I really enjoy eating in eclectic establishments with unique dishes, especially when made well, and Thunder Bacon Burger brought the thunder in each of these areas! I have not been here since the previous business, Donut Bar, was in the space. While I do miss Donut Bar, Thunder Bacon Burger is an excellent replacement. It was nice to be back. The place was clean, and our server, Erin, was very personable. My wife had the Thunder Veggie Burger, I had the Thinderkush (Green chilies, bleu cheese, chopped bacon, and raspberry chipotle sauce), and our 19-year-old son had the WTF (Peanut butter, chopped bacon, jalapeño, and raspberry chipotle sauce on a donut bun). All of us enjoyed our food, and it made for a memorable Wednesday lunch. If my review was not enough to persuade you to give them a try, they also have a painting of Alex Van Halen's iconic guitar and a sign outside that essentially states skinny people do not get kidnapped. :)
Back in Tucson just under 3 years, cannot believe this was my first time here - the 'Thunder Classic Burger' was as good as it gets. The burger was cooked perfectly, the bun was wonderful, toppings all fresh and a small vice large side of tots (sufficient for two average sized people) were crispy and flavorful. Toss in friendly and welcoming service from Lauren and Dragoon (Sonoran Amber) on tap, absolutely great experience and a perfect lunch stop. The restrooms have cool art deco and overall, I am issuing my coveted 6-star rating on cleanliness. Those cieling tiles to include around intakes - spotless! Assuming the kitchen is as clean as the dining area, this place deserves a A++. Will definitely return, highly recommend. Tip: Ride share may take you to the previous location, double check the current address in your app.
Just randomly wanted a burger while I was walking around and came across this place on yelp. There was only one other couple so service was immediate and they had some cool photos on the wall. I got the burger that had donuts for a bun and red chili peppers inside with some kind of barbecue sauce and it was insanely good. Had an IPA that voodoo ranger IPA. It was good went perfectly with the fries in the burger. I will definitely be back for another burger.
First the location. It's downtown and parking is an issue. The are a few spots on the street in front but they were taken. Ended in a parking garage around the corner. The restaurant has an urban vibe and was fairly empty when we got there a little after noon on a Saturday. It ended up being pretty jammed but the time we left. We seated immediately and our waitress did a great job of taking care of us the entire time. We both ordered the Thunder Classic Burger with tater tots on the side. It's a double patty smash burger on an amazing bun. I opted out on the "Thunder Sauce" and went with yellow mustard instead. My wife went with the sauce which I later tasted and it was pretty good. Prepare to get messy with the burger but it's worth it! It's a basic burger, with lettuce, tomato and pickles but its tastes amazing.... On a final note the restrooms are CLEAN!
Nice place to stop in for a pretty decent and unique burger. Good flavor, not to messy and a very rock and roll ambiance. We tried a couple burgers and also the loaded tater tots. The cream cheese took me by surprise and made it a little heavy but the pickled onions helped. Nice place to grab lunch with friends and I'm sure also an even better spot after a few drinks and a walk downtown. Would return again.
Absolutely LOVED it here! I got the Farlows burger and ate every bite of it, it was that good! The pulled pork on it was soooo tender too. My girlfriend got the 520 burger, she loved it and it definitely had some spice to it! The lady working was very sweet and nice (can't remember her name but she's the one that had plugs in her ears) very friendly as well. Fantastic experience and will be coming back again. Side note: There's an older male spirit/ghost that hangs out inside as well I saw. Very calm man and doesn't bug anyone, he's more of an observer . I'm also a psychic medium so most people won't see this man but waitress affirmed what I saw. All good vibes!
A small burger joint located downtown. This place was great! Loved my classic bacon burger. We also got the Thunder Pacaw which was a breaded chicken patty on top of a burger. The hot honey chili sauce on top was so good. Server was super nice and provided suggestions and explained the menu. We loved the art decor too. The bathroom decor is hilarious.
Ambiance: cool hole on the wall Service: Friendly, Approachable Food: Valhalla-worthy We ordered the Big Kahuna, the Inception and to shared Tinder Style Loaded Tots. Thunder Sauce: 1000 Island Note: I totally intended to take a photo of the burgers. They were big and juicy, burgers come with pattys - I think. Ours did. *rolling out of here.
Here's the deal this is pretty decent food. However, I do have a few issues. I ordered via doordash and after comparing price they are charging more on doordash than in restaurant. Example 3 way is 18 in store we paid 21 on doordash. Also, on the photos they show make the portions look huge and they're not. They are fine portion but a realistic photo of what you're getting is what is expected. They make the fries (and we ordered large porion)and tots look like they could feed 2 people, But it's not it's a small portion compared to photos. Which again is fine, but let's not over promise. Finally, the food it's self. The buns are so good, tgey are nice and soft. I had the G.O.A.T burger it was decent. It's not something I would go out if my way to order again. My husband had the 3 way burger. He loved it. However, again it was nearly as much food as they made it look like. The fries that are called Chipotle are really buffalo. They were great. Just not what I expected. The thunder fries were great. The thunder sauce is similar to big mac sauce. I would leave thunder off next time. Finally, I'm going to upload photos of what I received compared to the photos they provide. Included prices on website vs doordash.
Overall I had a pretty good experience here. It wasn't busy at all on a Sunday morning. The waitress was friendly and attentive, and my food came in just under 10 minutes after ordering. Sometimes when ordering a burger, places ask how you'd like your meat cooked, but I guess they don't do that here. The Thunderkush was pretty good, and the fries were crispy and not overly salty, how I like them. They charged an extra dollar for a side of BBQ sauce. I'd definitely come back and try one of their other unique burgers.
I went here last weekend and had a great experience. The woman who served me had a great personality and helped me pick a burger. Can't remember name but black hair and cheek piercing, you're awesome. Best thing about this place is the creative burger options, I will be trying more for sure. The restaurant is well decorated and spotless clean. The view looks over towards the downtown transit station, so there is always something crazy to see out the windows. Two small complaints: 1. Charging for sauce - if I'm spending $20 on a burger and fries, getting charged $1/per for a non-homemade ranch and side of house sauce should be criminal. 2. All the TVs were turned off on a saturday midday (I was the only person in the restaurant), I asked if I could get the free ufc fights put on, waitresses asked the owner/management who said no. Alright then
This place took over the beloved donut bar and I was sad to see, is no longer doing both. The Thunder Backn Burgers however, looked like a dream online so my husband and I were excited to come try them! I loved the selections, both classic and a little out there. I tend to prefer the "out there" side. I chose the 520 burger, a chorizo burger with green chiles and bacon. When it came, it wasn't bad. The meat was flatter and soft (like a Freddie's burger) and the bun was soft . It appeared like the pictures but also in a more realistic edible size which was not a problem. I did feel like it needed something, some kind of kick.. maybe a less mild chorizo. Until I deconstructed it, I thought they had gave me a hamburger patty instead. My husband got the Big Kahuna... it looked amazing when it came out and he said it was good. We ordered the Thunder tots as well but I was not impressed. Something must have been going on with my taste because there was this reminiscent taste in them... my husband finally said ohhh teriyaki! But that wasn't it to me... it was a potato salad taste (I don't like potato salad). Idk what exactly was in the tots but that's the taste I got from it. The server was nice and helped with ordering, but took a bit long to bring water on a hot day, as well as for a refill (we had to ask both times).. but she was good with the water after those 2 times. I did think it was strange though that she asked if we wanted ice. Never had that question and again it was pretty warm out. You pay at the counter (which we only knew because we saw someone else do it) and the server was talkative and friendly , which was a pleasant end to our time at Thunder Burger. I do want to go back and try another burger, and I would recommend this place to others. I would really give it a 3.5 if I could. Just didn't quite hit a 4 star experience for me.
This is a very complicated review for me to write because the experience was all over the board. Food was delicious and def 5 stars. Our waitress was also amazing and 5 stars. Here's where it falls off the rails. No soda fountain so only have canned soda and no diet coke when we were there. Also no ice?!??! So whatever you drink will be tepid. Absolutely terrible ketchup, probably sysco house recipe which is the worst of the worst so we ordered some of their signature sauce to dip our fries in and they charge 1.75 for a small little side. I had the burger with goat cheese and it was great. We also ordered the thunder queso fries and thunder fries and all agree the thunder fries were the winner.
Looking at these photos and now I'm craving them! I had the 420 Burger with Dirty Thunder Style fries. It was SO freaking good! I didn't quite taste the chorizo in my burger and it tasted the same as my son's regular burger but nonetheless, I loved the hot Cheetos and cream cheese in it! My husband got the Farlows B.A.MF. burger and even though he asked for no lettuce twice, was told that it didn't come with lettuce, even though the menu stated it did. Low and behold, his came with shredded lettuce. He hates good stuff, so he was annoyed by that, so that's where the minus one star comes from. read more

I came to tucson with one mission, to find the best burger in the city. My mission was completed at my first stop, Thunder Bacon Burger. Wow were the burgers good. They stack you up with a good amount of meat, and nice flavored seasoning. The cheese has a way of blending the flavors together to maintain a constant delicious flavor. The crispiness of the bacon was phenomenal, and the bun was nice and soft. All of the ingredients complimented each other perfectly. Their house sauce was bussing on top of everything. Don't even get me started with those tater tots, they were cooked to the perfect level of crisp. Cool environment too, only downside is that it is pretty pricy. It was about forty five dollars for the two of us. Pros: quality burger, all around, awesome sauce, tater tots are nicely cooked, cool place, lots of cool options for burgers Cons: expensive read more
This is an amazing burger joint! The young gentleman from North Carolina who took our order is great! He told us about our menu options, greeted us immediately and was very friendly through the entire time we were there! We received our delicious burgers and fries quickly! This was one of the best burgers I've ever had. I was able to eat from my meal three times. The burger is huge! The buns are spectacular! Sweet potato fries and sauce were superb! I can't wait to bring friends back here and try more things! read more
Lindy is making amazing burgers downtown again. So as I understand Lindy opened Fire N Smoke BBQ & Pizza and closed it. The pandemic probably didn't help too much. Lindy is back on 4th across the street from Lindy's. The creative burgers are back at Thunder Bacon Burger. The restaurant has been opened for about a month and the burgers are excellent. He offers a black bean burger for vegetarian folks. They have some details to work out like a tap beer system, but be patient as they're working on it. I do wish they has a liner between my food and the aluminum tray. Go try Lindy's new place the food is great. read more

Lindy is back in a huge way with his latest burger bliss! How on earth is he so darn inventive? Perfectly prepared burgers and sides are what you get, and the price point is insanely great. I had the Farlow's B.A.M.F. (and I also got to find out what B.A.M. F. meant - I feel so out of touch) with sweet potato fries, and my husband had the Five Twenty with fries. My burger was massive!! I think there may have been four patties, and one of them was rib meat. Bacon, bacon jam, pepper jack, shredded lettuce, sweet pickles and thunder sauce in between two beautiful (and branded) buns meant that I was not putting down this behemoth after picking it up. Juicy, delicious, and darn perfect. The fries were perfectly prepared too - and who doesn't love chipotle mayo with sweet potato fries? Holy moly - this meal was incredible! Now, my husband's meal - just like Tucson, this burger had a nice spice. A chorizo patty and regular burger patties (when I say regular, that just means some of the finest beef in town), green chiles, pepper jack, bacon, shredded lettuce, pickles, and Thunder sauce between those signature buns is just a work of culinary chicanery that blows the mind!!! Oh, and the fries are crinkle cuts, which are just the best fries around. The restaurant space is great, too, decorated in true Lindy fashion. Still has the clothesline ticket delivery system, and the great views of 4th Ave is just icing on the cake! Drop what you're doing, and get over to Thunder Bacon Burger Co., and be prepared to leave filled to the brim with delicious eats!!! It's so worth it!!! read more
Overall, the burgers were good and very filling, however, they were on the heavy dense side. I think we could've ordered better, but I would've liked some lettuce or tomatoes help break up the richness. The bacon was crumbled on top of the burgers and the fries were crispy. We were there on a Friday late afternoon and there was no one else there so we were quickly seated. The bathroom has a nice surprise for any Star Wars fans. read more

One of the best burger places in Tucson! I'm such a burger fanatic and today, they satisfied my craving I ordered the 420 Burger which had hot Cheetos and cream cheese and oh my! It was so filling but very delicious. I knew that if I was going to cheat early on my diet, might as well go all out! Which I did Thank you guys for giving us the best service and burgers We will be back!! Support local business read more

A foodie friend of mine told me about this place and the backstory. Note: I had never been to the lindys joint. I was admittedly hesitant as I haven't had a ton of great burger experiences here in Arizona. I typically am pretty boring and don't like a lot of extra odd things in my burger but I know I love grilled pineapple so I figured why not. I'm so happy we tried it out, and I'm looking forward to bringing my family there with my next time. The burger, toppings, and bun combo melts in your mouth, and hand... it's a bit messy so watch out. I loved every bit of it. I got the normal fries and they paired really well together. The staff was super chill and friendly too. I'll be back for sure! read more

Had lunch with my nephew here and we both really enjoyed it. He ordered the Shroom burger, large fries, a Coke and a key lime donut. I had the classic burger on a gluten free bun. He liked it so much, he returned a week later with his friends for another burger and donut! Not a large space, but we found parking and seating easily, and our service was great! Highly recommend! read more

First off, I was super excited to walk in because of the art styles in the windows and on the building. Secondly, the entire restaurant is like if there were a burger joint on the Island of misfit toys. It's inviting, actually spoke to one of the owners when ordering food. As for the food. I have no words, I got this far before I decided I absolutely loved it. My family and I will make this a regular stop from now on! Everything was fresh, and the flavor was to die for. read more
My husband and I ate here after being unimpressed with the menu at another, unnamed downtown restaurant. It was a GREAT choice. I had the (I believe it was called) the Thunder Kush, with raspberry jam, blue cheese, bacon and green chiles and it was FANTASTIC. I had once had a similar burger at the OG Lindy's and I'd be lying if I said it didn't cross my mind fondly every now and then. Lindy's daughter took our order and she was a sweetheart. :) It's not a fancy place and there's not a huge menu. Which is good, because most people (including me) would like to eat at a place that does a few things perfect than a lot of things not very well. The interior is very pop culture/musical with a strong influence from street art. The trash cans by where we were sitting had R2D2 spray painted on them and as a burger loving Star Wars geek, I approve! Definitely worth checking out. Lindy is a genius with food and this just proves it. read more

Found this as the #1 burger joint on yelp and it did not disappoint. First of all, all their burgers on the menu are the same price. I got the 420 burger and it was amazing. Cream cheese double bacon, flaming hot Cheetos, and their sauce, AMAZING! Staff was nice and very friendly, which is a huge plus in my wife's book. read more

The food was absolutely amazing! First time there and was immediately welcomed nicely. It was 20 dollars for my order which is so worth it because everything was absolutely fresh! I think even the ketchup was fresh too. And the people are so nice and open doors right away when it was 11. And even the restrooms are nicely kept. read more
I found this little gem cuz of instagram with an awesome video showcasing them make one of their juicy burgers. I had to go! I love me a good burger, and let me tell you all the choices on their menu sound amazing. They even have a special burger that comes out every month. Unfortunately, I did not get to try it this time around, but I will definitely be going back before February ends. This place has a great atmosphere right on 4th Avenue with lots of Star Wars art with some rock n roll twist to it. The burgers were super juicy and the flavors were top notch. I had the Farlows BAMF which was one of the best burgers i have had in a while. Even their loaded tots were delicious. This is a must try if you are walking around 4th looking for a place to eat and even have a beer or 4. read more

I'm not a fan of burgers that have a sweet taste to them. This burger did, I don't know what it was exactly but it wasn't my favorite. I would be willing to try something else. The person who was there working, wasn't the friendliest at first but toward the end was really nice. Food took a while to come out but the burgers are huge and the presentation is awesome. read more

Mouth watering goodness is stacked into every bite here! I was surprised when I read the menu they were using smash burgers, I've never been a fan of them before, but holy moly do they do them better than I've ever had! I was dying to try the Halloween special. The sauce was on point! Loaded with garlicky goodness and the juicy burger was balanced perfectly by the fluffy brioche bun. My husband got the 420 burger, and I hate to admit it, but it was even better than mine. Don't tell him, but I even stole a second bite from it when he went to get another drink and left his burger unattended. The hidden green chiles enhanced every bite of that burger. Not to mention, the fries, crinkle cut (!!) could not have been prepared more perfectly. Crispy, crunchy, and soft inside! No ketchup needed. Definitely did not disappoint! read more
