come into the office to ask about the plans directly w/ the doctor which of course got annoying for me and i'm sure everyone else involved. Anytime I'd inquire on the plans for the next procedure, they'd get key information wrong. It was very bizarre and stressful. I had to take a lot of initiative to get clarity on teeth shape, shade of whiteness, process for molds, ask for mock ups etc. They never talked with me about any of that, i had to inquire with them. Otherwise there was a possibility they were going to create a final result without my input. The first office I went to for a 2nd opinion the front desk could explain everything flawlessly. Most importantly, they followed up with my insurance and found a few things that were covered which does help me a lot. I'm not sure why Smile on Michigan never even tried to inquire with my insurance or ignored the columns on the quote sheet that said insurance *might* pay. I think this place is probably good if you're just getting standard veneers and your teeth are already in pretty good shape but if you have any combo of existing implants, bridges, missing teeth, gaps, etc it becomes too complex. There's too large of a communication barrier in the office. I have drained my savings before to pay for dental procedures, knowing they didn't even try to inquire with insurance really burns me up. I know what it's like to sit in a dentist chair for 3+ hours then have to come back the next day to get MORE work done. Knowing that I would have to go through something similar again but not having clarity on the makeover plan or a simple quote sheet, I just couldn't do it. No one should, especially if paying almost $15K out of pocket. I regret starting my smile makeover with this office. read more

Easily the best dentist I've been to. The entire staff was friendly and accommodating from the time I reached out to schedule an appointment through the time I finalized my payment. After describing my concerns to Dr. Yousef and the team, they provided a list of options available and gave me the prices, benefits and considerations of each one. I tend to wait a bit longer than my appointment time, which is irritating. Also, my most recent dental procedure overcorrected my bite (a crown). It verged on cosmetic, as the dentist wasn't just striving to save my tooth, but also to make it so my bite was more perfect. I didn't ask for that. Overall a decent dentist, though! read more

I thought they were kind of money minded. Since they knew I had insurance they recommended procedures I didn't need that were pricier than the procedure I needed and wanted. I know this because I sent out the x-rays to other dentists. I really did not enjoy my experience I will never go back. I also thought it was very unhygienic. They had construction going on when I went, and the operating area wasn't even secluded. Just a curtain separated it from the entire office (so imagine the dust flying around). I've been looking to visit a dentist office for a few months now and came across this gem. It's a bit tough to locate, but Angie provided excellent directions and did not express any sort of negativity of me calling a few times to locate the office. There are two ways of getting to the office located next to protein bar there is a lobby with stairs to the rightst; you walk up those stairs and follow the hallway until you get to a front desk reception where you sign in and take the elevators to the 3rd floor to suite #323. The hygienist took me back to prep me up with my first visit with X-rays. She was pleasantly very chatty and cheery, keeping the atmosphere lively. I was seen by Dr. Al Yousef, whom presented himself in a very sweet, calm manner. He explained my X-ray photos for me and showed where some work needed to be done. He reassured me that he would do his best to make sure I was comfortable and explained the procedure he was going to perform. He also mentioned any signals for me to provide if I was feeling any pain or discomfort (which I can happily say didn't have to use!) During the procedure he explained what he was doing and the instrument he was using was for. He also asked if I was okay and he made fun conversation to keep my mind off the procedure. It got a bit chilly, so the hygienist provided a soft, clean blanket for me to have. At the end of the procedure the hygienist picked out a tooth cap color and showed me for my approval, which I appreciated. All in all, this practice very much exceeded my expectations. Dr. Al Yousef is gave off a caring atmosphere that only depicts the best for his patients. He did not try to sell or push anything, he provided more than one option of treatment and allowed me to pick which procedure I wanted to go through. This is definitely a practice I will be coming back to and referring to my friends and family. read more

I was in Chicago on travel and needed some emergency work done after a tooth infection. They took me in the same I called, diagnosed me, then saw me again a few days later (they wanted to fix me up right then and there but I was in town for work and had to get back) and performed the root canal. They then ordered me a crown and installed it a week later. I was there for two weeks for business, and within that timeframe they took me in as a new patient, then fixed me up before my trip was even over. Entire staff was very friendly and professional, as was the Dr. since I come to Chicago at the same time every year, I actually scheduled a cleaning/X-ray with them for 2018. The office is staffed by competent and friendly people. I started going there as a result of my unhappiness with another dental office by my home which could not resolve a gum inflammation I had after three visits. I was assessed- scheduled for a laser removal of excess tissue around my bridge- given options on how to improve my smile over the next year. This alone was the one thing I could not get out of my previous dentist. I think when some companies get too big it becomes rush rush and lack of spending time to see how we can reach a "smile goal".Amazingly no cavities after my previous dentist said I did. I am going back to get bonding done on my teeth where I have some gum recession and possibly invisalign this year to help align my teeth again. I have been a patient at this practice for over 15 years and have enjoyed the staff that work here. Angie has been great with the cleaning and Norin is absolutely great at billing and setting up appointments. They have always been great with setting up emergency appointments and filling up with me on my regular cleaning appointments. Today however I went in for fillings that had been long overdue. I was reluctant to get it done as my earlier experiences with the previous dentist had not been positive and I kept reliving that all the time. I however wanted to go in with an open mind with the new dentist Dr.Bader and boy was I impressed. He was very thorough, made sure I was numbed well with topical before giving me the anesthesia shots and I never even felt any pain or pressure. Also, he was very good with customer experience and kept checking with me to see if I was okay - no jokes while working on my teeth- extremely professional and excellent bedside manner. Smiles on Michigan is the best dental practice I've ever been to because of their skilled and friendly staff, location, and convenient experience. Very competent office. Had a root canal two weeks ago and just had the permanent crown put on. Dr. Yousef was pleasant and explained what was happening step by step, making sure I gave my informed consent. I take off a star because the facilities really aren't built for someone of my size, 6'2" and 440. But considering I'm taller than 98% and fatter than 99% of the folks in this country, I don't hold it against them too much. read more

I was having so many doubts with city doctors after my first horrible experience with the dentist at the Art Modern Dentistry. I was very happy to find this office and Dr Yousef. I had a toothache and was in so much pain that I couldnt handle it anymore. I ended up extracting the tooth due to heavy infections, and was very surprised to find how quickly and efficiently Dr Yousef was. He made it painless for me, and he was good at making me feel better during the procedure. He was attentive and fast with my toothache. I love the doctor and the staff for their skill sets, friendliness, honesty, and helpfulness under my circumstances. They didn't push me to do procedures I don't need nor try to get me to do more work than I need at the moment. They presented the situation, gave me options, shared their insights, and let me decide whats best for me. Given my insurance is also maxed out and not all procedures can be done at the same time, the doctor was very nice and helpful telling me to hold off and wait for my new insurance to kick in. I would come back for cleaning and other work done since I have been holding off for a good doctor to come along whom I can trust, and I am glad that I had waited for Dr Yousef to take care of me. I will continue to come to him for other work done because I trust him, which is so important for me.
