I love this place. I collect antique postcards and vintage/antique funeral memorabilia and this is where I've found a lot of it. I love that the postcards are sorted by holiday and theme, because it's easy to find what I'm looking for. The employees are always very friendly and welcoming. Place is amazing, full of beautiful artwork, ranging from bones, paintings, masks, taxidermy, and more! I had purchased a raccoon tail and rabbit's foot for $17. New Location! Fortunately I recently read that Curiosities had expanded into a new location several miles from the original. I hadn't visited this one of a kind shop in sometime and was anxious to check out the new digs. Impressive! At around 30% bigger,the new location hits it outta the park with an even more eclectic collection of ephemera than the original. I could have easily spent most of my time taking photos to post in an attempt to convey the uniqueness of this place. There is literally no junk here. Carefully curated vintage. From taxidermy alligator to human skull. Countertop AM radio to tribal carvings. It's a combination road side attraction,vintage stuff,one of a kind shop. If you haven't been...Go! Very cool indeed! I suppose our visit is during a soft opening period because their official grand opening isn't until Dec. 7th. So they're expecting a lot more items/inventory to come. We're told the garage this place used to be had very recently closed, and it converted neatly into this antique place, specializing in stuff you may otherwise find in a garage of old. Vintage cycles, bicycles, biker jackets, garage decor, etc. Friendly staff. A must see. It completes some sort of trilogy with the other two "curiosities" shops next door. And the prices were surprisingly fair, IMO, particularly for the vintage cycles. read more

HOLY MOLEY !!! THIS place is AMAZEBALLS !!! It's so big and they have some of the coolest stuff !! When we walked in I was worried it was just a crappy "antique" shop. But WOW , it was glorious. I picked it because of the bones picture. I was after oddities and they had plenty of them. I bought a beautiful Victorian doorknobs and plates for them. I can't wait for my husband to change out our RV bathroom door with them. I also got a old Victorian toothpaste ceramic holder for my rings. Coming from So Cal I found the place cheaper than I would find this stuff in Cali. They were super nice to us when we kept asking, can you open this, can you open that. read more

i went in for the first time on thursday, and was brought in by someone who frequents the store and enjoys it a lot. we went inside, upon entry no one spoke to us which was fine, maybe they were all busy but i doubt that due to there being 3 women working. we started looking around, at first we went to the right and were looking at all the oddities and wet specimens which i was very excited about, and we were planning on purchasing a fish they had in there. we continued to look around, making our way through the store. the person i was with was excited to show me a doll in a case that was haunted, and we made our way through the middle isle. we were looking at a bowl of rings in assorted sizes they had eyes on them looking for two that were the same color hoping we can get matching ones, it was at this time him and i both realized these ladies were constantly STARING us down as if we were going to steal something. after that i walked up to the counter they were sitting at was looking at the vintage jewelry, they continued talking amongst themselves and never once asked if i needed help finding something, if i wanted to look at a piece, just none of the normal customer service things you expect when being in a small store. after this we continued to the other side and the man i was with is a very big fan of oil lanterns so we found one he liked and were holding it and discussing if he wanted to buy it. and this time i had seen the lady from the counter walk past us 2 times in probably 10 minutes never really doing anything just watching, and he decided he wanted to think about it so we headed towards the back of the store and were looking at old pictures of women that they had lots of which we enjoyed, but when we walked away we noticed that woman in the section we were just in with the lamp, and when we returned to the area so he could grab it and buy it we noticed she had picked up the lamp and moved it to the other side of the little area and placed it on a higher shelf, it was the only thing that had been moved, the one item we were touching. mind you, there are signs on certain items saying not to touch them so we were under the impression we could pickup and look at items that did not have a sign on them. the whole experience was SO disappointing, i don't know if the issue was us being young alternative people, him being heavily tattooed, or being hispanic, but either way the women who work in this shop made us feel extremely unwelcome and we decided not to purchase anything that day. long story short to the women who work at the shop you shouldn't judge people based on their looks, and it is free to be kind. read more

Curiousities is a great name for a place where you can buy everything from mortuary make-up to vintage Disney items and everything on the spectrum between those two points. Staff was super nice and helpful as well. It was my first time in, but this place is many layers deep so I cannot wait to go back and explore more! read more

Curiosities is a special place to stop, if you have an hour or two to kill in Dallas. The signage indicates "oddities" and the store doesn't disappoint. First of all, the store is massive. There are several rooms that branch off from the large, main one. While Curiosities has a lot of products, it did not feel overwhelming. Everything is beautifully displayed in a way that is inviting. A lot of the store is split up into sections, making it easy to digest the products. For example, there is an entire room full of vintage signs. Another section of the store is just photographs, magazine, and road maps. And another section contains all of the store's vintage clothing and accessories. Curiosities is exceptionally curated. I never felt like I was looking at junk. Every crack of the store is filled with worthwhile items. As for pricing, be prepared to pay what items are worth. Several pieces of furniture, art work and oddities were $1,000+, but that's what they are worth! Don't expect flea market prices though. That's not what this place is about. The staff were very friendly too, asking if we needed any help, holding our items at the counter while we browsed, and giving us some history about the place while checking out. I will happily visit Curiosities when I visit Dallas again and recommend it to others who do too! read more

Very interesting collection of wares, but egregiously expensive compared to other vintage/antique shops around town and around Texas in general. Staff was nice enough, but I was promised a discount by one of the staff members when on the fence about one item. At checkout, whoever rang me up did not apply the discount. When I told her one of the other employees said I could have a discount, she said "he shouldn't have told you that" and did not apply the discount. Quite a bizarre way to end this shopping experience. I don't think I'll be returning to this location, but the selection here is definitely worth a look for the curious. read more

Love stopping by whenever I'm in the neighbourhood. You never know what you'll get, and they do a great job of seasonal inventory (the vintage Halloween goods here are AMAZING!). One of my favourite spots in Dallas. Wonderfully curated and outlaid store. Love the owners, and have gotten some pretty fair discounts from them! I think the prices are pretty fair, with some trinkets being some absolute great deals. Parking can be kind of a headache depending on the time. read more

Great store with an assortment of good finds. The workers are nice for the most part expect from one woman who I assume to be the manager. From what I've seen and heard from others she racially profiles people. I've seen people of color walk into the store and she gives a judgmental greeting while staring them down their whole visit. I loved this store but with how blatantly racist this women is just unexpectable. It's actually disgusting how they LET this women do all of this. There is also a lack of diversity with their staff...that might also explain why they let this women's racism slide. read more

A super cool shop until I came across some Jim Crow inspired art I was enjoying my time shopping until I seen a case filled with degrading/ hurtful images of African Americans. I asked the nice ladies who worked there if they knew the history of this type of art and they just kind of dodged the questions. Instead one of them just kept talking about how much she loves " Aunt Jemima syrup bottles" I'm assuming she's the one that continues to collect that type of art for the shop. Anyways it just made me feel very unwelcomed and hurt. I'm aware that this is the dark history of America, and that this considered "antique" art but this seemed a bit overboard. read more

I love this store! I could spend hours in here, and never get bored. It is an eclectic melange of strange, cool, and vintage items. I recently bought a mint, working, bakelite radio from the 1940's for only $65. These can go up to $500 in this condition. And they have NOS of the replacement tubes, should I need them. They have something for everyone from dishes to tools. Need a replacement gravy boat to match your set? Check here! Need an old tool in mint condition? Check here! Vintage movie lights? They got 'em! They have tons of vintage jewelry and accessories (I got a vintage, black, rhinestone Weiss bracelet for $25!). Old albums, dolls, furniture, dishes, tools, electronics, lamps, Jewelry... So my friends were all, "Oh, there's this crazy antique store in Dallas. Want to go?" Well, given how these particular friends are into eclectic stuff (like myself) I felt very compelled to check this place out with them. Where to start... well, to begin Curiosities lives up to it's name. There is just "stuff" everywhere in there, but not exactly you're grandma's stuff (oh, wait.. in parts there seems to be). I just don't know how to describe it (I suggest checking out deno f.'s review for a good description). But I did add some pictures, if that's any help. I'd say that if you're not looking for a fez, strange (yet sometimes interesting) amateur art, cross-stitch swatches, old cracked dolls (or doll parts), monkey skulls or old-used holiday decorations then this place probably isn't what you're looking for.... or maybe it is. Urgg.. this store is so difficult to describe. I do agree with Scott L. about the prices. They seem a little higher then I would pay for the items, but I didn't see any signs that said that they were firm on the prices either. Anyhow, I had to drive from Arlington, TX just to see this place, and personally I wouldn't drive all the way back from there just to visit this store again. But if I was going to be in the Dallas area, I could see myself making a detour and checking it out again. read more

I have been in love with this place since it first opened - I must have been in high school. Imagine Grandma's attic if Grandma was a hoarder, but only of awesome, vintage and antique things. This place is stuffed to the brim of the most amazing things, and I can poke through them for hours. You will find everything from jewelry to taxidermy animals, vintage ornaments and childrens' books. I very much enjoyed finding the bookcase full of old medical texts the last time I was there, and I also saw some antique surgery tools in a display case as well. I love the baskets of pool balls, dice, type writer keys and scrabble letters - anyone could come up with something fun to do with these things! I always come away with something new when I'm here, mostly earrings. Most things here are moderately priced - I think it's consignment based - and usually whatever tickles your fancy is affordable. So, for anyone who fancies a bit of whimsy or an excellent place to wander through on a rainy day - this is your store! read more

You enter another world when you walk through the door. It's a surrealistic playground of kewpie dolls, taxidermy, vintage flash cards, 50's gowns & so much more. Most vendor booths are stocked to hoarding capacity. This is the only issue - too many good things crammed together. Curiosities more than makes up for this with an amazing inventory & nice, hip people and a sweet enormous Labrador Retriever. Make sure that you visit them soon.
