I went to Beauty Bar for the first time to get a fix on a bad color job done at another salon on Maui. Ross was able to fit me in later in the evening and he was AMAZING. I can only describe him as a hair color god. He listened to exactly what I wanted, was easy to talk to throughout the whole visit and was able to take my hair from an awful copper red to a beautiful light brown with highlights. I've found my new permanent hair stylist on Maui. Update: I am notorious for waiting until the last minute to schedule a hair appointment. I KNEW I needed one before Halloween and, because Beauty Bar is the ONLY salon I will go to on island, I was so incredibly pleased when I was able to get an appointment with Marisa on short notice. I had a fantastic time sipping on tea while Marisa and I chatted away like old friends and she turned my hair from from a frizzy, dried out mess to a silky, smooth style that I absolutely adore. Every time I go into Beauty Bar, the ambience is so warm and welcoming and every single client exudes happiness to be there. Now that I know I can count on both Ross and Marisa as hair style pros, I am even more enamored with Beauty Bar. I checked in 15 minutes before my appointment and the receptionist said I wasn't in the schedule. She asked if I was in the right place and I said yes. I showed her my appointment card and still said I wasn't on the schedule. No apology. I glanced around the room and the two women stylists just stared at me unsmiling. The receptionist told me to wait in the waiting area while she asked a stylist. She returned to tell me that she's almost done and can take me. I smiled at the stylist to thank her and she just stared at me. I left because I don't want them working on my hair. I've been going to the Beauty Bar for a couple of years now, and I've had nothing but wonderful service and great haircuts and color! Ainsley is so incredible; she quickly learned my style and preferences, and always has great ideas for me! Right now, I'm enjoying my asymmetrical cut with turquoise, royal blue, and titanium highlights on the long side. She expertly applied my color so that it looks subtle but vibrant, and gave me some ideas on different styling without pushing products! Everyone in the salon is friendly, and they make you feel very comfortable in their stylish new waiting area. They offer coffee, tea, or water to everyone who walks in the door, and the décor is very chic, making it feel like an elevated, luxury experience. All the ladies @ the Beauty Bar are amazing and sweet, but this review is to spotlight Falishah for going above and beyond for me! I came into the salon clueless about what I really wanted done and how long it would take to achieve it. I showed her an image and she was able to achieve it the best she could in one session, mind you that I have previously used box hair dye hair and I have dark Asian hair. I was there from 12:45 to about 8. Even though they closed @ 7 today Falishah did not rush nor did she half ass anything so she could get out on time. All the ladies worked together to help lighten my dark stubborn hair and I'm so thankful how dedicated they are to all their clients. Falishah was so enjoyable to be around and made those 8 hours bearable. I adore my hair and would for sure 10/10 would recommend :) I'll be back soon! read more

I was looking for a salon in Wailuku to have my highlights done. I found Beauty Bar online. The online quote for my full head highlights was $150. This is much more than I am use to paying but I was willing to take a chance. The highlights were lovely & the work very professional. My final bill was more than twice what I have been paying for highlights & hair cut. I have been having highlights for 20 years. While the work was nice it is not worth $240. I cannot afford to return to this salon. I find it over priced. I know everyone needs to pay their bills----but so do I. Good Luck & God Bless read more

I was born and raised on Maui and moved to San Francisco five years ago to be with my bf who is now my husband. I used to go to Zena (the owner) way back when she worked at Colours in Kahului. Zena is very talented with color and cut and is very nice. I love the décor of Beauty Bar, it is very organic looking. I much prefer that to the sheik décor of some San Francisco and New York City salons. Also, everybody is very nice there. I don't understand why people would give this place $$$ for cost. Maybe it is because I live in San Francisco where I spend $100 for a hair cut but I think Beauty Bar is more than affordable for the quality of product/service that you get. read more

This salon is very nice and located in Wailuku. I originally came into the salon to buy some Kerastase hair products and decided that i DID need a haircut.... so why not? I scheduled my appointment and was able to get in before the week was out. My appointment was with Mindi. She was super friendly and really listened to my requests for my hair cut. I'm not a hair dresser, I don't know what things are called, but I know kind of what I want my hair to look like. We called and got right in! They were so kind and generous with their time! My friend just had surgery and needed her hair washed...and they worked us right in! Best hair salon in cenrtral Maui!! $33 for an amazing mens haircut is very reasonable!! The salon is clean, smells great and has a very calming and serene decor. I've been going to Beauty Bar (Mindy) for about 3 yrs now and haven't walked out of this salon unhappy or not LOVING it! Mindy does beautiful work and they use only the best products..."KERASTASE"! I've referred 3 people who actually went and will be returning to Mindy for their future hair services. Totally love this place and HIGHLY recommended. I cannot say enough wonderful things about Zena @ Beauty Bar. She does an amazing job with cut AND color, and she really listens to you when you describe what you want, and takes lots of time (just with YOU) to make sure you are happy. Thanks to Zena, I can go 6 months between visits - or more ! I have a lot of gray hair, and when I explained to her that I couldn't afford to touch up my color every 6 weeks, she came up with a plan - the scattered high and lo lights look completely natural and minimize roots, so I can go longer between visits :) I really appreciate that she worked with me to make sure that while I might not come in as often, I would keep coming back. I rated this salon pricing as moderate because for the amount of time and number of foils required for my hair, it never costs as much as it would at other salons. So what I have done is expensive, but at Beauty Bar the price is actually very reasonable compared to some other salons, especially when you factor in the reduced number of times I have to go per year, and the quality of the results. Also good to know - same day appointments are sometimes available ! And I think it is wheelchair-accessible, but there may be one or two low steps to actually get in the salon (I think there is a ramp but I am not 100% sure). read more

I have seen people go to other salons after receiving highlights and going for a touch up where the highlights don't match up with the previous color. After moving to Kihei from the mainland a couple of months ago, I have been trying to find a place to have my hair color done. Annie came highly recommended and I was not disappointed. Annie matched my base color, my high lites and low lites to what my stylist I left in Burbank CA had been doing. I have alot of hair and she had allowed enough time to make sure I was pleased with everything. She also trimmed and blow dried my hair. I love my hair again.
