I was so lucky to cross paths with Laura outside of the salon and saw first hand the beautiful work she does on hair color. That got us to talking about my hair and the bad haircut I had recently received from another salon. She gave me suggestions, her card and told me to come and see her. A few weeks later I made an appointment at the salon and gave her an opportunity to check out the damage up close. Apparently the last person who cut my hair really did a number on it. Since I didn't want to lose anymore length (the other salon ended up taking off waaaay more than I wanted) - Laura came up with a plan to fix the cut while my hair grew out a bit. I was disappointed with this place. I was getting married and wanted beach waves. When I got there I mentioned that I'd also like the front pinned up. The guy freaked out and said he doesn't do that... how do you do hair for 10 years and not pin? Come on, you need to be flexible with people!! He called someone else in and she pinned great but sprayed some stuff she called super glue in my hair. That plus beach wind= a rats nest! Surely they know they wind blows in Hawaii right? I'm in Maui for two weeks and just walked in to the salon after having a horrible experience with tangly hair after five days of snorkeling every morning. Nikki helped me out with a trim and long layers with texturing. She also helped me pick out some products (Aveda!) to help my dry brittle hair. I picked out the cherry almond conditioner and hair oil. Love love love her and wish she could be my go-to stylist. She is one of those local business owners that you just want to support because she loves what she does, she is extremely talented and you feel like you get such a value for your money. Her shop is cozy and so inviting. I have been to her twice for hair cut and color - she did my very first balayage and I am so happy with it. I also and purchased product that I love!!! So I came over for Thanksgiving Vacation and decided I wanted to change my hair color from dark brown, red, with caramel highlights to platinum blonde. Went to see Laura. I LOVED HER!!!! Everything from the Salon to the service received. Her personality made me feel as though I have known her my whole life. If I lived in Maui she and I would definitely be friends. First time and she pulled my color up to a platinum blonde. First time EVER my husband looked and said he loved it. YAY!!!!! I highly recommend Laura. I found this hair salon by accident. They were able to squeeze me in to cover up my gray roots, and cut my hair. Derek did an excellent job, and he was very fun to talk to. Aloha All, I wrote a review on Laura and this salon a couple years ago. Laura the owner, was the first stylist to color my hair in over a decade and she did a great job, I have continued to go to her since then. I am writing another review because yesterday was another first for me. I have had long straight blonde hair for most of my life. I did not think it would look good any other way. Though my hair was long, I think it is pretty thin, and in the past when I have had it layered, the layers just end up looking very straight and choppy and too much effort to maintain on a daily basis in our humid climate here. I went into the salon wanting a change... but wasn't exactly sure what that was. Laura consulted with me, explained what I could do with my style and also explained that layers can be easy to maintain and style quickly as long as they are cut properly. She also suggested to put another highlight color in my hair, going a little strawberry...again something I would not have thought of myself. In the end she ended up cutting several inches off my length, did highlights and low lights and added some layers. The color contrast is great for my coloring and the final test, I got up this morning, took a shower and styled my hair in 8 minutes. I love it and am so happy I listened to Laura. She is a true professional, she she's things that we may not... overall another wonderful experience. this is a cute little shop but very expensive. happy with color but the cut was hard for me to manage. looked nice when I left the shop but I could not get it to look nice. and usually after I leave get a cut I get compliments but not so this time. there are much better places to go. Laura is maybe better with long hair. read more
