The new location is in south Maui Gardens and such a great location. I was able to drop my husband off and walk the grounds. Very affordable prices and I haven't had a complaint. I am pretty simple when it comes to my hair. Just a wash and a cut, so I can't review on coloring, but they do that too. Spacious studio that has stations for about 3-5 stylists. Our stylist was so nice and thorough with my teenage son's haircut. He's super particular and he looked great in time for our photos. Located in a cute plaza next to Man cave. There are a few places to park. Also provide a parking lot available. A few of the other shops aren't open because of corona. However this hair studio is and I needed a cut really badly. The studio is set up for one client at a time and to wear face mask, of course! Love my hair stylist just not a fan at all of the owner Wendee. My son had a hair cut and I wanted mostly the front trimmed because he was crying off and on during the appointment, and it bothers his eye sight. She must not have kids of her own because her reaction was extremely rude and insulting. 'Maybe not do the sideburns because I cant have him crying the whole time'. Poor choice of words especially as the owner. The other stylists were more thoughtful and understanding. I do not force my son to get a hair cut because I am not able to cut it myself, so I come when its absolutely needed. Please do not say you offer kids hair cuts if you cant handle the off and on crying. Also, as a local and Hawaiian you do not understand the meaning of 'Aloha' so take it out of your business name. read more

My usual hair cutter didn't reply to a few messages so had to book elsewhere so this place got some good reviews. I called in the AM and they had an opening end of day. I went in, got a good hair-cut and paid. The fee was like everywhere. Parking was easy. So have to give them props. Lia cut my hair. All good. I have never ventured to a hair stylist beyond my own hairdresser, as I have very thin hair with no body and thats gotten exceedingly dry as I've gotten older, however, I'm very glad I did. Prior to coming to Maui for a 24-day vacation I wasn't able to get in to my hairdresser in my hometown due to my hectic work schedule. I yelped numerous salons in Kihei and went with the J. Meier Salon with Whitney Leigh Saffell. My first visit I had her trim my hair and loved it. I set up a second appointment for a highlight and was beyond happy. Whitney listens to what you want and ensures you're happy with the end result. She used some Moroccon Oil products on my hair that calmed down my horribly frizzy hair. She's the only hairdresser who has used and recommended products that actually work. I can't wait till we move here where she will be my regular hairdresser and thankfully that day isn't far off! read more

Today my regular hairstylist in Kihei was off for the week.By sheer chance I found the best hairstylist I have ever had in Chicago or Maui. Her name is Wendee, and she is with the J Meier salon in Kihei. I wear a hairpiece and blending it with my regular hair is not an easy job. Wendee did a fantastic job of blending. First let me start off by saying - this is LONG overdue! Jodie (the owner) and her staff at J Meier is nothing short of fantastic. I called in one day and actually found their original profile for Yelp and was quite impressed by the display of support for her new business. I really only wanted to get my daughter's hair cut as she was in dire need considering her bangs where really more like layers at this point. I ended up loving the repoire of the gals I spoke with and booked an appointment for myself too. (which was kinda nerve racking considering I haven't let somebody else touch my hair in 3 years). Have you ever walked into a salon, told them exactly what you wanted for yourself and your keiki - only to walk away feeling like - OMG they listened to exactly what I wanted and it's exactly what we wanted to look like. Yup - that kind of feeling. I hate the anxiety of the uncertainty - but these gals don't BS - they give you excellent service - no fuss attentiveness and even a hair feather for my little Rachael. They do offer a referral program as well as frequent customer program. Since each chair is rented from Jodie - each stylist has their own scale as well as some offering Kama'aina on top of your already great fee and some just offering a general good rate for all clientele. I can tell you that finding a decent keiki cut for $15 was a dream for me. I became accustomed to some high end salons for her and I living on the mainland - This place offered style for nominal fees. I think the only thing I missed was my favorite gay male receptionist at my old salon - but Jodie's funny husband will do :) read more

Sarah Angel has been rescuing my hair for years now! Even though I have moved away for college my trips home always include a visit to this salon. The girls here are amazing and really make a point not only to work with what you want, but also what you're hair will work with. I like cuts and colors that are low maintenance and Sarah keeps me looking good until my next trip back. I remember having my hair done there and a bride called saying her stylist canceled that day. I cannot say enough good things about the color that Gene-Marie gave me at the J. Meier Salon in Kihei. I was on vacation in Hawaii and my hair was a mess. (I did not have time to get it done before I left.) So I took a risk going to a stylist I did not know, based on excellent Yelp reviews. Gene-Marie did a lovely color correction - painstakingly putting both low lights and highlights in my hair. She is quite expert and did a very careful job. She communicates well and gave me exactly what I was looking for. When I walked out, my hair looked terrific! The price was excellent -- considerably less than I pay on the mainland. If I could give Wendy -1 star, I would. I walked in for a highlight consultation. I had an appointment with Wendy. As I walked in the door, I was greeted with a strange look then "Wow, your hair is really damaged!" This was all before I even sat in the chair. I should have walked out at that point. I had to ask Wendy if she wanted me to sit in the chair so she could evaluate my hair. After sitting down, she told me I would need to wait 2 months before booking an appointment because "I need it to grow out so it would look nice." My instant thought was no thank you because #1 you aren't confident as a hair stylist and #2 you were very rude upon initially meeting you. She asked me if I wanted to book an appointment 2 months out and I said "No thank you " and left. I found another salon nearby and a wonderful stylist who did an absolute beautiful job on my hair and didn't treat me with such a rude attitude.
