Pretty good. Some of our family loves this place, some things it's just A-OK. Prices seemed a little high but it was a lot of food. I didn't like their chille relleno - it had hashbrowns or something in it? Also, I had a couple of hairs in my enchiladas. We came here for lunch today and ended up with a $40 bill for two people. Not a bad price, but definetly not what we were expecting for what we ordered at 1130 on a Tuesday at this small joint. It was just after 11:30, we got our menus and ordered pretty soon after. As were looking at the lunch menu, my father orders the Tijuana Burrito ($9.99) & I order the Carne Asada ($11.99) (Reminder: Both on the lunch menu.). But we did not get the lunch menu price on our bill in the end. We get our food, it was good, just like your average restaurant, though I did not receive the tortillas that were supposed to come with my meal. Then the bill came for $37 and we were confused. We waved our waiter down because that seemed oddly high for our two plates. We asked our waitress and she tells us that she thought we wanted the dinner plates...I even said "our items are on the lunch menu though right?" To which the response was yes but you did not say the lunch one, I thought you ordered dinner. What?? She did apologize as we walked out, but it was not genuine. We started laughed walking out of the restaurant and were truly baffled on our drive back to work because we couldn't believe we were scammed like that. We even said to her, why would we order dinner right now? "Oh, I dont know. I'm sorry" Yes I'm sure that mistake has been made a few times before. It's very smart as no one wants to get mad at a seemingly kind old woman. So consumer beware if she is your server. We've never been anywhere that has done that, and wow what a good scam it is. So please be aware that apparently you must specify during the lunch hours that you want the lunch menu price. Maybe that is actually what happened, but I've never been somewhere that assumes you want the dinner menu price when the lunch one is sitting right there in front of you. Who knows! Just went in for a Lunch at 11:45 ordered off of the Lunch Menu and when presented the bill noticed it was way higher than what it should have been and when we asked the waitress she said sorry you didn't say lunch! I was very polite and said it was 11:45 in the morning and we were on the lunch menu and she just said the same thing but added so I charged you for dinner. I said, who eats dinner at 11:45 in the morning and she just said sorry We paid $47 The food was good though but the business practice was crooked and we will not be back! read more

I had heard great things about Tijuana's after complaining to some locals about the other two Mexican restaurants in town. I was told this place had the best food and was kinda a local secret. This place was amazing. The chips were warm and crisp. The salsa was thick and fresh. Their menu while the run of the mill, it was not overloaded with numerical menu items and very simple. I ordered Juevos Rancheros and the rest of the party had tamales and a beef burrito. The Juevos were nothing like I ever tasted before. You could tell the ranchero sauce was fresh, the eggs were made right then. Whole beans and rice that was not crisp was the perfect compliment. The tamales texture was perfect. The beef burrito was amazing. The food really was that good. The one downside was that the decor was really bad. Light bulbs were burnt out all over. They had advertisement for their desserts from distributors strewn about. The bathroom floor felt like it was sinking. But I will be going back! read more

Tijuana's is a local favorite. It is run by a very sweet local family, part of the group that runs several restaurants around here. They speak mostly Spanish. They have a very loyal clientele. It probably isn't autentico but the clientele does not care. A big favorite there is the No-Name, so called because it is not Mexican food so it has no name. But it is good to eat! My particular favorites there are the sopito -- love the thick little tortilla under the salad and meat; the lunch special of the day -- never know what you'll get; the sopa albondigas -- a big bowl; Cirene's special -- a little bit of everything and enough to share. My friend loves the ceviche. My kids crave the no name (guac on the side to give to me!). My DH? Cadillac Grande Margarita! They serve the mexican soda in bottles which my kids like. Their flan is also pretty good. Been eating here for ten years on a weekly basis, and we plan to continue! read more

As some others have alluded to, if you are looking for a fancy place to impress a first date, Tijuana is not for you. If you want delicious Mexican food, prepared and served by a wonderful family, then Tijuana is the place to be. As for the quality of food, Tijuana serves the best Mexican food in Monroe (there are now 7 Mexican restaurants counting the food trucks). It's like going to your Mexican grandmother's house for dinner. Yes it's a little dark, and the building is rundown (which may give the impression of being "dirty", but it's not), but the warmth of the family and the deliciousness of the food make up for it. I recommend anything with pastor, the pollo de diabla, and especially the mole. The Tijuana steak is delicious (maybe a little greasy) and of course, the margaritas are strong (order yours with Patron because you're worth it). I do not throw around 5-star reviews, so consider this rating a 4+. 5-star reviews are for mind-blowing culinary experiences. Tijuana is not mind-blowing, but it is one of my favorite hang-outs. read more

We actually drove to Monroe to eat at another restaurant that ended up being full, so after looking on Yelp, as we live in Seattle, we ended up here. I am shocked that it had any good reivews. I had the Arroz con Camarones and it was like a grease pile on my plate. Very little rice and tons of cheese and quite literally about two whole onions. The shrimp were good and well prepared though. My boyfriend had the fajitas which were also really greasy. The margaritas were fine and they served chips and salsa. A typical greasy American style Mexican meal. My husband and I ate here recently as he is staying in Monroe on business. The food was good to very good but the restaurant seems really dirty to me. The menus are sticky, smelly and you have to go wash before touching your food. This is the mexican restaurant that is recommended by the locals so my suggestion is to save your mexican craving for another time when you are not in Monroe. This time I am only rating on the food and quality of service, not the lack of a lounge which gets us away from any crying kids in the restaurant. Another dinner at Tijuana, another FANTASTIC meal. Super excellent service, they bring their wonderful food out very quickly. Husband had the 12 oz steak & prawns which came with a delicious sauce, vegetables, whole beans & rice. I once again had to have the Pollo Diabla, OMG - the flavors are amazing. Their whole beans are the BEST, very flavorful. The large plates are filled mostly with meat & veggies, small portion on the beans & rice, which I just LOVE - it was a perfect combo. The food was very good. My wife was trying it for the first time, and she was very impressed. I was disappointed by the service though. I am always saddened when servers decide that you are finished and want nothing more without asking. I had finished my food, and was not asked if I wanted more drink, or if I was interested in dessert. My daughter was only half done with her food, so I would have liked my drink refilled while waiting for her to finish. This family owned restaurant has consistently had the best Mexican food in Monroe. The taco de lengua is divine and hard to find elsewhere. The enchiladas with homemade mole sauce can't be beat. I recently hired them to cater a party for me and they could not have been more professional. We have gone here for a number of years but that has come to an end. Chips and salsa put on the table very terrible. Salsa was very watery and chips were stale. Food came and was not hot. Enchiladas were smaller but price was increased. The people were nice and service was good but not a good place to eat. I would not recommend spending your hard earned money here. One of the better Mexican food places we have been to since moving up from San Diego. They are close to authentic. Chips and salsa served for free like at most mex restaurants. If I could I would give the salsa a bit more kick. The sides are a bit small for the price, but they are good. The customer service is friendly and really works to make sure all your needs are met. The restaurant is fairly clean and atmosphere is nice as well. I've enjoyed bringing my family there a couple times now and we all leave happy. read more

If you're into fancy, opulent decor; don't go here. Tijuana is a dive. It's in an old building. However, If you're into amazing, authentic mexican food, awesome margs and great service, then you are going to want to check it out. This place is a diamond in the rough. I've been coming here for over 20 years (Umm, they're doing something right) and it's my go to for authentic mexican food. Started bringing my CA raised hubby here about 9 yrs ago, and he loves it too! Some dishes to try: Amazing pastor and chiles rellenos. Love the ensalada de camarones. Love the chimichangas, enchiladas and sopitos. Good fajitas. Honestly, I've never had something here I didn't like. Margaritas are SO good; great flavor and strong. Staff is all family and remember you, are attentive and get the job done. Your glass will never be empty. We recently moved but will be going out of our way to visit this little gem every chance we get. Nice! I always love coming here and getting a Tijuana special burrito and the salsa is quite good, personally sometimes spicier than other occasions. Only issue is sometimes service takes a little longer than expected even if it's not busy. Eat here at least once a month, the family running the place are always quite friendly. read more
