    Mixed salad with chicken cutlet
    Sam R.

A huge fan of this Irish daily. Located in north riverdale 9; the bronx. Always packed and line to get food. The have a hot food buffet and changing their specials daily. Hot food is always fresh and huge portions. Their salad bar is nice and always fresh produce. My only concern with the salad bar is the portions being a bit bigger. By the time you add all the toppings it overpowers the salad. The chicken cutlet is always fresh and seasoned well. The sandwiches are a hit or miss. Sometimes they get a little skimp on the cold cuts but I'm always watching and telling them to put a little more lol. I always come here for lunch and staff is welcoming and friendly. My go to lunch spot when I need something quick and good. A strong sleeper are their pecan cookies. I always get one while I wait for my for food.

The ingredients Tierney uses is always fresh and delicious. I've had almost everything on their menu and was never unsatisfied. The quality of ingredients and food is on par with cafes you'd find in Manhattan, which is a rarity in the Bronx. You can get a good meal for a decent price, about $6-12. For me, that's not bad compared to prices you would have to pay in Manhattan. I highly recommend a Chicken Casear Salad, Grilled Chicken with Pesto, or Grilled Chicken Casear Wrap. They do casear stuff really well :) They also have to-die for desserts. The chocolate chip cookies are AMAZING when they're fresh. One complaint I have is that whenever I get them in the store, the cookies are always semi-hard. This is a major disappointment because most of the time, the cookies are soft when Tierneys caters so I expect the same quality when I go to the store. Other baked goods include small pecan or blueberry pies, tarts, peanut butter cookies, and croissants. I highly recommend Tierneys for your next lunch option. They also have excellent catering options.

Fresh semolina hero hollowed out. The bread was so fresh and not soggy whatsoever. Then placed inside delicious, homemade meatballs, baked deli in the deli itself. I ate the sandwich in two settings. It was just as good the second time if not better. You can tell the sauce is homemade, not too wheat, but typical homemade sauce, a.k.a. gravy. The meatballs were tender, seasoned to perfection and did not fall apart. I just loved the whole presentation and the hero itself. Inside the deli, there are many Italian delicacies and hot food available for takeout. They also have so many good cold cuts in the case by the pound. I sat out in front. There is a couple of seats and a table.. Great service and experience!

I was craving meatballs and decided to try theirs. Definitely an excellent Meatball tender well seasoned and great sauce 10/10 You can only order the Meatball cone (17.00) Big disappointment for myself. I just wanted 2 Meatballs and sauce. I also asked for Eggplant Parmesan in a dish . Now the man helping me huffed and said I don't know if we have any? Ok it was the day before thanksgiving and the line was out the door and not shrinking. Don't take that out on a paying customer. I got it though and am grateful. The eggplant was 6.5/10 as it was not ripe eggplant and some spots were raw even after reheating in the oven. Deli itself was loaded with imported Italian goods. Plenty of variety. If you live in this neighborhood it saves you a trip to Arthur. The deli is very narrow so be prepared to bump elbows . There are a few seats outside.

I don't even like eggplant and I'm in love with this dish. All of the sandwiches hit too. The Italian sushi is interesting, but eat it fresh as the arugula doesn't stand up to refrigeration too well. My perfect foodie day is going to Mike's, buying some mortadella and a ball of homemade mozzarella, then popping into Madonia's next door to get a loaf and some fresh hand-filled cannoli.

I finally was served by Chef David Greco himself. He beat Bobby Flay in Eggplant throw down. You can see the picture of him on the show. Dave is super friendly and engaging. The Italian sushi is definitely very innovative. Soft prosciutto is rolled in sushi style with filling of arugula, cheese, and sun dried tomatoes. There are two kinds of dipping: balsamic and pesto. Both of them are complimenting the sushi. Eggplant parmigiana is definitely a must try. It's like a lasagna made of layers of thin fried eggplant. You can make mozzarella pull. So delicious, not surprised that he beat Bobby Flay.

We went right at opening, only 2 tables taken and it took us 45 minutes to get 2 sandwiches. Meanwhile we saw plenty of other tables come after us and eat before us. The pasta salad had a black hair in it. Gross. We ordered two sprites that never came. The chicken parm was cold in the center (heated up my microwave??) and the top focaccia was SO burnt that we had to ask for a different piece. So they brought us a cold slab without even heating it up. This wasn't a fun eating experience and I would not recommend. The wait staff was pretty irritated and not friendly. We never even told them about the hair or sprites because it wasn't worth it.
