Purchased my dream midcentury starburst clock, but unsurprisingly it didn't work. I was told Tic Toc was the place to bring it, and I instantly recognized the name having passed its previous homes in East Dallas. Shelley was extremely helpful and informed me of how she would fix the clock, the time frame - it would take 1-2 weeks - and the cost, which was extremely reasonably priced. It took less than a week, and my dream clock is now a working reality! She gave me tips on battery changing to preserve the innards, plus it has a 1 year warranty. I took 2 cuckoo clocks here to get repaired: a larger electronic one and a smaller traditional one. As I unpacked the electric clock, they interrupted me to rudely inform me they "don't work on that junk here, but don't take that the wrong way.". I started to pack them back up and the male tried to stop me packing up the traditional cuckoo saying they would be very happy to work on it. I told them I didn't want to bother them with my *junk* so he started to backtrack and apologize. It was really unnecessary to be so rude. I purchased both clocks in Germany and the electronic clock is much larger, more expensive, and it certainly isn't junk. I had the clock repaired at another shop and it is back to working beautifully. read more

I visited the Tic Toc Clock Shop in East Dallas mainly because it is located in the neighborhood where I grew up and, because I believe in supporting local businesses; especially unique ones. There just aren't that many "clock shops" around. The shop is small but has several beautiful, antique mantel, wall, and grandfather clocks in its showroom. This alone makes the small shop quaint and worth a visit!! My project was that I needed a new movement for a relatively small antique clock (about 2.5-in x 2.5-in). The job was completed in about 10 days, as promised. The quoted cost was a bit on the high side, but I was there and I had already decided to have this business do the work, so I accepted the quote. Because of the shallow depth between the clock face and the face of the movement, and the need to have a very short stem, the owner said she would likely use a movement that would require other than a standard AA or AAA battery. I was fine with that as well. When I picked up the clock, I was a little taken aback that there seemed to be a compromised solution applied to the repair and I was not contacted and asked about it before the work was done. The repair was made using a standard movement, requiring a AA battery. To then compensate for the shallow depth, the movement was set off from the back of the face by stacking foam adhesive (like 3M foam tape) until the depth required was achieved. Doing the repair in this way, while creative and simplified, resulted in foam adhesive being attached directly to the back of the plastic clock face, causing me to wonder whether or not this may result in damage to the face, if ever it should need to be removed. I would likely not use Tic Toc Clock Shop again for my repair needs. If you choose to use Tic Toc Clock Shop, I would make sure you state any specific instructions or "no-nos" and that you fully understand the work to be done. Live well. Be well. Cheers! read more

Very helpful and knew just about every thing about every thing. It was obvious this is more than a job to him but a passion. He explained every little operation of my clock and estimated age of the clock. I was told it could be up to six months before they could work on it. I was so impressed with the people I put down a deposit and excepted the wait time. If you are in a hurry this is not the place to go, if you want honesty and reliable work I think this is the right place. I will write again when the work is done read more

I have a Howard Miller Ltd grandfather clock about 30 years old and it quit running. Shelly from Tic Toc came out and had it running in no time !!! I have a clock that my dad made a few years before he passed away. It's one of the few things I have left from him. I cherish this clock. It hasn't worked in over 20 years. The motor stopped working. I lived in San Francisco for much of that time and just couldn't trust anyone enough to leave it with them. When I walked into this shop it's warm and welcoming. The people that help you at the counter are so sweet and nice. They made me feel like my dads clock was in the best hands possible. I just got it back today! I'm sooo excited that it works. TY TTCS! Small little boutique clock shop that is very quaint. A very friendly and helpful woman was running the place and explained the very xonfusing pricing structure. Some clocks were sold with warranties, some as is, some needed fixing and had two prices, one if they fixed it and another if they did not. It was a bit overwhelming to keep straight, but they do have a nice selection of antique clocks, which are kinda my thing, and their prices seem fairly reasonable. I will certainly come back and continue to shop here and hopefully find the perfect clock to add to my collection. read more

I wished I had read the reviews that people wrote:( before I took my clock to these people my only problem with the clock..... not keeping time (to slow) First of all, the owner is extremely unprofessional and arrogant. He actually told me on the phone that "I was not his only customer" very condescending. took them a month and three weeks to even make a decision on whether or not the it was repairable? (the balance had to be 100% in order for it to be accurate, they tell me) the balance is the tic-er an inch size gear swinging back and forth it is in plain sight once you open the back. To make matters worse once they assured me that the balance was 100% and the clock could be repaired and function-able and accurate I was ok..... or so I thought. No communication from them I called them back two weeks later.. The owners says it was not ok... may or may not be able to fix it...? and they made the decision for me after I explicitly said DO NOT DO ANYTHING to the clock if there is a un repairable problem with it aka BAD BALANCE (the clock would not keep correct time with a bad balance)...what did they do...? First and foremost I just wanted the clock to be accurate and ON TIME. The owner told me they would not do any repair if they were unsure of any balance issues.....The owner tells me.. he may not be able to fix the clock (the balance) to make it keep time but he still planed to charge me full price for the work done...? Even if it did not keep time...? In my opinion that's not right . This is a clock shop? clocks are to be accurate?. not to mention they wanted $275 to do this so called fix. read more

We received a clock from their shop as a Christmas present this year. It never worked. Went back to the shop to return clock and they have a "no return" policy. The man said he will fix the clock and it will work. Explained that clock should not have been sold in the first place if it didn't work. He became argumentative and impatient. Long story short- please make sure any purchase from this place works! He says repairs will take weeks- so we're out the money spent on the clock and have no clock- so frustrating! read more

The customer experience with this store was great. They were very honest about inventory, condition of clocks, price and timing. I wanted a particular clock that he had not yet inspected. He quickly inspected the clock determined that work needed to be done and got back with me the very next day. He told me about the clock, and educated me a lot about wind up clocks along the way. I ended up purchasing the clock and waiting on parts to be ordered and for it to be repaired. He actually completed the repair two weeks early, communicated with me immediately that it was done and I picked it up the next day. The clock works great and I love it. It is rare to see this excellent kind of customer service these days!!! read more

I need a clock fixed but do not want to go there. I went there years ago and they were so rude to me. Also they charge $35 dollars to put in a $5 mechanism. My clock didn't even cost $35! I asked them why they charged so much and they said "Because we can." I have 2 clocks I need repaired. I am sure I have a friend that can put the $5 mechanism in for me or I can watch a YouTube video. read more

What a terrible experience with this company. I was told $160 to come out and $160 would get my clock up and running. After less than 30 minutes I was told the clock needed $850 worth of work done to it. I told the technician I would like to discuss with my husband and he said that was fine but the service charge was $160 plus tax. FOR WHAT?????? I have no problem paying a service charge but this is way out of line when the clock is not working. read more
