This was my second visit to Tijuana Flats my first visit was at a different location and it wasn't the best of experiences but I am so glad I gave them another try. This restaurant experience was exceptional from the time I walked through the door, the staff was very welcoming and the restaurant looked immaculate. After spending a few moments looking over the menu posted at the entrance to the counter I decided on the beef flautas and a few beef tacos, after having the food delivered to my table I quickly realized my eyes were definitely bigger than my appetite was - this was definitely a feast meant for two. Before diving in I made my way to the sauce bar, so many choices, so many choices, so many choices - I decided on hot and extremely hot even though I knew an ice cold beer wouldn't be an option knowing I still had unfinished business to do later in the afternoon (so unfortunate). I appreciated the side of chips that came with both platters but there was no way I was filling up on these when I had such a beautiful selection in front of me - I started with the flautas and they were heavenly, so fresh and hot with the perfect amount of filling and texture, the hot sauce which I can't for the life me remember their names were the perfect pairings. I decided to stop short from finishing them to leave room for the tacos which I ordered "as they come" - seasoned ground beef, cheese, tomatoes, sour cream and onion in a crispy shell all I can say is these were highly pleasing to the senses. I'm so glad I decided to give Tijuana Flats a second try, it's definitely back on the list of "A" list of options when it comes to fast and delicious taco cravings. The staff was very efficient and friendly and I got a courtesy check after my food came out just to make sure everything was to my liking and even an offer to refill my drink - this goes way beyond what fast food customers like myself are accustomed to but I liked it and very much appreciated it. So in case you need to be reminded a restaurant doesn't need to be high end to reward good service or for the employees to earn gratitude - these guys even bus the tables and sanitize between customers, like I said this isn't the typical fast food restaurant so show some appreciation. I do plan on returning but I promise I'll order less food the quality, portions and price all exceeded my expectations...

    Chicken Flautas

I don't know if it is just this location, but the food quality at Tijuana Flats has plummeted in the past 5 or more years. The chicken flautas have barely any chicken. Some pieces have none. They used to be filled with chicken and cheese. Absolutely disappointed. It used to be in my workplace lunch rotation 8-10 years ago. This is the first time in 3 years and it was very disappointing. Will not be going back.

Nice location, quick service. Went in for a quick lunch after a baseball tournament. The restaurant was pretty clean, including the restroom! That's always a plus. The food came out hot and presentation was good. Definitely enjoyed my meal- I got the Chile garlic steak and street corn bowl. It was soooo good! Definitely recommend while they're still serving it. It's only for a limited time.

Hot sauces. Jessi's Flaming Fruit was delicious. Spicy but fruity without being cloyingly sweet.

We did takeout last night. I called in our order way in advance but we still ended up waiting for some time. It was incredibly busy for a Thursday evening. I felt the food wasn't as tasty as it was when they first opened. Flautas was generic. Burrito was the same way. You choose a protein and seasoning (blackened or not). Maybe the quality has gone down? Maybe a local can tell me... The hot sauce selection are awesome. Make sure to ask for little travel cups to try the hot sauces. We always pick-up a few bottles when we are down here visiting the 'rents.

Yay! I was too excited that they opened a Tijuana Flats in Mt. Dora because quality fast food choices are limited! This was my first time ordering from this Tijuana Flats so I called in the order. The young lady on the phone was very helpful and energetic. She answered all my questions about creating your own combos. I love creating sample platters lol She said it would be ready in 15mins so I arrived 20mins later and the manager stated they didn't have my order. We looked at the number I called and I told him I verified that this was the Mt. Dora location across from the Walmart. He was very nice and apologetic! He reassured me that he would make my order quick and offered me a drink while I waited. I ordered from the NEW FLAT OUTRAGEOUS MENU. I ordered 1 Carribean Street Taco(Crispy Jerk Chicken, MoreFire! hot sauce, shaved cilantro cabbage, pineapple salsa, & cotija cheese), 1 Crispy Baja Fish Taco(Cod Fish, chipotle creama, shaved cilantro cabbage, & pineapple salsa), and 1 Lime Steak Street Taco(Grilled garlic/line steak, avocado crema, shaved cilantro cabbage, pico de gallo, Cotija cheese), Churros, and small side of queso. All of them were good but I liked the lime steak & Baja fish tacos the most. The jerk chicken taco was too spicy & I usually like spicy food. Overall I really like Tijuana Flats. This location has good food & the customer service was great! Kudos to the manager(forgot his name) for providing awesome customer service & a complimentary meal for their error & my time! I will be back!

    Ultra Chicken/Black bean Nacho

This isn't ultimate chicken/black bean in there at all! All I get is chips, cheese, few black beans, and sour cream, but NO CHICKEN! I was disappointed with my dinner, and I will not order this ever again!

Chicken Tinga Burrito This is the 4 oz and it's huge!

Husband and I have been searching out really good Mexican food since leaving Los Angeles in 2012…read more It's been a frustrating and unproductive search so far. A friend recently recommended La Chiquita, located in an area that we don't pass by often. We made a special trip just to order up their burrito. Maria greeted us and took our order. Was STUNNED to find they serve Lengua! For only $6.99, we got their massive, made-to-order beef tongue burrito with all the goodies (salsa verde, grilled jalapeño, onions, cilantro, etc). We also ordered a Lengua taco. We didn't dine in, so our food was neatly packed up for us. The burrito certainly was huge, to say the least. The tortilla was thin and warm, clearly homemade...and it was Fantastic! Definitely the best tortilla we have tasted since LA. The tongue, however, was not as tasty as we were hoping. The meat was tender but lacked flavor. The filling of rice, beans and vegetables was enjoyable. The taco though....it was outstanding! I wish we ordered a few more. At $2.49, it's a great deal! Topped with fresh onion and cilantro, a squeeze of lime and the amazing salsa verde. What a delicious taco. Can't wait to try more on our next visit to La Chiquita.

We have been to this area before on previous trips, but Tortillas was a newly opened restaurant since our last visit. We were definitely excited to give it a try! The restaurant is located in a modern development, combining housing and retail. It appears that there is a lot of development and growth to this area, and it makes sense that restaurants and other businesses are moving in. There are several other businesses and shops in the complex, and Tortillas is near the front on the left. At the time we went, it was not very crowded. We had no trouble finding a parking spot close to the entrance. The complex has private parking all around the buildings. There are several tables located outside of the restaurant, so you could dine outdoors and bring your dog. However, we sat indoors for this visit. Indoors, there are both traditional tables, booths, high tops, and bar seating. I can see this being a great place to go by yourself or with a larger group. Our group was 7 total people - four adults, and three smaller children, and we were accommodated with no issues. The people we were meeting beat us to the restaurant, so our table was ready to go upon arrival. It was not too busy at the time, so seating would have been no issue if you walked right in. The menu here is not extensive, but they do still have a variety of dishes and unique items to the restaurant. They also have a full bar, so there are many drink options to indulge in. There were appetizers, entrees, and even desserts. I also saw a sign for weekday lunch specials. Chips and salsa were complimentary, so our table enjoyed a few baskets of those before our main entrees came. We ordered the Grilled Mexican Street Corn as an appetizer also, which I really enjoyed! Anytime this is on the menu at a Mexican-type restaurant, I usually will order it. It was still on the cob, and it came with four halves. The kids at the table enjoyed an order of the Queso Blanco to accompany their chips! I personally ordered the Quesadilla Burger, as it seemed like a unique offering. It truly was sooo good! The Quesadilla "bun" was loaded with cheese and veggies, which paired so nicely with the burger. It was a great size too, and I only at half at the restaurant. It came with a side, for which I opted for the Mexican Corn. This was served off the cob, and was similar to the appetizer in taste and dress. As you might figure, I love Mexican Corn in any form, so this was great for me! The kids we were with enjoyed their entrees, so if you are looking for a good place to take kids this would be a nice spot. They also had milk for them to drink. The staff was accommodating to them as well, which is always a plus. Our service this day was wonderful! All of the food came out accurately and quickly. The waitress we had was top-notch! Her name is escaping me, but despite being pregnant she was stellar and a joy to talk to. I hope all of the staff here are as wonderful as she was to us! The prices here are fair. Some of the items I would say are a little more on the pricier side for what they are. Others, such as the Fajitas, I feel are rather cheap (comparably speaking to other places similar I have been). However, I would say the value is there. As stated, they also have lunch specials if you are looking to try it out for a few dollars less. I was extremely satisfied with my first experience trying Tortillas in Newberry! We visit the North Central Florida area at least once a year, and I would definitely dine here again on a future trip. I would recommend giving this spot a try if you are in the area, or have been thinking about stopping.

The tacos had the perfect crunch and were generously stuffed, which I really appreciated. For appetizers, I got the guacamole with extra serrano peppers. If you like spice I definitely recommend asking for the extra serranos because it really hits the spot. I also tried the Boom Boom sauce, and it's easy to see why it's so popular -- super flavorful with a nice kick. The chips and salsa along with the creamy jalapeño sauce were a great way to start the meal too. The chips had a great crunch, fresh and not greasy at all!!! Shoutout to our waitress Alejandra -- she was incredibly sweet, patient, and made the whole experience even better. Overall, great food, great service, and colorful environment. The cheese relleno was delicious! Nice crispy coating with plenty of cheese filling in the pepper. Enchilada was also good, but needed some additional sauce as the chicken was a bit dry. We had to ask several times for water refills, additional sauces, and napkins before they were brought. Overall the food was great, but the service could be improved. Would like to try again sometime soon.
