I chose Marlee for her "hair cut only" because it was the best option for me as woman with hair loss and hair in poor, knotty condition, likely due to menopause. My hair was not healthy enough to warrant spending big money. Yet, I wanted a professional to look over my hair and help me to get it to a reasonable state without cutting off a huge chunk. She was on time, friendly, and, though I was concerned that the cut was "dry" (no wash and blow), and I believed that is a bad move for my curly/wavy hair, her confidence alleviated my fears. She did a fine job and I didnʻt lose too much length. She also recommended a great brush which I purchased on site. read more

South Shore Studio - Hair Salons Near Me - Kihei, Hawaii

Marlee gave me a beautiful cut and style - in a relaxed setting, for a good price! Top notch salon

My hair was getting waaay too long and my little guy was about to start school so we decided it was time for a snip. I did my research online and saw quite a few recommend Marlee, the owner, for children's haircuts. South Shore Studio was one of the few places that were available on short notice (we booked just a day or two before) and had availabilities to accommodate all three of us. That weekend, we finally went in as a whole family to get our much overdue "COVID cut." The studio is located at Azeka Makai Shopping Center, where Nalu's and Taco Bell. Upon walking in, the shop is clean and surprisingly bright with a lot of light. I was a little nervous at first, but everyone was wearing their masks and chairs were nicely spaced out. Marlee tackled my little guy's super long hair so quickly despite him being extremely ticklish. She accidentally snipped the tie on his facemask, but luckily I had an extra (it happens, so definitely be prepared). He loved his new hair! Britney worked on my husband & I and gave us new fresh cuts. I chopped all my hair off, so it did take a bit. When I asked it to be cut shorter, she happily obliged. Overall, I liked my new, short do and would recommend their studio to anyone, especially if you're looking to get a cut on short notice! Prices are reasonable and they seem to have great availability. They also offer other services for brows, lashes, skin. read more

I attended a wedding last weekend & wanted my hair to be all cute because I honestly could not remember the last time I got to get all dressed up for an event. I searched for a salon in Kihei because I did not want to have to drive into town twice. Now let me just say, I get a tiny bit nervous when it's not my usual hair dresser touching my hair. Yet...I'm always up for giving other salons a try. I found South Shore Studio which is still very fresh & new with everyone giving them 5 stars. I ended my search at that & booked my appointment with April for a cleanse, condition, blowdry, & style. I walked in & was greeted by April who I right off the back could tell was full of spunk & very good energy. As she was washing my hair, I explained that I wanted loose natural curls. She seemed like she understood what I wanted, but I was still a little nervous as the last time I told this to someone at a different salon they put my big mop of hair in rollers under the dryer which caused the mop to get even bigger & puffier. However, after talking to her & learning that she has been doing hair for over 30 years, I was confident! After the washing, I thought it was then just going to consist of her getting the curling iron & that would be it. Boy was I wrong! The tedious process of blowing out my thick hair so that it would curl was next. This was the longest process of the whole thing, which dang I was wondering how the heck was her arm not sore after that. She then began the flat iron curling which each curl was curled the same & the same size making every piece just fall so nicely into place. I had been contemplating cutting my hair that I've been growing out for a couple years, but after seeing how amazing she made it look, my decision was easily made. Please go see April, she is amazing with a lot of experience. Thank you, thank you, April. I got so many compliments that night. Wish those curls were permanent! read more

Marlee is truly amazing! I trust no one else from now on and actually I am due for another cut. She also did my micro blading. My first time doing my eyebrows. Yesterday I had an eyelash tint with Ashlie at South Shore Studio. It was the best last tint I have ever had. Now that I'm older I cannot wear makeup without looking like 'Whatever Happened to Baby Jane' or the Crypt Keeper and as a red head my lashes are almost white. Ashlie used a henna/dye hybrid on my lashes. They look dark and thick and I love them. The only makeup I'm wearing in the photo is lip gloss. Ashlie was also fun to talk to and personable. If you need a lash tint you should absolutely go see Ashlie. She's amazing. read more

Britney did an amazing job on my hair. I came in last minute with a few pictures of ideally what I'd like and she talked it out with me, gave me a few options with price estimates, and did the job wonderfully. Ashlie is wonderful! I had horrible eyebrows and scheduled an appointment at South Shore Studio. Ashlie is a master esthetician and truly an expert. My brows were thin, had bald spots, and uneven. Ashlie carefully reshaped them then used a powder technique to fill them in. The results are stunning. They look so much better than natural brows because they are just perfect with no visible lines. Now, I don't have to draw on my eyebrows each morning. Words can't describe how happy I am with my new brows. Ashlie is the best, I highly recommend seeing her for any of her extensive services. read more

Britney is so sweet! I came in to get a cut while in town. She spent as much time on me as she would on a regular client, which I really appreciated. She was great at talking through the cut. I have naturally wavy hair and some stylists don't know how to cut it. She was also lovely to talk with. I'd definitely make an appt with her again if I need a cut while I'm in town. read more

Britney at SSS is amazing! I showed up with a ratty, rooty, unkempt sun & wind-damaged mess on my head and she made it beautiful shiny, silky hair again! She was sweet and friendly, just the right amount of chit-chat to make me feel welcomed but not enough to disturb my occassional 30 second hairdo- induced narcoleptic catnaps. She had clear communication and listened to what I wanted while offering expert advice and recommendations There is nothing worse than telling a stylist what you want only to have them decide to do whatever they want to your head nstead. None of that here! The salon was comfortable and clean. Products are quality and smell nice. Will definitely return. read more

I finally found a fantastic salon in Kihei - I love this place! It's fairly new, but the staff are experienced, talented, and friendly! The salon itself is clean and the prices are reasonable.
