so beautiful and peaceful, great for a walk. There are benches on the trail to take in the view. A hidden gem on the island.

    Tons of sand dollars

The Silver Strand beach is so peaceful, cute sea shells , seals, dolphin and of big things jumping in the water. If you need to get away from everyone this is the place to go. Parking is $2.00 for 2 hours of parking $8.00 for the day

    So beautiful at sunset...

There are restrooms (bring toilet paper) and cold showers. It's a large dirt lot on a bluff overlooking the beach. Be careful of mosquitoes during the night (I got eaten alive my first night, but was prepared and didn't get bitten the second time I went). I'd strongly recommend hitting up a Soriana or Calimax (Mexico's major grocery/department stores) in Rosarito before you get there for firewood (it's cheaper there), beer, tequila, soft drinks and snacks. There is a little shop in a hotel to the south of the campgrounds that sells liquor but at twice the price of the aforementioned stores. There is an Oxxo (think 7/11) at the entrance of the campgrounds that you can get beer and snacks at regular (low) prices. There are also two little food carts next to it that you can get cheap food but aren't always open. Too the best of my knowledge there are 4 restaurants/bars in the town, all to the south of the campgrounds. My favorite is Lighthouse which had great views, two TVs that show American sports, $3 tacos, $4 Margaritas, $3 beer. For the fishers out there, this is a great spot. The waves weren't huge and I did get a bunch of hits while fishing, hooked one but it snapped the line. I'd recommend using a Carolina rig with shrimp or clams/mussels. I wanted to use San fleas but they were surprisingly hard to find (I spent fifteen minutes and could only find two).if you do catch something, the Lighthouse will fillet and cook it for you. For the surfers out there, this seems like a good spot for consistent waves but I didn't see any huge ones. You can also rent surfboards and boogie boards at the entrance to the campgrounds. And lastly, if you decide car camping isn't for you, you can get good rooms at the hotels for between $55-$200 dollars. I stayed one night in the hotel above the towns liquor store for $55. It had an ocean view and private patio, two twin beds, not heated showers though. La Fonda has the best rooms but the cheapest is almost a $100 with no ocean view (but their proxy rooms do look good with ocean views). Come out to this spot, it's an extremely good vacation for the price. P.S. Also, you'll need a car which you can get insured in San Ysidro, Ca. The main highway to get there has tolls, which are $2 per stop, remember to have singles on you (it's between 2-3 tolls to get down, same going back).

We spent 3 nights here in August of 2026 and were delighted that we did. It's an oasis in downtown Oceanside. The staff are delightful, the resort is very will organized and well maintained. There's a locked gate to enter a very short path to Buccaneer Beach. Spaces are concrete paved and the utilities are perfectly positioned. My only comment would be that there's not much room between spaces so it's tight, but still very maneuverable. Keep in mind, this is prime real estate close to the beach, so it's expected that they need to make the best use of their acreage. Paradise is a very neat place to get away.

We will be back as soon the summer hits. Walking distance to a beachy peninsular area. Onsite cornhole, chess, & connect four are in the hang area. There are trains all day long but never found it to be a major issue. The loudest noise is the duly and diesel trucks that are onsite inside camp. You can hear the ocean mostly. Definitely will be rebooking in the summer

The cottage can accommodate up to six guests, but our stay was just for me, my wife, and our wheaten terrier. This review reflects our experience specifically as cottage guests, since those staying in RV spaces may have a very different experience. It was also our first visit to this RV resort, and we did not participate in many of the on-site activities. That said, we truly enjoyed our stay. The resort was very clean, the staff was welcoming and engaging with guests, and we appreciated how dog-friendly the property is. The location is also excellent -- conveniently close to the I-5 freeway, nearby walking and bicycling trails, downtown Chula Vista, and the newly built Gaylord Resort property less than half a mile to the south. While amenities such as the pickleball courts, swimming pool, hot tubs, and putting green looked inviting, we did not personally use them during this visit. We ate dinner at the on-site café both evenings, and every dish we ordered was reasonably priced, generously portioned, and served fresh and hot. The staff was friendly and attentive throughout. We tried the Baja Burger, Fish & Chips, Steak & Frites, Cheesesteak, crinkle-cut fries, pretzel buns, and churros -- all were delicious, and we would happily order them again without hesitation. Our bayside cottage was clean, well maintained, and offered beautiful views of the wildlife preserve between the resort and San Diego Bay. The two-bedroom layout provided more than enough space for us and our medium-sized dog. We especially enjoyed the fire pit, along with the covered first-level patio and uncovered second-level patio facing the bay. Although we didn't use the barbecue grill, it was spotless and clearly ready for guests to use for grilling steaks, burgers, hot dogs, or anything else they wished. Overall, we had a wonderful stay and would absolutely consider returning for another local staycation.

Legitimately the absolute WORST singers we have ever heard. Think screeching drunk idiots yelling into a microphone while you are trying to enjoy your fire pit and relax. The most frustrating part was that we called staff and were told that since quiet hours didn't start until 11:00 p.m., nothing could be done regardless of how loud it was. The party also appeared to include excessive underage drinking, which was concerning at a family resort. We came here expecting a fun, relaxing family vacation, not two nights of disrupted sleep. It's unfortunate because we enjoyed our first stay, but this experience definitely makes us think twice about returning.

It sits right on the ocean bluff with two sides, bluff-side (oceanfront) and streetside. Obviously bluff-side is preferred, but staying on the streetside is still a treat. Just be sure to purchase tokens at the front for the shower. - Dog friendly! You can bring your pet along but they must be on leash and aren't allowed on the beach. - Carlsbad has the most captivating sunsets, and if you're lucky, you'll even see a few dolphins. I lucked out and found a super close parking spot in the neighborhood across the street. The beach itself was VERY short compared to sand length at other beaches so people were almost on top of each other. There was a pretty intense drop off about half way down the sand so it limited space for people to put down their stuff and lay out. I'm not sure how normal it is at this spot but there was a TON of rocks. It was way too much to be able to enter the water without having them beating your feet and ankles. My friend was bleeding after trying to check out the water. The surf was also a little intense that day so I'm wondering if that had any effect on the rock situation? This was a very clean beach with restrooms at the bottom of the ramp from the street so it did have that going for it but we decided to leave and head for a beach where we could safely go into the water that day. I'll have to come back another time to get a better idea.

We especially loved the fire pits, and the firewood delivery service was impressively fast and convenient. Our cabin was another highlight--spotless, thoughtfully appointed, and incredibly comfortable. The air conditioning worked perfectly, which made our stay even more enjoyable. Getting around the campground was easy, and it was simple to connect with other family members staying nearby. Despite seeing some reviews mentioning noise, we experienced none at all--just a peaceful, relaxing atmosphere. Check-in was quick and seamless, and every staff member we encountered was warm, welcoming, and genuinely helpful. Their friendliness really added to the overall experience. We wouldn't hesitate to stay here again and will absolutely recommend it to friends and family. Whether you're traveling as a couple or with family, this is a fantastic place to stay. Room - We rented the Deluxe Cabin (Full Bath with Shower), KOA Patio ® Sleeping Loft. One room had a queen-sized bed, another very small room had a bunkbed (2 beds total), there was a couch in the main area that folded out and there was a large loft space with what looked to be a queen-sized mattress. Note, you couldn't stand up in the loft (perhaps small kids could - I'm 5'2" and could not). Kitchen had decent sized fridge, stove, microwave, toaster, pots, pans, and utensils. Outside was a propane grill (worked great), a fire pit with 4 Adirondack chairs and tables and an umbrella covered picnic table with I believe 6 chairs. There was also a stand up bar height table by the fire pit. And I almost forgot the best part - one bathroom with sink, toilet and shower. Linens provided (bed and bath). Nearby activities: Very easy to travel to all the sites from this location (beaches, parks, zoo, etc.) SafetyI felt very safe staying here as a female. Food & drinks: They have a cafe of sorts on site but we did not check it out. Of note: Some of the outer perimeter tent campsites were right off the freeway. My cousin who stayed there said it was a little bit noisy. Where we were DC203 was very quiet and peaceful.

The moonlight created an almost mystical atmosphere, making the desert feel like another planet. We set up our tent beside a stone ramada with a table and fireplace. The cleanest toilet we've ever seen was just steps away, which was a luxurious touch. Since it wasn't peak season, typically from March to April when wildflowers are in bloom and again from autumn onward, the park was quieter. We checked in with the DIY machine at the entrance of the campground, and friendly ranchers were around to offer help if needed. One rancher suggested that if we wanted to hike, we should start early and finish by 8:30am before the temperatures began to rise. ( Just a tip: download a campsite map beforehand because there's no internet service in the park) The desert, lit up by the moon, looked like something from another world. Rugged rock formations and the wide open space felt never ending, and with the moonlight highlighting the cool details of the landscape. The desert was so quiet and empty, It felt like the world had melted away, leaving just us and the serene, mystical surroundings.. Next morning, the heat cut our hike short with our cat, and it was a bit of an ordeal. Cats can be more sensitive to the heat, and she had a breathing issue and gasping for air right after we started hiking. We had to quickly rushed back to the car to help her cool down. So just be aware if you plan to bring your pets along. Despite this, that night remained a magical mix of peace and wonder, a cherished experience that I'll never forget.

Tow my RV with a Ram 2500 diesel. The wife was coming up Saturday to stay a few hours and hang with the kids. She drove the hour and a half. Got to the gate and she was told that she couldn't stay, that they were full and no day use passes were being sold. I tried to explain I paid $200+ for my camp spot (which was big enough for three rvs) and could easily have her park well within my spot. They denied that and said no, she could park off in overflow and walk down. But they did say if she wanted to stay the night she could pay $25 extra. WTF. We just took her to lunch and she went home. There is a nice river flowing through the camp. Nice if you don't mind sharing it with thousands of people tent camping on top of each other. There were more tattoos and foul language floating around. Not to mention loud tent camper music, car alarms, yelling up until 10pm and then immediately at 7am again. Disgusting groups. They apparently have no limits on tent campers parking all over but RV spaces are limited to one rig and a pull vehicle. Amenities? Yeah right. Pool was closed, water splash pad was closed, bathrooms flooded and muddy, and lines to use them (especially showers). In the evening the only fun we had was watching the trashy people wait in line to use a nasty bathroom and shower -20-30 people deep at times. They even took the liberty to park in front of our trailer and vehicle so we couldn't leave. Thanks. This is the only campground I've ever been at where three tribal police officers patrol full time because the people staying there are ... trashy. Great concept for a campground but the clientele have totally messed this up. Stay at your own risk.
