I had my reservations, but I am a good sport, so I rolled with it. So Glad I did. The campground is new. The shower house and bathrooms are fantastic and kept clean. The grounds are kept up. We camped in April, so we were surrounded by daisy's and other wild flowers. I made my first ever daisy chain! We arrived in the evening of a day that had gotten up to 90 degrees. The ground radiated the heat it had absorbed during the day. There were nats that came out as we were setting up. But as soon as we sprayed the insect repellant, they were gone. It was quiet as we slept through the night. Every once in a while, you could hear faint drums and mariachi music coming from the direction of the bull fighting arena. We had a great time. hiking to the beach, and a group of us enjoyed the farmer's market on Saturday. I wish there was more shade, but there are baby trees all over, and one could just imagine what it will be like in 10 years. You do have to cross over the STINKY Tijuana river to get there. However, there were very few cases where the smell from the river reached the campground. We stayed in Campsite 25, the table was sturdy, the fire pit is a new design I had not seen before. It does not allow the heat from the fire to reach a person sitting in a chair very easily. Be sure to tie down your tent and shade awning if you are using it, because the wind can blow hard during the day. Several in our group stayed in the Yurts. They were very nice inside, and not as hot as you might expect. The mattresses looked like thick thermarest air mattresses. that are resistant to mold and other pests. there is a fan in the top, and with the vents open, the airflow keeps it fairly cool. Ranger staff were kind, and very ready to share their insights. Friendship park was closed. be careful when you take the beach hike from the road. It veers to the right to take you to friendship park. There were a couple from our group that took that path the day earlier. It was a muddy mess. and the park was abandoned. If you veer right on a gravel road instead, there is another path leading across the marsh to the beach. The Beach is stunning! The waves look amazing. and it seemed surreal that this little stretch of beach was so close to San Diego, yet so remote that it seemed untouched.

The party also appeared to include excessive underage drinking, which was concerning at a family resort. We came here expecting a fun, relaxing family vacation, not two nights of disrupted sleep. It's unfortunate because we enjoyed our first stay, but this experience definitely makes us think twice about returning.

We spent 3 nights here in August of 2026 and were delighted that we did. It's an oasis in downtown Oceanside. The staff are delightful, the resort is very will organized and well maintained. There's a locked gate to enter a very short path to Buccaneer Beach. Spaces are concrete paved and the utilities are perfectly positioned. My only comment would be that there's not much room between spaces so it's tight, but still very maneuverable. Keep in mind, this is prime real estate close to the beach, so it's expected that they need to make the best use of their acreage. Paradise is a very neat place to get away.

We do a nice stroll after dinner. It is so lovely at sunset! The other night we were there and saw the launch trail of the rocket in the sky. So pretty with the colors of the sunset and the white rocket trail. People may be a tad frightened of my big dog but I've met loads of people that see she is a love bug. You can't ask for a better backdrop than the strand to downtown and the awesome Coronado Bridge! Last week they had a lowrider gathering with some absolutely gorgeous cars and trucks and food! I loved the music and the DJ was great! Enjoyed the music from everyone's cars. Especially enjoyed the happy people. The boats and yachts are great to look at well. Good times. Come on down see ya out there and we can have a nice chit chat. Several picnic tables throughout, nice grassy area to put down a blanket and plenty of squirrels and birds to see too.

One of the oldest parks in the South Bay. Been coming here for years, there is 2 of them in between…read morethem there's a restaurant. Both parks are good for parties & hangouts & BBQ's. When I was a kid most Easter's & Birthday parties were here. One park has a pier to fish the other has a loading deck for boats. When I was a teenager I came here as well but not for family gatherings but to hang out with friends. And it's a good spot to bring girls late at night & you know....play BINGO in the back seat :) the first park has alot of parking spots for that. Now that I'm a dad & family man I come again for birthday parties & also just to hang with family to grill & see the low riders on weekends. My favorite reason to come tho is to see the Sunsets with my daughters, have a late picnic, listen to music & just watch the sun set, love it. Me & my family's favorite park in the South Bay hands down. Now with the Gaylord Resort next door the park looks better & is extended. The more I researched places to stay in San Diego, this campground kept coming up. I was skeptical since it was so close to the border but after so many failed attempts to locate a place to stay for a good price, I finally dug deeper into a harder look at this campground. Once I found out they had Yurts, it was a done deal. I called and reserved the last one. It was the closest one to the bathrooms, yay us! We arrived and fell in love with the yurt! It was the best "gl-amping" I've ever done. The location is a little out of the way, on the drive there, there are farms, horses, etc but it was nice. I told my husband that I didn't want to arrive after dark because it didn't seem well lit. The bathrooms were pretty clean. The shower was a little frustrating. The water pressure is low and I have a lot of hair so I have to sit under the shower for a while to get it all wet. It took a while to warm up, which I was grateful for warm water, but since we paid $1 per token, I wish the water would turn warm faster. It turns off every 30 seconds and you have to push the button to have it return. I guess these are first world problems because overall, we loved our stay. When checking out, you have to wait for the rangers to arrive so don't plan on leaving first thing in the morning. They arrived at 9am. They were all super friendly and helpful. We will be back!
