This Vet Hospital is a God send. Today we had to say goodbye to our 18 yr old cat Chloe due to Kidney disease. They got us in same day and immediately into a room. The lead Vet assistant walked us through the entire process. Everyone including the Vet were compassionate. They allowed us to spend as much time with her as we needed to say our goodbyes. I have been a patron at Mountain View for the last two years, I have taken my dog and cats here. To start they constantly make you wait in the waiting room for an extended period of time. Once you are finished with your pets exam you then have to wait for another extended period of time to even be able to check out (it's taken us 15 minutes to check out). My dog is fearful of vets and doesn't do great with them unfortunately. This has been the only vet he has ever gone too. I understand it must be scary as a vet or vet tech to handle an animal who is fearful, but I do not feel like they tried to work with my dog or try to understand why is he anxious at the vet. Especially since his vet anxieties developed at their clinic. My dog has no issues with groomers whatsoever. I would have appreciated for more insight on how to improve his anxieties. The vet also made us feel like it was our fault and we should be embraced with his behavior. In addition, when my dog was neutered, I very nervous about his stitches heeling. I have a corgi so he is very short and was neutered during the rainy season. I was worried about him getting his stitches infected. One day I was looking at his stitches and saw some dry blood and pretty bad bruising. I called them curious if this was normal. The receptionist was not kind at all and made me feel bad for even bothering them. I was upset as I have never neutered a dog before and this was all new to me. The prices for the prescription medication is also ridiculous here. If you need prescriptions for your pets I highly recommend just using Chewy.com and do not buy from here. This vet is, also, clearly sponsored by the dog food brands they carry. It's a bad sign when a vet only recommends the food they are sponsored by. I do not recommend this vet, we had a much more positive experience taking our cats to companion just up the road. read more

I am updating my review based on the last year of services and obvious changes that the team has made. 1. The payment process. Waiting for invoice and payment has improved greatly. The staff have made process improvements to speed this process up and not delay customers for lengthy times after services are rendered. Well done!! 2. The staff. I think the staff have matured in the office and are caring, empathetic, and thoughtful during a stressful time for both owners and pets. 3. I have always appreciated the doctors who are all excellent. We have had a few difficult visits this year and I am back in love with the clinic that care for my fur baby family. Our dog became suddenly incapacitated, and we decided euthanasia was the kindest option for her. Dr. Desselle, who had not previously seen our dog, treated our dog with the kindest, gentlest, and most respectful care that our dog had received in her entire life, from any vet. Dr. Desselle made it so much easier for us to say good-bye to our beloved dog, and made our final memories with our girl rest gentler. Dr. Desselle's bedside manner was as kind to us as it was to our dog, and she explained our options clearly. In our moment of great sorrow we also were treated very caringly by the front desk staff and the backroom staff, even though it was the end of the day and surely everyone was tired eager to go home. Cannot recommend this clinic. They completely misdiagnosed our pet with an infected tooth and helped us set up a dental appointment for several weeks out. Our dog gagging symptoms increased over the next couple of weeks, and then she stopped eating. We took her to a different vet, and after a quick look in her mouth, let us know she had a tumor in her throat. At that point, the only option was to put her down. I'm very disappointed in this vet. Not only was the staff very caring throughout our last days with Fresno, they were extremely thoughtful after his passing. We received this card in the mail today which was completely unexpected. When I thought my rescue dislocated her jaw, this was the first clinic who would see us. They were the 13th place I called after our regular vet and several ERs. Reception got me squeezed in same day and I requested all 3 of my fur babes be transferred over after our visit. I was treated, start your finish, like I took my sweetie to my best friends house. My girl was a FIRST TIME patient and the vet tech came to my car and asked "are you *doggo's* mom?" My previous vet would ask "and who do we have here?" after 3 yrs of using them, with 3 unique pups. The company culture, from my experience, is of genuine care. They care for your fur baby the exact same way they would theirs. My only regret is not starting with them. read more

Hello Rhonda thank you for responding to my review. What drove me to find another vet is your receptionist staff. They are the face of your business. they don't greet you when you come in with your dog you end up standing in front of a counter and having to tell them what you were there for and then when they look up from their computer screen they might they might say something but they act and appear as if they don't wanna be there or are so burdened and busy that it's a nuisance for them this rubs off on us as clients because an unhappy receptionist or an unfriendly one means there are systemic issues with the clinic. When I checked out recently for my dogs I was told to have a seat and that was it 30 minutes later I didn't have an update so I went to the desk and had to ask them for a time frame or if I might need to come back another day as I had to go back to work. The response from one of the receptionist was well every visit is different. After another 10 minutes passed I came up to the front again and asked if I could be given a timeframe so I can make a determination if I can go back to work by waiting a few minutes more or come back another day. All in all the veterinarians and assistant staff are great but your receptionist are killing the vibe and good work they do in this business read more

lf you want your beloved furry family member treated with kindness, love and respect then this is the only Veterinary hospital I can stand behind 100% with all the confidence. they have amazing loving doctors and a manager that gives her heart to your individual situation, almost as if it is her own. they approach matters with a trauma informed approach and empathy in spades. yesterday I had to say goodbye to my elderly Persian cat. He was failing and it was his time. I was broken. crushed. I got there and they were discrete, kind, and supportive. The doctor was gentle, kind and explained the entire process euthanasia to me. it went exactly as explained and I could tell my kitty was comfortable and at peace through the process. The Doctor was so loving as if he was her cat and I was so comforted by that. The manager was swift with paperwork and payment and allowed me the ability to just spend time with my cat in his final moments. the space was respected and it was about us - not the process. it felt authentic and comforting in what is a very tough and emotional process. My pet passed away three months ago. They were unable to see him, even though I was an existing long time customer. I had to go somewhere else. They keep contacting me through text message and email that my pet has upcoming vaccinations and care needed. I have told them three times over the phone, he had passed away due to heart failure. Apparently, nothing has changed. Insensitive and heartless. I've taken my name off the list and spoke to people over the phone about removing him. However, it just keeps coming. I've been a loyal client for about 8 years. During COVID i have been able to be inside with my special needs son. They never had an issue!!! Today out of nowhere they say he is not allowed in only one person. This is his legit service dog that he struggles without especially in car. We have always gone inside; yes, even during COVID. They denied to give us "reasonable accommodations" according to ADA LAW. This place has turned in to a money making office and no longer is the caring place we used to go to for years. Being new to town, I was so happy to find this place. They were recommended by our groomer when I told him of our struggles to get into a vet during our first month living here. We had a senior boy who started to have some health issues, and I got in the same day I called. The next evening, his issues got more severe, so in a panic I called 15 min. before they closed. They told me they would stay and to come right away. We ended up having to put our dear, sweet boy to sleep that night, but the amount of care and compassion shown by everyone we had contact with was incredible. Dr. D. explained everything to us and was so understanding. They stayed an hour past closing and never once made us feel like we were being an inconvenience. Losing a pet is one of the worst feelings in the world, and she did all she could to ease that loss. My dog has been a patient of record there for over 10 years, I sat outside the place for two hours waiting for a doctor to get in so that my dog could be seen for an emergency visit as she was declining fast, when the doctors were supposed to arrive I called again and suddenly they changed and said they could not see her they couldn't fit her in, I begged them told him my dog was suffering she's been a patient there for a long time, I find it absolutely absurd they will not prioritize a long time patient who is suffering, over routine visits. After adopting a 9 year old rescue dog four months ago, I've had PLENTY of experience with Mountain View Veterinary Hospital and multiple veterinarians there, and in particular, Hunter's primary vet, Dr. Corrine Hines. Hunter has has a general check up and shots, treatment for multiple ear infections and a tapeworm, a review after an emergency room visit for an eye problem, surgery to remove his testes and remove one testicular sac that had a tumor on it, biopsy of two skin lumps, and removal of 10 of his teeth! (I only paid $25 for him to get him out of a bad situation but now I call him my $4,000 dog!) I've always had the feeling he was in safe hands during surgery and back office exams (like ear washes) and the vets are good at calling you about things that happen (like they are reviewing lab test results) and when there's a choice before or during surgery that might wrack up an extra charge. They have a reasonable Covid policy (I was allowed in with a mask for visits but not for stich removal or surgery) and I have appreciated being able to meet the vets in person. Dr. Hines in particular was recommended to me by someone that saw her in her Aberdeen area office prior to coming to Mt. View, driving hours each way to see her. I do wish I could tell if the people who answer the phone know what they are talking about or not. Some seem quite knowledgeable and some not so much, but I assume this is standard among vet practices. The clinic's charges are quite reasonable, I think, especially compared to a high-priced clinic near my home. Neutering does cost upwards of $400 including the necessary labs and visit, which is much less than going to a special neutering clinic in Tacoma, but it is on par or less than the price around Olympia, so I don't hold that against them! Mt. View didn't get all of Hunter's $4,000, a lot of that went to the animal e.r. and some for kennelling, etc. They only got what I consider a reasonable amount. read more

I ended up being a walk in at the Mountain View veterinary hospital after our primary turned us away during open hours on a Saturday:( but luckily we found this gem! The front end staff checked us in right away, even giving me the option of an urgent appointment...slightly more expensive, or an appointment an hour and a half out. I was with two kiddos and a crazy lab who put a hole in her head on the corner of a trailer. So we opted for the urgent, we were in and out within 40 mins. Both Dr. Hook and her technician were over the top friendly, knowledgeable, and made us feel very welcome. They took great care of our Moosey girl, thank you so much Mountain View Veterinary Hospital! You just made yourself some new patients! For the cost of our appointment, I felt it was fair and reasonable. Everything about this clinic just felt right. I have worked in a vet clinic in the past and am familiar with how they run for the most part. I highly recommend this clinic! read more

Dr Hook and Staff are amazing, caring and go the extra mile for your Veterinary needs. They took such good care of us and made each of our frequent visits a pleasure even in unpleasant times. Our cat Biff needed a lot of care in his elderly years and they were definitely top notch each visit. It turns out it is an upsell. They just don't do it when you first start seeing them. Their prescriptions are OVERPRICED. I don't think they liked that that I insisted on taking prescriptions to Rite-Aid. One of the prescriptions isn't available at Rite-Aid so I have paid their exorbitant prices even though I could get it cheaper at PetMeds.com. I asked for assistance grooming these guys (not necessarily Mountain View would do it) and they wanted me to pay for another appointment immediately before they would even give me an answer or a price quote if they would do it. I planned on going back to them and buying their expensive medicine for my 16 year old dog when she runs out in about a month and paying for the exam which is kind of useless for a 16 year old dog (if she lives that long) because I wouldn't treat anything for a dog that old but they wouldn't even do a referral or anything in the meantime. I don't know what I am going to do but I'm not happy with their response. What I liked about them was that they seemed to respect that I wanted but now it seems as if they do not. read more

Mountain View Vet is the best place to take your dog or cat. I have been taking my cocker spaniel there for the past 2 and a half years. When Tucker walks in to the vet it is like he is a little VIP. He is ushered in quickly, the staff is very personable and they always have Tucker's best interest in mind. This place is definitely worth checking out. It would have been a nice gesture to comp his repeat shot, had it been a timely offer at the time of the error. Sadly it is 2 months too late. When the vet called to tell me the original vaccine used was expired, they said do a repeat in 3 weeks. That would have been June 23, 2016. Hawks Prairie Vet was able to get the ImRab3-TF by 7/1/16, so I had to pay for a new client exam and shot. I couldn't keep putting this off because I didn't want to end up with a one year rabies shot. So, too little, too late. read more

Very unprofessional office staff and manager. Tons of turnover and has been sold and taken over by a large conglomeration. We have seen this business go from a caring vet, to a place where money is the bottom line, pet care is not. They look for any way possible to charge you for unneeded expenses and when you need emergency care and wait all weekend to try to see your vet and save the emergency vet fees, don't call them, they can only fit you in if you pay the $160 emergency care fee they have started charging. Way to care for animals! You may as well go to the emergency vet hospital as you may save money! They can't fit you in even if you are THEIR patient, unless you pay that fee. Money opens slots up strangely enough. That's just not right. Money has become all this vet hospital cares about. They will let your animal suffer unless you are wealthy and willing to pay their crazy prices. Our advice, find a different vet, this one does not have your pet's best interest in mind. read more

Not long ago we took in a stray kitty. we wanted to get her vaccinated and spayed and brought her to Mountain view as they have treated 2 other cats in our household, but I will no longer bring any of my babies to this horrendous vet. She was spayed October 14, and just a couple days later we brought her back in lethargic and vomiting. Her body temp was nearly 10 degrees too low and she had a blockage in her urethra, raising her potassium levels which is bad for the heart. if we hadn't brought her in she would have died. we were told to take her to Blue Pearl in Tacoma who located sutures in her urethra that were done during the spay. they removed the sutures during surgery and held her for 8 days while she recovered and they monitored to see if she could pee on her own. it was the most terrifying and stressful time because I didnt know if she would ever recover. She has been home for a week today and still struggles to pee at times. she will squat for extended periods trying to pee and sometimes little or nothing comes out, and other times she can pee. Mountain View accepted responsibility but it is sheer negligence to suture the urethra closed. today we brought her in to have her sutures removed and the staff couldnt even apologize for all of this. I wouldn't want anyones pet to go through what mine did. read more

Our doggie was old, and we are new in town. When we got her she was 3, and Dory was with us 14 years ,. She died at age 17. She was our best friend and companion and we miss her. She was healthy up to her last month, then MVVH helped us through a crisis, and we got to enjoy our Dory for 2 more weeks. The staff was wonderful--they know how traumatic it is--they made us comfortable and made sure Dory didn't suffer. PLEASE be careful if you use Mountain View Veterinary Hospital in Lacey, WA. We took in our dog for routine vaccinations. Turns out he had some weight loss so we had routine blood work run. After getting the results the vet decided we should get an x-ray which cost a little over $150.00 plus an ultrasound which would run $400.00. She also strongly pushed for a biopsy in which we were told could run an additional $400 up to $1000.00. Although she did expect it wouldn't be a full $1000. I felt uncomfortable explaining that we were not able to spend that amount of money considering treatment might cost a lot depending on diagnosis. The vet was rather pushy and I left feeling like a bad pet owner. I then took my dog to another vet clinic right away who viewed Mountain View Vets x-rays. She did NOT believe his problem was due to his liver. The 2nd vet clinic immediately thought it was his in active heart failure. She was correct. Our dog needed to be put down roughly 3 weeks after being seen by Mountain View Vet. I've since talked to a few pet store owners who told me they also had been in the same situation regarding completely inaccurate diagnoses as well as the pushiness to run expensive tests that were not the root cause of the problem. PLEASE be careful if you utilize Mountain View Veterinary Hospital. read more

They kept throwing antibiotics at my cat, when it was pretty clear that was not the answer and poo-poo'd my suggesting that we should put her on pro-biotics after all the antibiotics.
