Located steps away from the 77 bus line, I found Smile on Dental easy to get to. I noticed chains like 7-11 and some local theaters located near the service. I called the office to schedule a first time appointment & I inquired about cost to verify my out…read moreof pocket. I provided my insurance plan information, she confirmed if it was a PPO plan which I confirmed it is & the receptionist went on to state insurance would cover the cost as it was just a basic oral evaluation with X-rays & a teeth cleaning (although I knew with my plan I would only be responsible for a $50 deductible) I had no issues during my appointment & I paid my $50 deductible at the end of my appointment. It wasn't until I received a text on 2/15/25 indicating that I apparently had a balance of $63, that everything went SOUTH. Upon receiving that text, I called my insurance. They stated a payment was made to the provider, that the balance is $113 which is also indicated on the EOB & that the reason for the balance being higher than only my $50 deductible is because the provider is a Premier Provider & not a PPO provider so they are billing the insurance for a higher amount & they are balance billing the patient I then called the office. The receptionist initially stated there is a balance because the insurance didn't pay. We both had the EOB in front of us & I indicated what it showed that the insurance paid. She then went on to say that there was no payment for the first line item being billed (the oral eval)... I also mentioned that the insurance stated they are a Premier Provider, not a PPO provider so I'm being balance billed & the receptionist said it has nothing to do with that... I immediately called my insurance back. They confirmed again that yes, the provider is indeed a Premier Provider & they are balance billing. The insurance confirmed again that they did make a payment, that there was no payment on the oral eval but that it indicates there was a total of $50 that went towards my deductible. I immediately called the office back & spoke with the same receptionist & reiterated again what the insurance told me. At that point I was to receive a call back Next, I received a call on 2/22/25 from who I'm assuming is their office manager, Rose. When I informed her that when I called the office prior to my appointment to verify my cost & was told this would be covered, meaning no out of pocket besides the $50 deductible I knew I would have to pay, Rose went on to say that she finds that hard to believe considering her girls (the receptionists) have been there for quite some time & was essentially insinuating that I was lying about being told that. (An extremely disheartening experience & for her to insinuate that, it left a bad taste in my mouth). She also tried to guilt me by saying how hard it is for practices to stay open these days (which felt like manipulation) On 3/1/25 as shown in a photo of the text exchange I posted, it confirms that Rose stated I am correct in that it was told to me by their staff that this would be covered 100%. $63 is not necessarily a significant amount of money but it is the principal of the matter in which I was told my insurance would cover the cost of services (outside of my ded) but the office REFUSES to hold themselves accountable for their error & the misinformation I have gotten on more than one occasion & they REFUSE to answer any of my questions or address any of my concerns. When met with facts, they completely ignore them PLEASE SEE PHOTOS OF THE TEXT EXCHANGE I INCLUDED I still have yet to receive a call from the Dr as requested on 3/5/25 & I'm now being ignored by the office as I haven't gotten a text back & it's been a week as of today (3/23/25) since I sent my last message. I had no issues with Dr. Al's care. Unfortunately my experience is a reflection of the practice as a whole In dealing with the balance billing, the office was EXTREMELY unprofessional in how this was handled & how I was spoken to. The office REFUSES to hold themselves accountable, especially when presented with facts & they made up a false courtesy discount that was somehow already applied prior to me calling regarding the issue which is UNETHICAL & DECEPTIVE because there was never any "courtesy discount" applied. I truly felt like I was being gaslit & have never experienced anything like this with a medical practice let alone a dental practice. Their lack of care, their lack of ability & unwillingness to hold themselves accountable as well as their dismissive behavior is exactly why I would never recommend this practice & is exactly why I will ALWAYS refer everyone elsewhere

Although my experience was lovely, as others have mentioned, it is astonishingly overpriced. I came in for a brief consultation (less than 30 minutes) and was charged $190.00. Sugar Fix's estimate on my basic dental work was over 200% higher than the price of the same work at another reputable dentist's office down the street that I recently consulted with. It is also atypical in that the cost of service is due up-front and out of pocket, to be later submitted to insurance for reimbursement (which I assume will decline to cover most of Dr. Dickinson's services, as it is apparent that she suggests whichever treatment is most expensive and/or cosmetic alternatives to optimize profit). If you are willing to pay thousands more at the dentist for a boutique atmosphere and a bottled water, I would highly recommend Sugar Fix. Once again, they are lovely, but the prices are laughable. I will personally be opting to forgo the $5 worth of freebies and will be going elsewhere to receive the same services for half as much (or next to nothing at dentists where insurance may actually be applied).

A friend suggested I try out sedation dentistry, and after reading a million reviews I picked Belmont Dental Care to get it checked out. Overall, the staff at BDC are kind and personable. The tech who does cleaning for sedation folks, Mark, has always been extremely patient with me. He also always tells me exactly what he's about to do before doing it, which is a big help. Whenever a friend mentions looking for a new dentist, I always recommend Belmont Dental Care. Incredibly, I can finally say that I don't absolutely dread appointments for cleanings, which I completely credit to BDC's thoughtful approach to treatment and also offering sedation. Polished is a fantastic Orthodontist office…read more My husband and I sought a place to give us an consultation on the likelihood that Invisalign would work for us because our dentist wasn't sure. The consultation was covered by my insurance so there was nothing to lose by going into the office. When I first arrived I knew they were taking the Covid precautions very seriously. They require the standard Covid questionnaire prior to coming into your appointment and take your temperature when you arrive. But they also provide you sanitized Crocs, leave your belongings in the front cubby, and require you to wash your hands before going to the back. I luckily was able to qualify for Invisalign along with my husband. Due to my crappy dental insurance it didn't cover the cost of the program but the office offered a discount if both my husband and I did the program together. Saving a little was better than nothing so I started the program in late October. They offer two plans for their Invisalign program, pay off all in full or pay a down payment and pay monthly payments. They offer a little bit more money off if you can afford to pay all up front. I really like that they try to work with you. I am happy that I am doing the program at the same time as my husband because they always pair our appointments and we are on a similar program. I like that they make us feel like family instead of a customer. The primary orthodontist is very friendly along with the rest of the staff. They are always willing to answer any questions that I may have regarding my treatment plan. I highly recommend going in at least for a consultation.
