The most caring, supportive animal facility in the South Sound. The people and volunteers have the biggest hearts for all animals. The employees go above and beyond for their animals - it's a beautiful and loving place. Thank you for all you do!

I found out later the dog was returned to its owner. Was not even a stray. What a mess.

Kitty Klinic - For after hour emergencies, call....

    Kitty Klinic

We recently had a terrible experience with the Kitty Klinic in Lacey…read more When my 11 year old cat was coughing about 7 weeks ago, I took him in to be checked and due to negligence and/or incompetence and/or errors, he was seriously misdiagnosed with asthma and was given prednisolone which most likely worsened his underlying condition. When I called them after 3 weeks because his cough wasn't improving, they said it could just take some time and recommended that I increase the prednisolone. We took him to another vet and by then he was already in critical condition with full blown congestive heart failure. We had to choose within a week between subjecting him to ongoing ER visits and daily multiple medications or euthanasia. We knew he would not do well in the ER, so we made the agonizing decision to euthanize him. If I had known then what I have since learned, I would have realized that the diagnosis was incorrect. How can a vet see a significant weight loss and an enlarged heart on an x-ray and make the diagnosis of Asthma?? A cough, weight loss and an enlarged heart are all common symptoms of CHF. They did not suggest an echocardiogram or any other tests or follow up care. We will never know what the outcome would have been if the correct diagnosis had been made initially, but it really couldn't have been worse. Because I couldn't be in the room with him, they couldn't ask me questions about his behavior, eating habits, or anything else that could have assisted with a diagnosis. Cats hide pain very well. How could they possibly get all the information they needed from the cat? In retrospect it seems unconscionable to me that they will not allow any communication with the owner while they are examining our pets. The only communication you can have with the vet is when she calls you. I have to assume that they are hiding something and do not want us to see what is going on behind their closed door. If you need care for your cats, take them somewhere else.

We were told he was very sick. Possibly kidney failure. In order to find out for sure we would need to have testing done which was very costly. I asked if we decided to have the testing done could he be cured and she said no. So I asked if it would be cruel to bring him home with meds to keep him comfortable until we decided what to do. She said that would be fine. My brother had just passed away and I was overwhelmed. Once we were home with his meds he seemed to be doing okay. We brought him to the lake to wade. He seemed to enjoy it. Things seemed to not change so I called to see if we could get a refill of his pain meds. I went and picked them up. That evening, I went to give him his medication from the ones I picked up that day. That's when I discovered they were for another dog. It was Apoquel for itch. I didn't discover it until that evening, and it was too late to have it corrected. He cried all night without his medication. It was horrible. We brought him in early the next day and had him put to sleep. They took him away and said they would bring him back as soon as they got the iv in. They said nothing about giving him any medications. They put us in a room and shortly after they brought him in on a gurney. He was passed out from the medication, and we never had an opportunity to say our goodbyes. All we got was a quick sorry from the lady behind the desk. When I told the vet how upset I was about the medication mix-up, she said your dog is very sick. Probably kidney failure. Not, I'm sorry Takodah suffered. When we got his ashes and foot impressions back it had the wrong name. So now engraved on his ash box is the wrong name. We were told he was very sick. All we wanted was medication for a few more days to keep him comfortable, so we give him love and spend time together. It was such a horrible way let our dog go. I will forever remember my dog crying out in pain. This should have never happened! I do not advise you to use this animal hospital.
