Now for the cons. The campground definitely caters to a heavily Hispanic crowd, and the overall atmosphere just wasn't really our scene. There was a lot of loud Mexican music (Banda) playing throughout the campground. Thankfully, they now have quiet hours after 10 PM, which definitely helped. Another disappointment was the beachfront site. I paid $310 a night specifically to be right on the beach and enjoy the view, but right across from our site there was a large group with multiple tents and probably 10-15 people staying in each. For that kind of nightly rate, that really wasn't the beachfront experience or view I expected. There were also a few groups whose behavior made us uncomfortable, especially with kids around. We noticed gang-style signs, whistling back and forth, and other behavior that just didn't create a very family-friendly feeling for us. Lastly, I think the campground really needs better security and enforcement inside the property. At night, there were drunk guys trying to do wheelies on golf carts and driving around in ways that felt genuinely unsafe, especially with children and families walking around. With all that said, we stayed over Labor Day weekend, so I understand that it was probably much busier and crazier than a normal weekend. The location itself has a lot going for it, and I'd definitely be willing to give it another chance on a non-holiday weekend when it's hopefully quieter, less crowded, and a little more relaxed.

My son & I were really looking forward to fishing in the lake as their website mentions there is a lake there to fish out of. There is a LOT of reeds/marsh grass all along the lake. There are a few open spots where you are able to cast out your line, although you have to be very very careful when doing so or else you will get stuck in the trees/marsh grass and it is A PAIN to get your line out. We felt pretty defeated that we weren't able to fish. The staff that works here are so pleasant. This campground is great if you are looking to hike or bike. For fishing I would give it a 2/10. Also, you are able to cook here with a propane stove or on top of the firepit as the pits have a grill that you can place your pots & pans on top of. Or you can drive just 5 minutes away to get food if you don't want to cook. The campsites are small with very little shade. If you plan to camp out here, bring a canopy. Definitely worth a visit, don't think we will be back though. And that is only because we went to fish out of the lake.

We were able to fit 2 (4-6 person) tents very comfortably with lots of room to spare in one spot and 2 (8-10 person) tents in the other very tightly next to each other. We had a group of 4 adults and 12 children and were very comfortable in our 3 spots right next to each together.

The party also appeared to include excessive underage drinking, which was concerning at a family resort. We came here expecting a fun, relaxing family vacation, not two nights of disrupted sleep. It's unfortunate because we enjoyed our first stay, but this experience definitely makes us think twice about returning.

This review reflects our experience specifically as cottage guests, since those staying in RV spaces may have a very different experience. It was also our first visit to this RV resort, and we did not participate in many of the on-site activities. That said, we truly enjoyed our stay. The resort was very clean, the staff was welcoming and engaging with guests, and we appreciated how dog-friendly the property is. The location is also excellent -- conveniently close to the I-5 freeway, nearby walking and bicycling trails, downtown Chula Vista, and the newly built Gaylord Resort property less than half a mile to the south. While amenities such as the pickleball courts, swimming pool, hot tubs, and putting green looked inviting, we did not personally use them during this visit. We ate dinner at the on-site café both evenings, and every dish we ordered was reasonably priced, generously portioned, and served fresh and hot. The staff was friendly and attentive throughout. We tried the Baja Burger, Fish & Chips, Steak & Frites, Cheesesteak, crinkle-cut fries, pretzel buns, and churros -- all were delicious, and we would happily order them again without hesitation. Our bayside cottage was clean, well maintained, and offered beautiful views of the wildlife preserve between the resort and San Diego Bay. The two-bedroom layout provided more than enough space for us and our medium-sized dog. We especially enjoyed the fire pit, along with the covered first-level patio and uncovered second-level patio facing the bay. Although we didn't use the barbecue grill, it was spotless and clearly ready for guests to use for grilling steaks, burgers, hot dogs, or anything else they wished. This year we stayed in a deluxe cabin and it was absolutely perfect. plenty of bedding, air conditioning worked fantastic. The bedding in the bedroom downstairs was super comfortable. If we needed something immediately was brought to us. I love that they have an adult only Jacuzzi.. staff was incredibly nice and kind. I would definitely stay here again and recommend it. I do wish the café was open later 1:30 PM on some of the days during the week. I also love that it's very pet friendly. My dog is 15 and has terminal cancer, this cabin was the perfect way for her to enjoy our camping trip. Yes, there are mosquitoes but everywhere has mosquitoes. We used mosquito spray and we were fine. Looking forward to coming back.

There was an adult only hot tub as well as an everybody hot tub, this was nice to get a break from the kids the first night. The kids enjoyed the jumping pillows but it gets very hot in the sun so keep that in mind when choosing the time of day for that activity. The staff was friendly, the fish and chips from the shack were delicious, we had an enjoyable stay. The eco tent slept 6 of us comfortably and we made use of the fire pit and outdoor table and chairs. The only real complaint is that the pool area needed to be cleaned more often and that this place is a bit overpriced for the accommodations.

Campland is next door and as guests we are welcome to enjoy the amenities of that resort. Overall, Mission Bay RV is a great place to stay and I highly recommend it.

Plenty of room for multiple if you want to share. We were in site #108 on the outer edge with HWY 101 just above us. There was road/city noise, but we all became accustomed to it. The loud train crossing warnings and trains going by at night took some getting used to. The facilities are well maintained. The bathrooms were relatively clean. The showers need more hooks to hold your stuff. Showers run on tokens. One token gives you two minutes. The water gets hot fast and the pressure is good. Tokens are two for $1.00 at the main entrance. It is ridiculously difficult to get a reservation. Jump on-line six months in advance and keep at it. Calling usually yields very little success. If you can get lucky and get a spot, I totally recommend it!

San Elijo is a great beach and a great campground. During low tides, you have plenty of room to…read moreplay and the kids love it. There's a section of the beach toward the south where dogs can play totally legal. The only thing I would worn at this time of the year would be stingrays when the tide goes out it gets very shallow around the rocky parts and that's when you wanna be really careful. I got bit about a week or so ago and thank goodness that Macy was there as a lifeguard. I had my foot bleeding in a boiling water pail for 45 minutes, and then she told me what to do to get antibiotics and start them right away. It was really a great thing that a lifeguard didn't have to do but did.

All of it was fantastic and the views were breathtaking. The hiking trails are easy in my opinion with some hills or steps on one of them. You can pick what you want to do/from different trails and get out and enjoy the scenery. Of all my things to do in this area, this is one of my favorites for the scenery. I can't recommend it enough!

First time visiting Torrey Pines State Reserve, and the hiking trails and park itself were…read moreabsolutely stunning. We had limited time at the reserve, so we entered through the south entrance and paid $20 to enter and park. We then made our way up to the visitor center and had no issues finding parking. During our visit, we did the Guy Fleming Trail, which is a very easy and scenic 0.8-mile loop. The cliff views were dramatic and beautiful, and we also loved that the trail felt very peaceful and quiet. Afterward, we drove down to the beach lot and walked along the beach for about an hour to admire the cliffs from below. Overall, it was an amazing visit and one of our favorite stops in San Diego. I would definitely return again.

When we arrived she said were too early ( we were THREE minutes early ). I said isn't it almost time ? She snapped at me with "ya well there nobody here to check you in so either wait in line or go park over there" and then walked away . So if you're coming here , just know you'll have to wait in line until the EXACT time. I've been camping since I was a baby and I've never experienced such strict regulations . Other than that , spaces are small so I wouldn't recommend a large trailer . But it was great for three days !
