    August 2023 counter inside HMart

Unimpressed and disappointed. I know Tiger Sugar gets lots of hype and I cannot understand why. I went here for the first time today and my drink was mediocre. I can think of at least 2 nearby places that have better quality coffee. Also, I was disappointed that Tiger Sugar isn't the cute store that is pictured on Yelp. They're just a tiny walk-up counter in Hmart and the only seating available is in the food court. The staff was not that helpful in explaining things to me for my first (and last) time here. They also called out my drink by order number even though I was the only customer. I thought that was weird. Lastly, I didn't even feel a caffeine boost. I had to make a cup of coffee when I got back to work.

Cute Hello Kitty cup....but I prefer the clear cups.

When I found out that there was a Tiger Sugar in Edison, I was excited. I recently attended a Yelp Elite Experience at H-Mart, and I knew that a visit to Tiger Sugar was going to be a must. From my experience, Tiger Sugar has the best brown sugar boba tea. Tiger Sugar is a small stand within H-Mart rather than an individual store. They have a kiosk where you can place your order and get a receipt. When your order is ready, they call your number. I ended up ordering the original brown sugar boba tea in a large. They seem to have some collaboration going on with Hello Kitty right now, which is cute and all, but I really wasn't a fan of the cups. One of the "exciting" aspects of bubble tea, especially brown sugar boba, is being able to see it through a clear cup. Nevertheless, I got my drink, gave it a shake, and popped my straw in. The first couple sips were okay, but then I began to feel like I was drinking more milk than tea. It didn't really have the flavor I was used to. What a bummer! I'll give it another shot one day, but so far, I'm a little disappointed.

My friend wanted some bubble tea, so we decided to come to this location as we were headed to HMart anyways. Cleanliness: The inside of this bubble tea shop has various decorations with the stuff tiger animals. The tables and floors were clean and was very quiet. The position of the garbage cans is in an awkward position in between the two long tables and chairs/benches. The bathroom is disgusting, and it looks as if they have not cleaned it in weeks. The garbage can in the bathroom is overfilled with paper towels. There is also no soap or paper towels, and the hand dryer is weak. The staff: They seemed as if they were busy with drinks, and we were not greeted upon entry. We did not feel like there was a welcoming feeling at this location as if we were just another customer. Brown sugar matcha: It has the brown sugar drizzled around the cup but there is no brown sugar taste in the drink. The drink had a little matcha taste and they filled the cup full of ice. This drink tasted like water except with a bad taste to it. Mango Sago: The drink barely had any mango taste to it and all you can suck up is some kind of fruit inside. The milk foam tasted weird, and this drink basically left an awful after taste. Overall: I think this would be our one-time experience and we would not come back in the future.

For once, I splurged on some tiger sugar boba. I got #8 Brown Sugar Taro and was pleased with it. The taro is freshly made and has like a thick pudding texture. It's not too sweet and it is difficult to drink through the straw. The boba was very sweet and made from brown sugar, so it really balanced the taro out. This was my first time getting this $7 drink and I was not disappointed. I specified for the creame mousse and oat milk to be added but I don't think they did because it did not taste richer. It also was not reflected in the receipt. There's plenty of parking and I've never seen a line for this boba shop.

Hey hey Adventurers! I got to experience this place due to a Yelp Event and I'm so glad I did. I've had boba before but it was flavor burst boba that were tiny. I think I'm a convert to this style :) I ordered the number four bc it had some espresso, which I found out after the boba had it! AMAZING! I chose the less sweater option bc I just don't like sweet things. This was a perfect balance though. My friend ordered the signature drink --#1. The staff was absolutely attentive and wonderful. Explained all the items and answered all of our questions. The lot is a decent size but it's shared within a plaza so I imagine it's hard to find parking. It's also off 27 south bound so during rush out it might be hard to get to. Don't let deter you though this place is a def spot to try. I'd stopped by here after having ramen and it was the perfect dessert! Highly recommend :)

When I heard a new boba place opened in the area, I just had to try it! I got my usual green tea boba drink (can never go wrong with this) and loved it! It was just the right amount of sweet and the boba were chewy. The interior was very well-decorated with a decent amount of seating (3-4 tables). They also had a bunch of stuffed tigers which was cute. I can't wait to come back and try their special fruit drinks!

I had been to the standalone Tiger Sugar in Edison but didn't know there was a second location in the H-Mart. If you enter and immediately take a right you'll see a small storefront. The employees are really nice and happy to help! I got the brown sugar tea with the different sized bobas as well as a coffee flavored drink. Both were delicious! I think this location may be less known so the wait wasn't bad at all! And you could always walk around the H-Mart and do some shopping while you wait for your order to be ready :)

Grand Opening: 11 AM, 28 May 2022 TLDR: service is expedient, but this store is currently offering a very limited menu. Tiger Sugar drinks follow a fixed recipe and cannot be altered in terms of sugar content, ice levels, or even cup size. If you like your milk teas explosively sweet, then Tiger Sugar is for you. If not, you can safely skip the FOMO here. This location has no loyalty program, online ordering, or any ancillary features commonly found in a modern-day handmade drink vendor. Grand Opening Experience: As expected, a throng of eager early adopters (mostly hip young Asians) were lined up outside way before 11 am today in the sweltering heat in hopes of scoring one of 100 free Tiger Sugar drink totes made of cotton. The line wrapped around the side of the building, which used to be a Farmer's Insurance office in the Bell Pharmacy strip mall. The parking lot in front is small, but there are so many other places to park nearby that it's hardly an issue. My total wait time was close to 45 minutes, which was reasonable given that I arrived at 10:50 AM and there was already a line. The five employees behind the counter did a great job of keeping the line moving and cranking out orders quickly. The contactless card reader at the counter did a great job of reading cards contactlessly, though the customer-facing tablet at the cash register appeared to be running a diagnostic of some sort. The choice between plastic and paper boba straws was a nice gesture, though the paper straws get very soggy very easily and take a while to dry. The indoor masking situation was a crapshoot among customers, but all the staff were fully masked. People waited off to the side after placing their orders and were generally courteous enough not to linger indoors and take up space after receiving their drinks. The indoor space is like a waiting lobby with no seats and only a few tables, able to comfortably accommodate about 15-20 standing people at a time. The first 100 customers to place orders received a woven drink tote when picking up their order at the counter. Taste/Texture Evaluation: The biggest criticism I have is that there are no sugar level adjustments for the milk tea drinks. As a result, I walked away with a full 100% sugar #2 boba+pearl+jelly drink that tasted like a liquid candy bar. The brown sugar flavor is present in the milk, but any tea flavor is buried beneath layers and layers of cloying sweetness. I also drank a #1 and my impressions were similar. The boba and the pearls are both chewy, but neither has any distinguishable brown-sugar flavor that cooking in brown sugar is supposed to impart. This means that the signature drinks are merely just milk teas with tapioca and Instagrammable brown streaks and nothing more. If you've frequented this type of drink store in Taiwan over the past decade, you'll notice that almost all of them have the option to customize sugar and ice levels. By now, this has become an industry standard and one that customers expect. This is doubly true for customers on special diets or watching their glycemic intake. (Edit: Yelper Pamela L. has informed me that per store employee, limited customization is possible on the tea drinks on the "left menu". After reading reviews for various locations, this seems to be the policy not only nationwide but also worldwide.) First Impressions: As far as I can tell, all the drinks are the same size (18 oz cup) and same price: $6.10 + $0.40 tax. The menu today didn't even include the full regular menu (#7 and some of the tea drinks were blocked out), let alone any of the seasonal drinks like the Mango Sago. This location currently also has no loyalty program, no online ordering, and no compatibility with food delivery platforms. I don't expect any of these things during a soft opening, but their absence do make a grand opening considerably...less grand. This overhyped opening really felt more like an extended soft opening than a true grand opening. With such a limited set of offerings and few customization options (can't even pick a cup size), I can't in earnest recommend this particular Tiger location over any of the other established milk tea drink brands in this part of Edison, which is already saturated with competitors who have been customizing their drinks for years. Premium ingredients are nice, but if I'm only allowed to taste 100% sugar then what's the point? The Tiger Sugar craze in Taiwan has already long ended for some of the same reasons, and that's bound to happen here eventually as well. Americans in general are known for having a unhealthy fondness for for sugar, but the main appeal of milk tea has never been sugar. We already have fructose-laden sodas and Venti frappuccinos for that. Tiger Sugar will need more than influencer hype, organic milk, and brown sugar tiger stripes to win me over.

I was so excited to see Tiger Sugar in H Mart, so convenient to be able to pick up groceries and bubble tea. I remember when Tiger Sugar first opened in Flushing and the line can be an hour or so wait. It's nice to not have those long lines here. However, service is a tad slow here despite the lack of lines. I personally don't mind the wait since the drinks are so delicious here. The classic is always good, and I absolutely love the new hello kitty drink (the cups are super adorable as well).

We got our own Tiger at Edison!! They have a nice selection of the milk series and I picked the Signature (#1) - Brown Sugar Boba + Pearl + Milk with cream mousse hot. The people at the desk are very kind and right at their job. She offered the drinks that were being offered for the day and made it customized based on our sugar needs. The place looks cute with all the tiger dolls decorating their walls and reception area. With time I'm sure there will be more people buzzing this place than the tiger dolls that are present. The parking space is decent and can't be a challenge. Now to the drink, it was absolutely delicious and well made with their signature bobas. Now that this is in our neighborhood, we'll be coming here more often.

I tried the #4 which is the original brown sugar, bobba tea with a shot of expresso. It was so good! Not overly sweet and the mini pearls are now my favorite. The service was great! They were so friendly and helpful, explaining all the drinks available without being too much.

Quite small for the price compared to other Boba places. Excited to hear that this place opened up in NJ as I've been hearing so much about it on social media. This location is quite small and can get pretty cramped real fast. I ended up waiting outside for my order. The menu is quite limited to a variety of brown sugar concoctions. I ordered the brown sugar with pudding and cheese foam. The pudding is a much thicker consistency than I'm used to and not as smooth. I can't say that it left me wanting to go back for more. The only plus was that you could customize the sugar content. Service was quite slow for a Friday night. With only 2 people making drinks, it was a good 15-20 minute wait. Parking is also an issue with very limited spots right off route 27.

I've been to a few locations in NY a handful of times so I was super excited to visit this location and try it out. The interior is well decorated and has a good amount of seating. I ordered the #1 signature brown sugar boba+pearl+milk w/ cream mousse and absolutely loved it. I will definitely come back when I get the chance and would recommend checking it out.

They refuse to have any interpersonal interaction with customers. They inform the customers to use the kiosk machine instead. Cleanliness: The store is clean with no garbage or debris left on tables, chairs, floors, or near the garbage can area. Pricing: The drinks and snacks here are decent prices from $5.00 and up. Ube Coconut Vietnamese Coffee: This drink was a little different and it just did not taste great. My friend stated that he was glad he added sugar, but he felt like this drink could have been better as it was not to his liking. Mango Matcha: I have mixed feelings about this drink as it tasted a little weird. One sip it tastes a little sweet and another sip it tastes a little bitter. I think I should have stuck with some mango drink instead. Chocolate Egg Pancake: Last time we got this item it did not have any chocolate filling inside of it. It was just a regular egg pancake but chocolate looking. They perfected this with the chocolate filling inside and it definitely tastes better now. Overall: I do not think I would come out of my way just to come here to get bubble tea. If I am in this area again next time, then I may give it another try with a different drink. They should also start to communicate with their customers because some customers love to interact with people.

The menu is limited and they offer mainly Hong Kong style snacks and rice/spaghetti dishes. It is a self-serve, no tip restaurant so you'll need to either order their their kiosk machines, or there's QR codes available on the table for you to order from your phone. We ordered their slippery egg chicken rice combo with Hong Kong style milk tea with aged tangerines, a slippery egg rice with pork chop, and also baked pork chop rice with curry sauce and cheese. The slippery egg rice was on point. The eggs were silky, moist and velvety , almost custard like in texture. It was also rich and savory. I like how the chicken was lightly fried without having too much breading. They used chicken thighs so it was moist, tender and well seasoned. The fried pork chop, which was similar to pork katsu, was perfectly fried with a crispy, well seasoned crust which adhered well to the meat. The meat was juicy and succulent. The curry had a mild kick which I liked and there were also little pieces of carrots and potatoes in it. The only thing was I felt there was a little too much sauce as I felt the rice was drenched in it, which made it a little too rich for my liking. The lemon tea with aged tangerines was my favorite. The lemon tea tasted authentic. One of the best I've had including the ones I've tried in the Hong Kong style cafes in nyc. The tea flavor is intense which I can tell it's not just from a tea bag. The tea was balanced well with aged tangerines which added more citrusy and a subtle earthy flavor. The drink is bold yet refreshing. I was told they have a slushy version so I would go back to try it next time. It is self serve as I mentioned before as you will have to go get your own cutlery, plates and napkins at the table by the register. The food came out shortly after I placed my order and the staff were all very friendly. This is a good options for a quick lunch/dinner and price is very reasonable as you can get a dish plus a drink for $20 and under and you don't have to tip. I would return again for sure.
