Very cool seafood shack on SARASOTA BAY. Good food, good views, good review. I was wandering around Longboat Key one day and found this place across the water next to Cortez bridge. I am always intrigued by "hole in the wall" food joints, especially if they're busy, so I stopped. Tide Tables has a lot of outdoor seating to allow customers to enjoy the view of the water and the Western sky sunsets. It was a little cool and windy that day, so after trying to sit outdoors I moved inside. I got the Blackened Grouper sammich with chips and a bowl of seafood chowder. The fish was tasty and tender, firm and fresh not mushy or rubbery. The chowder was good, but not the best I've ever had. A good meal overall. Tide Tables is shouting distance from 2 fisheries that very likely supply them with fresh catch from the GULF OF MEXICO. They also have their own pier with slips for 7 or 8 boats. The atmosphere is "Florida Beach Bum Fun", the soundtrack is, of course, Jimmy Buffett. Sitting inside close to the kitchen adds to the busy-chaos vibe that works to make this a fun place. If I lived closer, Tide Tables would probably be a regular spot for me. If you're in the area and the weather's nice I recommend giving them a try. read more

It is very organized, you check in and they direct you to an adjacent waiting area/dock with a bar you can get drinks from while you wait, with picnic tables, cash only. The host lets the bartender know when your table is ready. They have lots of high chairs for little ones. MIL and hubby had some outstanding shrimp in their po boy and basket, butterflied and almost tempura like. I enjoyed the grouper plate, lightly blackened. Side of veggies was zucchini broccoli and onions. The tacos were filling, FIL was full and had to give the 3rd away. Conch fritters are worth trying, tasted like how clam chowder would be if it were a hush puppy.. Oh when you pull in to the parking lot there's an attendant that helps you find a spot. Very good lunch in a fun setting on the waterfront. Dry casual atmosphere with a bunch of barstools around the bar and patio tables and chairs for 2 or more. When we arrived we each ordered a beer and decided to enjoy those for a while before ordering. We ordered our second beers and our food when our server checked back in. The food came out pretty quickly. I got the Blackened Covina Sandwich, and my wife got the Shrimp Po'Boy. Sandwiches come with a good sized serving of chips and decent coleslaw. Awesome meal and great service from Jordan at Tide Tables. We had fresh Grouper with grilled vegetables and coleslaw. Everything was on point. My daughter got the chicken fingers and chips. Been wanting to come here for a while and just kept forgetting or not thinking about it when we go somewhere... We finally made a point for hubby's birthday and Im so glad we did! The service is ridiculously good, the view is a nice change of pace and it's so cool to learn a bit about the Cortez Marina history. The mahi tacos are out of this world- it's been almost a week later and I'm craving them. My hubby had the grouper basket - blackened and he said it was also amazing. We weren't huge fans of the fish dip but still ate it all, just wouldn't get again. The key lime pie is better than any I've tried previously and my mouth waters just thinking about it. We can't wait to go back and luckily as locals, it will be very soon and more often! The grouper!!! I got it sautéed, someone else had it fried, and another had it blackened. The blackened isn't too spicy or over done. The fried isn't overpowering so you can still taste the fish, and the sautéed is delicate and nicely done. The fries were delicious, too. Had to review this place again. 5 stars! The food is soo good. We showed up around 5pm on a Sunday and they were already on a wait! It was about a 20 min wait for an inside table. We chilled with a $2 Bud Light draft (you can't beat that price!) on their little patio/dock side area. The dining area inside is very small and you do dine close to your eating companions, however it's all fun in the experience of the place. Our server was a little on the slow side but hey we're on island time! We all had fish tacos some fried and some blackened but we all agreed fried was best - just adds a little extra crisp! But the combo of the Asian sauce, melted cheese, coleslaw and the fish works soo well with the flour tortilla. The tacos came out piping hot, had to even wait a min or two for them to cool slightly along with the French fries topped with what I think is salt and pepper - but very moorish fries. We also tried the Grouper Spread to share to begin with, which came out really quick but again was really nice and fresh and different. Let me just say that from the very second we drove onto the property I knew I was giving a 5 star review. The greeter/parking director was beyond! I felt like I was being greeted at Disney. This place is a perfect lunch spot on a sunny day. A few things that made me arrive at 3 stars. 1: you give your name at the host stand. Then you have to give your name at the drink cart outside and wait over there. We were about 10 feet from the guy calling names. We didn't hear him and he gave someone else our table. Then he said "is there a Nicole here?" And we were like yes that's us. And he just said ok and I had to ask him if our table was ready and that's when he told me he called us before and gave our table away. 2: outdoor drinks at the cart are cash only. Get with the times and get a square or something. You'd make more money and it would be easier for everyone. 3. We were really excited about the conch fritters. They were giant! So big that they didn't cook all the way through. Crispy on the outside, somewhat gooey on the inside. The grouper sandwich was great. We happened to come on a great day, the weather was breezy and we even saw dolphins while dining. The conch fritters were a first time for me. Overall the place was a good stop on the way out of the beach area. It's convenient location catch's the eye as it's towards end of the bridge leaving the beaches. Pros: One of the best cocktail sauce I ever had. The peel and eat shrimp had great seasoning! I was still hungry for more but I ordered a dozen. There was people there to greet you during parking and overall the staff was very friendly! Cons: Had the fish tacos voted best in area.... The mahi-mahi in the fish taco was over cooked and dry. And definitely needed some sauce to give a little taste to the taco. The coleslaw was good. The fries were definitely hot and fresh.
