    Strawberry Cheesecake
    Geminyna J.

Tastes like my childhood. Nostalgia in a cup (or cone). Chocolate Malted Krunch still brings a smile to my face. Strawberry Cheesecake is another staple. Staff are friendly and expeditious. If you've forgotten what these classic flavors taste like, don't be shy to ask for samples til you find your flavorite. And if you can't make up your mind, splurge for a double scoop at only $2.99! Open til 9pm, 7 days a week. Though it's mostly foggy year round in these parts, it's never too cold for an iconic cylindrical scoop of Thrifty's! If for some reason the counter is closed upon you visit, stop by the freezer section for prepacked quarts of the same yummy flavors.

The topping bar has a great balance of fruit/jellies/mochi and chocolate/decadent/cereal. Some flavors have been overly tart or sweet (cake batter, for one), and it is a detriment that no sampling is allowed, which makes me nervous to try other flavors. The environment is really nice with a fair amount of seating. At the same time, there is great seating in the mall hallway or the nearby pond. Service hasn't been an issue, with the space being quite clean and toppings filled. Prices are a tad on the high end, but for the quality yogurt, it is a great stop.

The frozen yogurt is self-service, with a variety of flavors available, including Dutch Chocolate, Very Strawberry, Cake Batter, Alphonso Mango, Vanilla Bean, Cookie Monster, Taro, Original Tart, Passion Orange Guava, and Watermelon. I selected a few different flavors and added toppings such as blueberries, strawberries, and mangoes. The mixed frozen yogurt was good, but I can't say I liked it that much because I generally prefer ice cream. For two orders, the total came to about $16 (priced at $0.89 per ounce), which felt a little expensive to me. Overall, it was nice to try, but I would probably choose ice cream over frozen yogurt.

Each of my family members also ordered their own ice cream. The girl helping us was new and was a bit slower, but very nice and patient as we decided what to get. One thing I didn't realize is that if you decide to get more than 1 flavor, they will automatically mix it all up for you. So if you want to have two flavors separately, you will need to tell them that upfront. There are only a couple of small tables available for seating here.

Blinds were half drawn already. You were out of three different tubs of ice cream. No cones - or waffle bowls. Over 50% of your toppings were out. The girls in front of us must have asked for 6 different things. Every answer by your "staff" was, "we're out of that." As I was trying to have a date night and a good attitude, I still proceeded to order the Birthday Cake Remix. Out of hot fudge. Got it anyway without it. The "staff" was clearly annoyed with each other. The girl at the cash register was sitting on the counter and barely talked. She just tapped away at the screen with her nails and then handed me a receipt. Then I had to ask for a spoon for my ice cream and you would have thought I asked her to clean the toilet. I dared not ask for a napkin. Who is managing this location? I implore you. Shut it down. You're a disgrace to the rest of the locations who actually care.

The term Bay Area has been a confusing term for outsiders. The Bay sounds like it's close to San…read moreFrancisco but it could be miles away. It's easy to say I'm in the Bay when you don't live in San Francisco. The Airports can be confusing for a visitor looking to travel from and to SFO Airport in San Francisco on the same place where you can enter the Golden Gate Bridge or Bay Bridge. Then there is the Oakland San Francisco Bay Airport which causes more mass confusion especially for those catching BART from and to the Coliseum in Oakland. There is one BART stop along the way which you can go to SFO and Oakland San Francisco Bay Airport it's the San Bruno BART station. This is a good place for a pit stop along the way . When traveling by car there is plenty of parking and the shopping mall . Inside you will find a place with sweet and sour ice treats. It's located inside Tanforan Mall and it's called San FRoYo On my last stroll to Barnes and Nobles bookstore at Tanforan which is closing this Saturday on May 2 for good, I went to San FRoYo because the Starbucks and Cheesecake Factory mash up inside Barnes and Nobles is shut down forever. Inside San FroYo you can choose to get sweet and sour lemonade , smoothies and self serve frozen yogurt in a cup. I got fancy vanilla froyo topped with purple taro. The fancy vanilla was not too sweet but the top of purple taro was a bit sour. All that was missing was the cherry on top ( they ran out of cherries). Since I just watched the Michael Jackson movie I selected from the Smooth Criminal Smoothie Menu and got the Mango and Peach Paradise. It was refreshing and tasty with a bit tarty. This place is good to hide from the rain or sun and enjoy something refreshing. Remember San FroYo is located in San Bruno ( not the Avenue in SF) and not in SF. Visit Tanforan mall before it closes and come by car, motorcycle, bus, BART, feet , and"scooters" you can even catch Lyfts and "Ubers" I miss those days when the mall was thriving and busy seeing people hanging in groups and even spot some "Army recruiters" and I miss the days when they use to have a "Hooters" Barnes and Nobles by next week will be gone in Tanforan and this happened to a Creamery called "Cold Stone" so I went to to get FroYo at San FRoYo its only serve in a cup and not a "cone" Tanforan in the future will turn into a Biotech office , retail, and housing also known as a "Flex Zone" but you will see airplanes in the sky from SFO like the one recently which dodged a "drone"

Anyways back to the frozen yogurt, the strawberry was awesome and so was the mango. Those were the flavors I got. I love their chocolate crunch topping, and they also had some other unique toppings you don't find at other froyo places. They have a small variety of flavors, and a lot of the differing ones are pretty similar to one another, but all the ones I had were great! I did notice that some of the dispensers were really difficult to pull down, making it difficult to control how much you get. There's also a note that they don't offer samples when it's busy. If you have a big sweet tooth and fill up your cup, expect to pay a pretty penny. There aren't many other options for build your own froyo around, so I thought it was worth the splurge
