Had the chance to try out Ti-Bear in Berkeley! A new boba spot near campus, so it's good for students who are in the area and are craving some boba!! The decor inside is sooo cute with all the rilakkuma plush everywhere hehe Inside is small, there was one small picnic table and a handful of high chairs for the wall-tables. We got the lemon refresher, strawberry genmaicha latte and QQ Mochi Milk Tea! My boyfriend and I's favorite was the Lemon Refresher; it was so fresh and light, perfect for the sunny day we came to visit. We didn't get to try the strawberry matcha latte because that was given to another family member, but it looks aesthetic and I'm sure it was just as good! You can never go wrong with strawberry matcha haha the QQ Mochi Milk Tea was the store's #1 favorite drink! Unfortunately, it wasn't my favorite. In my opinion, the mochi in boba drinks (in general) are very interesting to me LOL so I'm not sure if I like that. Forsure people will disagree and will love the QQ mochi but to each their own! Just opened this month. I tried the Mango Genmaicha Latte and Strawberry Genmaicha Latte. Tea flavour blend perfectly with milk and with fresh strawberry/mango, make it perfect. It is not just regular milk tea. The Thai Green Float Latte can be another option. Unique combination of geinmai tea, matcha and thai tea ice cream, very refreshing. We got a sample of the QQ Mochi Milk Tea with Boba. The geinmai tea when its mix with milk, has unique flavour. Boba is very soft and chewy. The owner is very nice and kind. She explained it well. Visited twice (on 8/21 and 8/28). Here's my overall rating: DRINKS: [ 5 stars ] - QQ Mochi Milk Tea w/ Boba and Mango Genmaicha Latte. Ordered less sweet for both, and they were really tasty. The flavor of the teas are strong, but not in a bitter way. They got the brews of their teas just perfect, in my opinion. When I order a milk tea, I expect to taste tea, not just sugary sweetness. Also the toppings in each drink were solid. Boba was warm, soft, and chewy. The mochi was velvety/silky smooth--however, I wish they put more of it in the drink. The amount seemed very little for it being the main attraction. As for the Mango Genmaicha drink, the mango sticky rice was soft, but with a nice bite to it. I have no complaints about it. Loved these drinks and would get again! [ 4 stars ] - Thai Green Float Latte. Never had Thai green tea before. It's very floral tasting, much like jasmine tea, which is not what I expected. I liked it! The only thing I could do without is the Thai tea ice cream. It didn't seem to add anything to the drink. I can see it as a way to make the drink creamy, but I think just milk/mylk would be same, or maybe even better because the ice cream gave the drink a subtle foamy, thick texture. [ 3.5/4 stars ] - Passion Fruit Refresher. This drink was okay. I ordered it with normal sweetness. Would have enjoyed it if less sweet, but still enjoyed it especially on a hot day! I know some people don't like the passionfruit seeds, but I do! I would have loved more of it TOPPINGS: [ 1 star ] - Grass Jelly. **This rating is specifically for the amount you get for an extra charge** I added grass jelly to my Passion Fruit Refresher, and it was weeeeeeeak. For an extra $0.75, I got a scant amount of grass jelly, which seemed to be about a little over ONE TABLESPOON. I drank it up in like two or three sips of the drink. I really wanted to love this place, but my experience fell short of what I'd hoped. I carefully perused the menu before visiting and made the decision on a Taro mochi milk w bubbles tea. Based on previous Taro bubble teas I've had in my mind there was a taste expectation. In terms of the mochi milk I was excited to try it since I love mochi but had never heard of it in liquid form. Well unfortunately the taste of this drink and texture fell short. It was almost flavorless and I stopped drinking about 1/4 of the way in. As for the location it's small but decorated in a fun way and service is good. However, for the offerings and price I think I'd try another spot. read more

I love this place so much that after trying it for the first time, I went again later in the week! The first time, I ordered inside, and ordered like 6 drinks. The ordering tablet was really easy to work with and the drinks were ready within 10 mins. The inside is cute and has a little claw machine to play with while waiting. When I received my drinks, I saw they all had black sugar boba even though I ordered other toppings. I didn't realize that most drinks come with it by default, so that was a mistake on my part. Also explains why I thought the drinks were on the pricier side - the price includes boba. In terms of taste, the drinks were great!! I ordered green Thai tea float, coconut milk tea, mochi milk tea, and the 1000 cc oolong milk tea. I loved the green Thai tea so much!! The tea was so strong and milk was creamy. The mochi milk tea was very unique. It had thick chunks of mochi inside, which took a minute to get used to, but was overall such a nice chewing experience. I visited Tibear twice and my first order included the Mochi milk tea, winter melon milk tea , mango genmaicha. I never had boba with Mochi topping and was curious to see how it tasted . The milk tea was well made along with the brown sugar boba . I was surprise about how well the mochi tasted with our drinks . All of the drinks tasted like it was made with fine ingredients as I'm sure that's what explains why the drinks are expensive . The store is decorated with so many squishy bears and it is well decorated . It creates a great vibe for everyone but I would say the store is a little small but has enough space to lounge . Me and the wife liked TIbear so much we came the next day and the wife ordered the winter melon again and I tried the matcha latte with mochi . I was not disappointed so much rich flavors and great toppings that compliment each other . What was the real highlight was the customer service the lady who I'm assuming is the business owner was very nice and ensured we knew all ways to order next time . Overall, this is a decent boba spot. Very cute for pictures, but the drinks themselves are quite standard for boba shops. You order from a tablet at the front and the staff will call your number when your drink is ready. It's a small shop, so there aren't too many places to sit (less than 10, if I remember correctly). To match the theme of the restaurant, there is a display of plush bears along one of the walls that is a good background for pictures. It's cute, but I wouldn't say that you need to drop everything to come see it. I recently tried B2. Thai Green Refresher. The flavor was unlike I have ever had before, and I quite liked it. I've been a fan of boba since the early 90s! I would always order Pearl tea drinks at Pho restaurants so you could say I've had my fair share of boba! I came in here about an hour before they closed on a Saturday and I ordered my drink on their kiosk. I ordered 3 drinks, 2 with boba, but they were out of boba after they made my first order. Which is understandable, it's the end of the day. Todays review I'll be featuring Ti-Bear which is a relatively new bubble tea shop in this little Bear town of Berkeley "GO BEARS" . Ti-Bear is family owned and ran by Jessie who has this IMMACULATE plush collection paying homage to Sanrios Rilakkuma which is the character known as the relaxing bear. IT'S so fitting since this place is inviting with the plethora of Rilakkuma plushes everywhere. This boba shop is amazing so I'm calling all Bears to gather at this tea shop, because thees no other shop that is more Bear territory than this . Jessie was so incredibly nice and super warm when I came in. Huge shout out to her for taking me on that rainy Sunday! The shop is incredibly small with the capacity of probably about 6-8 people. So how are the drinks? B5 Mango Purple Rice Coconut Latte: The B5 is made using Fresh Mango, Purple Rice, Coconut Milk base, and Black Tea. I got this is less sweet and it was the perfect amount of sweetness. The purple rice gave this drink a lot of flavor and that texture that I love in drinks. The fresh mango was super pleasant and paired so well with the coconut milk. The crystal boba was good, it had a good texture a slight fruity flavor. The black tea was subtle and got drowned out by all the other powerful ingredients, but I'm not super disappointed as the drink was good enough for me. C2 Strawberry matcha Latte: The C2 is made using Fresh Strawberry, Matcha, Milk, and topped with whipped cream and strawberry bits. I also did this on less sweet but it came out a lot sweeter than the purple rice drink! The matcha powder was present but a little subtle. The fresh strawberry was sweet and had an intense flavor! Loved the festive Christmas strawberry bits and the crystal boba. D2 Osmanthus Oolong Bubble Tea: The Osmanthus Oolong Bubble tea is one of their December hot drink specials that features snowball boba, osmanthus olong milk tea, topped with whipped cream and I believe it's bits of osmanthus on top of that whipped cream! Ok, let me just say how incredibly aromatic and flavorful this drink was. It was a bit on the floral side which is something I NEVER opt for, but that osanthus flower infused in this drink was INCREDIBLE and worked so well with the oolong tea. It was on the sweeter side, but it was perfect to where you could not taste the bitterness of the osmanthus. MY only complaint with this drink is that be WARNED it's incredibly hot and since theres boba inside you'll need to use a boba straw to drink it and when I took my first sip you can imagine how fast PIPING HOT tea shot into my mouth and gave me a gnarly burn haha. I could do without the boba next time and I would love to just keep the sippy lid and blow on it to cool it down! Jessie said she will be keeping it going in January so I highly recommend ya'll to check it out before she yanks it off the menu Overall, Ti-Bear is an amazing small family tea shop offering Berkeley a good selection of milky drinks, teas, and more. If you're ever in the area and you love Rilakkuma you gotta come visit Jessie's tea shop. With the rise of boba/tea shops I understand that it's difficult to choose and pick these days, but as I always say give everything a chance at least ONCE. Tibear is an extremely small storefront with lots of cute plushies to the left corner of the store and a barren front. The drink options didn't look bad--I ordered a taro milk tea which contained real taro in it which was nice. However, the drink tasted as if it had extra sugar in it even though I asked for 50%--not sure if it's just the norm now to make things extra sweet and when customers ask for half, it's really actually the original intended sweetness. But I guess I'll stop here before I ramble more about my conspiracy theory. The store has a cashier up front and a kiosk to the side for easy ordering. QQ Mochi Milk Tea w boba: the boba was nice and fresh, but because it was a little warm, the drink ended up not being as cold as we preferred. It tasted good, though! Mango Genmaicha Latte: because the mango fell to the bottom of the cup, most of the flavor was there, so it was really sweet at the bottom and a little more tasteless at the top. My husband ordered the taro mochi milk tea and I ordered the mango genmaicha. We picked default sugar sweetness for both. Taro mochi milk tea - 5 This drink was soooo delicious I actually regret not ordering it! It came with authentic taro chunks and the softest mochis that melt in your mouth as you drank it. The drink tasted like real taro root and not like the powdery taro flavor some places have. It was not too sweet and the lovely, complex flavors of the taro really shone. Mango Genmaicha - 2 As you can see from my image, the actual mango genmaicha did not come with a lot of mango puree as compared to the menu. When I drank it, it tasted like super sweet and watered down genmaicha tea. Which was weird because my husband's taro drink wasn't as sweet and we both went with default sweetness. I couldn't even taste the mango. When I went back and asked for more mango puree, they were super nice about giving me more mango puree even though they had followed the recipe as they were taught. I think this was more an issue with deceitful advertising by the company which was out of the workers' control because their customer service was beyond amazing. I got a matcha and added lychee jelly and coconut pudding. It was okay, but something, maybe some of the pudding, had a sort of grainy consistency and seems to have maybe curdled. Granted, I picked it up and drank it maybe 20 minutes later, so I'll have to give it another shot and drink it right away. The staff was in the back and ignoring the front of the store and I had to wait a while and call out several times to get them to GC one and give me my drink, and explain several times my name and which service is ordered through. So pickup was frustrating and the drink wasn't great. But it was all fine. I'd be willing to try it again, but wouldn't be excited to and wouldn't especially recommend it. read more

This place has become my new favorite boba spot in less than a month. I came here with some friends about three weeks ago and have been addicted since. YOU HAVE TO TRY THE MOCHI MILK TEA. I like to get the drink without boba to enjoy just the drink and the mochi. The staff here are really nice and they are also really quick with service, the mochi is really soft and warm, once thing I would suggest is to make the mochi cut into smaller pieces to fit into the straw better. I got the taro mochi milk tea 50% sweet with boba and my sister got the momo mochi milk tea 50% sweet with red bean. The taro was good! The actual chunks of taro at the bottom were a plus and it wasn't super sweet. I think I would've been fine to get it at regular sweetness. Also they have milk replacement options so extra points for that! (I got oat milk) The boba wasn't great tbh. The texture was off and it wasn't warm, so it definitely wasn't fresh. The liquid mochi was interesting... I'm glad I tried it but I wouldn't get it again. You have to THOROUGHLY shake it if you want a good effect where you just get bits of it and it doesn't clog your straw. I love mochi but this wasn't my thing. I would've preferred actual mochi chunks in my drink lol but that's just personal preference. I think it's worth a try if you've never had it before. The momo tea was fine and the red bean was fine too. It felt kind of average though ~ nothing to write home about. I think full sweetness for this one would've been fine as well and not too much. Overall, it was pretty meh and we both didn't finish our drinks because the liquid mochi was just too much and not great. My sister felt a little nauseous after her drink but I felt fine. She's lactose intolerant so maybe they forgot to sub out her milk? Or maybe the liquid mochi has dairy in it? I'm not sure. Customer service was good and the interior was very cute. The drinks were descent, we both ordered the milk tea with mochi and boba. This was the first time I had drinkable mochi and it honestly confused my brain, and I'm not sure if I like it or hate it.
