Such a lovely home style restaurant! The people here are so kind and caring. I got to try the combination plate (a tad oily but still yummy), thali (definitely would recommend, this is pretty much a tasting platter), lamb kebab, and mango lassi. They were all super tasty!! During a 4-day jaunt through Boulder we chose this to be our last meal, a Sunday late lunch based on many 5-star reviews... and we weren't disappointed. The establishment was only 1/4 occupied at this odd hour we chose and the gentleman/owner greeted us with such alacrity. He offered the table of our choosing and then returned minutes later to give us guidance on his menu. I requested something less traditional (i.e., no vindaloo or biryani) and he immediately recommended the Tandoori Momo ($18 + $2 with ground chicken) and the Rogan Josh ($19 + $1 for lamb upgrade). We agreed that the lamb was "good" in that it was mild (not gamey), very lean, and without gristle... but it could have been a bit more tender. Overall, this dish reminded me a bit of the more traditional Indian/rice dishes... and that was still a-ok. The star of the show was, indeed, the Tandoori Momo. I had initially hesitated when the owner made his recommendation because I (errantly) pictured pieces of reddish chicken from the Tandoori oven. I was so wrong. They are actually large reddish "pot-stickers" filled with seasoned ground chicken inside. I had never seen anything like that before. Bonus: they arrive with a big ruckus - 10 of them on a loudly sizzling platter which you can hear from 30 feet away. The couple of sauces and grilled/sliced onions that accompanied them were terrific and all was quite filling. The waitress that took over service for the balance of our meal was polite and attentive. Overall, an excellent last meal... and leaving me craving that vindaloo next time Lol. Note: one little critique is that their bill adds the tax in And Then calculates the proposed tip amount to that enlarged total. Sherpa has been on my bucket list of restaurants to try in Boulder, and I definitely wasn't disappointed. We got the lamb biryani and saag paneer, both of which were really delicious (and I'm not one who eats lamb since it's usually tough and gamey, but this one was tender and tasted great.) Personally, I could've taken more spice on both dishes, but other than that, they were perfect. I liked the ambiance since it kinda reminded me of some restaurants I used to frequent on the east coast, so it was sort of nostalgic dining here. Went for lunch today and had the special lunch tray-- it was so flavorful and the naan was fresh and HOT. Delicious. The only suggestion is to not salt the saag as much but all the other dishes were perfectly seasoned. We were debating going here or to Tiffins and I am glad that we tried this place. The atmosphere and service were great, but most importantly the food was incredible. My common complaint is that restaurants sacrifice flavor to make things spicier. Not here. I got my food at level 5 and it was so full of flavor I think I could have gone hotter. Also? Maybe the best naan I've ever had. Cheese and onion, absolutely incredible. I placed a to-go order at the bar for fried chicken momos and plain naan. The proprietor greeted me warmly and invited me to sit. There was only one table of customers being served. I wish he had told me my order would take 40 minutes; at the thirty minute mark he mentioned that the momos take a long time to prepare. Before my food was ready, restaurant employees had begun eating their own meals. When the food was ready, my daughter and I ate it in the car. Everything was very hot temperature-wise. The momos were surprisingly spicy but still tasty, and the chutney was a nice balance to those flavors. The naan was delicious. I recommend the food but be forewarned to expect a long wait, even if you are the only customer. read more

Came here for lunch one weekend and was pleasantly surprised by it. We ordered the jhol momo and the tandoori chicken and both tasted pretty good. The portion sizes were also large, so we had to take some items home. The service was pretty good too and the staff was incredibly friendly. read more

Most restaurants give you old food and you can tell. Sherpa Kitchen is fresh! The paneer pakora was perfect. The chicken tikka masala was excellent without being too salty. Quick read: tons of vegetarian / vegan options, relaxed but great service (just order takeout if you're in a hurry or come with some time to spare) , huge portions, and flavorful food!! This was the best Indian/ Himalayan food I have had in a long time. They have lunch specials too! We came to grab a snack while we were in the area and we left so full we skipped dinner. We started with the masala chai and the Thai tea and I'm so glad we did, you've got to try them for the full experience! The vegetable pankora took me by surprise and I was fighting for the last pieces. They were crunchy, salty, and packed with flavor. We then ordered the tandoori and chili vegetarian momo. We couldn't pick a favorite. The chili momo were a little more Smokey and spicy and the tandoori were a little more cumin and citrusy. They were both piping hot and the peppers and onions served with were crunchy and delicious. We ordered medium spice and they were perfect. I couldn't dream up a better momo. Was recommended this place by this random guy Tate, don't know him, but and all I can say is that I'd trust that guy with making decisions for me for the rest of my life. Got the chai and veg thali and both did not disappoint. I'd say I'm well versed in spice, but Sherpa Kitchen out does themselves in that realm and I was quickly transported far off this planet. Our server Rashma was a saint and diligently returned with some yogurt and raita upon request. (Next time I will take a level 1 spice, sorry Rashma).
