Our party of three tried to make it simple by ordering only burgers that were a) all cooked the same (medium well) when two were ordered rare-medium rare, b) rather small for the $8 price, and c) were delivered sporadically within a 10 minute window. I understanding there are going to be some growing pains and I sincerely hope it's a success. If attention is paid to the kitchen (and menu) this could be an outstanding destination. read more

I get this may not be the cheapest place to eat in Caseville. But for what you get, it was really over priced. The Seating is a major issue. During the day, you're two choices will be to sit in the sun (no shade available) or inside seating on top of each other. The restaurant is an old house so I can't expect much in terms of room, but if you're with more than 3 people you're going to have to split up or be on top of each other. The $11 personal pizza is frozen pizza. The burger we had was nothing special. The bill was $32 for pizza, burger, two sodas. No beer. Too much money for the lack of taste and crowded feeling you'll get sitting inside. We won't be back. read more

Good to very good beers. I like IPAs and their's was good. The lavender beer sounded gimmicky, but I like lavender so tried a 5 oz pour - it was a treat!: subtle, but distinct lavender, crisp finish. The thumb is a retreat from the ordinary caseville lineup of bars and restaurants. Their beer selection is fantastic- I thoroughly enjoyed their kona stout, along with the oatmeal, red & ipa. Husband and I stopped for lunch on a Tuesday; the family-friendly place was jumping! It was their one month anniversary, and there were still a couple of carpentry finishing things to complete in the main dining area, but - hey! I didn't come here for the finish trim on the windows. They have an excellent selection of over 25 State micro-brews, and expect to open their own micro brewery next week. We'll be back for that and looking forward to it! Seating is indoor (with the prerequisite sports TVs), outdoor deck, or outdoor lawn with the occasional fire pit. The servers were cordial and knowledgeable - very welcoming and attentive. Free Wi-Fi is available. Husband had the BLT hoagie with kettle chips - it's gone! I ordered the cheese and cracker plate. The sliced American cheese - not so much ... but the fete-tomato-basil spread?!?!? Oh my goodness! That and the sausage and smoked salmon were gastronomical heaven ... oh, yeah! Husband had the Cookie Ice Cream Sandwich for dessert, I had a second Belgian Blonde - a lovely way to begin a leisurely afternoon on the lake. Highly! highly! highly! this place! Came here with a group of friends yesterday and have to say it was a cute place. They had a great beer selection and the house brewed ipa was awesome. Our server did a great job of handling a large group on suck short notice. The food was ok my only complaint was I was expecting food that was more homemade not out of a box off the shelf. For instance the burger I got while good was a pre-made frozen patty not hand made like I thought it would be since it was advertised as being cooked on a grill out back just like home. I agree with Nick N's review. And for a place that holds itself out as a brewery, they carry very few original beers and what they do carry is limited in quantity. Since you are sitting in what is an old house, the place has a real compartmentalized atmosphere. They need to find a way to lower the price of their beer. Food is alright. read more

Beer connoisseur place for sure. Best restaurant in Caseville for atmosphere. Go mid afternoon and sit in the back at their small bar. The brewmaster will give you a world of info on craft brewery and you can purchase 5 oz glasses to taste a variety of beer or you can purchase 16 oz glasses. Prices are in line with other craft breweries. Prices are about $2 for 5 oz size and $6 or $7 for 16 oz. I really appreciated the variety. I learned that they brew about 6 or 7 of their own on tap and sell beer from other craft breweries in MI. They had I think about 20 different on tap. Their food is a good accompaniment to the beer but not "homemade" if that is what you are looking for. Go for the unique tastes of the beer and good company and you will have a good time. I even saw they had board games on the shelf that people can play. Call before you go as they are closed some days. read more

Since opening last year, there has been a lot of improvement. I thought their food was much better - We had the buffalo chicken dip as an app which was pretty good, and a mix of flatbread pizzas and sub sandwiches. Everyone was happy with their meals, and the flatbreads are definitely shareable. The have at least 20 beers on tap with a few of their own microbrews. We ate at the thumb brewery a week ago. The restaurant is decorated nicely with some local artists photos on the wall. They are planning on putting in an outdoor bar area but they already have some outside tables set up. Our server (Chris) was very knowledgable about the menu and beer selection. I had the Lavender beer and it was excellent. A little odd at first but the flavor really comes out the warmer it gets. The menu is limited but that's not always a bad thing. The only drawback is that it is a little limited for kids. But as long as they don't mind hamburgers and chips, then they'll be fine. The burgers were tasty but not overly greasy. Walked in excited... very disappointed. Started off wanting outside seating. Only two other tables have people at them the hostess sat us way back under the tent. When asking if we could sit up toward the front she said "we are expecting a rush of people and can't seat you over there." 10 minutes later the one group got up. My friends and I went to the Thumb Brewery on a Sunday, last day of a girls trip. We were really excited to try this place, but left really disappointed. The only good part was the beer, but it was expensive. The food was not good. It took way too long, and when it got to us, everything was cold. The soup came out AFTER our entrees did, and it was cold. We didn't even want our waitress to bring out new warm bowls, because it didn't taste good, and we knew it wouldn't get there until we were done with our food. It seemed like everything was from a microwave. My greek salad was $11 and the chicken was dry and had fake grill marks on it. The sandwiches looked okay, but again, meat was from a microwave. I got a soda and a small mediocre salad, and my bill was $17. WAY overpriced. Our waitress was really nice, and I'm sure it wasn't her fault, but the wait for the (not-so-good) food was unacceptable, especially since everything was cold. The place was not even busy on this sunday afternoon, no excuse for an hour wait for frozen food from a microwave. Stopped here after a day at the beach. This place is literally a house, so it's kind of tricky to find. We sat outside and each ordered a beer and the buffalo chicken dip. Good food, okay beer. The thing that I was really disappointed with was that this brewery doesn't serve their own beer. They have craft beers from other breweries all over the state, with only one beer that's their own, which was a pilsner. Boring. When I stopped there I was looking to try a new beer I've never had before, and was kind of bummed cause I had to get something I've already had. The waitress said they have more beer coming available in the winter though, which doesn't make sense to me considering winter time is their slow season. Great little spot for a sandwich and a brew. Huge brewery can't go wrong. Awesome little gem hidden off Port Austin rd. Only down fault is that they don't have fries.
