Not the very friendliest crew in town. But that might be because of language differences. If you're OK with a Taco Bell type interaction, you'll be fine. Food is very good. I've only had the burritos both Carne Asada, and California style. Both were very tasty. Don't forget the hot sauce is on the way to your table. You're gonna need them. My family has been coming here off and on for over 20 years. We just recently moved back to the area and my daughter and I went for a late lunch. A few cosmetic changes in the dining area and I remember the warm lady who politely took our order. I'm not sure when the restaurant changed hands, but we're pretty broken hearted at how awful the food was. The have always been so consistent with their food. The rice even color has changed and was almost inedible... yellow? The beans tasted old, extremely salty and like canned refried beans. The enchilada sauce used to be wonderful, and was very thick and bitter and the enchiladas were drowned in cheese. We didn't get 10 bites into everything before we threw it away and left. I go for the beans in a tostada shell and chips and salsa. Best in town! The cheese enchiladas with rice and beans. Chili verde. The salsa bar is always stocked. This place is kept clean. When we spend $40.00 on Mexican food ( YES, $40.00!!!) We kind of expected something well, GOOD. Ordered take out and will admit the portions were large BUT nothing had any flavor. We had chicken enchiladas and the chicken was not marinated or even seasoned at all. Just boiled white meat. Not even salted. Lots of sauce on top but again....no flavor. Same with the beans. Next we come to the rice. Every Mexican restaurant we've ever been to the rice was always orange and had a distinctive flavor that you knew you were eating Mexican food. Not so at this place. Rice was pale yellow. You heard that right..YELLOW. Do I have to mention the flavor? Of course not since there wasn't any ! If you think I'm exaggerating I'd suggest you try the place yourself but I won't do that since I wouldn't want to subject anyone to this overpriced temple of blandness! Ticos is a Fast Casual spot with pretty good Mexican food. The menu is huge, the food comes out fast and hot and they include breakfast. They have ground beef in addition to the other kind of beef, if you prefer it and a few vegetarian options like Chile Relleno and Veggie Burritos. They feature nachos for a fun night of football watching. Their portions are enough for two meals, at least. Their extensive a la carte menu means you don't have to waste any food. They have add-ons, including a high-quality sour cream, ie; not watered down like at other spots. Large list of beverages, including milk and flavored milk, apple & orange juice rather than the usual soda fountain or iced tea. I've just discovered that you can buy the Taco Salad Shells alone so you can fill it with your own salad! Cool to know. Or how about taking some Mole sauce home and using your own meat for it? What more can you ask for when you're in a hurry and need a "real" meal? They are a solid three stars. But when you are an unpretentious, affordable spot, it's just what busy families need to get a quick meal on the table, so three stars hits the spot. Drawbacks: Uses too much cheese even if you ask not to (lol), Chips are a paid item only, Salsa is not to my personal taste. This is their favorite so we picked up enchiladas, tacos, a Chile relleno, a tostada and a taco salad. 7 of us are for about $150. Kinda sucks they don't include chips and salsa, but there was a complimentary salsa bar. The salsas were pretty good. The beans were good too! Everyone seemed to had loved what they ordered. I had the taco salad, I didn't expect much, but it was good. This place is comparable to a Pepe's in Las Vegas. I had been having such a busy day & brought my son for a quick lunch , my 7 years old child wanted a chorizo and egg torta, they have chorizo & egg burritos. But they also sell tortas . My son didn't want a burrito so I asked if they could make a chorizo and egg torta as they have all the ingredient to do so. They denied the request, so I said okay I will buy an egg and chorizo burrito and purchase a torta bread on the side. As we are from out of town and not too familiar with the surrounding area I didn't have time to go look for other places. All I wanted to do was buy a piece of bread aside from the burrito. That way everyone is happy , they don't have to make a special request order and I could assemble my son his lunch by myself I was willing to pay anything for it. They denied selling me the food because they didn't like that I had an alternative idea and solution to the problem. I don't know who owns or manages this place but that is extremely terrible customer service they acted like I was asking for free food . Please don't go here they deny food to a child . When I was willing to pay anything for it . Please have the workers attend some type of hospitality course or something similar because their faces and attitudes were extremely miserable. My go to is the Combination burrito. It has Meat, beans & cheese. That's it. I get the shredded beef. For $6.50 it's a good price for a good size burrito. They're known for their beans which are some of my favorite. The fresh salsa bar is good. You don't see those very often anymore. All the salsas are good but the green one is my favorite because it's the spiciest. Their "thousand island" dressing at the salsa bar is good too. Another update, two years in the mists of the Covid pandemic and all things in a state of flux, service at Ticos was wavering. In my opinion. Not so much now. Ticos is back to there reliable service both in house and takeout. Serving the same good food as always. The prices have risen but what hasn't what's more important to me is the consistency of the recipes and tastes. I know what I'm getting when I order...every time. Also served with a small side of guacamole. I was pretty full after the taquitos which held the crisp through the drive over to the house. I somehow managed to devour the sope which was also delicious! The sope was crispy on the outside but still moist and perfect texture overall. The combination of beans, cheese, and meat was the perfect balance. The burrito was a normal size and perfect for my guy. Not too big and he was able to eat it in one sitting without needing to save any for leftovers, and the price point was perfectly matched to food quality and portions. This place is no frills, inside was clean but old decor. The menu is posted when you walk-in up high between old pictures and a newer text menu. When I visited there was only 2 families and they were social distancing. They had sanitizers throughout the cashier sections and the salsa bar. The cashier and cooks were wearing their masks properly. Food: Whenever I come to ticos tacos I always order the carne azada burrito. It has beans, guacamole, onions, and carne asada. The combination between the ingredients makes it taste delicious. This place feels as if I'm eating real Mexican food. Portions: This burrito is somewhat small, I would prefer for it to be bigger.
