Overall, I had a great experience building my pool with Thunderbird. The design process was fun and easy. They were very up front about the supply issues with Covid and the delays caused by all the rain this year and troubleshoot the best solves for both. There was a communication hiccup or two, but Nicholle, Taylor and Celeste were amazing with keeping me updated about next steps- I thoroughly enjoyed working with them. Ben and Brandon were also very helpful throughout the process. Thank you for my beautiful pool! read more

Started the processes in December of 2021 and pool build started in March 2022. Pool was finished in less then 75 days with only one delay! Their communication was top notch and the Tony the pool build manager was great! Highly recommend! read more

We attempted to get quotes from Paddock and Shasta pools. No response. We did get quotes from Thunderbird, Presidential, Tribal waters and Cameo pools. Only Tribal and Thunderbird pools really understood what we really wanted. In the end we met with Les and toured some of their work by real homeowners. The quality and craftsmanship was by far superior and made our simple. We told them what we wanted and they came through. Yesterday we had our final meeting with them. It was a bitter sweet goodbye. We will miss Lisa and Cohl because they are genuinely wonderful and professional people. If you go anywhere else, you have gone the wrong direction. What we ended up in the end was exactly what we had hoped for. Thank you for a wonderful experience. Feel free to send me a message if you have any questions. This company is exceptional. Thanks Thunderbird Pools! read more

We are in the process of having our backyard completely done with Thunderbird Pools and Thunderscapes. We are happy with the project thus far. We cannot say enough great things about the gentlemen who have been doing the construction. Everyone has been extremely detailed oriented, and thorough. We appreciate the extra care to detail and the pointers along the way. We also appreciate that any questions or concerns we may have, have been answered immediately. We are so excited, and cannot wait to see the end result. read more

Note my review rankings are changing. As I get past the frustration of a 1 year pool build out, I get they are still working toward customer satisfaction and I'm enjoying my pool very much. Their follow up crew that deals with loose ends is as slow as the rest of their team at finishing things yet hey the build a few pools at a time. I will suggest 1) Cohl introduce himself and help the pool owner feel GLAD they chose Thunderbird, 2) they have portable toilets at the job site and 3 they clean up their messes... yes, even the dust they leave in the street. They got the key parts right, and fix the inevitable loose ends. read more

I just have one word. Okay maybe a few more. This company was great to work when they put our pool in just under 2 years ago. Since then we have had a couple little things that needed adjustments. They have come, fixed and followed up everytime ,No questions. I was having some issues with my in pool pop ups the last couple of days, so I called them and they got me on the schedule and sent out Chris. He was extremely polite and knew his business about the pool equipment. He made a couple of adjustments and ran me though a couple of scenarios that would allow me to keep everything running at its best. The thing is there was no cost! This is one TOP COMPANY!! read more

I had an amazing experience with Thunderbird Pools. Pool was done ahead of the quoted time and everything went very smoothly. If I ever had any questions there was always someone along the way to answer them. Shout out to Allison, Lisa, Cynthia, Britni, Joe, Ben and Brandon for making this an awesome experience. If you're thinking about getting a pool soon definitely consider Thunderbird Pools read more

I cannot recommend Thunderbird pools and Thunderscapes landscaping highly enough! Each step along the way we were met with attentiveness, thoroughness and excellence that provided us with the confidence in knowing that our complete backyard project was in good hands. Given the scope of our project, there were no shortage of challenges - whether weather or logistically related - but from Chris, our designer, to Tony, our project manager, to Elliott, in charge of our pool orientation and maintenance, we were met with helpful solutions, while working with a friendly disposition, and each time a challenge was presented they went above and beyond to meet and exceed our satisfaction and expectations. The owner, Lisa, was hands on and provided great customer service, as did the rest of her team at the office. Again, can't say enough good things about this crew, and am proud to have worked with Thunderbird. read more

Spoke with 5 pool companies before choosing Thunderbird. and definitely made the right choice. The other companies were either unresponsive, hard sell or outrageously priced. Joe, Cynthia, Vivian and Britni were all great. This was a big project and of course hiccups happened. Each issue was handled promptly and courteously. Excellent communication from all and project was completed very timely. Could not be happier with the finished product and also the work Thunderscapes did on the front and backyard landscaping. If you are looking into installing a pool, I strongly recommend you contact Thunderbird. read more

Had my pool built back in 2007, it was such an easy process we were referred to Thunderbird pools by a family member who also bought a pool with Thunderbird pools. Cohl was very professional and courteous I would highly recommend Thunderbird pools to build your next pool. I called several other pool companies and no one gave me as many features as Thunderbird pools for the price. read more

My wife and I had a 5 star experience with Thunderbird pools. From start to finish this construction project could not have been any smother! From our initial consultation to the last day of construction. We knew what was happening every day. From filing permits to what crew was showing up that day. The office staff and job supers are always pleasant and always helpful with questions. The owner Lisa always came out to meet us when we came in to make sure we were both happy with the progress. There are so many people there to thanks I'm not sure I can remember them all. But I'll try. Tony our job super was awesome. He always had time for a call or text. Jeff our sales person, is extremely knowledgeable, Britini our coordinator was on top of everything, Alysia the maintenance coordinator was very helpful getting us set up with weekly maintenance. Anel the construction manager kept us informed of all upcoming work to be done. Cynthia the GM was always available to answer a question. I'm sure I'm missing some folks here, but if we ever build another poll we will definitely be working with Thunderbird pools again! read more

Received a very apologetic email from the Sales Manager who let me know there was some (very) reasonable reason we had not heard back from Chris in a timely fashion. She handed our account over to the owner who will be designing a pool for us himself. I am updating my review to 4 stars because I greatly appreciate when a company can admit they dropped the ball and then provide a solution to fix it. I have a lot of respect for that and I look forward to finally seeing a design from Thunderbird! read more

We just finished our pool with Thunderbird pools in June.....one word...AWSOME. They were wonderful to work with, every week we were told about the work to be done and if there is going to be any delay for any reason. Given the size of project it took sometime to completion but end result is wonderful. We did pool and landscape for our new home with them and we are very happy that we went with them. We would recommend them over and over again. read more

After researching several companies, and receiving several bids (all coming back within a few thousand dollars of each other) we ended up choosing Thunderbird Pools & Spas to build our pool because of their positive reviews online, and because while visiting their showroom, the owner of the company came over and introduced herself. We really appreciated that! We also liked that they're a smaller, family owned and operated pool company. Jeff was a pleasure to work with when designing our pool. Any questions or concerns we had during construction was quickly resolved by our contractor, Tony. The office was great about letting us know what was happening next with our pool build and when workers would be at the house. The whole build took 4.5 months from start to finish and we've been enjoying out pool for a week now! We'd highly recommend having Thunderbird Pools and Spas build your pool! read more

Had our pool built in 2020. We saw Steve for our design. I changed our design on two different occasions and Steve was so professional and had no problem making adjustments. Shane comes once a week and takes his time to make sure everything is taken care of. Been very happy all around with all the services thunderbird provides. read more

If you are looking for a pool builder in the Phoenix area, look no further. My experience with Thunderbird Pools was top notch. From day one with the designer to the construction team up to the last day with the pool setup people, the services provided was were immaculate. Everyone was extremely respectful, responsible, and, most importantly, an excellent communicator for the entire process of my backyard project. We just recently finished building our pool with Thunderbird pools in July. We loved everything about our experience. The communication was amazing. Every time a contractor would leave, I would get a call with the next steps. I could also see this information on a website I had and the emails sent. They had such great attention to detail and made sure everything was done correctly before moving on to the next step. They stayed on time with the project even in the middle of COVID. We felt very taken care of and appreciated. We would recommend them over and over again. read more

Amazing! They came out to do a quote in late July & they gave me a quote and layout video in 3 days (if you've been trying to get a pool quote you know that some companies are taking WEEKS to just come out to you). They were professional, finished months before they told me, and did an amazing job. Everytime someone comes over they ask who did my pool & landscaping. My PM was Tony and he was INCREDIBLE. Super fast responses to any questions, always on time, and so so nice. The ladies in the office were always quick to call to tell me status & what to expect. If I move again and have to put in a pool...there is no question who I'm going to again. read more

great experience working with thunderbird pool so far. Chris provided so much information as to what would fit in my yard and what the process entailed. he was patient with all my questions, ensuring I understood everything they were going to be doing and why. i really appreciate the excellent customer service. I had contacted six companies. heard back from five. while I had to wait to get an appt for them to come out, it was worth it. i was able to get plans quickly and then work out the details to finalize the project. they were the right choice. chris took the time to ensure we got exactly what we were looking for rather than telling me what we needed. read more

We had an outstanding experience with Thunderbird Pools. From our first meeting with Mike, who helped design our pool, to our weekly updates with Nicolle, to our final walk through with Chris...just first class customer service. The digital design during the quote process was very impressive and the construction team came through 100%! Building a pool is a significant investment, so we started the process with high expectations and Thunderbird pools absolutely came through. I would recommend Thunderbird pools to all my friends and family. read more

Thunderbird Pools is the company to use if you are looking for a high-quality pool. I would definitely use them again and highly recommend them. After talking to our neighbors who all used other pool builders, it was clear that our experience was hands-down the best of anyone in our neighborhood. We started the process with Mort, who was very patient with the multiple design changes we made to bring our vision to life. We built during covid and obviously ran into some delays, but Thunderbird was good about keeping us informed about barriers and options, they kept the ball rolling. We are very pleased with the end result and would highly recommend using Thunderbird! read more

Worst communication ever!! And I referred several additional customers to them, which 2 of us regret. They were not on time for any step of process, and I was the one initiating conversation and dates! But they sure do blow up your phone when they want a check. On top of pool being overly delayed, employees were rude and disrespectful. Landscape company was also rude and disrespectful, I guess he felt he could treat a female a certain type of way... which was not happening. Worst company I have dealt with in a really really long time.. terribly sad read more

I would not use this company. No one seems to know what's going on. I say this because I was told three different stories, by three different employees, about why things are not getting completed. Their trades seem to show up whenever. No heads up given, even after asking several times for them to let us know a day before. There's just too much to list. Doing my good deed for the day, and letting YOU know that you will be sorry. It's not worth the headache. read more

I give Thunderbird Pools 10 stars. Our rep came out and name was Steve goes buy Mort. He was honest and did a wonderful job putting the plans together for us about how we can have the pool according to our specifications. They stand up to the work and know there stuff. I recommend them to everyone. Thank you for all your hard honest work. New River, AZ read more

A Thunderbird Pool sales person will come out and look over your space for the pool, give you a good idea of how it would lay out. Then you go into the showroom to look over the many choices of samples and see a computerized conception of what you project would look like. Many options to choose from. A positive experience for us. Just be patient, there are many phases that your project goes through before you are complete. It is worth it. In three and a half months we had our gorgeous pool. Employees are professional and friendly. Huge staff to answer your questions. You won't be disappointed!! read more

I was off of Yelp and lost all my reviews, but now I am back and will take the time to review all my 5 star recommendations. I dealt with Cohl and Lisa for 20 years since I made a mistake with the color on my cool deck. Apparently Sedona red is RED! After Cohl and I had a good laugh he offered to change it for no additional charge. 20 years later and 14 pools later plus many neighbors who went with Thunderbird we still remain friends and will never go with another pool builder. From the first meeting with Mort we knew we had finally found the right company for us. I would highly recommend using thunderbird pools . From the time we received our quote to finished product they were amazing. Our pool has been completed over a month and we are very happy with our decision to go with Thunderbird. We were on the fence between Thunderbird and the largest pool builder in the state. The larger builder had a better price but had a lot of consistent issues with quality and delays. We decided on thunderbird for piece of mind. Cohl designed a great pool on the spot and all of the products are top notch. Thunderbird delivered a product that exceeded our expectations and made the right decision. Only negative is I would have liked 1 or 2 infloor cleaners in the center of my pool. I have a dirt zone in the middle. For the price of the infloor cleaners I shouldn't have to consider buying a separate vacuum. read more

Cohl Workman promises on his website that his customers will not be disappointed. He is lying. We are VERY DISAPPOINTED. And when we emailed Cohl directly to let him know on January 29, 2021, we were ignored. We spent almost $50,000 on our pool and landscaping with this company and we completely regret it. It all began when our salesperson, Chris (who was mentioned in several other reviews) stopped responding to us. When we finally got a hold of someone, they told us that Chris was no longer with the company. A reputable company would have reached out to his customers to let them know! Then came the delays during our construction.... Our gas permit failed because someone in the office put the wrong permit number on the application with the city. Instead of just admitting their mistake and apologizing, they just denied that it had happened. Once I confirmed with the city that the correct permit number had been put on the application, we passed. Then we failed the pool barrier safety inspection because no one at Thunderbird gave us correct information about what was needed. Lisa did refund us $300 towards the door locks with the caveat that they were not admitting fault. After the Pebblesheen was completed and before the pool was filled, we contacted Lisa about our concerns that there had been so many subcontractors used and that we had concerns about quality control and the mess that several of the crews had left. We took pictures and had to clean it up ourselves. Our supervisor, Joe, said he was no longer involved once it gets to Pebblesheen. We asked that Lisa or Cohl come out to inspect our pool. Lisa responded stating her complete confidence in their process, completely ignoring the fact that I told her outright that I was not satisfied. She just continued to tell me what a great job they do and not acknowledging that I was not at all happy with the work. Once the pool was completed and started up on December 1, Chris, the orientation tech, agreed that the coloring of the pebblesheen did not look right but that we needed to wait until our 30 day inspection on December 28. On this day, Elliot, service manager, agreed again that the color was off and that it would need to be drained, acid washed again and then refilled. When I called the office to try to set this up, I was told that the company they subcontract for the Pebblesheen had to come out to inspect and write a report before this warranty work could be done. This was done and we spoke directly to the subcontractor to set this up for the end of February. We are very disappointed that this company touts themselves as a family business and yet, their response to customer complaints is just to keep saying what a great job they do and not take responsibility for their mistakes. We DO NOT RECOMMEND Thunderbird Pools! We have just reached out to our personal attorney to discuss taking legal action. Response to owner comment: Cohl, Now you are showing your true colors. It is your son who was rude on the phone. Lee was very unprofessional and threatened to fire our pool cleaner and your subcontractor for the Pebblesheen. We have never met you or talked to you, although we did ask to several times. This is the first response we have gotten from you, just sad that we had to post on a public review site to get you to reach out. That is truly poor customer service. We never asked for anything free and we certainly never asked to be paid off. We just wanted the work done properly and fixed when it was not. read more

From our sales rep Mort to our construction super Werner the team at Thunderbird Pools and Spa has been amazing so far! I'll post more as the project progresses! I didn't update as much as I wanted but the pool is done and what an amazing job! Werner was great and got the job completed right on time! He kept me informed and up to date on the progress of the pool and even helped me time the completion of the rest of my backyard project so as not to cause problems with the pebble. Werner gave the highest level customer service. Never once did he ignore a call or text and always followed up to make sure everything was running smooth throughout the process. Short version: If you have anyone but Cohl build your pool, you are crazy. Long version: We talked with a number of smaller builders and the two big guys. We went way down the road with The Biggest Guys and were actually close to signing up when they threw us yet another curve and then we had had enough. We feel like we dodged a major bullet after meeting Cohl, who we found on Yelp. It took many weeks to get a design done with The Biggest Guys and they demanded meetings and did not like using email. Cohl had 95% of our pool design done on his computer during our FIRST meeting at our house and he incorporated a number of GREAT design ideas that we had not thought of. Pricing was very competitive and included all the state of the art, very cool options without us having to negotiate for them, which was a good thing because I was not even aware of a lot of these goodies, even after talking to all the other builders. We discovered there were a lot of preferred design specs and options that were never discussed with us by the other guys and Cohl had them all included in his base price. WOW! It would have been easy to take advantage of us but Cohl was looking out for us from the start. Dealing directly with the builder and taking the salesman out of the loop makes a BIG difference. The entire build process was smooth and the communication from them was unbelievably good. We always knew what was happening next and all the subs actually showed up exactly when we were told they would. Unlike every other contractor we seem to deal with these days, they showed up, did quality work and did everything they said they would do. There were a couple times when Cohl made the subs redo minor issues when he did not think it was up to his standards. No one complained. They just made everything perfect. If you do your homework and really check out the other builders, you will appreciate what Cohl does even more. Don't buy into the Biggest Guy's warranty BS. Go talk to some people with their pools and you will discover why it does not mean that much. Cohl and this family business offer stellar customer service, straight talk and no BS and deliver exactly what they promise. I am VERY picky and notice everything. I can honestly say my pool is as close to perfect as you can get and the entire experience from start to finish was problem free. I have been in the real estate business for 35 years. These guys are as good as it gets. I wish all the other contractors I do business with were like Cohl. read more

There are not enough accolades to describe how fabulous Thunderbird Pools are in dealing with attention to detail, their customer service, timeliness and quality of construction. They are a family business with the husband and wife team (Cohl is out on the site and Lisa does the phones and scheduling). We had been through so many frustrating meetings with all of the "big pool builders" before we sat down with Cohl. Within 10 minutes of talking to Cohl, we knew we were going to go with him. He knows his business and is honest enough to share his opinion of things he thinks won't work and why. He brings a lot of great ideas to the table. The finished product was so much more than we had envisioned and us extremely excited to get this pool built so we could see it! I can honestly say that this is the best construction company that I have ever dealt with. Cohl is a perfectionist and checks up on everything at every step of the way and doesn't hesitate to get things corrected (even minor little things, he notices and fixes - no shortcuts!). Lisa emails with the schedule for the next few days or week so we know exactly what to expect and when - and they stick to it!!! Once, we had a forecast for rain and they instantly emailed and said "if it rains, we won't be able to proceed until Thursday." I constantly joked with Lisa and asked if they would do the renovations inside my house as I certainly can't get contractors to show up on time and to knock out the work the way that they do. I would HIGHLY recommend Thunderbird Pools as you will know that your pool build/renovations will be executed flawlessly and you will be extremely happy with the end product. read more
