I ate Don Beto's food as it was catered for an event I was attending and I was really looking forward to trying it after riding by for years. In a town full of really good Mexican food I'm sad to say Don Beto is just average. It wasn't bad, the ingredients were fresh, the flavor was good, it was just sort of bland. In will go to the store and try but, for now, I think there's better food to be found. read more

Gave this spot multiple times to make an impression because everyone in town gasses it up. Tried the asada, carnitas, chorizo, and chile verde and it was all flavorless. Salsa verde is okay, red salsa is weird and not the traditional flavor I'm used to. The disappointing thing about this spot is everything is good except for the meat, would not recommend this spot burrito king is way better if you're in south salinas. read more

The food was old! I ordered a cali pastor burrito. The fries had to be at least 4 days old! Stale and COLD. The pastor meat had no flavor. Did I mention the FLIES met me at the door! That should have been my " sign" to turn around. Will I eat here again.... PROBABLY NOT! read more

Trying for the first time the newest taco shop in my neighborhood just 4 blocks away. The appearance is modern and clean. It has some seating out front for those beautiful Salinas days and six or seven more inside. The menu is smart and well laid out, easy to navigate. Not a bunch of stuff just the basics, tacos of course, burritos and bowls. Service was good enough and the turn around time was about right. Now the food... competition for the public's taco money is fierce in Salinas. Restaurant's, trucks and shops, there's tacos everywhere. The rice & beans were good, the Chile verde tacos / plate was gross so salty , but the handmade tortillas were thick kinda hard to pass, it was like a 5/10, I wouldn't come here again just for the asada fries but me and my party got sick very quick eating right after we felt like a stomach bug, I'm not sure if it's food posioning but it was very bad. read more

Ohh...what to say? Number 1? Cleanliness, this place keeps spotless but doesn't skimp on the classic taco flavor. I chose 3 carne asada street tacos and they were all consistently exceptional. Each was filled with a substantial amount of succulent beef pieces with onion, cilantro, and mild salsa, side of lemon to boot. Self seating but a wide selection of tacos, burritos, bowls, fries, and nachos etc. Pleasing place to get your feet wet with Mexican fare. Nosh On Yelpers! From the taco truck to brick and mortar Tacos Don Beto is definitely deserving of the five stars! We've been meeting the try out this place for a while, and yesterday afternoon me and My Hubby on our lunch breaks decided to meet up and try it out. Usually when it was a very popular taco truck gets its own standalone it rarely hits the same mark as the original however that is not the case for this location. They were amazing, super friendly food was delicious, generous portions and the whole staff was very inviting and super nice everything inside was ridiculously clean which is so appreciated! I had ordered a burrito bowl originally and then when I had realized they had homemade tortillas I asked him to switch however they had already made the bowl but they were gracious enough to give me a tortilla on the side to do my thing with. My Hubby had the surf and turf burrito with carne Asada and shrimp it was absolutely delicious. He even said out loud this might be our new favorite place. I was talking to the young lady before the hubby arrived and we were talking about how everything is made it in-house by hand including their Mexican wedding cookies which were already sold out- sad for me but good for them! I figured they must be delicious and I can't wait to try them. Food: The quality of the meat is really good! I've gone to other restaurants and you can tell the meat isn't fresh. They also added green sauce on the side. The surf carne asada fries are delicious, they also come with shrimp on top! The fish tacos were also good, but unfortunately they weren't my favorite. (They were a bit too crunchy and fried) however, I'm incredibly picky! So you might like them. I'd definitely recommend trying the fries and tacos! 5/5 Cleanliness: This place is clean! I ordered a taco salad to be delivered and the main part that I was looking forward to which was the cilantro lime dressing to go on top was not in the bag nor on the salad!! Very frustrating because it needs the dressing for the flavor. It's not that hard to put it in the bag. First time getting something from here and I'm very disappointed. I also paid extra to have it delivered from a delivery service, which I never do. read more

Went to get takeout from here a couple nights ago with my neighbors. I had a carnitas bowl, one friend had a chili verdes burrito and my other friend had shrimp tacos. Food was great. Got salsas on the side -- green was mild the red was hot and burned good!! The restaurant was really clean and colorful but felt sterile. Lots of drink's including a couple aqua frescas and horchata. There is some seating available, and a restroom indoors. You are also provided with chips and salsa while you wait for your food. We tried their tacos de asada, asada fries, and an Horchata. I was unfortunately not a fan of their tacos de asada, but enjoyed the rest of the food and drink. My boyfriend, however, loved the tacos. The salsa is super spicy, which I love. The staff was friendly, but it did take a while for our food to come out. I definitely think this place is worth a try.
