Lived in Salinas for many years but never stopped to check this place out. Someone recommended it while I was in town recently so we decided to try it out. Everyone really enjoyed their food and I'm sure we will be back again. The taquitos, enchiladas, and quesadillas we enjoyed were all great. (Note they don't have green enchilada sauce) I take away one star mainly because of their prices. A single al la carte enchilada is basically $5, which is pretty steep for Mexican food. read more

Ticos Tacos - Salsa and Pico - Mexican Near Me - Salinas, California

The food was okay. Not the worst, but pricey for the quality. The salsa had a refrigerator taste. But the ADITUTTE from the cashier (she had glasses) was bad! She was impatient and rude. Made me feel like hurry up and order... read more

Ordered wet super burrito. The size is so small that I wouldn't even call it a regular burrito. Everything is over cooked. Salsa is so so. I cannot believe people leave 5 star reviews to this place. I believe it is pretty overpriced too for Salinas city in my opinion. read more

The food was okay but not fully worth the price. For dine in they serve in to go boxes which was odd.

Tico's is our go to place on Saturday for the best shrimp tacos with a side of the most delicious refried beans . Our favorite restaurant in Salinas for over twenty years. Service is first class and we feel we have become like family with Claudia, Maria, Natalie, and Carmen read more

Location: Ticos tacos is located on the south side of salinas. Covid-19: This place requieres you to wear a mask while ordering your food. They opened seatings and are able to eat inside. When I visited there was only 2 families and they were social distancing. They had sanitizers throughout the cashier sections and the salsa bar. The cashier and cooks were wearing their masks properly. Food: Whenever I come to ticos tacos I always order the carne azada burrito. It has beans, guacamole, onions, and carne asada. The combination between the ingredients makes it taste delicious. This place feels as if I'm eating real Mexican food. Portions: This burrito is somewhat small, I would prefer for it to be bigger. However, I enjoy the taste and it's only $5. They serve you a good amount of meat and can ask for extra salsa. Customer service: Customer service is good! The ladies are nice and they're quick. Wait times are usually 2-4 minutes. read more

Ticos Tacos - Carne azada burrito - Mexican Near Me - Salinas, California

My whole family here in salinas patronize Tico Taco, we order beans, rice and cheese burritos. Personally, there hard shelled chicken tacos or, chile relleno. It's so fast to call your order in, and by the time you've arrived from home, the order is ready. A tip( as you walk in on the right side of the counter is their salsa bar, if it's freed up fix your salsa and then pay. They'll pack up your order. Both the beans and rice are like what I grew up with. While I like tacos from the other place, Tico Tacos are light years ahead of restaurants for flavor, services, ambience and food. read more

Just not what it use to be, while some items remain the same in taste unfortunately portion and pricing do not. Money grab style menu..just ridiculous. No longer a go to just a here n there. Hit or miss on the food..inconsistent read more

I ordered a burrito and I asked for a cup of water and the lady told me their machine was broken and I would have to buy a bottle for $2. So I did. Ten minutes later a friendly lady they knew came in and they took her order. She asked for a cup of water and they gave it to her. The machine wasnt broken. They didnt know I was listening. When I looked over after they could tell I saw. My first time here. I wont go back. read more

The food here was not worth it, the service was ok a little rude ,the ambiance was not all that good.

Rice tasted old and salad lettuce was brown ewww! I used to love this place back in the day but the food is not what ir used to be read more

So the food is really like a 2 star but hear me out. If you go in there thinking it's like a tacobell with better ingredients and real meat with better salsa, or a Dennys that only has Mexican inspired food...then you'll think it's not bad....you'll spend the same amount at tacobell but have mystery meat. The rice and beans aren't great but one of their green salsas actually tastes good and had a little kick to it. Tostada was fair..enchiladas are far from amazing but they were decent since it has real cheese and meat. Tacos were basic but the lady that took my order was super nice. If I was judging the food, a 2..but the business this day..a 4. Cant go to McDonald's and expect a 5 star meal read more

Food was really really good. Super busy place. Ladies were very nice and friendly. Place was clean. Would come back again

So expensive now, the quality of the beans last time was off. Used to come here at least once a week or more, but the prices have gone up but the portions are smaller. read more

The best Mexican food ever! Everything is fresh and delicious consistently! My favorite is the crispy beef tacos.

First time trying the place. Ordered a super burrito, that thing was falling apart, it looked like they didn't even try to wrap it properly. They gave me chopped up lettuce and a tomato slice on the side. It wasn't worth the $12.50. Service was so-so. Also what's up with the to-go boxes in half instead of actual plates... Anyway the place is more like an expensive taco bell. If you want Mexican food, make sure Mexican people are eating there. You'll know right away it's good and worth it. read more

We are not going back there anymore! They freaked out about the salsa we wanted to take with our food. They gave us a very hard time about it. They made us pay $1 for each scoop of the sauce. We ended up paying $4 just for the sauce. They are nonsense and ridiculous. They have lost us as customers forever!!!! read more

This is one of those neighborhood places that if you grew up eating there, you love it. My faves is the enchilada taquito combo, chili verde burrito all meat as in just chili verde wrapped up in a tortilla, bean and cheese burrito, nachos which is a ton of cheese on freshly made tortilla chips and their help yourself salsa bar. Thanks to Tico's Tacos, I love having a lot of sauce with my enchilada, they don't skimp on the sauce and every time I have it, it tastes like home. A local favorite is their taco salad in a tostada bowl with thousand island dressing, they make at least 100 of these a day and they're HUGE! We were passing through Salinas on our way back from LA and decided to do a pit stop, the hubbs loved their enchiladas and rice - whew! So much so we took a plate to go. It is on the pricier side, combos are about $13 so for a little more you can go to any one of the sitdown Mexican restaurants available in Salinas, however for the convenience, as in to go, its great. read more

The food is really good. The staff is very rude. Service was quick but really the rude staff will stop me from going back

The best! I don't need to say anything else. Had a friend in LA he told me here was at Ticos I said bring me back a dozen!!!! He flew into Austin that night and I had tacos for breakfast from LA's finest!!! read more

The person at the cash register was so rude I stopped ordering halfway through and walked out. Not sure what her issue was . As soon as I walked in, she asked me if I was ready to order and I said I just needed a few minutes because this is my first time here I could tell she was for some reason obviously bothered by that and her attitude only got worse. I walked out. read more

Our kids grew up going to Tico's tacos in San Jose. Now that it is closed, we have long wanted to try the Tico's tacos in Salinas. It is hard to find but with the help of Yelp and Google Maps we got there! The food was good but pricier than San Jose. The service was both excellent and friendly. The Ambiance is a little more upscale then the older San Jose location. Definitely a place to visit again, but try ordering the ala carte instead of the whole meal. read more

The food is good and the wait time is less than 5 minutes. The only I had was my Mom being slow as always (true statement). Even though I'm pro Chinese cuisine and anti Mexican cuisine, it's still good Interesting fact, their table near the front door is so small, it looks like it's for kids party. read more

It was a quiet night in May, the kind of one that is pretty silent. All of a sudden, a violent thunderstorm erupted from a small neighborhood, vibrating the walls of every home and terrorizing the dogs and cats. The ground began to shake as a terrifying thick, green smoke encapsulated the poor neighbors attempting to run from its killing stench. When the smoke started to burn and turn into an acidic quality, screams sounded from everywhere. The night turned from a peaceful twilight to a glimpse into hell. And all the perpetrator could think about was the greasy bean and cheese burrito they had ordered from Tico's. read more

I'm 54 and been eating here since I was a kid. If I was sick as a kid, the only way my mom could get me to eat was to drive here (15 miles from home) and get me one of their amazing chili Colorado . The quality has been the same, flavors are always consistent, and the place is always immaculate for over 40 years. Most Mexican restaurants have good rice or good beans but it's rare to find both at one place. At Ticos they're both ALWAYS delicious!!! Ticos Hack: ask them not to wrap your burrito in foil. They get slimy from the moisture, but if they just put them in a the paper sleeve, THEY'RE AMAZING! read more

Was on this side of town to get my sons hair cut and decided to stop in real fast. They cashiers are rude as hell. Those ladies are the face of the business and their attitudes are some how MORE gross than the food. I ordered a enchilada plate, a taco, and a drink. 21 dollars. Whatever I'm hungry. I know a lot of people on here taking about the authenticity of the food but that wouldn't matter to me if the food was good. It's not though. If you want good Mexican food their are plenty in Salinas with better service and prices. read more

I want to start off by saying that I am not in this area that often, I have ate at many locations on the east side which I have to be extremely good. I figured this place should be just as good. I was wrong! I paid $12.50 for a plate of one enchilada and one sope both chicken....bland meat, even the enchilada sauce was horrible straight out of a can (which is ok) but don't get the sauce at a discount store..... bad bad bad. Then we ate the food there and we were served in a half cut to go container. WTF! Lastly this is a Mexican restaurant in Salinas, not freaking Apple Bee's I asked for chips and they charged us $2.00.....haha yeah two bucks for some chips wow. I would say drive to the east side to eat or....go next door to Burger King. Food was not good at all. read more

Quick service and good food at a great location. It's hard to drive by without stopping can't forget to hit the salsa bar! Soo good.

I am super disappointed. I have been going to tico taco all my life and used to love it. I bought some Chile verde burritos this week. The tortillas were soooo soggy and sticky. Almost raw. The meat was full of fat !!!!! They are expensive and you would think they could at least do a better job!!!!!! read more

Food is great! Beans are the best. Chile verde burrito was good. The only complaint I have is I ordered a shredded beef enchilada and got a cheese one, which was good.... very cheesey read more

Sadly, on Taco Tuesday no less, they shorted me a taco out of an order of fourteen! This was an online order, so they had a detailed list of exactly what was ordered, and, apparently, didn't bother to verify the order when packaging it up. Nor call me when they had an extra taco just "hanging around." And I had the audacity of tipping them! Next Taco Tuesday, Tico's Tacos will not be in the running... read more

Great variety of Taco's for Carry Out or dining in. Was super busy Sunday evening, but my order was quickly completed and I was on my way. Other menu items looked really good, were reasonably priced, and by the number of people inside, seems like there are a lot of regular customers. I will DEFINITELY be back again.... maybe even this week! read more
