My husband had been looking for a place to get our son's haircut for a while and I found out about this place through a friend who gets her son's hair cut here. I've always passed by this shop when I'd be at Maui Mall, but never knew they cut children's hair as young as 1! We were able to make an appointment the same day which worked out perfectly. I don't remember the name of the lady that cut our son's hair, but she was really fast and efficient. This was our son's first hair cut ever (he's 3 1/2) and I was worried he'd get nervous. However, she made him feel comfortable and was able to patiently work around our super ticklish, squirmy little boy. About 18" of hair gone, just like that! My heart may have broken just a little, haha. We were in and out in less than 30 minutes and my son's been loving his short hair ever since. I only wish she had used regular scissors vs. the razor as it can damage hair, but overall pleased with the results. The shop is pretty basic, but spacious and clean. They met our needs and we'll be back for another haircut for the kiddo in the future. read more

We booked it on their Vagaro app and were able to also look over the services available as well as times. My son came home with a haircut that was horribly done by June. My son who is quiet and don't want to hurt peoples feelings didn't want to say anything the way June did his fade was horrible. I don't how she missed it herself. Most stylists would at least double or even triple check their work, especially on a fade. My son wanted the guy (don't know his name but wished my son waited for him) who was there to cut his hair but had other clients waiting for him so my son was given June. I called the place up, at first they were going to have June fix it because it was her "mistake" and if I wanted another stylist I would have to pay again. Fortunately the person who I talked to on the phone talked to her manager and said that my son can come in with "no charge " to have his fade fixed by Sarah, another stylist & was assured Tara is "Good." Lesson learned for my son... wait for the person you want to cut your hair and next time make an appointment. Maybe I will have my son go back but next time with someone who knows how to fade and knows how to cut hair! Update: thank you Sarah for fixing my sons hair, looks great! I arrived earlier than my appointment and yet the owner still makes sure I am taken care though they are quiet busy. So I don't wait that long. I got June to cut my hair and she's very sweet and diligent in doing her work. She's very focus and I love that she's also listening to my preference of the haircut. She also works quiet fast. I was a little bit cautious when I saw the salon though, because it was very low-end in terms of the interior. But apparently I saw the people do their jobs very well and the owner always checks the surrounding. Not much customer service though the owner offered me to drink but she didn't serve me. I guess improvement can be done on that extra effort for customer service like guest serving and also effort to make the salon interior to be more modern. If you compare with Salon 253, the price is only $10 cheaper, but Salon 253 has a beautiful salon interior and good customer service. I never try haircut there, but I can say that if you want a cheaper one then go to this salon. But if price doesn't matter, since not much different, just go to Salon 253 for better place to see while your hair being cut. read more

But the main concern why i gave 2 start is the lady who cuts my hair is terrible her name is June, i went to other barber shop which is supercuts the guy who handle my hair notice a long hair on my left ear which supposed not have one. I took my two boys in to get their haircuts. One was with val the other was with June. Val was absolutely amazing! She was great with my son and did an amazing job. On the other hand, June was terrible!! She cut the back of my sons hair so short by his ears and it was crooked!!! When I confronted her about the mistake she walked away and didnt come back. Val tried to fix it by making it even and fading the back so it doesn't look too bad. I paid $46 which I dont think I should have paid for the work June did! read more

After some mixed reviews from others over the years, I was hesitant to trust my locks to anyone at this business. However, my boss and his wife only had rave reviews for a particular hair dresser at Great Styles and Cuts. After a disastrous hair cut a year before, and a few bad experiences before that with another stylist at another beauty salon (she was an okay stylist but horribly rude-I felt like crying by the time I made it out of her chair) it was finally time for me to find a new stylist. I finally made the decision to trust my boss and try out Daniel at Great Styles and Cuts. I was pleasantly surprised. The price for a shampoo, cut and style on my super long hair (almost to my lower back) was $28. He spent over an hour and a half toiling over my long thick hair and cutting layers in to make it perfect. He doesn't talk a lot while he's cutting my hair, which I love because that means he's completely concentrating on what he's doing. Rather than making rude, backhanded insults at me like my previous stylist, Daniel called me "gorgeous!" and sent me out the door feeling like a million bucks. I've been back to Daniel at least 4 times since then and he never disappoints. I strongly recommend Daniel for cuts and styles for both men and women. read more

Worst experience with the lady June. I asked for a fade which it doesn't look much as a fade. The hair cut that she gave me I could've saved my $26 & done it myself. But yeah whoever goes there I highly recommend not to take your kids to June. Most barbers take a lot of pride in doing fades but this lady June is very bad in doing fades. WORST EXPERIENCE EVER. First of all I just have to say I Love the people who work at Great Styles and Cuts including the receptionists. They are such working hard people that are so professional, kind and organized. The workers I would love to give a shout out to is Daniel, Val, June, Kim, Myong and Donna. I went in a couple days ago to get highlights and a haircut with Daniel. As I was waiting for the highlights to settle in my hair I got to know most of the workers on the floor. It is ridiculous how busy they get especially Daniel but that is what happens when you are the best!! Speaking up is a major component to make sure you get the best hair results. It is NOT bad to speak up because they love to have your input since it is YOUR hair. So they are really sweet and caring. Overall I recommend them 100%. read more

I got the absolute worst bang trim of my life here. The "stylist" (if you can call her that) was completely careless and rushed, even though there were no other customers waiting, and did a terrible hack job. I could have done a better job myself with regular scissors and a mirror. I walked in, never having been there before, because I was getting pretty desperate for a bang trim and finally had time. The stylist was available right away, which was great, but maybe should have been a sign. My bangs were pinned up because they were so long. I took out the pins, and she didn't even use water or anything to help flatten them down. She did not take the time to separate out my bangs from the rest of my hair, so a whole bunch of bangs didn't get cut at all, and a bunch of long hairs that weren't part of my bangs did get cut. She barely touched them with a comb and just started hacking away. I was in shock. She kept trying to be done, and I kept having to point out places where they weren't yet cut... which is hard to do when your eyes have to be closed due to careless flying scissors and hairs. That shouldn't be the customer's job. When she was done she quickly used a blow dryer to blow away the shower of hairs, and sent me on my way. No attempt at a style or making me look decent as I walked out the door. Thankfully it isn't a huge deal and they'll grow back, but I felt like I had to warn others because the experience was that bad. Total waste of money and now I have to deal with ugly weird cut bangs for a couple months. read more

I always have a cut done by Myong because she's pro and super friendly. She's also efficient with her time and I can always expect a great cut. They also send out text reminders for your appointment which is convenient. Everyone else in there is super cool. Although they welcome walk-ins, best to make a rez if you want a specific salonist. read more

Kailoa is perhaps the best person to ever cut my hair. He's an excellent barber and much better than the ones they've had at Great Styles and Cuts in previous years. I highly recommend him for any style or occasion. I took off one star only because I've had bad haircuts from this place before, but never with Kailoa. read more

This has more to do with management. I made an appointment for 10am right when the shop opened. There were 2 walk-ins sitting and I sat. The hairstylists were setting up. The hairdresser in charge took the walk-ins first and said that it did not matter that I had an appointment or that I was on time. Really unprofessional attitude and not a great first impression. This place is a wonderful place to get a relaxing and amazing haircut. Each one of the staff all has there own place in a 5 star boutique! Daniel, is wonderful and has given me haircut time after time, a wonderful and creative artist when it comes to hair and always makes you feel welcome. Val and Bruno are also just as wonderful and caring to each individual customer haircut and need to style. They want you to feel good about you when you walk out that door!
