Came early on a Sunday morning. It might have been filled with regulars, but they were friendly. They were NOT the type of regulars that "scowl" at non-regular coustomers, like in many small diners. I stopped in to this classic American diner on my way to work and was neither disappointed nor blown away. On a Tuesday morning it was about half full of diners and the service was fine, and I ordered eggs, biscuit, bacon, and grits. My food arrived in under ten minutes with minimal fanfare, the only surprise being the grilled and *buttered* biscuit (next time I'd skip the *butter*, since there were real butter paks on the table). Hole-in-the-wall of all hole-in-the-walls but fantastic service, great food, no music blaring in your ears - so you can actually talk - and the sort of atmosphere that immediately makes you feel like a regular. It has plenty of parking - where you can actually see your car while you're eating - and is located just off Causeway near the interstate. And it's very easy to get to, even during rush hour, via the South I-10 Service road or West Napoleon. I got the bacon cheese burger with fries, another guy got the pattie melt and two of our group got a breakfast. Everybody was happy with their order and the service and, before we left, it was proclaimed "A keeper." When I ordered the eggs I asked for over medium. No nice way of saying this but, they Fucked it up! The eggs were really runny and not cooked right. For what it is, this place is fantastic. My baseline for comparison is, obviously, the Waffle House, and in contrast to every Waffle House I've ever encountered, this place is a bright, shiny, wonderfully clean and warm Parallel Universe that feels like this is the way a small town Waffle House is supposed to be. The waitress Lisa is great but when you have a cook that just walks out and leaves the customers waiting for their food so she can go and take a break is utterly ridiculous.
