Rude customer service and we will not be returning. We were enjoying a nice day out and decided to take our daughter in to pick out a birthday gift. She wanted to check out the slimes as they have different themes but she accidentally dropped the slime and the cap came off. The employee came and grabbed it and quickly also said "I'll hold those at the front too" (referring to two small dolls my daughter had brought in that were already her own). I was instantly not happy with her assumption that we were going to try and take these dolls that she assumed were the stores property. We continued to browse the store and my daughter found something else she preferred to use her birthday money and as we went to checkout and told the employee we chose a different item she so rudely said "well this one already broke" (since the plastic wrapper had come off the top of the slime). We told her she just chose a different item and decided to go with that instead of paying $20 for some slime anyways. Her tone was so extremely rude and we could see other shoppers noticing the confrontation which is so embarrassing. I told her this is a kids store clearly they want to look at items. I am so disappointed with the rude way her tone was and in front our little child in a children's toy store. We will never be returning again and on top of that they are lucky anyone gives them business with such high priced toys. read more

My favorite small business toy store! They have unique gifts that I absolutely love for my own kids as well as gifts for others. The owner is so sweet and always helpful. They offer to wrap gifts for you when you check out which is such a nice touch. I drive 20 + minutes just to come to this shop each time I need a special gift. read more

I have been in this adorable toy shop dozens of times over the years, from birthday and holiday gifts to just because I'm in the neighborhood and have always loved seeing all of the fun and unique toys and books they stock! Every gift has been a hit and they have the best MADLIBS, which are always fun and a secretly educational way to engage kids! Today I witnessed the cashier and manager politely and firmly handle a disgruntled patron over wearing a mask and was so impressed with how calmly they handled it, especially as the woman argued with them. A fantastic toy store with great specialty inventory, and loved stopping by to visit. However, I was in search of a few specific toys that they did not carry. I understand they cannot carry all toys out there given their theme, but I feel it may be a bit too specialty, and a lot of customers may walk away disappointed. I was really hoping they had a kids bow and arrow, (more so than the cushion tip) think Woody from Toy Story, or early cowboy. Also a brewing pot for fantasy spells, or more fantasy items, fairies and unicorn, etc. I forget the name of the exact item we were looking for. But I get their niche for antique style toys, and not so many name brands, but being located at the circle they could do real great things for themselves and their customers by sprucing up the inventory to please a few more demographics (or not. lol). I also regrettably share the sentiment of the other reviewers about the service from what I assume to be the owner/operator. The toy store is very much a, you can look, but you can't touch situation. I did get great customer service by the employees when in search for specific items, but was also told to mind my kids and their sticky fingers. I think it goes without saying.. YOU OWN A TOY STORE! (I only assume the person interested in my kids fingers was the owner). Obviously she may forget it's a toy store, intended for kids, and kids are going to touch the items in this wonderful store. This isn't your grandmother's china, its toys. Kids are going to play with them, there's no need to give the side eye and saucy snide comments because my kids are looking or touching the toys in your toy store. Customer service is important! Until recently, I was a regular customer with no prior issues. Incident: I was not given a receipt. I purchased an adjustable ring as a gift, it was put on and it broke in half. I went to let them know and the owner came over and said, "ohh you need a receipt." That's it. She didn't explore any way to resolve the issue only stating "you need a receipt." No customer service what so ever. I told her to keep it. She asked, "do you want to take it and see if you can fix it?" What?! lol no! This used to be my go-to gift shop. This conversation happened as I was making another purchase!! Unfortunately, it was my last at this shop. I have referred several people here that have also made purchases. I can't support a business that lacks customer support especially with their regular customers. read more

But what I really love is that the owner strives to make sure her staff is well trained and knowledgeable about the products, ages they are intended for as well how they are used or played. For starters the store is very nice and has a wide range on unique toys although the old lady with the grey hair maybe a manger not so much my girlfriend and I were looking around for a while and seen these cute little rubber animals we picked out a few and placed them in the store provided bag they give u to hold them in we proceeded to continue to look around when she told us that she would hold them at the front for us we thought ok kinda weird but no big deal as we looked around some more we were continuously followed but this lady watching what seemed like our every move my girlfriend stated she felt very uncomfortable and so did I so we paid for our things and just left but overall this lady needs to be fired seems like we are not the only people experiencing problems with her and the attitude read more

I have shopped at Tiddlywinks since they opened, having purchased gifts approx 12 times. Last time I was there, I had my friends 3 children with me as it was one of their birthdays, I always take them there to pick out their gifts. One of the children, 10 yrs old needed to use the restroom, Tiddlywinks does not allow customers to use their restroom, I was told to go down the street to a restaurant. I told the 2 children, ages 7 & 11 to stay in the store while we run to use the restroom. When I exited the restaurant I saw the 2 children standing outside the store, the told me the 2 ladies in the store told them they had to leave as there was not an adult with them! What responsible adult does that especially in this day and age. Needless to say, I will not be back. (I noticed the 2 employees were not very pleasant to the customers, children seemed to bother them both!) yikes. read more

My friends and I walked into this establishment so excited. The workers were even laughing and smiling at us because they saw how excited we were about everything. We were looking at the slimes and Jellycats specifically because my friends actually wanted to buy some. I started looking around for puzzles to gift my mom for her birthday when the owner (woman in the pink pants see photos) accused my friends and I of taking one of her slimes. She was in our faces asking about a milk bottle slime that we all never saw on the slime shelf. She then said she was watching us and saw one of us grab it but we told her, with all our integrity, that we never even saw it. We were all extremely uncomfortable as minors with this older woman staring us down and accusing us of stealing, basically harassing us. We even asked her if she wanted to look through our purses for the slime because we had nothing to hide. She said no but continued to watch us with hostility. This toy store which was initially a fun environment turned out to be an unpleasant experience. Even after being accused, my friends were still debating whether or not they should buy their slime and Jellycats but I told them to put them down because it felt wrong to support her business. We then left the store and felt so confused because we came in with such happy attitudes and left feeling very uncomfortable. There were also lots of other groups in there and she never questioned them which made us feel targeted and embarrassed. read more

A friend and I stopped by this charming little toy shop last weekend to pick up some toys for our kiddos for Christmas and Hanukkah. They have a fabulous selection of goodies for kids of all ages. We picked up books (great Christmas and Hanukkah stories- loved that they carry both!), and different types of toys from educational, cute/cuddly, and retro. They wrapped our gifts, too! (They had the cutest wrapping paper for both holidays & they even added the cutest little the bows! Ah- I love. *they def. don't do this at Nordstrom*.) The service staff was kind, patient, and knowledgeable as well. Anyhow, This toy shop is truly one of a kind, and I will definitely be back. read more

Visiting this store for the first time was excellent. One can find some pretty cool/classic/fun toys, books, games, and other baby and kid friendly items. Some of their merchandise seem a bit overpriced, but you get the old school toy store experience while here, and I guess that can come at a cost. All the employees working during my visit were very friendly and interactive with my daughter. They pulled down different toys for her to check out, and made some great recommendations. We left with the cutest little hippo stuffed animal backpack that my daughter adores. Towards all the complaints of the active employees - thieves (including "innocent" kids) tend to take advantage of these small stores and it hurts the business. They dont have security guards/loss prevention/overpriced security systems - so they go the simple route and just maintain a watchful eye. And when kids are involved, safety is a must. Some of the complaints on here sound like parents with misbehaving children that dont want to admit to their poor parenting skills and would rather blame other people. It is in fact a toy store, but if your child cant reach the higher up items, or is grabbing things and just tossing them elsewhere, that's pretty foolish on the parents part to blame the store for wanting to keep some safe organization. read more

We have been coming here for years and always have a great experience. This shop is one of the few great toy shops left in Orange County and for those aged 0 - 7 this is exactly where they need to be. The customer service is top notch as are the quality of the toys. They have a great unicorn selection of toys and a huge Brio selection as well. Their bins on the right side of fun toys and candy are not to be missed, something for everyone. A favorite find today was a bucket of dice sold individually since we lost one ours last year. I have been coming to this store for years and it is great. The best part is that you find toys here that you can't find at other toy stores. Also, the owner is awesome. Ask for her help in picking out a toy and she will ask you questions related to the child and then make various suggestions. All the children I have given toys from here have loved them. I don't understand the bad reviews but it seems they were posted by someone who broke the toy and wanted their money back; a mother that can't control her bratty kids; and a cheap woman who complains about paying for an extra bag. Where was Tiddlywinks when I was a kid? Located in old town Orange, Tiddlywinks in not your average toy store. You won't find any commercial junk toys here. So if you're looking for a Barbie Doll or some GI Joe action figures you'll need to head over to Toy R Us or Target. If you're looking for a one of a kind, educational or retro toy or board game then Tiddlywinks is the place for you. My wife and I came here recently to buy my soon to be six year old niece a B-day gift. There were many awesome gifts to choose from. In the end we bought her a cute cupcake baking set, complete with a tiny cupcake pan, wrappers and even a small frosting decorating tool. The set came in an cool looking retro tin box. We also bought here a few odds and ends gifts like scratch and sniff stickers, some head bands all wrapped together in the shape of a lollipop and a little stationary set. Besides the great gifts, what sets this place apart is the service. The girls who were working the day we visited the shop were all extremely friendly and informative. Because this place isn't too big, if you have any questions all you have to do is simply look in an employee's direction and they'll be by your side in seconds, ready to answer any questions you may have. Have you ever tried to get help at Toys R Us? It's a headache. The employees at Tiddlywinks actually value their customers, unlike the big chain toy stores. They'll even wrap your gifts for you if you'd like, which is cool. If you're looking for a unique gift then look no further than Tiddlywinks. I wish this place was around when I was a kid. This is the sort of local business that makes you wish that you had shopped at a chain store like Nordstrom. That is unfortunate because I always like to patronize local businesses. However l, the experience here was horrific. Attempted to exchange (not even a return!) two clothing items that our daughter received as gifts. The clerk (may have been the owner?) was extremely rude and condescending and informed me that "we are not taking returns or doing exchanges right now." When I pressed her she said that my only alternative was to "donate" or "regift" the items. Really? Buyer beware on this place. I will never return since they made it seem like I was doing them a favor by shopping there. Best to take your business elsewhere. read more

Way over priced with pretentious customer service. I would feel more comfortable and safe if they wore two face masks as they kept touching their's in their face and would then touch the children's toys. May we request that they wear two? Or maybe at least a face shield to keep the employees from touching their bacteria masks and then introducing their germs all over our children's toys? Wonderful experience at the store today! We walked in today and were immediately greeted by a respectful young lady who asked if my 3 year old had a mask. (Of course we did, just so distracted actually forgot to put it on) . The store was also regulating number of customers in the store, all the stuffed animals were bagged and hand sanitizer was right at the front door. None of this made any difference to the kids who were inside. As a physician mom, please keep up the good work without hesitation! An amazing variety of high quality toys with a huge variety for all ages. This was a great opportunity to actually gauge what peaked their interests, rather than just guess-and-click to buy more plastic junk form online retailers. We walked away with 3 great toys all for less than $25. Great way to also support a local small business! We went down the block for an outdoor lunch, fountain play at Chapman and ice-cream afterwards. The 1.5 and 3.5 year old ate it up! Great Sunday was had by all. read more
