Same day men's haircut and it was in such a cute building, hair stylist was fun and relaxed. We ended up learning it was located by the South Maui Garden oasis, so we spent a few hours there after my husband's top notch haircut! read more

This was my 2nd visit to Aloha Hair Studio. Happy I discovered this place. Lia is amazing and I love my haircut, 2nd time even more! Fairly easy to get an appointment, wonderful stylist, reasonably priced and in a beautiful location right in South Maui Garden. Parking easy as well. Thank you Lia! read more

Lia was fantastic! She's very friendly and gave me the perfect haircut! Definitely going back!

Come to Maui a lot as my folks live there. Wanted a haircut on short notice and saw the good reviews for this place and Lia in particular. Fantastic haircut from Lia -- and for just being the sweetest person! Very reasonably priced on an island not known for reasonable prices. Was so happy with the cut, talked my teenage daughter into getting her much delayed cut the next day; she was thrilled with hers too! read more

The new location is in south Maui Gardens and such a great location. I was able to drop my husband off and walk the grounds. Very affordable prices and I haven't had a complaint. I am pretty simple when it comes to my hair. Just a wash and a cut, so I can't review on coloring, but they do that too. Good place for men and women and now in the new location, it just adds a little something. read more

Shoutout to Lia for the awesome hair cut and for just being the sweetest person! Needed a cut and this shop was close by! They were able to squeeze me in which was great! Cute and reasonably priced. read more

I was referred to Wendee by a friend. I was not disappointed. Since my son's 7th birthday was a special occasion, I booked Wendee in advance to cut his hair that he's had since birth. She was very professional, kind, fun and welcoming to my son. He was comfortable, delighted and pleasantly surprised with his new look. I'm so happy we found a hairstylist for my big little boy. read more

Spacious studio that has stations for about 3-5 stylists. Our stylist was so nice and thorough with my teenage son's haircut. He's super particular and he looked great in time for our photos. We were seen on time and got out on time (yay!). Price was very reasonable. They carry a small assortment of hair products - which was convenient since we were traveling from out of town. read more

Located in a cute plaza next to Man cave. There are a few places to park. Also provide a parking lot available. A few of the other shops aren't open because of corona. However this hair studio is and I needed a cut really badly. The studio is set up for one client at a time and to wear face mask, of course! I called first to see if Wendee was available and she only had two spots. Showed her exactly what I wanted and Wendee delivered. She is amazing! And could tell I have sensitive scalp so she was gentle. We were in And out about 15-20 minutes. Will be back for sure read more

I highly recommend Liz. She patiently listened to what I wanted, took her time, and gave me exactly what I wanted.

I highly recommend! I have been coming here for over 6 years and the service is top notch. Leah has cut my hair and styled it for many years. However, all the stylists are wonderful. Leah is professional, fun to talk to, and she always knows exactly what my hair needs. It feels like a treat every time I get to come in for a service! read more

Love my hair stylist just not a fan at all of the owner Wendee. My son had a hair cut and I wanted mostly the front trimmed because he was crying off and on during the appointment, and it bothers his eye sight. She must not have kids of her own because her reaction was extremely rude and insulting. 'Maybe not do the sideburns because I cant have him crying the whole time'. Poor choice of words especially as the owner. The other stylists were more thoughtful and understanding. I do not force my son to get a hair cut because I am not able to cut it myself, so I come when its absolutely needed. Please do not say you offer kids hair cuts if you cant handle the off and on crying. Also, as a local and Hawaiian you do not understand the meaning of 'Aloha' so take it out of your business name. read more

Dropped in for a haircut while vacation - did a great job - highly recommend. Friendly service! Thanks!

HATED my visit today. I wish I was on the island longer to have it fixed. So sad I made the decision to do this today. Cried on he last day of my honeymoon. Below is what I asked for and what I got. *update 8/12/16: No. This is not accurate information Jodie. I appreciate your response, however I wish you would contact me directly. I provided you my contact info in a private message earlier this week. Please feel free to reach me direct. I will be happy to show you the hair color I walked in with. I come from a background of working in the beauty industry for over 7 years, and let me just say have had my FAIR share of mishaps throughout the years...The minute I called and spoke with Jodie and Whitney, I knew I was in excellent, experienced hands. Whitney brought my hair back from the dead (literally) from having had a botched color and experience at another salon, and gave me exactly what I was looking for. Whitney, Jodie, and all of the other amazing women staffed at this salon are all a blast, so genuine, so educated and knowledgeable, and actually care about your hair and having you as a client. I would HIGHLY recommend this salon to everyone and anyone. I have found my new stylist and salon on Maui, and I could not be happier!! read more

I went to a different salon in Kihei for an ombré/balayage and left the salon with a complete mess on my head. 3 days later, Carlos at J Meier Salon worked his crazy magic and gave me the hairstyle I wanted! He is THE person to see for any color you want done! J Meier salon is the only place I'll be going to from now on. Thank you Carlos! read more

My usual hair cutter didn't reply to a few messages so had to book elsewhere so this place got some good reviews. I called in the AM and they had an opening end of day. I went in, got a good hair-cut and paid. The fee was like everywhere. Parking was easy. So have to give them props. Lia cut my hair. All good. If my usual person doesn't reply next time then I will go back. I get a basic haircut so if you get more of a style then don't read my review. Aloha read more

Jodie gave me my first short cut in 3 decades (I've kept my hair at least pony-tail length for that long). I'd just decided it was time to change up my look and so on a friend's recommendation I booked an appointment. I brought photos of what I was thinking of, but told her to do as she thought best. She went shorter than I was thinking, but it was a killer cut and everybody was enthusiastic about it, especially my women friends. Even my mom was stoked. Now, 3 months later, I just booked my second appointment for a follow-up cut. Keeping the hair short. It's my new look. Thanks Jodie! read more

I have spent most my life trying to find a hairdresser that will not only listen to my outrageous ideas but firmly, gently & professionally guide me back to what is realistic in my hair goals. When I walked into J Meier years ago I had no idea I would not only find my hair "person" but a pure & honest friend. Carlos, has not only calmed my hair fears but he continually allows me to sit in his chair & show him my new "Pinterest" glam all the while executing something bigger than I envisioned every time. Mau'i is full of amazing hairdressers & over the course of my lifetime here, I have been to many but it has been with Carlos that I have found that he has exceeded my expectations every single time. Everyone in this salon is kind, respectful & the best representation of what aloha truly means, to us. Mahalo Nui Loa, for being a local business, I can always expect the very best from read more

I have never ventured to a hair stylist beyond my own hairdresser, as I have very thin hair with no body and thats gotten exceedingly dry as I've gotten older, however, I'm very glad I did. Prior to coming to Maui for a 24-day vacation I wasn't able to get in to my hairdresser in my hometown due to my hectic work schedule. I yelped numerous salons in Kihei and went with the J. Meier Salon with Whitney Leigh Saffell. My first visit I had her trim my hair and loved it. I set up a second appointment for a highlight and was beyond happy. Whitney listens to what you want and ensures you're happy with the end result. She used some Moroccon Oil products on my hair that calmed down my horribly frizzy hair. She's the only hairdresser who has used and recommended products that actually work. I can't wait till we move here where she will be my regular hairdresser and thankfully that day isn't far off! read more

In Chicago I have had an outstanding hairstylist and in Kihei, Maui a less than satisfactory stylist. Today my regular hairstylist in Kihei was off for the week.By sheer chance I found the best hairstylist I have ever had in Chicago or Maui. Her name is Wendee, and she is with the J Meier salon in Kihei. I wear a hairpiece and blending it with my regular hair is not an easy job. Wendee did a fantastic job of blending. Can't believe my good fortune! read more

I haven't had my hair done in about a year, with the previous style being a wild asymmetrical cut. I gave Wendee a few descriptions and she went right to work. It was a good cut, but when I got home, it just didn't sit right. I went back with a few more descriptions and she perfected it. She even styled it a bit to show me how it would lay. Mahalo, Wendee! read more

My hair cut was with Wendy. She was absolutely perfect. I told her my needs.... trim, long layers. She suggested angled in the front and made sure I was comfortable with the length being taken off. She took the perfect amount of time to cut my hair. She was professional and polite. Today my hair is soft, the cut is fantastic and smells so good like coconut! I adore Wendy and always feel I can trust her my with my hair. read more

First let me start off by saying - this is LONG overdue! Jodie (the owner) and her staff at J Meier is nothing short of fantastic. I called in one day and actually found their original profile for Yelp and was quite impressed by the display of support for her new business. I really only wanted to get my daughter's hair cut as she was in dire need considering her bangs where really more like layers at this point. I ended up loving the repoire of the gals I spoke with and booked an appointment for myself too. (which was kinda nerve racking considering I haven't let somebody else touch my hair in 3 years). Have you ever walked into a salon, told them exactly what you wanted for yourself and your keiki - only to walk away feeling like - OMG they listened to exactly what I wanted and it's exactly what we wanted to look like. Yup - that kind of feeling. I hate the anxiety of the uncertainty - but these gals don't BS - they give you excellent service - no fuss attentiveness and even a hair feather for my little Rachael. They do offer a referral program as well as frequent customer program. Since each chair is rented from Jodie - each stylist has their own scale as well as some offering Kama'aina on top of your already great fee and some just offering a general good rate for all clientele. I can tell you that finding a decent keiki cut for $15 was a dream for me. I became accustomed to some high end salons for her and I living on the mainland - This place offered style for nominal fees. I think the only thing I missed was my favorite gay male receptionist at my old salon - but Jodie's funny husband will do :) read more

Sarah Angel has been rescuing my hair for years now! Even though I have moved away for college my trips home always include a visit to this salon. The girls here are amazing and really make a point not only to work with what you want, but also what you're hair will work with. I like cuts and colors that are low maintenance and Sarah keeps me looking good until my next trip back. I remember having my hair done there and a bride called saying her stylist canceled that day. J Meier to the rescue! They told me it happens all the time and the girls got the bride and flower girl in and out with exactly what they wanted. So accommodating and friendly! Best salon on Maui! read more

Great haircut by owner Jodie. She took her time, kept asking me questions about what I wanted, and did an excellent job. She's not only from Wisconsin, she's from Green Bay. So be careful what you say about the Packers when she has a razor in her hand. read more

I cannot say enough good things about the color that Gene-Marie gave me at the J. Meier Salon in Kihei. I was on vacation in Hawaii and my hair was a mess. (I did not have time to get it done before I left.) So I took a risk going to a stylist I did not know, based on excellent Yelp reviews. Gene-Marie did a lovely color correction - painstakingly putting both low lights and highlights in my hair. She is quite expert and did a very careful job. She communicates well and gave me exactly what I was looking for. When I walked out, my hair looked terrific! The price was excellent -- considerably less than I pay on the mainland. I will definitely return. If you are on vacation, look no further than this salon. Treat yourself and put yourself in Gene-Marie's capable hands. read more

I absolutely love Lia, she made great conversation and my hair came out exactly how I wanted it. Definitely recommend

I recently moved to Maui & was very nervous about finding a new stylist. I relied on great reviews on Yelp & was extremely happy with the cut & highlights by Jodi. She listened to my concerns (I had had a bad experience with a highlight in the past) and explained everything so I felt comfortable. Whitney cut and thinned my daughter's thick, unruly hair and even put it in a cool braid. Everyone in the salon was so personable--it definitely has the feel of a hometown salon with skills better than expensive salons. read more
