Large Filet 10-13 ounces w Baked Potato- à la carte
    Kelly C.

Overall 3.75 Stars After a long flight, I was ravish for some food, so we stopped at Tico's Steakhouse for dinner. This was the first time we ate here. Because it was a Saturday night at 7:30, the wait was an hour for a table however they were able to seat us in the bar section with about 5 tables ranging from 4-8 seats per table and several bar stools. We were fortunate to be seated at a table in the bar area. The building and atmosphere is more cabin rustic feeling with lots of memorabilia hanging on the walls and the light was very dim in the bar section. We had a small candle on a white table cloth table for our mood lighting. A little bit harder to view the menu so bring your phone for additional lighting. The open section of the steakhouse has more lighting. Also, the main area is quite large which can seat many people at a time however it will be quite loud when busy. Our server had double duty as the Main Bartender and Server for all clients in the bar area. With that said, our service was somewhat spotty. Had to be patient when ordering, receiving drinks and the entrees being served. Our drinks, wine and water, was served 15 minutes, bread - 5 minutes afterwards, salad 10 minutes, then the entrees were close to 45 minutes after the salad was served. She was very busy with one additional helper with all the tables in the bar area. Server: 3.75 Stars - both she and the other person moved quickly and efficiently but with having only two people in the busy area they did the best they could. With that said, they were pleasant, friendly and professional. Food: 4 Stars All the food is à la carte. We ordered the Filet Mignon (12-14 ounce), one side of baked potato and garden salad for our meals. 4 Stars : the salad was a mixed garden salad and was plentiful, served with blue cheese - on the side". 3.5 Stars: Though the baked potato was large and shareable, it lacked flavor to it. It was topped with bacon bits, shredded cheese and sour cream automatically. So if you don't like all the toppings, make sure the server is aware. I believe a TRUE baked Potato is potato without Tin Foil. To me, if it is wrapped then the potato is steamed in the tinfoil. What do you think? 4.25 Stars: Filet Mignon The tenderloin was large, charred, and tender. It has a little bit of salt and pepper as the seasoning. You can truly taste the meat. We enjoyed it. 3 Stars: Price - The Steakhouse is pricey for the meal. Especially with the items as an à la carte option. Our meal was close to $200, not including the tip for 2 people. So, if we come again, I personally would come for special occasions such as winning the "lotto", anniversary or job promotion.

This place is so cool... go here. Have a steak and a drink at the bar. It'll be something you remember, and can't wait to come back. In the end... that's what it's all about.

I enjoyed one of the best steaks of my entire life! I don't know why this place currently has only 3.5 stars! I was by myself traveling for business, so I sat at the bar. The waitresses took great care of me. I talked to a local attorney beside me and he said a lot of legislators and lobbyists eat there. I know why! I will be back the next time I'm in Jackson.

This place fucks hard. PRIME steaks. Good people. Fantastic food. Get the onion rings. Fantastic bar. Become a regular and you have made it. Came for a business happy hour and met the DA for MS. Great guy. Do yourself a favor and d don't read the negative reviews. This place is better and cooler than Shapley's. Jackson's finest steakhouse is Tico's. Get the large filet and sides. Sit at the bar.

    "Sautéed" Mushrooms

*Oxford Location* This was my worst dining experience ever. This review could be taken as extremely picky or having unrealistic expectations - it is truly insane how horrible the food was, especially for the price. My husband's birthday was this past Sunday - so we went to Ticos with a good friend to celebrate. It took about 10 minutes at the hostess stand to be greeted. Once we were seated, we asked for a cocktail menu - they don't have one, but they do have wine list. We started with the cheese sticks. It took around 45 minutes to get them. They were pale, cold, and tasted very unremarkable. Like the ones you would get in a high school cafeteria. I order the blackened pork chop with sautéed mushrooms. My husband ordered the large filet cooked medium with a loaded baked potato. Our friend ordered the blackened pork chop with broccoli au gratin. A picture of my pork chop and mushrooms are attached, it came undercooked - it had to be sent back. The "sauteed" mushrooms were like a soup - basically boiled? They were not good. My husband's steak came back rare. He had to send it back. His potato was off - he had 3 bites of it. Our friend's pork chop was also undercooked and had to send it back. The broccoli au gratin was the worst smelling and tasting thing I've ever tried in my whole life. She sent it back without a replacement. We were sent complimentary desserts, very very sweet gesture by our waitress, but they were mediocre and tasted like the pies you can buy at the freezer section of a grocery store. Our waitress was very kind and gave us 10% off of our tab. I will never be back, it makes me sick how much we spent for such a disappointing experience which was meant to be a celebration.

Came here for dinner. The large filet was definitely excellent and the hero of the night--cooked to a perfect medium rare. Our server was busy but she was attentive, friendly and speedy with our drinks orders/food. The sides, in my opinion were a little lackluster for a steakhouse and had the quality of something you'd get at chain restaurant. Overall, it was a fine restaurant and I was not disappointed with my steak.

Ticos is a great steakhouse. We ordered filets and were pleasantly surprised that they were large filets. I have been to other steakhouses and the filet size have been dramatically cut back.... My favorite are the crab claws. Get them and you won't be disappointed. Be aware that you need deep pockets to eat here!

The picture speaks for itself. Best lobster tail I've had thus far.

Great service. Ambiance was just what I needed. The food was delicious. The lobster tail is a try!

Our stuffed mushrooms were over stuffed. Our stakes had very little flavor. Our bread pudding was cold. Not a place we want to go back.

The server we got was very knowledgeable about the menu and accommodated our request to be on separate checks which was great. I ended up getting an 8oz filet cooked medium rare which was cooked to perfection. The steak was absolutely delicious. Mushrooms were great with dusting wine and pepper taste which I enjoyed. Scalloped potatoes were so good as well. I don't think there was anyone in our party who thought the experience was not 5/5! If you're looking for a great upscale steak house this is the place to visit.

The ambiance is what you would expect. Low lighting, white tablecloths and excellent service. I hate I can't remember my server's name because he should teach a master class on providing service. I ordered the salmon, cooked medium, with a side of asaparus. My mom and sister both got the 8oz filet. Mom got her's cooked medium with mushrooms, while my sister did medium rare with a side of housecut fries. All entrees come with a salad, and we all three picked the vinaigrette dressing. Salad and dressing needed salt. I hate I didn't go with another dressing because I would have really enjoyed my salad more. My salmon and asparagus were very tasty. My mom said her steak melted in her mouth. The side of fries were huge so we all ate some. They were really good! Momma and my sister got the bread pudding and I went with the chocolate chess pie for dessert. You can tell they make the desserts as they were soooo good! It was my first time dinning there but won't be my last.

But this one was just right for me. I feel like you could show up after a round of golf and it would be cool. That's as long as you don't have swamp ass, LOL. Inside is well lit and airy. There are lots of windows and it's quite comfortable. Our server was great. So good in fact, I have no recollection of them or the service. That's strange. Nothing. I can't even remember if they were male or female?!?!? I do however remember my food. We started with crab claws. They were darn tasty. Nice lemon flavor to the batter and the sauces were great accompaniments. Would recommend! For dinner I chose the Prime Chile Rubbed Flank Steak. Gosh damn was it good! Perfectly cooked, seared well, and still medium rare inside! The sauce was fantastic as well and the fresh cut Parmesan fries were a stupendous addition to the dish! I loved the whole damn thing!!! The spinach was quite unique and very good. It was like crispy sautéed of something. I must have made some noises that my dinner companion had to know about because he ate a couple slices of my steak after I was done. Definitely a good place for lunch…read more Keeping in the theme with wanting to eat southern food while in the south, it was redfish once again. Just like yesterday's redfish, this one was different but absolutely fantastic. A wide variety of lunch options, as well as some daily lunch specials made the choice what to eat a tough one. Leaning towards what they're known for, redfish, I gave this place a try as well. This was a thick piece of redfish which included lump crab on top with a cream sauce, smothered all over it. The meal included garlic mashed potatoes, as well as string green beans. The green beans weren't super plentiful, but they were good. The mashed potatoes were a little on the cool temperature side, but they were also very good. You don't get much lump crab, but that too was good. One of the folks got a sandwich with their special chips. I had to try the chips, must say they were excellent. The server for as busy as she was, was terrific.
