Someone gave me a Petsmart gift card and it took me forever to use it because they don't carry any foods I would feed my cat. They didn't even have any interesting cat toys. I ended up buying over-priced cat dishes. Pet food selection is seriously lacking; all you'll find is the type you can find at the grocery store. Go to Mud Bay Granary! They offer a vast selection of far better food - much healthier for your pet AND less expensive. Besides, it's nice to support local business. read more

I've visited this location several times and have had both good and bad experiences. The customer service can be hit or miss; some of the associates are energetic and outgoing while a few are less than desirable and can be a bit rude. This is one reason why I don't frequent this store as often and do most of my pet shopping elsewhere. The selection of cat food and dog food is vast, but sometimes they are much higher than area competitors such as PETCO. It helps if you have their PetPerks rewards card because they offer sales each week for their members. They also have a good selection of products for birds, small pets, and exotic pets as well as pets for sale. There are veterinary services on site through the Banfield Pet Hospital. PetSmart also carries prescription pet food that you can't get at other stores although a prescription is required for purchase. There are also grooming services and adoption services on site. You can certainly bring your four-legged friend into the store with you, and sometimes the cashier will even give them a treat. The return policy is quite strict with little to no flexibility. They accept returns for 60 days after purchase; after that they typically won't accommodate you. They will not accept any returns or exchanges without a receipt, so keep your receipt! They can do a receipt lookup for credit card transactions but there's no way to track cash purchases. I'm not sure about tracking gift cards. There's plenty of onsite parking and restrooms for customers. No military discount, so be sure to get the loyalty card for the best prices. read more

Sales floor wise always neat and organized. Friendly staff there, always asking if I need any help with anything. The cashier to the right always greets you when you walk in. Sad to see their aquatics selection has been cut a bit but their fish always look healthy. Grooming department wise, they are extremely rude when you call. I was inquiring how they go about nail trims. My dog is not good for it, I willingly admit that, however I wanted to see if possibly they could do it before having to sedate him everytime (hes getting up there in age). The woman was rude answering all my questions and concerns like I was wasting her time. Rudely claiming theyd have to muzzle him, which I was fine with, but she couldnt promise anything if other places couldnt trim his nails. And then she just hung up on me without a goodbye or anything! I did go into grooming with my dog just hoping maybe I caught that lady on a bad day. They couldnt do my dogs nails, which I was understanding about. The girl who tried was really nice and understanding about why I wanted to try. We've got two dogs and we are regulars at this store, for their Grooming service and the dog training. Both are at the top what you want to expect. The grooming saloon is very nice, we love Jim, he's the best of the breed of groomers and we are glad he's there, else we would follow him. He's great with animal and it's a pleasure to know him. The training is great, as the trainers are really there to help and to coach, you are not a customer because you paid for a class, you are a client and as such you are treated. Went to this location last week because I was looking for a specific cat food that PetCo didn't have. The Petco by my house is rather small, so unfortunately, there aren't a lot of options We were looking at the different foods & found the one I was looking for. There was a price difference from what I had seen online which was around $5 more. We asked a really nice employee nearby & she said we can price match at the register. She also let us know that Pet smart owns Chewy.com. That was so good to know! We got to the register & the young lady there was super nice & gave us the online price. I just returned dog food to the Lacey Petsmart after my beloved dog unexpectedly died. The clerk processing my return was the most insensitive, callous, clueless young woman I've ever met. She launched into the restrictions on the return without even the most perfunctory of condolences offered. She clearly has never lost someone she has loved in her life. Or has absolutely no sense of how to show compassion to another human being. Perhaps she's not even an animal lover. Store managers may want to consider sensitivity training. I will never go in the store again. I would rather drive across town to Petco instead and endure all of the associated hassles with traffic. read more

The store itself was very nice but one employee in particular was extremely rude and ruined not only mine but my families experience as well, she wasn't wearing a name tag but she had purple/blue hair. We originally came in to entire our names in the fish tank contest, my girls being 6 and 12 wanted to also enter, we asked if there was a age requirement to enter, her response was yeah but when we asked what the age was she couldn't answer that question, she then came to assist us because my 6 year old who was very excited wanted a goldfish, she then refused to give her the fish and rudely said our tank was too small and we probably don't have a good enough filter, she then got up and walked away from us not even suggesting a different fish. This store is very good. I'm not entirely sure if it's all petsmarts, but within this petsmart is a Banfield pet hospital, which we take our cat to all the time. The store always has everything we need, and the staff is very friendly. They really seem to take care of their animals very well. The grooming portion is pretty good as well. We only had an incident once, and I'm pretty sure it was because our cat was stressing out, and she ended up peeing in her kennel. The staff was helpful enough to give my wife some towels to help clean it up. I would definitely go here again. read more

If I could give No stars I would. Took a brand new puppy in on Thursday 2/20 around 11:30, went in to look for a collar bowls and toys. A girl name Azurita approaches us asking about the puppy. Upon giving her the information she said "you were lied to that dog is not 6 weeks old she's 4 ect ect ect" Tells is to get puppy milk and continues to bad mouth the person we got the dog from. Upon giving our puppy the Canned milk she ended up throwing up for 2 days. We took her to the vet and was told she's almost 7 weeks, and doesn't need to drink milk and may be allergic to it. She also said that the puppy could have died throwing up that much. I am extremely disgusted, the way Azurita panicked made us worry and we never should have listened as she is NOT A VET, and has NO BUSINESS GIVING CUSTOMERS ADVISE OR HER OPINIONS. Because "your best friend is a breeder" doesn't make you an expert. We won't be stepping foot in this place because of her and I will he letting everyone I know about my experience. We took our dog to the groomer and the bath was fine. But the shaving and nail cutting was TERRIBLE. Our dogs nails are cracked down the middle and flared out. His testicles were cut up, bloody and red. When we mentioned it they acted like they had no idea how that happened and they sent us to the vet. Now our dog has to wear a cone and we have to make sure it doesn't get infected. We will never bring him back there. read more

The rest of the store I'm sure is fine however, the grooming service is hot garbage. I took my dog to get washed up and her nails trimmed and they said it would take a few hours. I come back two hours later and my dog is "not done yet. She's waiting to dry. it will be around 2 more hours." Nope she was sitting in a cage completely dry. If you love your pet NEVER bring them here for grooming! So expensive and it's not worth it! During the holidays, we brought in our sweet, adorable golden doodle for a trim but he was horribly shaved instead! I didn't know if they understand the difference between trim and shave! I was aghast when I saw our baby looking more like Golum from Lord of the Rings than a dog! They shaved his lovely, curly hair!!! I was hoping our dog would be adorable for Christmas but they made him look really bad! To top it all, they gave him an uneven shave with some long hair still sticking out! I took my puppy to PetSmart in Lacey today. This was his second grooming done there. The first time, they did a great job. This time, however, a groomer named Deb, burned him on his stomach with the shaver and tried to tell me it was due to him itching. This is a severe burn. She also shaved one side of his head, from his eyebrow to his ear in one long streak. He looks ridiculous! Deb was conveniently gone at the pick-up time. I am very distraught for my puppy and will never take him there again. read more

I have mixed feelings on this place. A lot of the employees are very friendly and helpful and I am purely reviewing based on their Betta fish care. I have witnessed how they "clean" their cups by simply dipping into one of the several community tanks. This isn't clean water. I have also brought many cups to the store employees that contained a Betta AND a guppy or danio. Each time the other fish or the Betta were severely damaged. I have gone in several times the last month or so and seen many Bettas with such terrible fin rot, velvet, ich or dropsy. When asked if they would treat them, the answer I received is no. Obviously many of the sick Bettas have been left to deteriorate to this point because they are so bad that employees either neglected them to this point or saw and did nothing. I have found at least 2 dead the last few times I went in. Just left out on display. It isn't that there is no one in the department. There are always one or two that are working. They just don't seem to care. This is completely unacceptable. I have been in many times and seen the care for the Bettas specifically decline dramatically to the point that I can't stay silent. I hope the management or even corporate sees this and makes a serious effort to change their Betta care and educate their staff. read more

I have bought supplies from Petsmart here and there so when my local groomer was unavailable for an extended period of time, we eventually opted to go for the soonest available groomer for my poor little ragamuffin yorkiepoo. (I had been trying to link up with my normal groomer for a month, but life was giving her heck.) Anyway! I asked my husband to call them. He did. The lady that answered immediately placed him on hold. After a few minutes, someone disconnected him. Odd! So he calls back, says I guess after a while the telephone service disconnects people on hold, letting her know they might have a phone problem. "Oh. Weird. That never happened before. " She says, with a sort of snooty attitude. "What do you want?" He says well, I am not sure I have never had a dog groomed there before. Can you tell me what you offer and the prices? She responded haughtily that "it was all on the website" and he needed to look their first and call her back. Nope! I'll wait 2 more weeks for our normal doggo salon. Never recommending them! And from the looks of it... it's to the benefit of my dog anyway. read more

I cannot stress enough don't go here they make it in uneven, they shaved my dogs tail, they almost cut him multiple times they charged extra for shaving his tail when I Specifically told them not to like his tail has no hair anymore some parts you can see his skin and others there's half an inch of fur also they cut his nails so badly they got sharper and cut my arm when I carried him to the car DONT GO HERE I even saw them shaving a husky to the skin read more

When I book an appointment with Petsmart groomers on sleater kinney, I always ask for Kim or Darian. I don't see them as much as I really should for my longer haired border collie because I get pretty busy at times, but when I do show up, it's very clear I'm giving them a BIG PROJECT to tend to. Sometimes I'm told they'll have to shave my dog's matted butt hair (which I don't like hearing) and other times it's pretty smooth sailing. Neither of these gals seem like the type to cut corners to get my dog done faster. I guess I'll try to brush out my dog's hair next time before we go in to avoid the chance at getting a near-bald clipper shaving. But either way, when I get my dog back, You can see their smiles of a quality job well done. The fades on my dog's coats look layered, seamless, and professional. There are other groomers there but I'm used to Kim and Darian. Though I think either groomer besides Kim or Darian would be fine so long as they're being mentored by those gals:) read more

I'm horrified at the way they treated my dog at the groomers. Needless to say, I'm never going back and I discourage any pet owner from taking their fur babies to the groomers here. As pet owners, our dogs are as important to us as our children and its revolting to see them treated like this. I took my 5lbs dog to have her nails clipped. She is not hard to handle, but I warned her she was a little squirmy. With a firm grip, I have seen other groomers cut her nails with ease. The inexperienced groomer at Petsmart struggled with her as she started to treat her rough and impatiently. My dog, feeling her energy became increasingly scared. I was horrified and went into full on panic mode when the groomer put a towel over her head and tightened it and was holding it in a bunched grip behind her head which freaked the dog out and scarred her for every future attempt to cut her nails. After struggling some more, the groomer took her into the back room where I couldn't see while I kept hearing horrified cries from my dog. The groomer returned sweaty and acted so annoyed that she had to deal with the situation. I wanted to throw a towel over her head and tell her she's going to lose her job. read more

It's your typical chaotic box pet store. However, Natalie, a groomer is a gem. She's terrific with my little dog. She always does a nice job on him and genuinely seems to be excited to see him. Last time she put special shampoo on him and he liked that. I was kind of nervous about leaving him at a big store like this, and it's very crazy in the grooming area, but I got lucky when they assigned me to Natalie that first time. read more

Don't go the the pet salon! I used to get my dog's nails cut by a woman who knew how to handle dogs well (he hates his feet being touched), and with me holding his head she would cut his nails in 2 minutes with minimal distress to my dog. He's a 651b lab/dalmatian, so it's not like he's easy to handle when he's scared! Unfortunately, one day I went in and the employees told me that they couldn't cut my dog's nails in the waiting area, where they'd always done. Nor could I hold his head while they did it. THEN they had the audacity to get upset and refuse to cut his nails because my dog was nipping at them, EVEN THOUGH I told them that if I couldn't hold him, he needed a muzzle yet they didn't use one. I'm sorry but if you're stupid enough to ignore your customer's advice about how their pet behaves, I'm not coming back. Concerning what the store has to offer, if you do your research, you'll find that NONE of the pet foods they sell are good for your dog or cat. I found that out after the pet food recall, and the poisonous wheat gluten isn't even a necessary staple for your dog---grains aren't recommended! It's sad to me that all those foods have a lot of filler like that. What's more, pet shelters won't take that kind of food for donations! I had gotten some cheap dog food for free with coupons, but had to throw it away because the shelter wouldn't accept it. Their pet training classes are okay, but take caution because they also give a lot of misinformation concerning correcting unwanted behaviors. I was recommended to spray listerine in my dogs mouth so he wouldn't bark---which is only a temporary solution, and I didn't like the idea of having my dog drink listerine. That's just one example. The toys are way overpriced and some of those plus treats are downright unsafe for your pet--one of the pet trainers specifically told us which products not to buy and why. These include greenies and those fake white bones for dogs. The only thing good is that they have better prices/selection of real bones than anywhere else. read more

I took my dog to Petsmart for grooming today, 7/25. When I dropped him off he was perfectly fine. They called me a few hours later saying he "suddenly" started limping. They claimed to have taken him to the vet at Banefield to have him looked over. They told me their vet said it must be from an old injury, like a torn ACL. He doesn't have any old injuries! I would know if he had torn his ACL. Once I got him home he appeared to be in a lot of pain, favoring his back left leg. He ate ok, except he had to lay down to eat, which he has never done before!! They also didn't give me any paperwork or documentation when I left. I am taking him to my vet in the morning to get an exam and determine what they did to my dog! read more

MY REVIEW IS IN REGARDS TO THE GROOMING SALON AT THE LACEY, WA LOCATION -- do not take your pet to these people. Not even for nail trimming! Due to a back injury, I brought my aussie shepherd in for nail trimming. She never had an issue with grooming prior to this incident. I had been informed, via a phone call, that she would be handled where I could see her. Upon arrival, the groomer abruptly yanked her leash from my hand, and dragged her to the back behind closed doors. This action alone got my dog upset. I could hear her yelping and in obvious distress. I told the other gal by the register to get my dog. She hesitated, so I yelled -- my dog was brought out to me shaking and panting. The groomer said I didn't give her time to finish and she only cut 2 nails, then tried to charge me! Thank goodness the salon manager was there and did not charge me and apologized. Sorry! NO apology can right this! Fire the whole lot of the incompetent groomers at this location and get people who understand proper animal handling, customer service and aren't always in a rush. read more

Never get your dog groomed here. My dog left completely distressed and the person at the front manhandled my 95 lb German Shepherd so hard with the leash that he was audibly choking. Come to find 3 days later after a $135 emergency vet visit that he contracted kennel cough during his grooming as well. I was woken by my dog wheezing, coughing, and hacking violently--to the point where I had to take him to ge emergency vet at 6 AM this morning. Luckily, my dog is relatively young and will be able to recover, but this could be a deadly issue for younger or senior dogs.... Beware. My dog is up to date on vaccinations and has been boarded for multiple days without contracting kennel cough, yet the little time he spent here he ended up very ill. read more

I've had multiple HORRIBLE experiences with petsmart with Dr Doyle in the Banfield pet hospital area. Both times I've visited this particular location it's been with my good friend and her animal. BOTH times we've received the up most disrespectful and inhumane experience while visiting. Dr Doyle has used the term "professionalism" when trying to have my food friend REHOME her dog because "she's underweight" and she believes because her dog is underweight this is "animal abuse" and she hasn't been gaining weighy, says dr doyle. she's been visiting petsmart since her dog (Trixie) was a puppy. NEVER had a bad experience since this. The management was present during the 1st time we received a horrible experience. And was SUPPOSED TO be present during the 2nd appointment as well but was NOT. The nursing assistant whom was also there during the 2nd visit was also disrespectful and rude during this experience. Did not get her name unfortunately. My friends dog is a black lab malamute and border collie mix. Dr Doyle did NOT suggest ANY medicine or treatments to help her dog during these visits, UNTIL me and my friend suggested it after the sad news during the 2nd visit. Corporate and the management team has had a good mouth full of me, my friend and her fiancée both times we've had these horrible experiences at this current petsmart... This review is for the grooming salon only. I've loved shopping at this location for years. The grooming salon.... I felt secure taking my dog because the grooming tables are so visible. Our appointment was on a Saturday so I understand it's busier but the amount of noise was enough to make ME want to cover my ears, much less the sensitive ears of canines. I watched a groomer gruffly grab a terrified Yorkie from the table so she could check in another dog. I'd be mortified if it was my dog being handled that way. The groomer handling mine seemed nice, but maybe needed some additional training, and to smell a bit less like cigarette smoke. On top of a horrible haircut I had to fix when we got home, the following day my dog had to be hospitalized for stress induced HGE. This is a life threatening disease. What happened to her there that caused her so much stress is unknown. Nonetheless, appalling, and unacceptable. I do not recommend this grooming salon to anyone, at all, ever. read more

After 3 years of taking our dog to PetSmart, today she got half groomed because they said she was too anxious and biting at them. They have been grooming her for 3 years and they always charged me extra because they said she was bitey, but they worked with her and she was fine. Today, they decided to hand me back a dog that looks like she got in a fight with a lawn mower...literally clumps of hair hanging off of her. When I complained I was told she had a record for misbehaving. My question to PetSmart, why did you say you would groom my 9lb wonder dog if you thought you could not handle her in the first place? Why give me a half shorn dog back? Why not say, We are sorry but your dog can not be groomed here???? I would have been a lot less mad then I currenty am. Also, they told me she should be sedated for grooming and I asked why they didn't get her hooked up since my vet is right in the store too and they said they can't groom sedated dogs at their shop and the vet is not affiliated with them in anyway even though they are in the store. I have had another lady groom Bella and she did a fantastic job but it was too hard to get on her schedule, and my neighbor groomed her once but she has her hands full so I never wanted to ask her again.
