I did my research, and thought that Jessica's pricing was very reasonable, and that her work resembled what I was looking for. With less than a week heads up, she was able to coordinate a time for my hair and makeup, and was so accommodating! I was very happy with the results after she was complete, but the real test came for the actual engagement shoot where we were on the beach getting splashed with ocean water, and battling wind. I have VERY fine blonde hair, and every piece stayed in place (and it was down in loose curls!), and my makeup look like it had just been put on despite hours in humid/wet conditions --- I was floored! Obviously with such a great experience, I booked her and her team for our wedding date once we settled on a venue. The results on our wedding day were nothing short of what I expected. She guided me through the process of how to do multiple (1 bride, 5 bridesmaids, 2 moms, and a groom's service) people's hair/makeup within tight timeframe, and even was able to take on an extra person for hair, and a groomsmen for a touchup last minute! My five bridesmaids are seasoned bridesmaids, in weddings spanning from Napa, to Palm Springs, to Italy and beyond and they all unanimously agreed that was HANDS DOWN the best hair/makeup experience they have ever had. The airbrush make up worked in humid Maui conditions all day, and with a variety of hair lengths/texture everyone was pleased with the results. It speaks to her expertise that she could put on my eyelashes all while the hotel staff climbed ladders to fix the A/C, room service fluffed the pillows and bedding, dropped off a celebratory bottle and chocolates. She kept telling me we would later laugh about it and she's right. Aside from some general requests on how I wanted my hair and makeup to look, I trusted her to do her thing and she delivered. I went with wavy curls because I wore a flower crown. I'm always skeptical of curling my hair because it never holds but it held up beautifully even in the Maui heat. The airbrush makeup is amazing. The salon is in a gray cottage (has been painted since the photo on Yelp), with a lot of parking spots nearby. It's a nice salon with beautiful views.. and horses right outside! Serena made me feel really comfortable. She was easygoing but definitely professional and knowledgeable. The shampoo/conditioner felt wonderful. Getting back to her chair our convo led to her background, and from what I gathered, her education was from a Paul Mitchell school on Oahu. I respect the Paul Mitchell standards and continuing education program, and I felt it reflected on my experience with Serena. The products she uses are varied actually. Definitely not just P.M, but they are all of high quality, and I love that. She uses what she has found works, regardless of brand (from what I can tell). Also, she asked a lot of questions but it was natural and at the right time, mixing in with the rest of the fun, light convo we had. I got 6 inches cut from my length with layering and face framing and a blowout at the end. The owner came into the salon in the middle of my visit and let Serena know that I had left a message (he didn't actually know that I was the person that had left the VM), and said hello to me. It was a really chill, relaxing environment. Being in a cottage, I didn't know what to expect, but it's a nice clean salon inside. I haven't felt this good in a while. The result was beautiful. I'm a happy camper. I'm excited to go back again. I was in good hands. Highly recommend. Serena has a lot of experience in a lot of areas (from what I asked her) and I would feel comfortable recommending her to any of my friends and family. I'm going to include some photos. I was thrilled with my hair it looked so healthy and a perfect cut! Price was very reasonable.
