My first time trying to Tibetan food and it was a success. The food was tasty and the lunch special is extremely affordable. You can't beat the 1 entree and 1 side for $4.95 and they give you plenty of food to fill you up. Better yet, you can have up to 3 entrees and a side and it's still only $6.95! I went for the 3 entrees and between myself and a friend we tried pretty much all the vegetarian dishes. Everything tasted delicious and we were plenty full after. If you've never tried Tibetan and are curious, it reminded me of Chinese food but with slightly different spices. I highly recommend the "Tsel Shogok" Sliced Potatoes and Spinach, it was very tasty. The staff was nice and even friendly while I horribly butchered the names of the Tibetan dishes. The location is small but there is some seating in the front and a back room with more tables. Everything looked very clean. I can't wait to go back, and try some of the other dishes! Definitely check out the lunch special, I think most will be pleased. read more

My family and I were a little deceived by this place and all the great reviews that we read. The restaurant was located on a busy street next to a Subway. The restaurant was pretty empty during dinner. We ordered a Momo, a garbanzo bean dish and a beef dish. The husband and I decided to try a new place today, and we chose Tibet Kitchen. We made a good choice! :) The food is made fresh when you order (a huge plus in my book!) and they have a wide variety of vegetarian and non-veg entrees. We both got entrees with "bean string noodles" (cellophane noodles) and a protein (he got tofu, I got chicken) and both were incredibly good (and filling! I'll eat the other half of mine for lunch tomorrow.) Their steamed rolls are delicious & comforting too. We'll definitely be back, and would highly recommend this place! I've been here pretty infrequently in the couple of years it's been open. I'd say four or five times. Most recently, yesterday. It's a beautiful place and that's hard to do, considering it's squashed between a Subway and what used to be a Dairy Queen. There are pictures of Tibet hanging high on the walls, books stacked on the counters, tapestries by the doorway, and it smells incredible in there, like garlic and unnameable spices, as you sit at the counter salivating, waiting for your food. Well, the food doesn't taste as good as the place smells (that would be impossible), but it's certainly tasty enough, and quite unlike any other cuisine in the area. The momos and flat spring rolls are served with a spicy orange chunky sauce that packs a hidden punch and gets better the more of it you eat. The noodle dishes are SPICY. Usually. It's a little bit unpredictable how spicy they'll be, but I'd err on the side of being prepared. Pepper seeds may be hidden throughout, tucked into the nooks and crannies of the fresh vegetables that abound in stir-fry type dishes. I'm not sure if they still do a lunch special, but the only time I've been here and it was awful was for the lunch special. Everything was out in sad little heaters, wilting, and it tasted like watered-down Chinese food. COLD watered-down Chinese food. So make sure what you order is being made fresh. Talk about hard to find. Tucked next to Subway at Folsom and Arapahoe lies the Tibet Kitchen. The food is inexpensive and tasty. I tried the momos based on hearing "must haves". The eight dumplings come in three varieties with accompanying sauce. I also had their lentil soup which was the best lentil soup I have had. Great taste and texture. Pleasing, unique food. I've only tried the beef fried noodles so far, but this combination of veggies, beef, and noodles in a spicy sauce was particularly enjoyable. It felt like familiar comfort food, but with a flavor I'd somehow remembered from another lifetime. My wife reports that they have good veggie selections as well, and splendid veggie momos. We tried the veg, chicken and beef momo's (tibetan style dumplings) amazingly well prepared, piping hot and with their explosive sauce, packs quite a punch. Having grown up on momos, a popular food amongst students in Delhi and most towns in India, especially in winter, I was skeptical about how good could it get in the middle of Denver. I'm super happy that i was wrong. Its easily amongst the best i have eaten and the sauce was the best ever ! We also had their chicken noodle which was ok, the noodles were gnocchi like (minus filling) nano dumplings with pok choy and chicken chunks in a soupy texture. Homemade Tibetan food. You order at the counter, pay, pour yourself some water from the dispenser, sit yourself down and the staff will bring you food. Take out is also available but they no longer deliver. They only accept cash or credit cards. Their food is not fancy but really flavorful. They use good fresh ingredients. The place is not big, 5-6 seats along the counter and 4 more small tables in the back. There are also some outdoor seating. I loved my beef momos. They remind me of the dumplings from the Northern part of China (thick skin and basic filling). Take a look at their menu, especially the back of the menu. I know a lot of the reviewers have great things to say about this place. Yes, the $4.95 deal is great in certain respects, but I have to consider the flavor as well as the quantity of food I got. The first time I went here, I got chicken momos which cost me about $9.00. When I got home to try them, they were very bland, and not worth the wait and price. Also the sauce that came with it was also not too flavorful, so I could honestly not enjoy this. I decided to give this place another shot, and tried their $4.95 lunch special. I decided to get chicken curry, tibetan steamed rice, and shaptak. I honestly have to say that the curry was salty and the chicken was dry, the shaptak was also too salty but the beef was moist. I learned about the cuisine culturally speaking but did not very much enjoy the dishes as presented here at this place. It's definitely a good deal money-wise, though -- no doubt about that. If you're going for the purpose of learning something, it's adequate -- barely. If you're going for something you really want to enjoy (and who isn't?), I'd say it's not. Tibet Kitchen is owned and run by Tibetans and offers delicious food at very reasonable prices. The beef shaptak is amazing. I always get it with rice and ting-mo and their chicken soup. The staff is friendly and they have a great outdoor place to eat. They give you free a cup of their delicious chai tea. I highly recommend trying Tibet Kitchen. Update: Their momos are AMAZING. Tsampa in NYC can suck it. First time for Tibetan was Tsampa's and really - it was a bit boring. Healthy, for sure, but overall... I like my heat. I like my complexity. To be honest - I don't give a flying f*ck if a food is totally authentic. If it's tasty, I'm in. Sue me. That being said, I have NO CLUE what 'authentic' Tibetan cuisine is. I just like tastiness. But boring? here, Tibet Kitchen - not so much. We had the vegetarian spring rolls, and they came w/ a side of the most delicious chunky chili sauce - the texture of a good chimichurri but reddish not green. We split an order of Tibetan spring rolls - a litte different from the norm, flattened and served with the chunky chili sauce and a side salad of cabbage. I then had the veggie Thenthuk (a soupy dish with flat, square handmade noodles) and my buddy had the Gyathuk Ngopa w/ chicken (pan-fried noodles). The flavor of both was awesome, especially after one of the employees came over with extra spoonfuls of the chunky chili sauce for our bowls. I have to say, my buddy won w/ the pan-fried noodles - SO YUM! Do yourself a favor and seek out stories of Tibetans in the US, how and why they got here. If this place was around the corner from my house, I'd be large. In charge. As it is, it's a nice post-hike place (we conquered Mt. I love this place. It's on my way home has such a cool atmosphere. Check out the crazy back yard if you go there. There is some sort of pyramid made out of irons. The food is pretty good but also doesn't completely blow me away. For how cheap it is, and the atmosphere, it's totally worth it and leaves you fairly full. Also, I agree about the lunch special. We enjoyed our momo sampler platter and didn't mind a short wait, because we had endless chai :) Really filling food that's tasty, but could be a little more memorable. Without sauces the momo wasn't great, but a little sriracha made the experience worthwhile. Prices are very fair too. I'd return for a hearty meal at a good price. I look forward to trying the beef dumpling soup on my next visit. PS: I'd have to say that the reviews on here are a little ridiculous. Rating a local business poorly because you didn't receive top-notch service in a fancy atmosphere when you're paying $6 per meal? Kind of ridiculous. I didn't mind that this place was small. I just moved to Colorado. I had my first meal here. The server was incredibly. The location is like a hidden gem. I'm going back there for sure. It's a dirty little hole in the wall next to subway. On the front you'll find brightly colored windows listing their specials pricing. As well as, "Voted #1" with no credible sources to back it up. It's charming, I love it! You walk in and it's as minuet as it appears and smells oh so very delicious!! The mountainous amounts of food that come on your plate are more than worth the price. Planned a quick stopover to this place on our way back from the Rockys. And boy, it was one of the best decisions of our trip to Colorado! Great flavourful food, courteous staff, and many vegetarian options to chose from. The portion size is large, with the added bonus that it was pretty cheap. This is our local go-to spot when eating out in Boulder. We're there probably every other week at least haha. Good prices, great food, staff are lovely. Very casual, a favourite of a lot of friends now as well. The momos are a must! All are great but beef is probably our favourite. Its not often you can find really fresh good soup dumplings - and they're almost always perfect. Trust us, we moved here from Vancouver BC. We've tried a couple other items - really like the dinner special, there's a beef noodle soup (sorry can't remember the name), and chai is always delicious. Will always come back! read more

The momos were great. I got a sampler with chicken and beef momos, fresh, juicy, delicious. I ordered to go, but ended up sitting down in the restaurant. There are about 16 seats in the entire place, not large. There is a tasty sauce available on each table that I wouldn't have tasted if I hadn't sat down in the restaurant. YES! Dirt cheap tibetan food. I was blown away by theyre special for $7 they stack your plate with rice, beans, potatoes, buns, meat, and vegetables and its just all great. Unfortunately I'm writing this review a few days after so the names are eluding me right now. However the ground beef dish is awesome, so are the potatoes. They also have some really good spicy chai tea they serve if youre eating in. The best part is when you eat in you get real table wear. no paper or plastic. read more

Alright, I'll admit it, I ate here just so that I could say that I have eaten the cuisine of Tibet. That said, it was quite tasty. I did not see the Sherpas, but the authenticity was undeniable. Start with their complementary Chai. Then be sure and sample the Spicy chicken with steamed bun. No culinary trip to Tibet would be complete without Momos. Don't have a clue what a Momo is?
