My husband and I visited Tides for Valentine's Day this year, and I cannot believe that I'm just now getting around to leaving a review! And the reason for it happening now? I have been CRAVING (!!!!) a few of the items on the menu! The calamari, scallops, lobster - chef's kiss! The steak? Mouthwatering. I know this is a seafood restaurant, but our waiter advised the ownership is the same as Forbes Mill (also in Danville) and if you've ever been there, you know it's probably the best steak that you can find in the east bay, and the steak at Tides is the same quality. Despite going on Valentine's Day when it was extremely busy, our waiter and the kitchen did a fantastic job. We never felt like service suffered and they were incredibly on top of everything from start to finish. Our waiter gave us amazing recommendations from food items, to cocktails, and wine pairings, and was just so warm and friendly. The restaurant itself is so nicely decorated and I love the modern and trendy take. Given the location, I was expecting it to have a more traditional aesthetic, and I'm so impressed with the direction they went with it. The entire vibe of the restaurant is great and this is definitely a stand out place in the area. I am counting down the days until I go back!

My wife and I have been wanting to try this place for a while now and finally pulled the trigger. One of our main hesitations was that it is a little pricier than where we normally go, but we decided to have a nice birthday dinner out. The food was fantastic. We sat out on the front patio, which was lovely to have the extra space and the outside air. The lychee lemonade was incredible. It was everything that I wanted it to be. They have a good variety of lemonade flavors, but if you like sweet flavored things and lychee then I strongly recommend this one over any others. It is very sweet but it was so refreshing. The gnocchi has the option of adding 2-3 Shrimp to it ($7 per shrimp) but it also had so much flavor. Lastly we had the chocolate lava cake for desert. It was a delectable end to a wonderful meal. Definitely a good place to go for a nicer night out!

Great service, great seafood! We came here for a birthday. It has a very friendly and quiet vibe (the music is not too loud which I like). They do have a TV, which I found a bjt out of place. The appetizers were great possibly the highlight. We liked all our food though. The prices are a bit high but there's options around $25 if you're trying not to spend your entire paycheck.

My first visit with a few friends to celebrate a birthday. We had a few appetizers and shared a few main courses. The ceviche was pretty tasty, crab cakes were good, and loved the Brussel sprouts. I thought the risotto was ok but I did enjoy the braised short ribs. We also had butter cake for dessert. Which was warm with ice cream and berries. I would go back and try a few more dishes.

Met up with Black Badge Yelp buddy and his wife for a lovely evening of seafood at Tides. We made a Resy reservation and was seated promptly. The restaurant was packed. I heard the ownership is the same as Forbes Mill Steakhouse. Beautiful interior with a separate bar area. We ordered a fried calamari and Brussels sprouts for the table. Entrees we had the scallops, blackened halibut and the cioppino, all of which were excellent. Service was good. Street parking might be hard to find since the restaurants location in a busy area of Danville.

The other night we tried Tides for the second time in a while and I must say I was very impressed! I heard they did some staff changing and can honestly say the second time was a winner!! The decor is beautiful, the menu has a lot of unique stuff that makes you want to come back to try it all out Phenomenal service, prob one of the best we have had! We started off with the lobster toast which was absolutely amazing! How I would love to add that to my daily menu lol. It's definitely a must try The Ribeye steak is great size with great Flavor cooked to perfection! My hands down favorite item was the scallops with truffled risotto. So amazing so rich and hard to stop eating. The scallops can easily be cooked wrong but they understood the assignment and cooked them to perfection! We will be back to try all the goodies on the menu!

Disclaimer: This review is only on the food taste and service as I did not pay for this meal. Came here for an early dinner for 8 people. The hostess greeted us warmly. Our server was really nice and introduced their specials. Had a drink that I forgot the name, but it was basically passion fruit margarita with jalapeño bitters. It was great with a kick and tajin on the glass rim for more spiciness. Should have gotten more of that drink, but decided to go with red wine to pair with dinner. The shrimp cocktail was fine with big pieces. The shishito peppers were good - I had like 8-9 pieces and only one piece was really spicy. Also had brussels sprouts, but I did not take a photo and it was average. My main dish was cioppino. The presentation was not great as the bread covered all the seafood. The taste was good as I finished the whole dish. For dessert, I chose the butter cake as it included a scoop of vanilla ice cream. The presentation and the taste were good. There was nothing bad at this place, but nothing really stood out either. With so many great restaurants in Danville, they may need to do more to get customers back. I would rate the food at 4 stars, but their service at 5 stars. Although I did not pay, I did see the prices. At those prices, I expected the food to taste better.

If you like to eat sea food, this place is for you. It has a variety of dishes, delicacies, desserts and drinks. I went for dinner with my husband and dog and it was a very pleasant experience, the service was very good, the food arrived at the right time, and they were very kind to us. Highly recommended!! Everything on the menu is delicious. You can't order a bad dish here. The fish is super fresh.

Came for my Birthday! The staff was very sweet, in high spirits for Mother's Day weekend. I had the Oh Boy Peach cocktail and the scallop risotto. The cocktail was very sweet, I personally would have liked more of a mint taste to it. And the scallops risotto was very favorable, and deceptively filling. We also had the lava cake for dessert which to be honest was a little dry. For others, this very well could be a perfect place, I just feel like I prefer things slightly milder than they made things. Service was great, 10/10. They gave me a birthday card which was sweet, but didn't offer any type of dessert or anything. We had a good time, would definitely return and try something new.

Wanted to go to a steakhouse for dinner and they had last minute availability so glad they did. We were seated immediately and decided to dine outside. This place was absolutely beautiful. The service is probably the best Ive experienced in a long time Daniel was absolutely amazing. The staff in general were so welcoming and attentive. To start we tried the Power and Infused lemonade honestly it was way too sour but we were able to cut it. The crab cakes were great to start with along with the caesar salad. I ordered the blackened seabass which was great with a side of scallops the scallops werent my favorite. The presentation of everything was beautiful. For dessert we tried the peach cobbler it wasnt bad but not the best ive ever had. Overall an amazing experience great food and even better service. I'll be back.

The food was excellent, some of the best Calamari I've ever had and the risotto was delicious. The drinks were very well made. The staff was very helpful and the ambiance feels unique with relaxing green/blue tones. Next time I am in Danville, I will hit this place up.

Noise level at dinner?

The restaurant is big enough and compartmentalized extremely well to give you the noise level that you desire. I've been there for family dinners and on dates: quieter area for family dinners and slightly chatty for dates!…

Does tides still have the shared dinner for $40? Is there a time restriction?

Yes we do everyday but Fri/Sat. Hope to see you soon!

How is the happy hour?

Their happy hour is awesome!

They were a decent size and very tasty. Wine and beer selections for happy hour were very fair. The server was outstanding and the manager came over a couple of times to check on us. Very impressive. We sat outside and in spite of being a "hot" day it was very comfortable. The hostess selected an excellent table. All in all, a very nice a relaxing dinner. We will most definitely be back.

I got a reply confirming the reservation however there was no special celebration or anything for the birthday. We weren't even asked are we celebrating anything as is usually the case. But Nothing. Another thing was I mentioned one grandma is a vegetarian and they had almost no veg options. ( we need no added egg options and they also mentioned everything including veggies are fried in Beef Tallow) I do wish they would have taken the time to read our message as I booked the table at least 4 days in advance. We got drinks. Tried the prickly pear margarita cocktail, the pear no-garita mocktail, espresso martini, spiced pear old fashioned but sadly nothing was too delicious. For appetizers we got the cast iron shrimp which was Yummy with capers. And the olives were okay. We also got the roasted artichoke that was good. The kids meal was good too. For the main course we got a pizza it was nice and thin crust. We also tried the Oktoberfest bratwurst which was nice and flavorful. The burger was. Great too and the quesadilla. The best one was the spicy Diablo shrimp. Also Tiramisu was great and tasted very authentic. To end it we got the 20 year Tawny and that was perfect. Ambience was okay but noise was too loud for us. Service was good. Vegetarian options were very limited as they have egg in all their breads and pasta and pizza dough. Overall for the price range I was a little disappointed that they didn't care enough to celebrate my daughter's birthday or to go through our message. I think even the simple chain American restaurants do a better job at birthday celebrations. When you provide a spot to add messages and don't read them people feel ignored.

Four Years Later... A 50/50 Experience, But That Out of Bounds Keeps Me Coming Back…read more My last review of Revel was about four years ago, and it was not a good one. Since then, I've returned more than a dozen times, mostly for Happy Hour and my favorite cocktail Restaurants change, and staff changes frequently. With those changes, the overall experience can change as well. After all of these visits, I would say my experience at Revel has been about 50/50, both with the food and the service. That said, there are definitely things here that keep me coming back. Happy Hour is my favorite. I'm fortunate to be recognized by a few of the servers, and when I'm seated in their section, the experience is always good. The Happy Hour food is generally solid, but my real reason for returning is the Out of Bounds (OOFB) cocktail--a small-batch Old Fashioned that is absolutely worth the trip. On a recent Saturday evening, I decided to order an OOFB and give dinner another try. My dining partner ordered the risotto, and I'm glad they did because this was, without a doubt, the best risotto we've had here to date. It arrived at an appropriate temperature, was a generous portion, beautifully plated, and was a complete flavor bomb. I'm not generally a risotto person, yet I ended up eating half of it! I ordered the mussels after seeing them being served at a neighboring table. I didn't read the description before ordering, which was my mistake. They arrived at the appropriate temperature, were nicely presented, and every mussel was opened. The flavor was good, but there was a level of heat that I personally didn't enjoy. I didn't send them back because, honestly, that was on me for not reading the description or asking about the spice level. If you enjoy a little spicy heat along with saffron, these mussels may be right up your alley. Overall, the food was good, with the risotto definitely being something I would return for. The service, unfortunately, was another story. Our main server was largely absent, so we repeatedly had to ask other servers for assistance. That's frustrating, especially when you're trying to enjoy a Saturday night dinner. I understand that staffing and service can vary, but this was noticeable enough to impact the overall experience. So once again, my Revel experience landed somewhere in that familiar 50/50 category. The food has definite highlights, the OOFB keeps me coming back, and when you get the right server, the experience can be really enjoyable. I just wish the service were more consistently attentive. I feel four stars is a fair overall rating. I'm taking away one star primarily because of the lack of attentiveness from our main server. Revel is definitely a hot spot in Danville, and with that popularity can sometimes come some inconsistency. That said, I would absolutely recommend starting with Happy Hour if you haven't been. It remains my favorite way to enjoy Revel--and that Out of Bounds is still worth the trip!

The service was friendly and super quick--our entire order came out just minutes after ordering via QR code. My favorite item was the Brewery Platter, a beautifully-presented sampler of German-inspired appetizers, including three warm pretzels, candied bacon, bratwurst, crispy potato pancakes, and candied pepitas, along with spicy mustard, curry ketchup, beer cheese, and pickles. My favorite part of this platter was the warm, chewy pretzels eaten along with the thick, creamy beer cheese, but everything was delicious in its own way! Another highlight was the curry ketchup, which had such a unique combination of tomato flavor with spices. For our mains, the Heirloom Tomato Salad came with mixed greens, feta, and heirloom & cherry tomatoes, along with a balsamic dressing. We also added a Wagyu Beef Patty, which was nicely grilled but on the dry side. The Fried Chicken Sandwich came with a breaded chicken breast, citrus slaw, red onion marmalade, and sauce on a soft bun; and the Fried Fish Sandwich was a similar creation but made with beer battered rock cod. The mains were decent though nothing spectacular. Overall, however, this was a nice, casual brewery for its calm, shaded atmosphere and tasty eats.
