The groomers at this place aren't terrible but they are NEVER consistent. I've taken my Pomeranian here three times total. The first time, they barely cut anything and still charged me for a full service. I took the L and just assumed that maybe I wasn't clear enough on what I wanted. The second time, we had Kristina and I told her that I wanted a teddy bear cut with a "poop shoot" to prevent him from getting dingle berries. She did an amazing job! This time around, when we brought him in, they asked if we wanted the same thing he had last time and they completely botched it! I can't do anything but laugh because he's still so cute but they did an awful job. He looks like he has a choppy bob????? The only reason I didn't give one star is because they are always consistent in making sure he's clean and that he smells good but they are never consistent with the haircuts. read more

Groomer Kim at petsmart in Lacey Wa is a compassionate miracle worker! My 10yr old 90 pound samoyed with medical issues and anxiety loud barking when he's at groomers or vet. Kim provided my dog the best grooming experience he has had so far. It was fast 3.5 hours total, and that's fast for how huge my dog is plus the matting he had and how much extra work was needed. Kim made miracles happen in no time at all. I will definitely be going back. Thanks for the great experience. I will never let Kimberly W groom my Yorkies ever again! She did a TERRIBLE grooming job on my little guy Baxter, I asked for a Yorkie Teddy Bear cut and asked her to go a little shorter on his face and over his eyes. I got a shaved head with a bald spot from where she went to low with the clippers and a a big chunk of hair missing on his left ear. When I explained that this wasn't what I asked for, she gave me attitude and said "That's what you asked for" and then I explained to her that is NOT what I asked for and that I wasn't happy at all with the haircut. She then paged for a manager and toof him that we needed to do a Puppy Credit or refund, she never once apologized for the bad haircut and continued on to the next customer. This was by far the worst customer service I have ever received at PetSmart Grooming and she will NEVER groom either of my boys again. I made a grooming appointment for my dog since he's been having some dingleberry issues due to some nerve pain and him being scared to squat to poop. He just received grooming the month prior and his coat was still fairly loose and clean since he basically lives outside and hates being indoors. Not to mention the week prior I gave him a bath myself to get some of the poop out of his fur since he was now medicated with pain killers after a vet visit and was pooping like normal again but still had some left over poop. I take him in and the groomer says he has some matting deep in his fur and I explain the above information and she asks if it's okay to spot shave if needed and I agree since that can be an issue over time but I wasn't expecting it to be an issue since he was recently groomed and I gave him a bath even more recently. They called after a few hours and said he's all bathed and they're gonna start combining him out etc. And asked about trimming him down if needed and I agreed and said we talked about spot shaving him if it was needed so that's fine to do if they needed to still. I come to pick him up after I get the call and he's completely shaved. No spot shaving, just straight shaved down. And the person helping me has no clue what happened since she just got there. I show her before pictures to show her why I was confused and explained to her as well that he was just groomed the month prior. All in all, there no way in hell he needed to be shaved and wasn't even that dirty to end up like he did. read more

With a puppy, it's time to shop! PetSmart is normally a little far to drive, but they have the selection of dog foods and supplies that the grocery store doesn't offer. It had been awhile since shopping there, and I was impressed by the high quality brands they have for dogs and puppies. Cats too. I spent some time browsing different brands before making a purchase. Wellness, Nulo, Merrick, Solid Gold and many top of the line foods are available in their well stocked isles. They have a nice selection of canned foods, along with collars, leashes, shampoos, chew bones and toys. Everything you need at a good price. It's worth the drive. read more

I made an appointment for my (2) Germans Shepherds to be groomed. I spoke with a young lady earlier in the week, and asked if my female being muzzles, would be an issue. She stated that they can have not muzzle for 20-minutes. I said that would be fine, and assumed everything was ok. This morning, morning of the grooming, I received a call stating that there would be an issue with muzzling my female. The groomers demeanor and attitude was unprofessional and unacceptable. I stated I spoke with someone when I booked, and it was my understanding it was worked out. My first thought is why are you waiting an hour before my appointment!? When I arrived at Petsmart, there was a groomer speaking to another groomer about my dog. Complaining and unprofessional. When she finished, I asked was there an issue with my dog? She stated, "no...I told you on the phone the dog couldn't be muzzled more than 20-minutes, and I didn't care for the way you spoke to me on the phone..." Again, very unprofessional and unbecoming. I stated, "I will take my pets elsewhere..." and departed. I would not let that young lady take care of my pest issues, best yet my pets. Everytime I take my pet to this PetSmart for a wash and clean up she comes back still smelling the way she did when going in as well as looking like they put her in a kennel and left her for three hours while we were away. I give this Petsmart a 3.5. I agree with everyone that it's nice to have the Banfield hospital in the store and I like the kitty cats for adoption in the front. They have a really good variety in the selection and there are some moderately good prices on some items, but I do find that a lot of the food is pricey and I've read some of the labels and a lot of the food is exactly the same, just more pricey on some. They do have the type of food that some want with the organics and etc. There pet beds and cages are a pretty good price too. And there are so many doggy treats & nagahides. It's also nice to be able to take your pet in with you. Although since my daschund is so sexy, she practically get's raped everytime we go in. So now I take my male doxie in for her protection. They have a good selection of fish and birds and cat foods. Makes me want to get a kitty cat. They even have doggy doo bags just in case your little lumps make little lumps in the grass. I only gave 3.5 stars because I can find a lot of the same items elsewhere for less money. Also, I had a hard time finding someone to help me when I need help in the dog section. read more

We took our golden doodle in for a bath & brush (which included nail trim, ear cleaning, paw trim & sanitary trim). When we got the call to notify us that she was ready, the lady informed me that they would be charging me extra because our dog was "extremely" wiggly and they had more than one person working on her to make sure she wouldn't get hurt. Simply said okay because I know that happens & it makes sense. We picked our dog up, and drove home. We always place some pee pads/cardboard to make sure if she has an accident it stays there and not on the truck. When we got her down we noticed the cardboard was bloody. She was bleeding from her paw. We called and informed them about the situation. Their response was "she wasn't bleeding here. Are you sure she didn't hurt herself". We literally had picked her up 10 mins ago?? We drove back to show them exactly where she was bleeding from and the lady said that somehow the concrete must of cut her quick(nerve in her nail) and that's how she started bleeding. If so my dog would have been in pain when it happened. I know this happens a lot when dogs get their nails trimmed. I personally used to work at a pet store. So I know that you have to be honest when things like this happen. As well as treating it with styptic powder. I'm sure it was an accident made by the groomer but the fact that she didn't take accountability is something else. For instance, she proceeded to ask if we cut her nails at home since they seemed short. Respectfully we said no, because is that was the case we wouldn't have the need to bring her in for grooming services in the first place. And we literally just had picked her up from there, where nail trim service was included in the service we paid for so of course the nails were going to be short. We left very unhappy. The fact that they charged us extra for a "dog special care fee" and still managed to hurt our dog is ridiculous. To look at us and say "she probably hit herself with the asphalt" like if we're dumb enough to believe that is unacceptable. A simple act of accountability and an apology would have been enough for us. read more

So I just took my pet to this location for grooming. He hasn't been groomed for a little while since the covid fun. I trimmed his hair down a little and brushed him btw. So first of all the grooming manager was rude. We told her we don't want our miniature poodle to look like a rat when we are paying $80 for grooming!! We could easily cut his hair down to his skin at home. Btw I called and spoke to the store manager and he passed me off to the grooming manager without telling me he was doing that! Avoid this place!!! Very rude Update... so I just got my dog back they charged me $8 extra for combing and dematting. So the total bill for shaving our miniature poodle down to the skin! $81 plus tax!! I can do the same at home for free!!! I will never take him here again!! I took my dog in Wednesday to get groomed . After 3 and a half hours I picked up my dog. My dog looked like he wanted to get out as soon as possible. My dog looked terrified as if he had been abused. My dog still looks an acts as he has been traumatized in some way. I am going to call the store manager and file a complaint about their groomer Darian. I am not sure who to call at this time, if I don't get some answers from the manager my next step will be to SPCA. Just a warning to anyone that this could happen to your pet. read more

I took my pup in for a nail trim. Decided to get the "pawdicure" package which on the sign said it came with a nail trim, ear cleaning, spritz spray, pad shaving, and a bandana. When I went to go get my pup he didn't have a bandana so I asked and the lady said that was only for the "plus". I pointed out that the sign said it was the $22 pawdicure. And she shrugged her shoulders and said oh I don't know. My dogs nails look awful, dewclaw is not cut, his ears didn't get cleaned, nor did the pads get shaved. Very unfortunate. The entire atmosphere was off, dog hair all over the ground. The two women inside were very off putting. I do not recommend taking your pup here even just for a nail trim. read more

Writing this post because I am highly disappointed with the grooming service my dog received today. This was her first time going to a groomer because she is terrified of new places. However, she was actually really good and even bonded to the lady who took her back so I felt really comfortable with her being there. Four hours later, I went to pick her up. The ladies inside were different ladies from the morning. When they brought my dog out, she looked way more terrified than when she went in. Which was weird to me because she was really pretty calm going in. She was so nervous the lady who brought her out asked me to put my dogs bandana & stuff on. I told her she wasn't aggressive or reactive in any way but still proceeded to do it. As I was, I noticed she still kind of smelt like dog and not of any "spritz" or shampoo that they say they use. When I got home I inspected her more and realized how disappointing this whole thing really was. My dogs nails are TORE UP. Splitting, cracking, uneven and some look irritated already. She also has a spot of dry blood on the whites of her paws so I don't doubt they made her bleed. She had dandruff (I think) on her coat & now she is limping probably because her nail beds hurt her. So in total I paid $75 for my dog to be hurt. read more

This is my second time using their grooming service and both times completely horrific. This time I stood outside waiting for them to get in for the day. They walked past me without an acknowledgment. Then they came out and told me they would have to completely shave my golden doodle. I admit since Covid-19 my in home grooming skills weren't the best but she wouldn't even consider anything else. The very worst customer I've ever experienced. She continued telling me I could leave and go somewhere else and I was just asking her to not completely shave my dog. Then she completely walked away and said I can't deal with her to the co worker. I have worked retail for almost 20 years and if I ever heard one of our associates speak to someone that way I would immediately address it. The sad thing is the manager witnessed the whole thing. I will never go back... And will make sure I tell everyone I know about this. To be completely honest my dog didn't look too bad. But the level of customer service is really bad. read more

On February 20, 2020 after searching high and low to find a Russian Turtle for my son's 8th birthday, we finally find one in this store. He was so excited and I was excited for him. His turtle Snippy was 1 of three turtles in the litter (the only male). A representative was very helpful in showing us what to buy and recommending supplies. $180 later, we took our new pet home. We watched him diligently, fed him the recommended food, and ensured he had a bath, the right humidity, and proper light. Today my son woke up distraught because Snippy has died. As you may understand with all of the anxiety, schools closing, and spending more time in the house... he looked forward to feeding, talking to, and watching Snippy throughout the day. Now I have to find a way to console him after only having his pet for 1 1/2 mos. Truly hard for him. I called Petco because I shop at both Petco and Petsmart for our Gecko Lizard. The representative on the phone at Petco was so helpful and was offering to do a refund... when I gathered my thoughts and receipt only to realize it was Persmart. Petsmart was one of the few stores in town that carried Russian turtles and after looking at my receipt, supplies, and half a bag of bark and half carton of food - I recalled how we were happy to finally find our turtle at Petsmart as the additional supplies were all still sitting inside the Petsmart bag. Needless to say, when I called Petsmart to explain the unfortunate event and to gather more information about whether they were aware of sickness with the other turtles perhaps- the "associate" that answered the phone was less than empathetic. I was told that I should have done my research and there is a 14 day policy. It's amazing to me that without even seeing my receipt or face, Petco was willing to go above and beyond to assist us. I wasn't expecting Petco to offer a refund, I thought maybe a store credit or something of that sort given the circumstance (when I originally called Pet But, our turtle came from PetSmart. There was no empathy. No offer of in-store credit, simply - an empty excuse of what could have happened. I am so disappointed in Petsmart, their lack of consistency in service, and am quiet upset about the whole experience. I suppose there is a lesson in everything. I'll stick with Petco from now on. read more

At Petsmart the bag now runs $7.29. For a store that specializes in selling pet food you would think they would be competitive on price but since they are not I will not be in again unless they have a really good sale. We scheduled an appointment to have our dog groomed at this PetSmart. When we called to see if they could get him in any earlier they explained that the groomer was very busy, so we could bring our dog in and he could wait in a kennel until they could squeeze him in. It was kind of them to attempt to accommodate us but we have found our dog gets anxious at the groomer when kept in a kennel for too long. I explained this to the person on the phone and stated that we would just wait until his scheduled appointment time... to which they responded 'well, even if you bring him then, he'll have to wait.' --- why bother with appointment times if you're just going to shove my dog in a crate and get to him when you get to him. We cancelled the appointment and will have our dog groomed elsewhere. But seriously -- our dog is like our child. I think this is true of many dog owners -- so, I think they should seriously consider how they interact with a member of our family. read more

I got to pet smart quite frequently as a hamster mom. I recently decided to start thinking about a snake, so I went to Petsmart to see what they offer. I absolutely love looking at the animals, so I went ahead and was looking at the hamsters. I already disagree with how they handle them, the wheels they provide are dangerous, and not a lot of chewing items. I was disgusted when I saw a poor hamster desperately trying to find a way out. No wheel, nothing to chew on. The igloo hide was terrible (the hamster had chewed on it from boredom. ) I felt so bad that I ended up buying it. I asked the man how old she was and he told me he didn't know. I asked him to put bedding, some food, and maybe something small for her to chew on, as it will be a 30 minute drive plus the time it takes for me to buy the hamster items for her. He told me I didn't need anything and she would be fine. I then Rudely told him that I wanted bedding and one or two pieces of food. ( I need bedding for her new enclosure, so it smells like her and she feels safe ) I asked him where all of her necessities in the cage were and he didn't know, and did not seem to care that this poor little girl was suffering. He asked me if I wanted to hold her before putting her in the box, and I said yes. I asked if she had been handled frequently or not and he responded no. I soon as I held her, she immediately stopped scratching and freaking out. In fact she cozied up in my hand. Which is not normal for a hamster that isn't tamed. The whole car ride home she was freaking out and trying to find any way to escape (ignoring the new chew toys I put in the box with her) and the second I held her she was calm. She eventually started taking notice of the toys, and was chewing on it so much to the point that I almost threw it out when I got home. I checked her teeth and sure enough, they were almost overgrown. Since I've gotten her, you can tell she has definitely calmed down and feels a lot safer in the enclosure. I am truly disappointed in Petsmart for not taking care of their animals properly. I am still debating whether or not to show up again at their store. I know loosing one customer is not a big deal for them, but I loved shopping there. This is not the companies fault completely, but it definitely is an employee/management problem. I don't know if I'm going to keep lily, but definitely don't plan on selling her back to the chain store, and definitely won't be buying from them in that specific location unless I need something desperately. read more

Kim calls me back less than 30 minutes to inform me that my dog has a sore on her left leg and they would not be able to move forward with her grooming. Will never go here again! Took my dog in yesterday am for a bath and groom. The groomer didn't notice me at first. She was talking very mean to the dog she was currently grooming. She was trimming the hair around the webbing of his/her feet and the dog would flinch. (Seemed like an automatic response) and she would grab the dogs foot and say STOP very rudely. No reassurance to the dog. I thought the dog was doing a wonderful job. When she finally noticed me, she greeted me but kept grooming the dog still mumbling crappily to the dog. I looked at the cards with the groomers names and pic and got her name, got on the app and looked up who was assigned to groom my dog and it was her! There wasn't any way I was going to let her touch my dog. She then took the dog to the back and when she went through the door she was saying mean, hateful things to the dog and I walked out. In hindsight, I wish I had spoken up for the dog so if anyone had their darker corgi looking dog groomed there yesterday am, I am sorry. Called at 9:30 am on 12/28/21 to make certain the dog food I ordered was still available. I ordered the food on Dec 26, 2021, 8:46 AM and the woman on the phone said yes and that I had 72 hours to pick it up before it is returned. I said I want to make absolutely certain before I go out in this crap (snow and ice). I said I would be there after work. I also, called back at 3pm to check store hours and the recording said open until 9pm. When I got there, after work, there was a sign on the door that said closed at 4 pm. There was another family walking up to the door with their dog and they had driven from Shelton. Not ONCE did anyone mention they would be closing early nor did they say anything to the folks, who called on the phone as well, driving up from Shelton...I understand that there is inclement weather but, you need to tell your customers what's going on.
