    North Indian Style Meatballs Dinner
    Julie V.

I came here for a catch up dinner with some friends and I gotta say - love that parking was not a pain. You can definitely find some free street parking in the neighborhoods nearby which is great. As for the restaurant itself, [[HIGHLIGHT]]love the aesthetics. It was clean, well decorated, and the staff were so kind and polite.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] I got the North Indian Style Meatballs Dinner and it was divine. I don't use that word often because it sounds so extra, but for real though. This dish was so comforting that I thought about saving some for later. In case I wake up from a bad dream in the middle of the night and wanted something to make me feel instantly better. However, it was too good and I ate it all in one sitting. Next time I'm getting two orders - one for here and another to go.

[[HIGHLIGHT]]We came here for a company event and also our first time here ever. But what a pleasant experience in this cozy restaurant bar in downtown Berk[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]eley! I tried the seafood curry, the naan bread plate and the secret cocktail! They all hit the spot. The chicken masala was so flavorful and delicious. The portion was good and i was full with one serving. The bartender and service were amaz[[HIGHLIGHT]]ing. It's not a huge place but it gave the character as a cozy place to relax and have a good [[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]meal! Will definitely return again!

[[HIGHLIGHT]]Plenty of indoor seating and also outdoor seating[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]

    Tandoori Mint Lamb Chops

[[HIGHLIGHT]]Has a wonderful dinner at this lovely restaurant replete with great food, ambiance and very attentive service.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] We had such a nice experience we came back for another dinner the next week and it did not disappoint! All the dishes were delicious and had ample portions. My favorite was the tandoori mint lamb chops accompanied by baba ganoush and broccoli & fingerling potatoes. The lamb was both tender and succulent and the portion quite generous. I also really loved their braised kale, and fresh naan. My brother's favorite was the North Indian style meatballs which was a combination of pork and lamb, coconut milk & tomato curry, kale and stewed chick peas and house made paneer cheese. I wasn't sure how that would taste but we both found it delicious. We will be back to try more of their dishes including classics as well their many unique ones.

10/10!!!!! This place was outstanding! I can honestly say the best food I've ever had in Berkeley. The curried deviled eggs were to die for as were the huge samosas. Will absolutely be coming back next time I'm in town! The service was fast and food came out quickly.

Food- 5/5 Service- 5/5 [[HIGHLIGHT]]Ambiance -5/5 with romantic vibes[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Drinks are also 5/5 - super high quality cocktails! Recommend ANY of their naans, can't go wrong! Also the brunch menu is different and incredible too!

Food ranged from good to excellent, but the cocktails were the real star of the show. The drinks menu was extensive, and we enjoyed each one we tried (their namesake, the Tigerlily, was a standout). The fresh fruit is a decadent touch to the very flirty, very sweet cocktails. The fried chicken was exceptional, with an interesting take on mashed potatoes underneath -- very hearty and filling. The coconut curry chicken was also excellent, though the naan was unusually thick and dry. We also had the beet salad, which was delicious except for the avocados -- they were so unripe that I couldn't cut them with my fork and knife. Not exactly sure how they ended up on a plate and served, but the service was somewhat spotty so we couldn't send them back before our entrees arrived -- not the end of the world, since the beets and paneer were still good. Overall, the food was good enough to warrant a return visit sometime, and the vibe was sophisticated (if not a bit sports-bar-y in the front). Great for a date night or a special catch-up with friends.

Ok, this place is amazing!! If you like tikka masala, please come get the fried chicken masala! Absolutely amazing! The nann was to die for!

The sweetest couple, Atul & Alka treated us like family the day we wandered into Tigerlily. Alka went above and beyond to create the perfect espressos martinis for us and even ordered the Mr. Black liqueur that we liked knowing we were coming back in the following day. Atul, the husband was so friendly and warm towards us and we could tell their staff was treated well too. Lorenzo, the bartender was just as fun and friendly as the owners. Now onto the food...Wow!! My boyfriend and I fell in love with the couple of items we ordered. The meatballs and the chicken tikka masala were both absolutely delicious!! The previous day, we tried the veggie samosas and I don't think I've ever tasted anything so incredible before. Sadly, we had prior dinner plans down the street otherwise we would have stayed for a full meal. We tried the Hibiscus Me and the East of Infinity cocktails and both were amazing! We live in Napa but are excited to make the drive back to explore the entire menu and share more conversation with the amazing owners and staff. Thank you Atul & Alka!!

Veggie korma, served with rice and garlic naan ($21.50). happy hour version also available.

Are the tv's on every night through dinner?

    Yes

    Do they have high chairs?

Some of the tables against the wall and at the bar do, but they have normal tables towards the back and outside!

Does this place do weekday brunch?

There was never a week day brunch. The weekend brunch has not resumed yet.

Does Tigerlily do bottomless mimosa brunches? If so, how much does it cost?

They do! I believe they're $14 (just for the mimosas).

    Are you dog friendly?

Morning, yes! As long as our patio is open, we serve our guests on a first come first serve basis for the patio and dogs are welcome on leash.

If you didn't know, know ya…read moreknow...located essentially across the way from CAL in Berkeley, East Bay Spice to me is a hidden gem filled with such nostalgic memories shared with friends over the years. They closed for a time, and now seem to be thriving again! Heading to the Greek for a weekend show, we wanted to pop in somewhere close-by. We cozied up to bar seating, and enjoy a couple of martinis featuring local gin and vodka, and ordered some food to share: the Original Tikka Masala Flatbread (we had to finally try it!), and the Sev Puri Chaat (first time trying this ever!). Service was amazing, and if I could write this review purely on the originality and creativity of the menus, I would (see pics!) The menus were CD cases (remember those, ha) with a fun take on 'Spice Girls', titled 'East Bay Spice Company'. For Spice Girls fans, you will recognize what album this was derived from. Each page of the cd book was a different part of the menu, including drinks, happy hour (from 2-6pm), and food. So fun, and unlike anything I've ever seen before. The food was so fresh and delicious. Loved the pomegranate seeds and lightness from the Sev Puri Chaat, bite size garbanzo bean/potato goodness! And standing O for that flatbread..pro-tip: get a side of the Tikka Masala sauce to pour on top. Absolutely amazing. I'm a huge fan of Tikka Masala, and having that sauce be a base for a pizza...come on!! We did chicken as the protein. Overall, so happy to return and have East Bay Spice back apart of the Berkeley rotation again. Small, dimly-lit, cool digs. The presentation was impeccable, and the sauce was rich, creamy, and full of flavor. The chicken seemed like a leaner cut, possibly breast, but it was still tender and not overcooked. I thoroughly enjoyed this plate and would 100% come back to order it again. My husband ordered the flatbread, though I can't remember the exact name, and it was surprisingly delicious as well. It tasted almost like a pizza version of the chicken tikka masala, making it a great shareable option if you're looking to snack, chat, and enjoy cocktails. Speaking of cocktails, the bartenders seemed very knowledgeable and helped me choose a drink based on my preferred spirit and cocktail style. I ended up with the Skeleton Key, which was strong, but still paired well with the meal. I'd happily come back to try more cocktails and, of course, order that chicken tikka masala again.

If you want a chatty, friendly bartender, go to an Irish pub. This place is all about creating unique concoctions in volume. Having said that, I'll tell you a story. In March 2019, I was with a chatty bartender here, since it was a quiet night. I was looking at the vast array of bottles, and noticed something that said "Buffalo Trace" but looked different from their usual bottle. I asked her what it was, and she didn't know. It had about three fingers left at the bottom, so she looked at me mischievously and said, "wanna finish it with me?" So we did. Turns out, that 375 ml bottle was worth about $300. It was one of their experimental batches, made with oats in 2002. I found a bottle online in England and got it shipped here. Best whiskey I've ever had.
