This is the best thrift store I have been to in Dallas. The staff are amazing. Beth is one of the main employees I deal with and she is their secret stylist. Styled me for an event and definitely found me some great things. This store supports animal rescue too which is close to my heart. I'm writing this as a husband and father who was with my wife and our child when we were treated unfairly at Second Chance Treasures. While my wife was breastfeeding -- which is protected by Texas law -- an employee named Beth asked us to leave the store. Under Texas Health & Safety Code § 165.002, a mother has the legal right to breastfeed her child in any public or private place where she is otherwise authorized to be. That includes stores like this one. Asking her to leave for breastfeeding was not only humiliating -- it was illegal. Breastfeeding is natural, necessary, and protected by law. No family should be made to feel unwelcome or shamed for feeding their child. I hope the owners take this seriously and provide proper training for their staff. We won't be returning, and I urge others -- especially families -- to think twice before supporting this business until real change is made. read more

It's really not difficult to update your hours online. This place closes earlier than their stated hours, not 6pm, as their presence on Google, Facebook, and Yelp all indicate. Seems like a quality establishment but I don't care to find out now that I've gone out of my way to drive here to find it closed well before it is supposed to be. read more

This place is a hidden gem. The best word I can think of to describe it is HAPPY. This is more of a gift shop than anything, with whimsical, unusual, and unique finds in every room. I'm already planning to do all my holiday shopping here and it's only May! They also accept donations of clothes, accessories, and home goods, although most of the inventory looks brand new. All proceeds go to homeless pets, so make an animal (and yourself, and anyone lucky enough to be on your gift list) happy. read more

Absolutely loved this quaint little store and everything it is about. The proceeds from the store itself helps support the East Lake Pet Orphanage. Did you know that each year over 200,000 pets in the Dallas areas alone are euthanized because of crowded shelters? This store is on a mission to make a dent in those numbers, and you supporting them can help save a life as well. Set in an old house on Garland Road in East Dallas, this store has a great mix of wonderful items for your house and yard. From glassware to statuary, they have you covered. The shop is a great place even before you realize the mission they are on! Once you understand the mission, it makes shopping here that much more fun! I have donated to and bought from this wonderful charity/nonprofit thrift shop ever since they opened. They also have a HUGE warehouse that is open every Saturday, unless Christmas or New Year's is on a Saturday. All of their money goes to support the East Lake Pet Orphanage, nicknamed ELPO, open through the East Lake Veterinary Clinic. They have also had volunteers drive a truck to pick up items from you, like furniture, when you schedule ahead of time. (It's a charity, so be patient and try and schedule a few weeks in advance). Their gift store, Second Chances, has BEAUTIFUL things, including many new and one-of-a-kind items that have been donated, in addition to many gently used items. They have items for all ages! I LOVE THEIR STORE! Go buy lovely, useful things for others, and treat yourself to lovely, useful things and support a pet orphanage at the same time!! :) read more

I Went here to poke around the other day and found it to be really crowded with low priced items. It's not a huge place, but everything in it is donated for charitable reasons and when you buy it feed that charity. It's the kind of place you have to walk through several times to see some interesting items. I found a Nickel plates pearl handled Hors d'œuvre set for $9.99... so cute! Second Chance Treasures is a shop with an interesting concept and great execution. The store is affiliated with a no-kill animal shelter, with proceeds going directly to the charity. Overall, the store hold up well on its own merits, and the charitable results are a great bonus. Second Chance Treasures has a variety of antiques, trinkets, and thrifty items. Although the merchandise itself was not my personal taste in decor and furnishings, it is good quality. I'm sure it will appeal to someone with a slightly different aesthetic. The store accepts donations at a warehouse location and then cherry-picks the best stuff to be featured in the shop. The staff was helpful and explained how the charity benefitted from sales. They also said I could visit the warehouse and look for more items, though I did not have time to take them up on their offer. They were also open to negotiation on their items' prices - this is great since the proceeds are going to a charity anyway, and they can turn over more items quickly. The shop is also dog-friendly. You can bring your pet or meet one of the fosters who might be hanging around behind the counter. The attendant was extremely friendly and talkative, and showed a genuine interest in hearing about my dogs. She pointed out some of the pet specialty items that might be of interest to dog and cat owners. I have not been to the shop before this week, so I do not know what it looked like in the past. However, the manager said that they were making a concerted effort to de-clutter the store and the results are palpable. It was clean, well-organized, and grouped thoughtfully. If you visited in the past and were put off in any way because of the layout, you might want to give it another chance. Overall, this is a cool concept married with great execution, and I wish more stores were as well-operated as this one. read more

In general, I actually found this store to be about 3 stars as far as my own specific taste. However, I bumped it up to four because of the excellent service and attention in addition to the proceeds supporting a no-kill rescue animal charity. The store is very small, but they pack it tastefully with a combination of consignment, vintage, and new items. I could definitely see myself holiday shopping here. The prices are VERY reasonable, so drop a few extra dollars into the charity jar at the counter before heading out the door with your cute new purchases! read more

Fabulous little shop. Used to pass it all the time, intending to check it out. Finally got there yesterday, determined to end my search for a vanity. Immediately saw THE perfect one, bought it, and chatted with the woman working there with her precious dog. Woman couldn't be nicer or more helpful, and I'm embarrassed that I've forgotten her name... We just talked and talked... anywhoo, the store is too cute, has some wonderful items, and it doesn't get any better than it being for homeless pets! This will now be my go-to second-hand shop. I shopped here while waiting for my mom to get her hair done, but really because I wanted to look at antiques. Cute little spot, very limited offering, and some things are priced a bit high, but there's some gems if you dig. Very large place with a lot of selection. Everything was pretty well organized and put out. Aisles are wide and you don't feel crowded which is great because so many are just so over stuffed. Prices are mostly okay. A few things are a bit over priced but they do have sales. Only real negative is the lack of dressing rooms. I only found 2 and they were always full. read more

I love this shop. It is by far the nicest resale shop on Garland Road. They have both new and vintage things, this is not a thrift shop, but more of a consignment shop with fun things to look at and buy. I bought a piece of furniture today.
