They do a very poor job of communicating with customers. Also, they make no effort to proactively address issues that arise. Finally, they know little or nothing about organic fertilizers. Earlier in the year, we received a mailer asking us to consider using Emerald Acres for organic fertilizer for our lawn. I contacted them and the owner came to our home and left a proposal. He suggested that in addition to the organic fertilizer we add pre-emergent crabgrass control and grub control. I asked them to add these services to the proposal because we wanted to pre-pay for the season to receive the 10% discount. I sent several emails and called the office every week to try to get an updated proposal. It took more than 5 weeks to finally get the proposal correctly updated. We sent in our payment with the updated proposal. Several weeks later, we noticed that no one had been to our house to fertilize the lawn. I called Emerald Acres and was informed that they received the contract and payment, but it was now too late to do the fertilizer and pre-emergent crabgrass application. I told them that I had already paid for the service and asked if they were planning on telling me that they weren't going to do the work they had been paid to do. They told me they were probably busy and provided no explanation. I asked for a refund for the missed application. I also asked for the owner to call me to provide me with an explanation, but never received a call or email. I sent several emails to the owner and the staff at Emerald acres to follow up on the contract and received no response. The staff rarely answer the telephone. I was unable to reach anyone, so I drove to their office to speak with them directly. The owner wasn't in the office and I spoke with the office manager. Although they were aware I had been trying to contact them, they never responded. I was also told that the owner doesn't use email. I don't think they know what they are doing and we cancelled the lawn aeration and overseeding. I'm not sure how this company stays in business.

He showed up for one day of work, during which his machine broke down, and he completed only about 25% of the removal job(have not started on stump grinding yet). He then pressured my elderly parents, who are both in their eighties and suffer from Alzheimer's, into paying him $2,000. They are not in a condition to handle high-pressure situations, and I was not present at the time. Given that $2,000 significantly exceeded the value of the work completed, the contractor happily chose not to return and instead began making a series of excuses. At one point, he offered to refund $1,000, but when I tried to collect the refund, he changed his story again saying he will come back to finish but stopped responding to me. It appears he does not keep his words, lie consistently, and is willing to take advantage of vulnerable people whenever the opportunity arises.

The tree was quickly removed but it was a 3 star maybe 3.5 star experience because of the additional work needed to coordinate everything. The good: - competitive quote and they were able to come by quickly to assess the work - flexible in bringing equipment that worked with tight openings - main tree removal was done in 5 hours - removed paver stones so they wouldn't be damaged by machinery - friendly and professional. They accommodated a special request to cut a section for a table The bad: - rescheduling was a huge pain. We had to go back and forth for 3 weeks and I had to proactively follow up to confirm if they were coming - unable to grind the stump as part of the initial quote so had to pay another $400 for them to come back with a different machine - never got an invoice despite asking for one multiple times To summarize, this seems to be a nice family business that has experience removing trees quickly. However, it doesn't appear there is a back office that keeps everything organized so you're going to have to do a lot of work to stay on top of things.
