Can't wrap my head around who this place is for or why the rating is as high as it is. A few friends and I wandered in here before going our separate ways after dinner, curious as to what this eccentric, red building was. Lo and behold, we found a decorated storage unit for nazism and miscellaneous BS. While the questionable "art" alone didn't bother us much, whoever was creeping around us, the person who I assume is the owner, did. It's a shame, because before we had the opportunity to acknowledge that this wasn't a place we should be in, we did find some items that were amusing, a couple of which we were prepared to buy. However, when one of my friends tried to compliment an item he had taken an interest in to initiate conversation with the employee/owner, mostly to break the eerie tension that only came from him staring at us silently from the other room, the owner/employee ignored him, only ever breaking his silence a minute later to bluntly tell the aforementioned friend to put an item down. After about 15 more seconds of receiving stares from this old man, feeling like we might become murder victims, we left, hearing the dead bolt lock behind us. I look forward to seeing this place being torn down. read more

This place gets a bad wrap, Based on some of the reviews on here I was sorta expecting a scene out of a horror movie but after going I can confidently say that the hate is unwarranted, speaking to the owner has only reaffirmed my opinion hes a kind man and wasn't creepy or weird in the slightest as some of the reviews suggest. This place is a sensory explosion!! Jimi's artwork is amazing!! I am so honored to have a piece of his art prominently displayed in my home... it's a fabulous conversation piece. I'm sure some folks will be offended... it is perhaps intentional... Jimi likes to invoke feeling with his art... if you're offended that's your problem - maybe you should look into your soul and see why you are taking it personally and can't see the artistic whimsey. For example - Jimi seems to be on a Swastika kick... but you just keep in mind that swastikas are not only meant to represent nazi's... it's actually a symbol that's was used for thousands of years prior to the evil folks that highjacked it... it's sanskrit for well-being. Buddhists (and other cultures) use this symbol as an auspicious sign and is part of their everyday life. So, if you come here, have an open mind... it's eclectic... it's vintage.. music, toys, collectables, clothes... oh and let's not forget amazing artwork... if you don't like something you see here... just don't buy it! I highly recommend chatting with Jimi and you'll see - he is not a neo-nazi, skin head or any other political nasty type. This place was such a mindfuck. Literally the art in here was so cool. They have amazing pieces of clothing, pipes, art, and books. Although some of the themes seem a bit extreme or obsessive, there's actually a huge political statement between layering a swastika on top of Jesus. Please do your own research before coming here and judging the art or the artist. Of course I personally won't buy anything related to Nazis, but regardless there is lots to look at. The store is kind of small, but it's full of so many items that it doesn't matter. You can walk around five times and still see something new. Was glad to see a store like this in Dallas , there will be some items that are fairly unique there. Some of the art may be shocking but it is art at the end of the day. I didn't feel very comfortable seeing the 40 + books on Nazism and shirts with swastikas for sale. Is it more for shock value? Is it a marketing scheme? Or like the other reviews say, I guess the owner just likes nazism. So I would purchase some items there but will not because I just don't support nazi sympathizers. DISCLAIMER: This store is not for everyone. If you are claustrophobic or easily offended, either suck it up or don't go. I'm giving this place 4 stars for being the most unique shoppe I visited in the Lower Greenville area. This uh, boutique opens at 5PM and when we approached the red door, there was a sign posted that said NO FUCKING POPSICLES. When I saw how cramped the place was and how full it is with the owner's art and memorabilia I can see why he doesn't want syrup dripped all over these things. So we weaved our way through the narrow paths and I was reminded of the episode of Hoarders where the guy filled his home with dolls and then called it a museum so he didn't appear to be totally out there. Speaking of out there, the owner stood silent as we browsed - a thin older Asian man, long frizzy hair and a black suit. I could see tattoos peeking out of the sleeves. I wanted him to speak, to get some sense of him, but I was too intimidated to approach him. If you know me that's rare, but in this small space I just couldn't. He already seemed agitated. Things I saw: -Swastikas everywhere, on his art and historical memorabilia -Brass knuckles in every style -Vinyl -A ton of bondage gear -Some of the best retro clothing and shoes EVER at very reasonable prices. Really I was blown away. -Many hand painted scales with the words "Eat more bitch!" wrtten all over them. FInally, a few more people walked into the shoppe and it cut the tension for a moment. I could tell by their wide eyes it was their first time too. Suddenly I heard the owner speak "No pictures!" he growled at them. Luckily I already had some. Jimi is a really good friend of mine. He's intelligent and unique. He's not going to try to get along with you, if you are "small brained" aka judgmental- do yourself a favor and don't knock on that red door. If you are open minded, kind, and have good manners, jimi will treat you like family. I stumbled in his store just like everyone else did. And after ten years he has become nothing less than family to me. Japanese was Nazi, but Jimi wasn't. He loves japan, he also knows what japan did to China. (I am Chinese, and he often tells me he feels bad about that history) He does the artwork for the sake of art. He doesn't care about your perception about "Nazi" or "hitler". He's a true artist with a temper, if he's pissed off by the politically correct bullies trying to tell him how to do art, he will throw more what you dislike in your face. He will say he likes Nazi in the sense you won't understand- if you are close minded and judgemental- as a way to kick you out of there. Like I said, don't even go in if you only want politically correct art. That's not jimi. Art is art and stop bullying artists. I'll thank you if you just leave my friend alone. It is a depressing enough time for a free soul like jimi. I was so positive that I was going to adore this funky little thrifty cave the minute I walked in and heard Getz and Gilberto playing. I was sure I would find some kookie, kitchy chatchkes to delight my friends and family with this Christmas. But what I found was a little of this, and a little of that, surrounded by quite a bit of original art making liberal use of Nazi symbolism and an occasional "F" word scrawled across. A very special place. Jimmy is a very cool guy. My friend and I went there several times and the visit was magical. Unique items everywhere, enjoyed the "trip" back to the 60s & 70s. Jimmy is an artist and his work is an expression of himself and things that he has experienced in his life. No one can know his journey except him. You can't tell an artist how to do his work as it is an unique expression of his experiences. Bought a few items, all very special to me that have a special place in my home. i would give this negative starts if i could. before i could walk even a few feet in and notice any antisemitism, i was hit with the feeling that the house was moving. i tried to reason it over that maybe it was a small movement in the floors or that i was getting high second hand. the feeling was so heavy and dense and plain evil that everyone i was with felt it too. we could barely make it to the back of the store before we had to rush out because the feeling of the place became almost unbearable. i would not recommend this place to anyone who cares about their energy and the balance of it inside of you personally. simply put, this place and the art in it are carrying evil with them in their energy. read more

The experience was very unreal. Jimi the owner emerged from the shadows as we entered and lingered around. The art was unique and mostly nazi themed. It was like I was in a Rob Zombie film. Vintage records, tapes and CDs. Lots of cute clothes. If you love nazi memorabilia, you'll love his selection. Swastikas in every room and every wall. The vibes were very negative and dark. Pretty interesting thrift shop. Jimi Hendrix (the owner, who always has wine and a record playing it seems) has a huge collection of random stuff and the wares he has seems to change a good amount from month to month. There is art, movies, record players, records, clothes etc. etc. I recently bought a record from here two days ago and it plays just fine, I like stopping by and going through his records and finding a new gem. Also in the past I have bought (what I like to think) stylish blazers to wear out and about or even work. Though Greenville may be overtaken by Uptown crowds, I think Jimi's place will always be a nice refuge. read more

Stopped in randomly after dinner with a friend and had no preconceptions. The place is a bit cramped and has several rooms stuffed with records, brass knuckles, clothing/boots, art and everything between. The owner Jimi seems a bit shy and has a tendency to follow you around but from what i've read, that's just his thing. After browsing for a solid hour (you need at least 12 to see everything) I was able to get a deal an on good size portrait that was finger painted. Just FYI, If you are easily offended by the word fuck painted on a depiction of the last supper or liberal use of the swastika i suggest not even coming in. read more

I went to check out this place with a friend. It's a really cool store. There are lots of weird trinkets that litter the store. The first room can be a bit tough to walk around in because of how densely packed it is with cool stuff to see. That being said, I'm Hispanic (so was my friend) and didn't enjoy being followed around the store. The guy, who I'm guessing was the owner, crept around no more than 2 or 3 steps behind us watching us out the side of his eye. I would've assumed this was normal behavior if some other white people hadn't walked in at the same time we were there. He never checked on them and never left us. I don't want to accuse anyone of anything, but I'd be naive to not suspect the obvious. Still, none of these reviews seem like they've had issues with this kind of thing at this store so I could be wrong. Regardless I definitely think people should go and check this place out. read more

Came here today for the first time and it was so interesting to see all the fun stuff inside. It's a different kind of consignment shop. Very unique and creative aspects put into a thrift house. You can find anything from vintage Vinyls, artwork, pipes, bongs, and clothes inside. The artwork may seem very provocative to most people, but it is all very interesting and well done nonetheless.
