Had a very pleasant dinner at Thyme Matters to celebrate another year on Planet Earth! The service was exemplary super dedicated and friendly. The new decor is feutre and sophisticated. The menu is rich in classics like your Filet Mignon Demi glace with truffle purée. The calamari or the Buffalo mozzarella salad. All dishes were well executed. The Demi glace could be improved in terms of texture and consistency. The cocktails were very good. Deserts are also rich but a little bit too proverbial for my taste. This said, there is lot to love at Thyme Matters with a good value that will not break your bank!

New owners! Thyme Matters had a complete upgrade! Wowsers! Really beautifully renovated. Same delicious food and guacamole freshly made to our liking. I would say the only loss is the drink menu; it definitely leaves much to be desired. Had the purple rain and it was okay. Would have loved a thymtini from previous drink menu. Otherwise, everything was wonderful!

A Fancy Westside Spot with Hits and Misses Thyme Restaurant, formerly Thyme Matters, has been reimagined by "a couple of couples" into a fine casual dining space on El Paso's Upper Westside. Their vision emphasizes good food, wine, and conversation in an upscale neighborhood setting. From the outside, the restaurant looks simple, but once inside, it leans more towards fine dining. I picked this spot last minute for a birthday lunch with friends, and we weren't exactly dressed for the occasion in our casual workout clothes. Upon arrival, I was surprised that they asked for a reservation despite the place being mostly empty, but they were able to seat me for three. As I waited, I noticed the clientele was mostly well-to-do older ladies and business professionals--a bit of a social schmoozing spot rather than a cozy neighborhood eatery. The atmosphere felt polished but slightly forced, and with only one waitress handling the entire first floor (while also setting tables with tablecloths), service was understandably slow. Food Breakdown (Best to Worst) Saku Tuna Ceviche ($19) - This was a standout! Fresh, flavorful, and elevated by the chipotle mole-style paste. I'd come back just for this. Hamachi Tiradito ($22) - Large, fresh slices of fish in a delicious ponzu sauce. Another winner. Baked Brie ($16) - Creamy and well-balanced with spiced pear chutney. Great for sharing, but I could've used more baguette slices. Mussels ($18) - Overcooked and overwhelmingly salty. They also forgot the bread, so we struggled to eat it on its own. Ribeye Sandwich ($18) - This was a disaster. The bread was rock-hard, and the meat was chewy, stringy, and dry. I wanted to send it back, but the waitress was already stretched thin. A friend later confirmed their ribeye sandwich experience was just as bad. My friend enjoyed her salad, mostly because of the dressing, but overall, the meal took a long time to arrive, making it clear that this is a leisurely lunch spot rather than a quick bite destination. Final Thoughts Come for the appetizers - They're about the same price as the entrées, but far superior in quality. Service is stretched thin - The staff works hard, but the restaurant seems understaffed for its level of formality. The ambiance is hit or miss - If you enjoy a country club-esque lunch vibe with business conversations around you, you'll fit right in. Not ideal for a casual meal or date night - It's more of a "ladies who lunch" or business meet-up spot. While I'm grateful for my friends taking me out, I don't see myself making this a regular go-to. The concept and execution don't fully match the "neighborhood gem" description they aim for. So haven't been home in a while and wanted to try something new and different being back. My girl came across this restaurant and we both couldn't be happy. From the start the place is not new but more of a hidden gem. Upon entering the room is so stunning and elegant. The starts were both tasty and one point, the tomato bisque soap was perfect and both our main entrees were simply perfect. The real start were the staff, Daniel our server was a rockstar. He never kept us waiting for anything but also understood that we were in no rush and allowed us to take our time making us feel welcomed. I'm live in Vegas now and am an Advanced Sommelier and honestly I spent 30mins loving and admiring the wine list. Such a perfect blend of mainstream and contemporary down to local wine options. This will be the place for wine lovers in El Paso! I can go on but if you haven't checked this place out it's an absolute must try!

The place is kinda hidden from the street but is a cute place. Let's get to the important stuff.. the food. So I went for a lunch meeting so we ordered 3 appetizers, though I did t get a photo of them because people had already started eating but we got the Poblano chile con queso, delish and not spicy at all for those who can't eat spicy food. As well as guac n chips- had a hint of lime and I love that and finally Ceviche. I wasn't a fan because it was more tomato than anything else. The tostadas are pretty good. My wife ordered the grilled salmon and it was good. Came with veggies and roasted potatoes which were cooked great and good size fish. I ordered the chicken parmigiana- I wouldn't order it again. The portion was perfect but the chicken was too flat and too crunchy for me. The cheese made it look delish but became hard and would come off like cooled off cheese. Didn't like that. I did taste their Tres leches cake... wow! So good. Service wasn't the greatest as our server was disappear for a bit... maybe he was helping cook, but not bad.

I was very impressed with this place. The corn soup and guacamole were incredible. I had a salmon, and it was cooked perfectly. Our server and hostess were very nice. Great experience overall!

It was a Friday night, we arrived around 8pm and the restaurant was so busy and full of life. Music was blasting, ranging from reggaeton, to regional mexicana/banda, to pop. The prices for the food and drinks were all super cheap as well, so we knew we'd be ordering multiple items. Probably the best item we had was the arrachera quesadilla (can't remember the actual name in the menu for it). Our waiter was a young guy, constantly coming by asking if we wanted to add on to our order. We had multiple rounds of tequila shots and some mixed drinks, but definitely felt like the liquor was watered down. Before we took off, we even danced a couple of songs, giving us a club feel. Overall we loved it so much we had decided to come back the following Tuesday with more family. Well....we were left so disappointed. Everything was completely different. We arrived around 10, figured it being a Tuesday before Christmas Eve, it wouldn't be too busy. It seems that it was a lot busier than the restaurant had expected because they were definitely understaffed. Our waiter probably took 20 minutes to come to us to take our drink order and when he finally did, he stood in one end of the table struggling to hear us from the opposite end over the loud music. Don't understand why he couldn't simply walk over to our side. We waited another 10 minutes to actually get the drinks and for him to come around again to take our food order. Since service was so slow, we tried going straight to the bar and get drinks there, but they wouldn't take our orders because they had to be placed with our waiter. Food was pretty much the same, with the exception of the kitchen running out of multiple items by 11:30. I would have given this place 5 stars on the first visit alone: cheap food and drinks (great food quality for the value), absolutely great ambiance and fast/attentive service. But because we came back again and had such terrible and slow service, I'm giving them 3 stars.

Each of us ordered a different entrée, and every dish was amazing. The food was fresh, flavorful, and prepared with care. We appreciated the positive interaction among the servers, cooks, and manager. Everyone made us feel comfortable and valued. Our server, Javoli E., provided excellent service, and the Old Fashioned he made was on point! Thank you to the entire Twisted Fork team for such an enjoyable experience. Quiet evening, an hour before closing, and the staff was ready for anything. Pretty venue. The chef welcomed our table. Great specials BTW. Especially Faculty Friday discounts. Delicate wrapper, crisp finish, chorizo and Italian sausage filling. And yet they were light. Sooooo good. Don't miss the lettuce wraps either. Beef, chicken, kim chi. Yum. We also ordered beef stroganoff (must order dish here), green chile Alfredo, whipped feta burger, and strawberry ginger salad. All are highly recommended. No tipping policy. Staff are paid appropriately. I 100% approve of that. If this place was in Austin or Houston it would have an hour wait for a table. Innovative food, great service, an engaged chef, and a pretty venue. Michelin star worthy if they ever visit EP.

We ordered the Steak Frites, Brussels sprouts, the burger, cocktails, and finished with the peach cobbler and every single thing was amazing. Hostess was very warm and welcoming. Our server was friendly but rushing around and needed to slow down. He ended up bringing us the wrong wine.
