There are coffee shops that smell like sugar and syrup, and then there are coffee shops that actually smell like coffee. Thump is the latter of the two, which immediately drew me to liking it. So glad I listened to the recommendations on Yelp... the avocado toast with poached eggs did not disappoint! And the vanilla latte tasted exactly like you would expect. The overall vibe in this coffee shop is very welcoming, friendly, and casual. Lots of places to sit, whether to get some work done or hang out with friends. I'll be sure to come by again the next time I'm in Denver! read more

The good: Great coffee, espresso, and lattes. Cool atmosphere. Lots of seating (although it gets quite crowded but that's not their fault). The bad: They have an affinity for rap music and will often play rap songs. So if you like listening to the F word and N word this is your place! Also it is too loud. It's called background music for a reason guys. Just sayin'. Also, they don't serve oat milk and based on the answer I got when I asked about it, they don't intend to and don't really care. The Ugly: I give them 1 star because the female staff is less than friendly act like they would rather have needles poked in their eyes than be working there and customer service/fun/friendly help is what it's all about. I can get a good latte anywhere these days. They are not rude but not friendly. The 3 dudes that work their are super cool and friendly and fun. Disappointing hipster coffee place. I wouldn't come here over any other place unless it was closer. I came here while visiting Denver on a road trip. The neighborhood is pretty to walk through. This place definitely exudes the hipster Denver grunge vibe. The coffee was really meh - I had a cold brew, and I have to say even Starbucks is better, and it's cheaper. For a fancy coffee place it's disappointing that they only offer drip coffee. I also had the Blueberry Almond toast. It was good, but the portions were small and it was pretty overpriced. First time in Denver, and with all their great reviews, I definitely had to try out Thump. I gotta say, I was pretty impressed. Thump has a lot of room and is fairly quiet (at least compared to most coffee shops) if you need to get work done. I guess that explains why it was crowded even on a Saturday morning. Virtually everyone was on their laptops. Staff was very friendly, and I really liked the vibe. The coffee itself is pretty good, but not amazing (or at least my latte was). What really got me though was the cookies. They were DELICIOUS (yes, all caps worthy). They were soft, chewy, and the perfect amount of sweet. This coffee shop is right by my apartment, so I've been here several times. The great: their food and their coffee. I absolutely obsess over their scones. I could eat 10 of these easily. Their coffee is delicious and they always do cute coffee art that us "basic" chicks ooh and awe over. Also, their customer service. Last time I was here, my drink somehow got lost in the orders, and after I mentioned it, they gave me a comp card for another drink. I wasn't upset about my drink, or threw a fit; they did it simply because they appreciate good customers and want to provide a great experience. The good: their ample seating and general aesthetic. It's definitely a modern industrial design vibe, which I LOVE. They have a lot of seating, which brings me to my next point. The bad: the crowd. It is always so crowded here on the weekends. It's not their fault they're so popular, so I'm not docking them here, but I would love to sit here for a little while and enjoy my coffee, but there's never seating. Also, the crowd is verrrrry hipster and "cool", so sometimes I get intimidated going in wearing my basic jeans and tee (yes this is my own anxiety). I did not have a good experience either time I've visited Thump Coffee. I had a request to meet at Thump for a business meeting, so I went the day before to scope parking and the menu. I stood at the counter for several minutes and was never greeted or offered a beverage. The next day (day of the meeting,) I came early and was greeted right away. I ordered a chai, and was asked "for here or to go." I replied, "for here," and was told that the chai usually comes in a 10oz mug, but they could make a larger one since I'm taking it to go. Coffee is good, but it leaves alot to be desired in terms of customer service. Hadn't visited Denver in awhile, so wasn't up to date on the changes with the most recent public health order's Mask Mandate. I walk in, not seeing any sign about masks being required and walk up to the counter to place an order when the guy with red hair, beard and glasses barks, "You need to have a mask on!" Putting me on the spot. Other patrons look up to see what's going on. I tell him I don't have one and wasn't aware of the mandate. One of the other staff was kind enough to explain the recent changes, saying patrons need to wear a mask until they are seated, which I always thought was weird to begin with. I wasn't trying to cause a problem but the beard/glasses guy definitely could have approached it better as he was definitely rude. How he has a job interacting with customers is beyond me and should be let go, as people like that don't need to be around others. If being a coffee-loving hipster is wrong, I don't want to be right. I live pretty close to Thump and have run/driven by it countless times, so I can't believe it's taken me this long to actually come give it a try (but I'm so glad I did!). Thump is on an interesting little block on 13th, super close to Cheesman Park. It's a mix of old school and new school, with Thump and a really hip looking liquor store bumping elbows with an old pizza place and a dark-looking tavern. I just checked out their website and see they're originally from Bend, Oregon with Denver being their third shop location. Good choice, guys! I visited Thump later on a Thursday afternoon and was immediately greeted by two super friendly baristas. I asked if they had matcha and they told me not yet, but they were considering it and would add my request to their considerations (I felt so important!). I ordered a kombucha (they have two different flavors of local 'booch!) and asked for the wifi password, in which they told me there is no password! It's a small touch, but feels a little extra welcoming, am I right? I'll definitely be back on a morning in the near future to give their coffee and pastries a try. When you look around the shop itself, you see a hipster's paradise: exposed brick, community tables, and lots of tattooed young people typing away on their Macbooks. I grabbed a table and took in the scene--people meeting in the "gadget free" area in the back, a cool lady watercoloring nearby, and people with their dogs on the porch. I live a few blocks from this shop but will always choose Doppio over this place for a few reasons. My first experience here was average at best. Staff was rude and unwelcoming, and I felt that I was talked down to. I suggested Thump to a friend thinking it may have just been my experience on that particular day - it was not. She was treated as if they thought she was stupid. Today, she recommended Thump to a friend in town visiting, also hoping her experience was a one-off. Friend orders an iced drink, receives a hot one, asks for it to be remade, and the barista says he doesn't even know what she ordered or how to make it and was extremely rude about it. Coffee may be fine, but if you're looking for community and welcoming service in your baristas, I wouldn't recommend this place. read more

The Sweet Bee tea taste really good and is high quality stuff, which leads me to believe their other tea choices and coffee are high quality as well. Atmosphere: this place strikes me as a serious college student college crowd or grad student crowd since the majority of those here look young and like they're intensely studying or at least serious about making the grade. It's not necessarily the kill time at a coffee shop Starbucks post grad crowd...it's more of a serious about life millennial crowd with an occasional lucky older baby boomer local who is fortunate to own a home in this sought after Denver area. Eric's Denver Coffee Quest Episode 2 (Episode 1 was when I discovered Pablo's years ago) As much as I love Pablo's, I had to go out and see what else was out there in the Denver coffee scene. Thump is in my 'hood, so this was my second outing. I like the space, really modern and airy, and their menu looks inviting. I ordered my usual Americano and found it to be good, but not great. I'm one of those weird espresso people who likes bold, but not bitter. I find a lot of places serve espresso that is more on the bitter side, so I'm admittedly hard to please. I found the espresso to be slightly on the bitter side...not enough to hinder my enjoyment, but enough to compel me to not go out of my to come here for coffee. That's not to say that I won't come back. Like I said, their menu looks great, and the folks that work there are nice. Chances are you'll enjoy it. read more

I tried the Maté, which was a first for me, it was smooth, a tiny bit nutty and tea-like but without the acidity or any bitterness.
