The discounts for stuff are a little confusing, it doesn't say any where but you need to pay in cash to get the discount that is posted in the booth OR you can get a dealer discount (10%) but then they charge you a % markup on your card... Pretty confusing when you are checking out, i guess best to bring cash. There are items in here that have been in here 2-3 year and stuff that will sell the same day it comes in. Plan to spend 2 hours to walk through, they close at 4 PM and remind you about 20 times from 3 to 4 that is the case. Really really unpleasant people to deal with up front, so if you are on the fence about going and dealing with a sour puss, skip it.

They had some interesting items, but not really competitive with other shops like we found in Antique Alley (New Hampshire) or on Route 101 (New Hampshire). Moreover, the goods were seriously overpriced. We have found many better deals and equal or better quality at many of the shops mentioned previously. Being antique dealers we certainly know how to pick. Will return to Route 1 (Maine) and elsewhere for what we need.

It is open during the warm months on Saturdays and Sundays and the number of vendors varies depending on the weather. People come from as far away as Connecticut and Boston to search for treasures The vendors are an eclectic cast of characters with wares ranging from antiques and junk to produce and baked goods. The days we visited there were about 25 dealers. Haggling is encouraged but these guys are pros. You want to get there early on Saturday to get the best selection of treasures. Sally, who run the market with her family, is friendly and keeps things organized. The restrooms are clean with plenty of hand sanitizer and flowers. There is plenty of parking as well. The coffee at the food trailer is good, we did not try the food.

However, in the last few years the market had become increasing politicized which takes away from the relaxing charm. A week after the last school shootings in TX, the market has several (I counted about four) booths selling gun-related paraphernalia, flags with AR-15 image saying "Trump for Guns", "F... Biden", etc. The market was more fun and charming when it only sold antiques, collectibles, handmade objects, and homemade/grown goods. Why can't the market return to this rather than increasingly represent the division, hate, and violence in the US?

I just had the most terrible experience at Hens & Chicks. I bought clothing there for the first…read moretime and got home only to find out it had a large stain on the butt of the pants! I brought it back to return and the worker told me they have a no refund policy and pointed to a sign I didn't see when I checked out. I showed the worked the stain and said, don't you have a no stain policy? The worker said no, it's your responsibility to fully check over the item before purchasing. That sure would have been nice to know BEFORE I bought anything! I can't even donate these pants to the Salvation Army because THEY have a no stain policy. I will never shop here again. You can get higher quality items at free clothing closets. Save your money.
