    I moved in and couldn't be told when and if the rent would go up when I had inquired…read more Before my third payment, they went up $100. This is from only being $150 monthly to begin with. (They're hoping you've moved stuff and now you're out of state and can't do anything about but pay the higher rates.) So then I go on line and rent a larger unit since they do not allow you to get any "deals" for the same size units. So, I get on line and sign for a 6-month deal for less monthly than the smaller unit I was renting. SO, then I go in and check out my new unit, roll up the door and LO and behold Is some massive plumbing inside, blocking 3-4 feet of the entrance and takes up some of my real estate that I am paying for. Oh well, I accept it and move my stuff in. A few days later, I spoke to the person in charge at the time and stated I wasn't happy about that (losing space for their plumbing). When you rent a 10 by 10 storage, you expect to get use of all 10 feet by 10 feet, right? (Nothing was mentioned about signing any paperwork and giving them a key at this time) I didn't need all the space so it wasn't worth the headache. So days later, I get a phone call saying I need to give them a key for access and I have to sign a contract to allow them access for plumbing inspections if needed. Not happy but I say OK. I dig up a key and go to my computer to see the contract. What the He77??? The contract has nothing to do with access to my unit and why but is a contract for accepting packages on my behalf and they will not be held responsible for anything in my storage unit, period! I call them back and say I am not signing that. They want me to give them with access to my unit and take no responsibility? Why didn't they warn me before I moved in to that unit and offer some discount for the access and loss of space? Give options beforehand to prevent upsetting their customers? Since I won't sign, she replies and says, you'll probably have to move your stuff to another unit. I say that's fine. Because they thought who wants to move all their stuff AGAIN? WRONG! I feel so bad for the people who have to work there and get treated by "justifiably upset customers." Be honest, be fair and get treated back with the same.

    I've been with American River Self Storage for nearly a decade.This month marks 10 years -- and…read morethat alone should say something. I've never had an issue with my units, the grounds, or the overall safety of the facility. I genuinely enjoy being here. Over the years, I've referred many people, and at least four of my immediate family members currently rent units here as well. Office management is amazing Scott and Lawrence deserve real recognition. Scott is the on-site backbone of this facility -- the one you see constantly staying on top of the grounds, making sure everything is clean, maintained, and running smoothly day in and day out. His customer service is phenomena; he's dependable, consistent, patient, respectful, and always willing to assist. Lawrence is also phenomenal to work with -- professional, helpful, and always clear when handling anything that involves paperwork or questions. Together, Scott and Lawrence make the office run the way it should, and they're a major part of why I've stayed loyal all these years. When I need something done, they make the process simple and straightforward, every time. To be transparent, I do avoid dealing with one staff member: Ian. My interactions with him have been consistently difficult. His tone comes across condescending, like you know less than you do and he tends to complicate simple requests instead of clarifying them. A recent experience -- I was moving things between my two units and using the electrical outlet on the wall. I'd been plugged in for about two and a half hours with no problem, and then 45 minutes before closing Ian suddenly came out to tell me I wasn't allowed to use it. So it took 150 minutes for you to realize and address the issue. A few days later, I called to ask if they stil had any larger unit I oreviously discussed with Scott available so I could consolidate, and in the middle of the conversation he repeats, "And just to remind you, you also can't use the electrical outlets." At that point, it felt unnecessary. I heard you the first time I'm an adult, I understood it, and repeating it came off exactly the way my experiences with him usually feel. Aside from that, this facility has been nothing but dependable -- clean grounds, secure units, and reliable management. I've been here almost ten years, I currently have two units, and I don't plan on going anywhere else. If you're looking for a storage facility you can actually trust long-term, with staff who genuinely take care of their tenants, ask for Lawrence or Scott. They're the reason so many of us stay loyal to American River Self Storage.

    I had to down size from two units to one and on top of that I was late on both I went down to…read moresquare up this deal I had gotten both units on a promotion so what I thought was going to be a huge hassle Scott made this deal a breeze thank you much greatly appreciated.
